Combination dinner #1
Rhyen N.

My wife and I came here for take out this evening and we were not impressed at all!!!! I ordered the cashew chicken and she ordered the combo plate #1 (sweet and sour pork, fried shrimp, pork lo mein, bbq pork, and fried rice) and we were both very unimpressed with the food we were served! My cashew chicken consisted of unseasoned chicken and soggy cashews and her combo dinner came with 2 pieces of sweet and sour pork, lo mein that had almost no noodles, and bbq pork with no bbq. The waitress that took our order was very kind and the inside of the restaurant was very nice looking but the food was an absolute disaster. I am planning on going back one more time to see if the lunch specials are as much of a flop as the dinner menu (the restaurant is open 11-2 and 5-9) and will be making a separate review of that experience but as far as the dinner specials go ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! But the egg rolls are very very good! Please don't let me down again china inn!!!!!

We ate all the food already, sorry!

Traditional steamed dumplings with dipping sauce that tastes just like New Years! This place also has good Americana food for the picky and unadventurous in your family. You can't go wrong with the mandarin chicken and egg rolls. Excellent ratio of wanton to vegetables in the wonton soup.

Outside of new location!

Great Chinese food! And generous amounts. Come early as there will be a wait, if you don't come early enough. Highly recommended!

Many more items available. We drive nearly an hour to get there so it's a monthly thing. UPDATE:11:30 am Tuesday: Mongolian chicken left over from yesterday or before. Flavor suffered. Honey Chicken and sesame chicken both leftovers. Fewest diners I've seen. Less than a dozen. Unsure when we'll go back. Be quite a while.

Flavor was missing on everything. The frozen dessert contained zero dairy. There was one beef dish and I used the term beef loosely. Not even the Coca-Cola was good. I had very low expectations going in, I really didn't think it could get worse than it was. Our server was nice, but never refilled our drinks or checked on us once. We arrived at 11:30 on a Sunday, several of the entrees were empty and when I asked when they would be replenished, the server told me she wasn't sure if they would... Very odd considering they don't close until 8 PM and the lunch rush had barely started. When I went to pay the ticket, the cashier asked me how everything was. I said not great and she said OK. Your total is $42. $42 for two adults and two sodas.., barely worth two dollars. I did leave a $5 tip but only because I felt bad for the "server."

This was not the audience for traditional food. This crowd, "and yes it was a crowd", was looking for watered down Chinese food. Simon would do catering as well and that was fantastic, he would cook traditional Chinese food that was awesome! I feel it is not fair to compare his restaurant to East or West Coast Take-Outs. Also, if you would of ordered from the menu, you would of had a different experience, or even went to their restaurant at the mall. One other note, during the time when this restaurant was open, there were two other Chinese Restaurants, "They were traditional" and had very poor business. The China Garden by far had the most business and was open on major holidays, the crowd was substantial. I am a white American who married a Chinese woman and moved to NYC, the Chinese food that posters here consider Chinese food is not Chinese food! RIP Simon, I still cook your Spicy Pork and Cabbage for my two Boys!

Let me start by saying - we were super pleasantly surprised to find a Szechuan place in Kansas. Secondly, the spice wasn't too spicy, so it's more manageable. And lastly, for 10 people, we shared 10 dishes, and it came to only $150.... plus tip, we were still less than $20 a person! That's amazing... that's probably only 5 dishes in NJ/NY, at most. Favs: - Stir fried cabbage, a little spicy but solid. - Veggie lo mein was a hit with the kids, didn't even get to try it. - Egg fried rice was solid, good flavor, enough soy - Hot & spicy fish fillet in chili oil was excellent, not too spicy - Beef in hot sour broth - probably my favorite with the sour pickled veggies - Braised eggplant w/ garlic & chili was solid Just ok: - Braised pork was fatty, and the sauce wasn't as savory as I wanted - Sizzling beef - a little too long on the sizzling plate made it hard by the time I tried it, so probably need to revisit when the dish first comes out and the kids don't delay it - Spicy pig's blood w/ tripe & veggies was ok; I've had better versions but this included a good mix of the offal and veggies. - Potato w/ vinegar flavor - I get the feeling they probably didn't hear that we wanted the one that was spicy; this lacked that peppery ma-la kick. They ran out of the sauteed water spinach, but that's ok... we were full up! Definitely a delicious surprise and good spot to grab food. That being said, service was very slow, so make sure you're aware of that before you go in at a busy time... temper your expectations on speed of service.

The service was a bit slow and looked like they could use more help in the restaurant with host up front and serving. The food was a bit bland.. which isn't a bad thing because if we needed to sauce it up, we could to our own palette with soy sauce. I was expecting the fried rice and chow fun to have two different flavors, but it was very similar flavoring. Felt like I was eating the same thing, just different textures. Fried chicken wings was okay, a bit more batter than what I'm used to. The ambiance on the inside was a nice sit down style.
