Kelly, the bartender at Walnut River Brewing Company recommended the Beijing Bistro. It's a nice looking place with pretty good service. My only complaint is that it's a little bit dark in there. I understand that they're trying to set the moodbut we're in the middle of rural Kansas so let's not try to be too fancy... This is not the place I would normally go for a steak, but that's what I was in the mood for. This place is more of an Asian place with sushi, but I went for the ribeye steak with a baked potato and sautéed mushrooms. It was delicious and reasonably priced. My friend and I went here for lunch. Having not been here we had questions due to allergies to milk products. The waitress dumped us and a waiter with attitude took over. Beijing Bistro, we keep going back because they are the only place here for that type of food. However, nearly every time we go in there we get shitty service or our food comes at funky times. Today, my husband ordered a fried sushi roll as an appetizer. The waitress turned in that order, then a few minutes later she came back and took our order. My husband ordered a lunch special with came with entree and fried rice, crab rangoon, potatoes, and a bowl of soup. We wait and wait, other customers were getting their soup/appetizers, but not us. She finally brings our food, still no sushi. Then tells us that there was a huge to go sushi order and it would be a few more minutes (this was after she came out and told us that it was just being plated). So my husband just canceled our sushi. Still no soup. I mentioned that I guess he wasn't going to get his soup. Our waitress then shows back up and asks if he wanted his soup to go. Wait! What?! Why, would he want his soup to go? He wasn't even done with his entree yet. He told her not to worry about it now. We spoke to the manager and was informed again why our sushi didn't come out. I asked her if that would cause him to not get his soup. Why was a simple lunch made to be so complicated? We didn't order anything special. They need some competition in El Dorado! We always come here I have came for years. Nick used to be our waiter like seven years ago was so happy to see him back!! I don't know what happened today with the manager, though the way she spoke was extremely disrespectful to him. He politely came up and said he had to go for some reason. When we asked why he just said the manager said it's my time. He was extremely polite didn't talk poorly or anything and kept it professional with whatever was going on. He was nice enough to come and try and explain it to us how he wasn't going to be our waiter (even tho we asked for him). We asked to have him tab out with us to give him a tip at least... He just shrugged his shoulders and looked at the manager. He said no it's fine... Just give it to the next waitress that is taking my spot. We insisted on giving him the tip (that he deserved) Then the managers came up and said no that we couldn't do that and that he would somehow get the tip which didn't make sense to us? She was very short and pretty unpleasant to talk to. She had a little rude attitude. Obviously not caring about what we had to say. Something must of been funny tho and we just missed it cause she then just was laughing and on her phone at the bar. . We usually have to order take out so there is a margin of error due to the time it leaves the grill and makes it to your doorstep. however 7 out of the last 10 times we ordered 7 of the times both steaks were well done, no pink at all. Even if it was MW it would be acceptable but if you are going to charge $40 for a steak then it should be cooked properly. Service was a little slow at first but picked up after our drinks were served. The drinks were well made. My manhattan was cold and the Long Island iced tea was a bit sweet. The food arrived fast and hot. The appetizers of crab Rangoon were hot and tasty. My water glass was kept full. Some of the lettuce in the lettuce wrap was not too crisp. What a wonderful culinary gem in El Dorado. We were just passing through and saw several vehicles in parking lot at 8 PM on a Thursday so figured that was a good sign, and it was. My husband and I enjoyed a bowl of wonton soup, egg rolls and shared a plate of orange chicken. Everything was delicious! The wontons in the soup had the texture of fresh homemade dumplings and the broth was light and refreshing. The eggrolls were crispy with a wonderful mixture of meat and crisp veggies. The orange chicken was crispy and the sauce was a sauce, not syrup, with the right touch of spicy citrusy flavor. Service was friendly and attentive which topped off the experience. It's about the fanciest place to eat in this town, but if we are being honest with each other that isn't saying much. The food is good, but not great. The portions are big at a big price. Big mistake... she didn't mean eel sauce she meant cold fatty slimy eel. I was so grossed out by this that I asked her if the eel was supposed to be fatty and slimy and she was like yeah it's supposed to be like that.. then she asked me if I liked it (the disgusted sneer on my face should have been enough to answer her question )not offering to take it back and order me something else. This is the worst experience I have been ever had. My family got egg foo young (used to be our favorite) my food had ice chunks in it & it tasted freezer burnt after all the years I thought they made fresh food it is actually not.
