First of all let me just say that I am not a fan of Yokohama, but this place is much better! The owner was smart to open a bar bite Japanese reactant in Wichita. too bad I didn't get a picture of everything because they were all so good! Our waitress was friendly and very mindful about clearing out plates before bringing new items, I wish the table was bigger.

    Uni shooter shot

Good food, good service. We got the salmon skin roll and a baked dynamite roll. We'll be back.

The Uni was very good, very fresh & clean.

We came here knowing the restaurant specializes in gyoza, but we were actually drawn in by a viral video from a popular foodie that highlighted their sushi. The sushi plates in the video looked phenomenal, and I was especially excited to see that they offer uni. Unfortunately, the actual sushi menu in person was very limited and underwhelming compared to what was portrayed online. I also asked whether it was possible to make a customization to a sushi roll and was told no modifications were allowed. Because of that, I ended up having to pick a roll somewhat blindly. After struggling with the menu, I asked our waitress whether the sauce on one of the rolls was spicy. The menu had the sauce listed on a piece of tape with no spice indicator, and she assured me it was not spicy. When my roll finally came out (well after others at the table, as food came out very sporadically), the sauce was extremely spicy to the point that I couldn't eat it. By the time our waitress returned, I let her know and sent the roll back. She did offer to replace it, but given how long everything was taking and how randomly food was arriving, I decided not to order anything else and just shared bites from my family's plates. For families, it's worth noting there is no kids menu. My daughter ordered the regular gyoza, which were surprisingly dry and didn't come with any dipping sauce. Even frozen gyoza typically include a sauce, so this was disappointing. She ended up using soy sauce, which made them overly salty, but it was the only option. We also ordered edamame, but the sauce was very runny and overwhelming. Since you eat only the beans and discard the pods, it felt messy and unpleasant, especially since we were never given a bowl for the discarded pods. On top of all that, we were seated at a table directly in front of the door and were freezing the entire meal. Our appetizers also came out after our main food, at which point we barely touched them. Overall, the experience felt disorganized and poorly executed, especially considering the hype that brought us in. Between the service issues, food timing, lack of flexibility, and disappointing menu, this just wasn't a great experience, and I don't see myself returning.

The food? Chef's kiss. Fresh, flavorful, and clearly made by someone who knows their way around a kitchen. We ordered the iron pan fried rice, cheesy gyoza, and deep-fried gyoza--basically, a fried food dream team--and loved every bite. Zero regrets, only happy taste buds. Now, let's talk drinks. The menu is full of fun surprises, and I went with the Palo Umitini. It was so good, I almost forgot it came with a gummy bear garnish... ALMOST. Because let's be honest--who doesn't want candy with their cocktail? Peak adulting. The atmosphere is everything you'd want: warm, stylish, and just chill enough to make you consider moving in. Service was a little bumpy--they forgot our waters and my daughter's drink at first--but we eventually got them halfway through the meal, so hey, better late than dehydrated. Can't wait to come back and try their Omakase. If it's anything like what we had, I may never leave.

Ambiance - unassuming from the exterior but a very pretty back dining room is hidden away, while the front has a more typical sushi bar feel. Drink - Full range of soft drinks and such, but also a very nice selection of beer, including imports. Had some hot sake and a Japanese beer, and quite pleased with both! Food - Dumplings made how you choose so pan fry them, fry fry them, or have them steamed, they are really delicious. We had the pork and veggie ones pan fried and steamed, and both were delicious! Also enjoyed the volcano rock waygu which was super tasty. Udon kimchi noodles were very filling, and not too spicy for an average consumer. Original ramen was delicious and highly endorsed by both the adult and the child eating them! Dessert - they had an array but we did the heart attack chocolate cake and it did not disappoint! A "Matilda" sized piece with chocolate mousse on the plate. So rich, so decadent and maybe the best dessert for the price point that I have encountered in the last two decades of my life. 10/10 recommend, but not a single serve lol Service - walked in and was seated immediately. Super lovely staff. All very friendly and gracious. Accommodating, attentive and great recommendations. Parking and restrooms - plenty of parking in the lot area, and two restrooms (single seat) in the hallway

My husband and I went here for the first time and had high hopes but unfortunately it was subpar. The actual restaurant was super clean and high end looking. That part was amazing. Although, as far as the food goes was underwhelming. My husband got the 10pc pork and vegetables gyoza steamed and it was completely over cooked so the gyoza was mushy and falling apart. For myself, I had the 10pc wagyu and vegetables pan fried. The gyoza was still mushy and it was not sealed properly. We also had the cucumber appetizer and it tasted like straight mayo. The only thing that was okay was the tofu dish with this red sauce.

Good food, good service. Gyoza was great. We had a cucumber salad with plum dressing that was amazing. The Chicken Japanese curry was good but wont get it again. It was a breaded fried chicken breast with a savory gravy and rice. No veggies. Gravy was ok but I definitely was disappointed it's called a curry and not gravy.

The Gyoza is wonderful, I thought the pan fried was good, but the deep fried is wonderful! I tried one of their specialty gyozas which was also good. The miso carbonara udon is insanely rich and delicious. It's an adorable date night spot! The servers are incredibly nice, but I've had some issues on the timing of food all 3 times I've been since the opening- I'm happy to keep coming back while they work out those bugs.

Amazing food and amazing staff to take care of a group of 5 hungry guys. The staff did an amazing job from start to finish on the meal. Would highly Recommend this spot for lunch or dinner. Fairly upscale style resteraunt so a great spot for a romantic meal for sure.

    Miso Carbonara Udon

The restaurant looked very nice and clean. The atmosphere would be an amazing place for a date if the food wasn't so subpar. My table tried the tuna cigar and the taste threw all of us off. The taste was very fishy, but I figured maybe it just wasn't my type of food. I ordered the deep fried pork and vegetables gyoza as well. The gyoza kept falling apart and the flavor was just mid. Not the greatest. I also ordered the miso carbonara udon and it tasted like I was eating a block of cold, American cheese. Very pricey for the quality of food I received. Our waitress was really nice though! My udon noodles came out before the appetizers and everyone else's entrees but they had just opened when I first came so it's not that big of a deal.

chicken katsu curry, onigiri, and hand roll

I was WOWED. Everything was absolutely delicious. Food came out very quickly, service was great. My favorite was definitely the tuna cigars, the hand roll, and the wagyu gyoza. The only thing I was a bit disappointed about was the onigiri didn't seem to have much filling. Great way to spend Valentine's day!

To be fair it was the weekend and we showed up with no reservation (not sure if reservations are a thing here), and had a bit of a wait. After we were seated, orders were taken quickly but food arrived with a bit of a delay. Being vegetarians sushi options were limited so we opted for fried rice and the noodles. Food itself was delicious, flavorful and filling. We also had plenty of leftovers. Staff seemed a bit inattentive, but the place was also packed and maybe the place is just understaffed... Recommend this place if you are in the Wichita area and looking for a decent place to grab some grub. Just be prepared for the wait times.

Sushi bar seating for about 10 is also available. It seems clean and typical for this tier of restaurant. I'd come here again. Super close to the Marriott Wichita and some of the east side hotels.

We came in as a party of five at 8:30pm, fully aware they close at 9. We ordered quickly and respectfully, excited to enjoy one of my favorite dishes: the chicken katsu. I've raved about it to friends, especially the generous portions--normally two large, pounded-out chicken breasts per order. But tonight was a different story. We ordered a bibimbap, 10 wings, a roll, gyoza, a child's katsu, tempura and two chicken katsu meals (close to $20 each). For our katsus instead of full portions, it was obvious the kitchen split one order between both plates--then handed the scraps to the child's meal, which we were told would be "half" an adult size. It wasn't even close. Not only was the portion insulting, but the food wasn't fresh. The chicken was dry, overcooked, and hard as a rock. I couldn't even bite through one piece--I had to spit it out. When we brought it up, they offered 10% off. Honestly, that felt like a slap in the face. I had just convinced people to come here based on how good this meal used to be, and instead I ended up apologizing to my guests for bringing them here and still paid for meals we weren't fully served. If you were low on chicken, in a rush to close, or just had a lazy cook that night--own it. Don't try to pass off a single meal as two. That's not just disappointing--it's dishonest. This experience was a joke. And if that's how regulars get treated, I will regular no more.

The menu is pared down from what it used to be, but we were still able to find our favorites. Service: Lost a star on this one: It wasn't bad per se, just unprofessional. Though I am sure the server felt it made her sound sophisticated to include herself in the group "Where would we like to sit?" and "What are we having?" followed up with "How was our food?" and "Did we save room for desert?" at this point "we" had had enough and were ready to get out of there. Instead of coming across as sophisticated it made her sound more like a nurse aid at a poorly ran nursing home. "And how are we doing today?" This may sit with a younger crowd, though I did not hear her addressing other tables in this manner. Older persons are offended by this condescending speech. The food, as always was up to great standards, price point was still stable. Service--"We" were not amused.
