I have been an always-highly satisfied customer of the Great Wall restaurant since I moved to Salina in 2017. The family that owns and operates Great Wall are terrific people - friendly, efficient, totally customer service-oriented, and they obviously place a high priority on complete customer satisfaction. And the food - WOW! Over the years, I have tried every menu item and appetizer several times, and each was excellent, every time, with prices that are always reasonable. My go-to place in Salina these days. Drive-thru is a great convenience and makes it so much easier. A word of caution - the owner will talk your ears off if he is working the window. Super friendly! Food has always been goof. My only ding is that they have very limited vegetarian options. Wish they would offer more tofu based dishes. Hopefully soon? This is simply the best fast Asian-style takeout in Salina. The food servings are HUGE, and the flavor is over the top. Their rice has always been tasty and moist - a change from the sandy, pebble-dry pile you find elsewhere. Their steamed dumplings and sauce are always perfect. Every dish I've tried, chow mein, sweet and sour chicken or pork, moo goo gai pan, kung pao chicken, broccoli and beef, cashew chicken has all been immensely satisfying. And their teriyaki chicken skewers are also huge and tasty. And if you're lucky enough to get the owner when he takes your order, it will be like talking to an elderly friendly neighbor who always greets you with an infectious and enthusiastic smile. The ambiance inside is just ordinary Asian fast food decor. But what steals the show every time is the mountain of steaming hot, fresh, delicious food in front of you. Not good. The service was pretty good, the people working there were very friendly and the restaurant seemed fairly clean, but the food was just terrible. I wasn't expecting to find great Chinese food in Salina so I went in with tempered expectations, but unfortunately I still left disappointed. The potstickers I ordered as an appetizer were pretty good. They were crispy and the sauce that came with them was tasty. As for my main dish I ordered the chicken and broccoli thinking it was the safe choice, but what I got seemed to be boiled or maybe canned chicken and lightly cooked broccoli. The sauce was very light, almost clear and gelatinous with little flavor. It neither looked nor tasted like any chicken and broccoli I've had in the past and I could tell it was not going to be any good as soon as they set it down in front of me. I'm typically not a very picky eater, but I couldn't get past more than a few bites of this before I had to call it quits. All in all the only redeeming quality about this place was the friendly staff. I would not recommend stopping here. read more

We were promptly met at the counter by a cute teenage girl which didn't seem to have any patience in regards to us checking out the menu since we had never been there before. Tried to quickly place our order. Food was delivered but a very kind and gracious man. I ordered the beef with mixed veggies and my husband ordered shrimp with mixed veggies. This is not a bad restaurant. It is clean. The service was friendly (but with the seemingly ubiquitous signs about not charging less than 5 on a card with always strikes me as petty, greedy, and unfriendly). The food was hot and delivered quickly. However, the fried dumplings were soft and doughy without any crispness. The filling was pretty good though. First time there.. was a little skeptical because of other reviews but it was close to my destination. Ordered the combination plate with beef and broccoli then a side of crab rangoon. I ordered to go and the portions are huge! It will take me three meals to eat it all and for $10 that's a pretty good deal! The Beef and broccoli.. was ok. Overall it had very little flavor but the broccoli was cooked perfectly. Fried rice and lo mein: so so.. not a lot of flavor here either. I'm not a Chinese expert but I've never had lo mein with skinny noodles before today. Crab Rangoon: best part but who doesn't like fried cream cheese? Ordered hot & spicy chicken, FYI not hot & spicy not even a little like they never tried and when you ask for extra spicy, they charge extra...very disappointing.
