I came here with the Smokey Hills Audubon Society and I left full with leftover food for another meal. I ordered the burnt end sandwich which was packed with flavor and had a juicy texture. The bread was a level up from normal sandwich, being tastier, smoother, and more firm in a good way. The fries were crispy and absolutely delicious. The inner vibe was super fun, they had lots of historical signs, and pictures of Salina which were very cool to look at. And the food. Really bad. Brisket was a chopped up over-sauced bland mass. Literally not brisket. More like chopped beef. Pulled pork was weird and had the texture of refried beans. Great experience! As soon as you get out of your car you can smell the delicious scent of BBQ. They have a large selection of menu options. Friendly staff! I bought a junior pork sandwich with a side of beans. The pork was tender and great flavors. The side of beans had pieces of sausage in it that was wonderful. Good food, nice people. The area around the place looks run down and kinda sketchy. The default sauce has I think, way too much sugar, but the brisket is smoked well, and has a lot of flavor. The buns hold up great and they have a bucket of crunchy pickle spears you can just got more of when you feel like it. Looking at what's around if you are coming off of 70, I think this place is definitely one of the better options and worth stopping into. read more

What an outstanding place to have BBQ while traveling on business. My team in Salina suggested this place for lunch. Luckily we went after the lunch rush. Not knowing when the best time to go we went at 1230, still a great time since there were good choices to choose from. Typically with good BBQ places they run out. Obviously they didn't run out on the choices we made. The service was great and the staff very friendly. I would definitely recommend trying this place out! I choose the two meat platter, brisket & pulled pork. My two sides were baked beans & potato salad. I must admit the beans were outstanding. The potato was worthy as well. Both meats were smoked perfectly! I tried two different BBQ sauces I loved them both. I did not try the Spicy version. I'm not sure if my travels will take me back through Salina but I'd definitely eat here again! My father in law was raving about this place so we had to try it out. We're in town from California for my brother in law's graduation and we grabbed some food here to celebrate after! We ordered the Family Feast and a whole chicken which was enough to feed all 8 of us! Everything was so so so good!!! It definitely satisfied my bbq craving. The pork ribs, chicken, and sausages were cooked really well but my favorite was the sliced meat! Real smoked all the way ribs and they were actually tender. The moist brisket is tender too. Order the wedge potatoes, they are a deep fried baked potato with a side of dipping sauce. Also order the sweet baked beans. You'll need to make a trip to the comdiments bar for onions, dill or sour pickles to offset the sweetness from the beans. Potato salad was okay too. This was our first time visiting, so we ordered in-store. The inside of the shop smells very good, and there is a fragrant smell of smoke. Reminded me of camping. You order at the cash register inside the store, and the ordered items are brought to your table later. Hubby had the ribs which were very fragrant and thick, and the sauce was not too sweet. We had the burnt ends and beans. The burnt ends are tough and full of gristle. I had to spit it out. The beans are ok. I was told this was the best in town. The meat was hard to chew, so hard that I saw someone else using a pocket knife to cut his food because the plastic fork would not stand up. I was told it might be a bad day, but if the food is bad, just don't serve it. I don't think we will be back. read more

Linda made the place. We were out towners and she treated us like we were family. Super quick really good food. I had a junior pulled pork sandwich and it filled me up. Their baked beans were really good, the coleslaw could've been better, but I still ate it. I loved that they gave out free slices of pickles (and you can take as many as you'd like) The place is cute and quaint, you sit yourself, after you order up at the counter. As Kansas is known nationwide for the best ribs and this place was off the I-70 we decided to have a late lunch/early dinner before heading west to Colorado. This was an emotional experience as the ribs and also sausages were SO GOOD. We ended up buying more to go for "on the road emergency use". What a great find! The bbq was very good. We had the brisket and rib dinner with baked beans and potato wedges as sides. The dinner also came with a huge slice of TX toast. We did order 2 extra rib bones. The meal also came with a drink. Altogether $30. The fixings like jalapeños, pickles and onions were available. So first the ribs. The 2 extra bones we ordered actually came with 3 bones which was really nice. The smoke flavor was very good and the sauce was sweet and savory. The brisket was so tender and juicy. We put a little sauce on it but honestly it didn't really need it. The potato wedges were amazing: crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The flavor on the outside was just right. They gave us this little cup of a creamy mayo based sauce that put them over the top. The baked beans were too sweet for my taste but they were loaded, seriously loaded with slices of smoked sausage. The TX toast was just the right think to sop up all the deliciousness. I would definitely recommend. For $15 each (we split the meal and extra ribs! It was a bargain! Customer service was excellent! Their coleslaw was probably the best I have had. It didn't have the string vinegar taste like some do. It was straight cabbage, not mixed veggies. Anyway, the sauce was great. The potato salad was good but not my absolute favorite. We are traveling out of state but I will remember this place next time we come to Salina!
