We're in Kansas. Beef... Right?! Nah, wife wants fish. In landlocked Kansas?! Roll dice. Believe the reviews? I do now! Wow, one of the best sashimi (yes, sashimi) values I've ever had. Super fresh and cold, ample, and the presentation was almost embarrassingly elegant. Hamachi Kama was large and basted with an amazing sauce. Vegetable tempura appetizer was light and crispy and ample and (single-digit price tag??!! I'm spending too much time in NYC and LA.) Oh, and the topper? A deep fried Mt Fuji Roll that was huge; all slices topped with a wonderful krab salad, avocado and masago concoction that made me giddy. Top that off with Sapporo on tap with frozen glasses and I'm finding a reason to drive through Kansas again. Did Ike and Mamie eat here?!! read more

Excellent! Quick hop off the I 70. Service by Amanda over the top. Friendly and attentive. Very clean, kinda country atmosphere but this is cow town . Food was great. Cashew Chicken was tasty and abundant and the Sweet and Sour Shrimp was fantastic. We have enough leftovers for dinner tomorrow. We will return definitely. Our new go to! read more

i'm usually pretty thrown off by "fusion asian spots" bc they seem to do sub-par with the variety of foods; however, this place was surprising good! I would come here again if I ever pass through the city again. I got the miso soup, short ribs, & my husband got pad thai. we shared the mango sticky rice. service was also very nice. read more

We live in Topeka but have relatives in Abilene. We were very impressed with Fuji! Big menu selection, large portions, and excellent taste. I had the Kung Pao chicken and I honesly think it is the best I have ever had. Others in my party had Sweet and Sour Chicken and Hibachi Chicken Chicken. I tasted all of them and they were great. We got ours to go so I don't know much about the dining experience, but it seemed clean and the staff were friendly. If you are traveling through or live around Abilene, I highly recommend it! read more

The menu holds an eclectic ray of different Asian items and styles to choose from. I had the shrimp fried rice and my wife had the hibachi (cooked in the kitchen). Both meals were delicious. . We moved to central Kansas from the Chicago suburbs in May, and had not yet found good Asian food. We were in Abilene to tour the Seelye Mansion and decided to search for a restaurant. The reviews were good, so we decided to try it and were not disappointed! There were so many choices that it was difficult to decide what to order. We started with the Gyoza, which was very good. For entree's, I chose the Pad Thai and my husband had the Hibachi Red Snapper lunch special. We both had the Miso soup. We were both very pleased with our choices and have decided that even with the hour drive, it will be worth the trip just for a meal! It definitely rivals our favorite Asian places in the Chicago area! read more

My wife and I recently stopped in Abilene on our way back from attending social events in KC and had never been to the Eisenhower Museum, which turned out to be an exceptional experience and wished that we had allotted more than the 2 hours we were there (could easily have spent 4 hours, reading of all the wonderful things that Eisenhower did for our nation, during his storied life). At any rate, we googled restaurants in Abilene and were underwhelmed by the choices as reviewed on Yelp and TripAdvisor. We had intended on eating the classic chicken dinner at the Brookville Hotel clone (now called Legacy). Before we went to the museum we stopped at 1pm to inquire how late we could arrive in order to be seated. The receptionist said to arrive no later than 5:30 for their last seating. We arrived at 5:10 and were turned away since they shut down entry to the dining room at 5:00. We even explained this to the owner and he just shrugged his shoulders and "I'm sorry but we don't serve any later than our 5:00 seating." GRRRR. Never go back since they were more interested in going home than serving end of day patrons. I ate at the original Brookville 20 years ago and had really pumped it up to my wife who had never been there since she grew up in Tulsa. After reading recent reviews, it's apparent that it is an empty shell of its past with new owners. So, we chose Fuji in Abilene, since there seemed to be nothing special about Abilene's other restaurants. And driven by the fact that my wife loves Sushi. We were absolutely delighted about every aspect of our visit (clean, efficient, friendly, attentive service and great FOOD QUALITY). I am a former restaurant owner operator with 30 years in the business (very successfully) so I know what it takes to overachieve and Fuji hit on all cylinders. With a Sushi loving wife, we have been to every one of the numerous Sushi restaurants in Wichita (which seem to excel in that category for some reason). I will put Fuji up against the best in Wichita. My wife ordered 3 different varieties of Sushi on their menu and loved every one of them. As for myself, I am not much of a Sushi fan so I always order other entrees on Japanese or Oriental restaurant menus. At Fuji I ordered the Hibachi KC Strip Steak and Shrimp. Here is where the proof in the pudding is. Having served thousands of KC Strips and Ribeyes in my establishments, the one thing I know is that KC Strips are a challenge because they are not as nearly as tender as Ribeyes, so I specifically requested that my KC Strip pieces/chunks be done tender and medium rare (obviously cooked on a flat top). And that the shrimp is not over cooked and tough. On my first bite, I found that they nailed it. The strip pieces were soft and tender and the shrimp as well. They had nicely seasoned rice to with it, along with a very tasty Teriyaki sauce on the steak and shrimp. We also ordered their seaweed salad which was excellent. And we ordered their house salad with ginger dressing. It came out in a chilled bowl and the lettuce was ice cold and super crunchy. Bravo to the extreme from one restaurant operator to another. Fuji is the real deal and should be the most popular and most visited restaurant in Abilene. After having spent the night in Abilene before heading to Salina on our way back to Wichita, we scouted multiple restaurants in Salina for lunch and after eating in Salina, we wished that we had headed back to Fuji for a second visit. So, if you are in Salina or Abilene you will be cutting yourself short by not going to Fuji. read more

My friends and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Fuji Asian. The crispy tuna sushi & vegetable tempura were delicious and presented beautifully. My Drunken Noodle was one of the best I have ever had, and I am from Colorado, where there is quite a bit of fine Asian dining. the Tom Kha chicken soup was very flavorful and looked as good as it tasted. The Hibachi Salmon was cooked and flavored perfectly, the vegetables a bit overcooked. We thoroughly enjoyed the service and presentation and will return again to enjoy other dishes. read more

Me and my wife stay in Abilene and we are food connoisseurs. We ordered the firecracker shrimp, hibachi kc strips with chicken and the general tso. Everything was really good. Will recommend 10/10. I've also tried the ramen also it's good also. read more
