My wife and I tried this place for dinner and ordered the hibachi meal for two. While the portion seemed generous, the quality didn't quite live up to the price. The salad was fresh and enjoyable, but the soup was overwhelmed by soy sauce, with dried out mushrooms and green onions that didn't add much. The hibachi itself leaned too heavily on sauce to make up for the overcooked chicken, steak, and shrimp, it felt like the proteins took a back seat to the seasoning. On the bright side, the gyoza was delicious, crispy, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of the appetizer. If we come back, it might just be for a couple orders of gyoza and a Sapporo. Or try a couple items from the sushi bar. Our waitress was nice and friendly, which we really appreciated, it made the experience more pleasant overall. read more

Ended up ordering sushi from this place while randomly visiting my family. It was all very good! I ordered online, so the ease of ordering was fine. It all came to me super fast. It was all very delicious. The fried rice that I ordered was a bit underwhelming but it still was good. The jalapeño poppers were some of the most delicious jalapeño poppers that I've had. Okay, backstory: Been searching for a solid place in or around Manhattan for Japanese food. Umi is tasty, but the miso soup (a personal favorite) is a little off. Green Tea has good miso, but only spicy yum yum sauce (normal yum yum is another personal favorite). But at Tokyo, the service is not only fast and friendly, but the soup, salad, bento boxes, and hibachi chicken (everything I've tried) are incredible!!! The lunch deals are awesome and filling. Plus, the lighting isn't harsh and the background music has nice variety and isn't too loud. Definitely recommend!!! No complaints at all. The bento box is a great value, ate here on a road trip and was not disappointed! Had the salmon and steak for the bento box, all the sides were great especially the California roll. However, our last experience there, the waitress couldn't pronounce the items on the Menu, I had to keep asking her for everything that was missing.. (Where's the Rice, where's the Katsu Sauce), did she expect me to eat just chicken on a bed of lettuce?? not to mention, my meal came with Miso Soup and salad.. she asked us if we wanted either..I said it comes with both.. so she brought out the soup.. needless to say it was NOT Miso Soup.. it was more like Beef Broth with Mushrooms in it. The absolute worst customer experience EVER!! We go there for birthdays and such. Never been disappointed until today. Our drinks and appetizers were prompt. That's where it ended. Our waitress complained about everything to all her customers. The tables were not wiped down after she cleared them. Other people then were seated at those tables. Soup and salad took an hour to get. Now, mind you, the others seated after us got theirs. The lettuce in my salad was BROWN and translucent. Then 1 meal of 3 was served...it was wrong. The servers are awesome, the food sucks and the manager is rude, workers stay on their phones and don't give a f..., place is a dump there a lot to do, clean, organize and other than the servers no one works, they keep walking back and forth, complaining about everything and looking at their phones while the place is messy. Food is far from good, mediocre, no passion, no pride, no joy, just laziness, despair and rudeness toward the servers who were truly working. I've been here a couple times and it hasn't been great but this last time was it for me. I would rather save the money and time and get sushi from the local Dillons grocery store. Raw fish (sashimi) app sampler had unappetizing consistency and taste, grey fish in Philly roll and general distaste in quality of fish for other raw rolls. Service has been hit and miss here ranging from great conversation and attentiveness to recently a server who complained about other tables earlier in the shift and talked our ears off before even asking us what we would like to drink. read more

Passing through for a quick overnight stop. Need a great dinner following a long day on the road and Tokyo knocked it out of the park! Placed an order for pick up, food was ready right on time and came out piping hot. Food was well cooked and full of flavor. Awesome menu selection and the prices were amazing. Ordered a hibachi dinner, came with soup, salad, fried rice, and the entree. Their Bento boxes also looked to be an incredible value. Snagged a couple appetizers like the gyoza and yakitori, both were perfect. Wasn't in the mood for sushi but the menu selection is amazing and I am sure it would have matched the rest of the food. The cowboy roll is the best choice for those that don't prefer the raw fish option. Service is here at. Facility is nice and generally quiet for a nice mean. I don't know what ambiance is but if I did I'm sure it would be great there as well. read more

The food was okay, but below average for what I'm used to. Atmosphere is alright. The restaurant is clean, but seems pretty small. Our waitress was really nice and attentive, and seems on top of things. I didn't like the music though. It sounded like someone was playing their millennial punk pop playlist, which seemed really weird to me. If they don't intent to play Japanese music, at least mix the genres a little bit so it sounds like a work day radio station and seems less noticeable. Starting from the top: the tower appropriately sauced with just enough to share in each bite down to the end but not drowning in a sea of compensation; avocado is smartly selected even when out of season, spicy crab meat has the appropriate amount of kick while still allowing other flavors to come through, the rice is the right kind of sticky-not overly sticky clinging to the roof of the mouth or dry needing to be held together by compression; the tuna is a lively red with bold flavor. Ordered the Spicy Cowboy Roll: shrimp tempura, topped with lump crab and spicy mayo (8 pieces)....this is by FAR the best roll I've had because there was nothing I had to pull out of it (I.e. cucumbers, avocado, etc). As mentioned in a previous post, I like simple, cooked and vege-less sushi. This sushi was perfect! The only thing I would change is the price ($10.95). Bad news first- they put fillers in the sushi. They chop up the fish, which has virtually no taste, then combine it with those lil crispy bits. It gives the sushi an over all bland and soggy consistency. Will definitely NOT order sushi from here again, which means we won't be coming here at all. I would not recommend this place if you wanna spend the money I'd spend it on Umi steakhouse instead. The food was over cooked the yaki soba noodles were mushy and the rice was disgusting. The vegetables were drowned in oil so was the steak. My steak was raw when I asked for it medium rare. Got a few rolls this time and stayed away from the nigiri, as it was not very good or fresh last time. Kansas roll, crazy roll, and salmon lover as well. Plenty of food for 2 people. Not bad. Excellent hidden gem of Junction City. The crab rangoon is by far my most favorite appetizer. Always comes out hot, and has a delicate, delicious filling.
