We ordered food and it took two hours to get delivered and it wasn't even that good.

I have ordered delivery from China Express fairly often over the past 2 years, as I tend to work late and on weekends in the Tysons area. If you're expecting real Chinese food, don't go here! If you want American Chinese food, this is a great place to order from! I always get the dumplings and I have to admit I think they are like crack. I don't know what is in them, but I LOVE them. I've had a variety of chicken and beef dishes and all of them were exactly what I expected for American Chinese food. The other great thing is that ordering is easy, and delivery is even easier! I've been ordering from this place for 18 months and it has become my go to for hole-in-the-wall Chinese pick-up/delivery. Whilst I wouldn't say it's the best Chinese food I've ever had, the value for money is fantastic and the staff are great. The quality of the food is consistent and better than most other Chinese takeaways in the same price bracket. I've had a few different things here, but typically stick with the Chicken & Cashew Nuts . $7.55 including tax for their Lunch Specials with an Egg Roll? In Tysons? That's crazy. The best "take-out" Chinese place I've ever had. They allowed me to get the lunch special 15 minutes past the time deadline, which was really nice of them. The lunch special offers a LOTTT of food. It includes an egg roll and a bunch of rice and the actual entree. It's really like a 2-person meal. This was my 1st time ordering from the place considering I had just recently moved here and to be blunt, the ordering experience (via phone) was....awkward & the food itself was downright bad at the time of ordering. -Ordering For Delivery- I started by verifying if they could deliver to my apartment since delivery is free if you're within 3 miles & your order is equal/more than $15 (I was blocks away). After telling the cashier I wanted it to be delivered (and this is the awkward part), he switched to having a conversation with either another customer or employee in his native tongue (while I can clearly him) & several laughs are exchanged. Afterwards, he switches back to me, tells me my total, and the call ends. -Food- So after 20-30 minutes, the food arrives and both my friend and I start giving the food the taste;It's soggy & tasteless (by the way, I ordered Orange Chicken). I'm used to Orange Chicken having one or more of the following characteristics : somewhat crispy, light but sweet (in regards to the sauce it's covered in), and/or fresh & this was not the case. In the end, I only took a bite, declared I was done with the meal, and left it in my refrigerator until whatever day I would have the energy to go downstairs and take out the trash. I "might" give this place a try once more because it could've just been a bad day/cook/etc. but I'm still apprehensive for the time being. read more

Great food. Love the MooShi Chicken and the Lo Mein. Light & crispy spring rolls. Most of the food here is excellent, but the Combo Singapore Curry Noodles are a little too wet & lacking enough meat and shrimp. The delivery is fast. I was upset to find the delivery driver tried to make a carbon copy of my credit card! FEDERAL LAW PROHIBITS THIS. FOR FRAUD PREVENTION, merchants are not allowed to make copies of any customer credit card or print the card number on the receipt. DO NOT LET THEM DO THIS! I tell them I'm happy to give my credit card number to them them over the phone and show them my card when they get here, but they're not going to make a copy of my card! read more

Great take out. The food was Fantabulous. I was a little worried because we haven't found a good Chinese place that can accommodate our MSG allergy and all of my other allergies. WE had the pad thai, a beef dish and General Tso's Chicken as well as the sweet and sour chicken. They said there are only three things on the menu that have MSG in them. When we picked up our order they followed all instructions and allergy lists perfectly. They even placed the peanuts in a separate container just in case I was allergic to them. :) Even though I am not. Really impressed. Now we have a new Chinese take out place to go to! read more

Dumpling-related upgrade! While this place has its highs and lows, it's worth calling out the dumplings specifically. They aren't the thin, wonton-wrapper type, they are the big, doughy, soft type, and the veggie ones as well as the pork variety are both really delicious. This is a review of their lunch special. I have had China Express many times for dinner, but felt like ordering a lunch special one day. My usual order of Sweet and Sour chicken is completely different for lunch apparently, with the red sauce already dumped on the chicken before you get it. The chicken and vegetables were basically swimming in sauce. Because of this, the sweet and sour chicken doesn't have the same crispy outside, everything just tastes one flavor of sauce. The fried dumplings were very good, but the egg roll that comes with the lunch special was bland and forgettable. Delivery is always quick from here. I highly prefer the dinner menu and will be ordering from here again, but will pass on any future lunch orders. read more

We have only been in the Vienna area for 6 months and we haven't had Chinese since moving here. I called this place based on these reviews, hoping it would be good and it was! When I called to order delivery, the guy I talked to over the phone was very friendly. We are a family of five and ordered Hunan Chicken, Chicken Friend Rice and Orange Chicken. They gave me an estimated time of 35 minutes but it came in about 20 minutes. The food was still warm and everything was delicious! I was impressed with how much chicken was in the Hunan Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice since most places give more vegetables and rice. We will be ordering from here again! read more

One of our top Chinese Restaurant in the entire Northern Virginia area - this is a CARRY OUT and DELIVERY only Restaurant. There is no place to eat. My 2 favorite Chinese Restaurant owners = Wendy and John (sister and brother team!). My husband and I have been faithful clients of this place. Can't imagine working at the Tyson's Corner area with out China Express. For us, this place beats all the other restaurants including PF Chang which is Asian Fusion. My all time favorite is their Home Style Bean Curd - they are the only Chinese restaurant in NOVA that cookies it with black bean sauce. So so so so yummy!!! Really wanted a hole in the wall place to be great but all I got was ok. I ordered the Szechuan Beef and it was average. A little heavy on what I assume is the peanut butter in the sauce, also heavy is the sugar. There were times I thought if I had some chocolate I'll be eating a peanut butter cup. But the food was still great although the $12 price tag on the dish makes you wonder a little bit. Especially since the containers for the food are already boxed a lot smaller then other Chinese takeout places. They are more shallow and angled to store less food. I wonder how small the $7 lunch specials look like since other reviewers have already complained about it in the past. read more

Been ordering from here for 10 years and my favorite Chinese take out/delivery place. It is not authentic Chinese but the food is good and cheap. They will mail out their menu with coupons and I always order $40 of food to get the free order of General Tso Chicken. If you take into account the free delivery, the flavor of the food and the price, I am not sure why it would not get a high rating. For all those who say that this is average and taste like all the others, then I guess you give the a high rating for Panda Express because there is something wrong with your taste buds. I lived in CA most of my life and there is not a quality take ou/delivery place like China Express for the price in Southern California. My go to order is Pu Pu Tray for 2, mu shu pork, kung pao chicken, Lo Mein or fried rice and hot and our soup. This get me to $40 and I get the General Tso chicken for free. I have not tried all their items but the items I have ordered has been tasty. I have not order their Pad Thai (why would you order this from a Chinese rest and my Pad Thai is better, better than most Thai restaurants) or the moo goo gai pan (never understood why anyone would order this dish, you want something without grease, do not eat Chinese food or asian food) Their vegetable dishes are fresh and tasty. I Think it was very important for me to give this feedback because I dont want other people to have the kind of experience I had after ordering delivery from China Express.- I pretty much tasted the food a couple of times, because I was very hungry and then just tossed the whole thing in to trash. It was the worst Chinese food I have ever seen..!! We ordered Hunan Pork, Shrimp with Lobster Sauce and Egg Drop soup. The amount of corn starch was so much that the whole thing looked like a solid pack of geltine. The egg drop soup almost looked it is full of artificial color and tasted weird. I ordered delivery from here a couple nights ago for myself and some co-workers staying for dinner at the office. The delivery came literally 15 minutes after I ordered, which could be worrisome on the quality of food but my meal was delicious and the order was 100% correct. I ordered the beef with snow peas and side of steamed broccoli which was delicious, and they didn't skimp on the meat which is always a plus. The veggies were nice and crisy, not mushy, and the meat was actually meat, not mostly fat. In addition, they offer brown rice as a side. The delivery is what sold me. I left my wallet at home and my friend decided to give me his card info so I could buy lunch. After the delivery guy made it to my job 10 minutes later (wow!!), I presented him with my card situation. After a brief hesitation, he was kind enough to take down my information. Very nice guy. I definitely tipped him well. The food is okay. I'm a health freak and usually don't eat at joints like this but I liked their vegetarian selection and their prices (especially since I wasn't paying for it), so I decided to trust the reviews on here and go for it.
