I had been ordering from here for years and the last couple times it was horrible. Sweet and Sour chicken was rotten and tasted horrible. Terriaki chicken tasted like it was sitting for a long time and drenched in a sauce that was not the normal sauce. Not sure if new owners but the food was terrible. Something has changed and not for the better. read more

Avoid this place! Dangerous food quality as got very sick with food poisoning after eating here! Sick overnight & the following evening after eating it and nausea for days afterward! It does seem likely that a contributor was the rice -improperly heated rice infected with bacillus cereus. // In case you still want to hear about the taste of the food outside of it causing sickness: Ordered here for first time, and got chicken chow mein and beef curry plus egg rolls. Egg rolls were smaller than standard egg rolls, greasy and not very tasty. Both entrees hardly had any meat in them. The chow mein didn't taste like much of anything. But the worst of it was the horrid food poisoning that came on later that evening and into subsequent day. Reported this place to the Elk River health department. Called the restaurant to inform them of the problem and they wouldn't do anything for me other than provide replacement food- which I don't want as we don't need to get sick once again! Avoid this place if you don't want to get sick. read more

food was great! the chicken was very good and very flavorful. Workers very welcoming and nice.

Ordered Mongolian beef, sweet and sour pork, chicken teriyaki for dinner. I was very disappointed because pork was very small and dry in sweet and sour pork, chicken teriyaki was overcooked and tasted like jerkey, Mongolian beef was missing green and red peppers but smothered in onion. China Dragon used to be tasty but not anymore. read more

I have a lot of problems with this place - 2 stars! Avoid this restaurant unless your taste buds are dead and you like eating garbage. Oh, boy...where do I start??? I'll begin with the few positive things... GOOD: 1. The food comes out fast & hot. 2. The prices are reasonable. 3. There's plenty of parking and easy access from the highway. BAD: 1. First, the people who answer the phone are nearly impossible to understand...and worse...they don't seem to understand the callers either. I called twice on two different days. Each time I had the same bad experience on the phone. I don't care if you're from another country - I think it's great. But the people on the phone should SPEAK and UNDERSTAND English well. It's a no brainer. English, please! 2. No indoor seating - closed. All of the restaurants in Minnesota have been open for indoor seating for months! But not this one, the chairs & tables are all stacked in a corner. Of course, this is their right. They can do whatever they want with their business. But I also have the right to express my opinion and bitch about it. Open up, please! 3. The food was sad and disappointing. (The only thing passable was my soup and my fortune cookie.) My egg rolls were okay, standard fare. But they're about 30% smaller than the usual standard egg rolls at every other Chinese place on the planet. Cheap! 4. My fried wontons sucked. They were waaay over-cooked and they had the consistency of plastic. They also had a suspicious dark yellow color. I've never seen anything like it before. The flavor was bland too. Waste of money! 5. The hot & spicy beef was overcooked all to hell and colorless. Even worse, I could taste that some of the beef had turned bad and it had rotten decomposition flavor. Yuck, yuck, yuck! Health Department, please! I'm being generous and going with 2 stars. But I won't ever come back or spend another penny in the place. -Daddy Maxx Retro read more

The young boy manning the register is rude. He threw my change at me. The restaurant looked like no one had been in there and I was the first person at 3 though they'd been open since 11. I really hope the food is good but service was terrible. The food was gross. The fried rice was old. The chicken was over cooked. The only decent thing was the shrimp with snow peas and white rice. read more

Usually get the black pepper chicken and it's quite good. Only giving three stars this time because we also got some egg foo young and the gravy was a real problem. It had a burned flavor although the gravy did not appear burned. The flavor was the type that you get if the pan or grill is way too hot and the grease got burned before you added the other ingredients, there is a real difference and an extremely short distance between the smoke point and burned. Also I tasted the raw flour flavor, I think the roux was not cooked long enough, too fast, too high. Will still get the blk pepper chx but never the egg foo young again. read more

Poor quality ingredients used to make their entrees. The egg rolls are frozen from Dollar Tree.

Came here on lunch when I was traveling for work. It was made pretty quick which surprised me. It was o my 5 minutes. The lunch special was mostly rice and very little meat and veggies. That's my biggest gripe. The cream cheese wontons however were full of cream cheese and were very tasty. The sauce for the Hunan beef I got was tasty but a little too sweet. Thought it would have more kick since it was supposed to be spicy. It's not bad. Not good. The staff was friendly. Can't complain. Oh the other sad part is my fortune was empty. lol I had a laugh about this. No fortune for me. read more

China Dragon - Hunan beef. Only broccoli and mushrooms - Chinese Near Me - Elk River, Minnesota

We dined in. Perhaps they might have gotten one more star if we had ordered take out and eaten at home. They clearly are not used to having customers actually eating there. I guess if you want to experience what it would be like to have a meal in China this would come very close. I felt like I was on the set of a Jackie Chan action movie. I won't go into detail but I will say I laughed a lot. My wife ordered lomen. It looked nothing like the lomen on the menu or any lomen she has ever ordered anywhere else. She is a fan of Leeann Chin's just to give you a benchmark of what she uses as a standard. I had a special from their board, Black Pepper Chicken. I liked it. It reminded me of the way my mother cooked Okra. The chicken wings I ordered were overcooked and dry even though they were floating in a tin foil tray off oil. My wife said something very insightful that really surprised me. She pointed out that even though we like Asian food, we really don't care that much for Cantonese style cooking. We have gotten used to spicer foods like Korean, Thai and Sichuan. That does not always mean "hot" spicy. We both concluded that people in Elk River have not been exposed to very many options and just don't know any better or have been forced to settle for what is available. read more

Overpriced and food was terrible, cold food and staff very rude to customers swearing at them very sad.

Good food. Wonderful soups. Quick service . I call in my order and by the time i drive over there its ready for pick up.

This is the BEST FOOD IN TOWN! The family that works at China Dragon are so kind; they even add some sugary donuts in my order just to say Thanks! Their hot and sour soup is our family favorite along with their Sesame Chicken- it is the best we have ever had. They are quick and it always comes fresh. We have always been surprised at how large amount of food they give too. We eat at Chinese restaurants often and this is our favorite take out place. Check it out- you won't be upset! While there are a couple of places to be seated here, this really is a takeout joint. Having said that, it is a FANTASTIC takeout joint. Probably the best Chinese food I've ever had. Everything is fresh. Prices are reasonable too. read more

horrible place rude people and very bad food do not recommend unless you want food poisoning

Terrible food! Do not waste your money here. I was craving Asian food so bad so I decided to give this place a try since it was so close to my house. I called ahead and got there maybe 7 minutes later. My food was already ready, which was nice but also not good because that means it was permade and probably just reheated under their lamps. I took the food home and I was so disappointed! It tasted so terrible and nothing like what typical Asian cuisine tastes like! It was also extremely greasy. Leann Chin is the better option if you want something quick. read more

The food is great. I got the combination platter, with chow mien and fried rice. I asked for shrimp but got chicken, but even so it tastes great. The chow mien has lots of veggies. My favorite is the fried rice, it is perfection. I also got some potstickers and they are perfect they are steeped in one side with the other side being just the right amount of crispy. Over all great, I blame bad phone connection for the chow mien being chicken not shrimp. read more

Good place overall. No place to sit at all it's just grab and go takeout. I always get "The Family" one.

The food is good.... But the customer service is awful. Placing orders over the phone is a nightmare. It really feels like minimal conversation is made and your order is never read back to you. Cross your fingers that it's done right. If the service wasn't so rude, I wouldn't have to debate about eating here. read more

My hunan chicken tasted great. The broccoli was cooked perfect with nice crunch. See my photo, it looked good too! read more

Have been going here since we moved to Elk River. There is no better Chinese cuisine than China Dragon! The General Tso's Tofu is incredible, with excellent portions (I always get 2 meals out of ordering one). Extremely friendly staff, they remember my order right when I walk-in (what other place do you know that does this?) Amazing all-around! A+ read more

Second time eating here and the experience is still great. Great food, good service and a chill atmosphere. More take out place than sit down but still well worth the money. Mock duck? Sooo tasty. read more

This is my teen daughter's favorite place for veggie Lo Mein. Unfortunately, over the past couple of years the price has risen to almost $8 for one small container and there aren't many veggies (she likes that fact, but I like 'ma veggies). Thick noodles which I hate but she loves, and the only thing we agree on is that it's not absolutely dripping with grease like other Chinese food establishments - that's a major plus! Their rice is absolutely on-point though, and we've even bought it to spare the hassle in making our own sushi. Averaging everything out: it's decent food, you can see the staff preparing your food, staff is always rushed but usually friendly, they're incredibly fast, and it's relatively clean. However, if you're particular about your noodles and portions (and overall cleanliness) you may want to skip it. I can't speak to kitchen cleanliness but judging by the table tops and bathroom, someone with OCD wouldn't want to eat here. * This is also technically an "eat-in" restaurant but don't expect any privacy or quiet. It's a tiny place and they always have a table of their kiddos there. Adorable little kids who are also very well-behaved. Just don't expect a romantic meal alone here. read more

Great food! I don't eat here too often but when I do I'm always happy! Food is made extremely fresh. Duck is awesome and the noodle dishes are made on the spot, never soggy always firm and tender at the same time. They cook every dish to order, and fry everything on the spot. Impossible to order something and it not be hot and fresh, this is a big plus for me when ordering food. When compared to other pre-made places like Panda Express and lean chin, this is on another level. read more

tasty Chinese food (Americanized). I can always understand the girl who answers the phone and the one who is at the counter. You can see the kitchen so you can see that it's a clean establishment. Only about 6 tables so we've always got food to go. Usually a pretty busy place. read more

Family owned biz - but felt like they were treating this as their own home. Some family "discussion" that was loud and long. Food was ok - not great. The flavor of the broccoli beef gravy was off. We were at the Holiday Inn waterpark and decided to drive over here for dinner. The food was fine (typical Chinese food), but they served the soup in a very deep plastic container, which was very difficult to eat from. And all they have are plastic utensils, which made it impossible to eat the wonton soup and the forks would break whenever we would try to stab our vegetables. Then the eggrolls came at the end of our meal and were cold inside. And they first told us they didn't have any sweet & sour sauce for the egg rolls, then we ask another person and were told it would be another 50 cents. If we ever go back we will bring bowls and silverware, but we'll likely just go elsewhere. read more
