Avoid this place! Dangerous food quality as got very sick with food poisoning after eating here! Sick overnight & the following evening after eating it and nausea for days afterward! It does seem likely that a contributor was the rice -improperly heated rice infected with bacillus cereus. // In case you still want to hear about the taste of the food outside of it causing sickness: Ordered here for first time, and got chicken chow mein and beef curry plus egg rolls. Egg rolls were smaller than standard egg rolls, greasy and not very tasty. Both entrees hardly had any meat in them. The chow mein didn't taste like much of anything. But the worst of it was the horrid food poisoning that came on later that evening and into subsequent day. Reported this place to the Elk River health department. Called the restaurant to inform them of the problem and they wouldn't do anything for me other than provide replacement food- which I don't want as we don't need to get sick once again! But not this one, the chairs & tables are all stacked in a corner. Of course, this is their right. They can do whatever they want with their business. But I also have the right to express my opinion and bitch about it. Open up, please! 3. The food was sad and disappointing. (The only thing passable was my soup and my fortune cookie.) My egg rolls were okay, standard fare. But they're about 30% smaller than the usual standard egg rolls at every other Chinese place on the planet. Cheap! 4. My fried wontons sucked. They were waaay over-cooked and they had the consistency of plastic. They also had a suspicious dark yellow color. I've never seen anything like it before. The flavor was bland too. Usually get the black pepper chicken and it's quite good. Only giving three stars this time because we also got some egg foo young and the gravy was a real problem. It had a burned flavor although the gravy did not appear burned. The flavor was the type that you get if the pan or grill is way too hot and the grease got burned before you added the other ingredients, there is a real difference and an extremely short distance between the smoke point and burned. Also I tasted the raw flour flavor, I think the roux was not cooked long enough, too fast, too high. Will still get the blk pepper chx but never the egg foo young again. read more

Came here on lunch when I was traveling for work. It was made pretty quick which surprised me. It was o my 5 minutes. The lunch special was mostly rice and very little meat and veggies. That's my biggest gripe. The cream cheese wontons however were full of cream cheese and were very tasty. The sauce for the Hunan beef I got was tasty but a little too sweet. Thought it would have more kick since it was supposed to be spicy. It's not bad. Not good. The staff was friendly. Can't complain. Good food. Wonderful soups. Quick service . I call in my order and by the time i drive over there its ready for pick up.

We dined in. Perhaps they might have gotten one more star if we had ordered take out and eaten at home. They clearly are not used to having customers actually eating there. I guess if you want to experience what it would be like to have a meal in China this would come very close. I felt like I was on the set of a Jackie Chan action movie. I won't go into detail but I will say I laughed a lot. My wife ordered lomen. It looked nothing like the lomen on the menu or any lomen she has ever ordered anywhere else. She is a fan of Leeann Chin's just to give you a benchmark of what she uses as a standard. I had a special from their board, Black Pepper Chicken. I liked it. It reminded me of the way my mother cooked Okra. The chicken wings I ordered were overcooked and dry even though they were floating in a tin foil tray off oil. My wife said something very insightful that really surprised me. She pointed out that even though we like Asian food, we really don't care that much for Cantonese style cooking. We have gotten used to spicer foods like Korean, Thai and Sichuan. That does not always mean "hot" spicy. We both concluded that people in Elk River have not been exposed to very many options and just don't know any better or have been forced to settle for what is available. read more

This is the BEST FOOD IN TOWN! The family that works at China Dragon are so kind; they even add some sugary donuts in my order just to say Thanks! Their hot and sour soup is our family favorite along with their Sesame Chicken- it is the best we have ever had. They are quick and it always comes fresh. Terrible food! Do not waste your money here. I was craving Asian food so bad so I decided to give this place a try since it was so close to my house. I called ahead and got there maybe 7 minutes later. My food was already ready, which was nice but also not good because that means it was permade and probably just reheated under their lamps. I took the food home and I was so disappointed! It tasted so terrible and nothing like what typical Asian cuisine tastes like! It was also extremely greasy. The food is great. I got the combination platter, with chow mien and fried rice. I asked for shrimp but got chicken, but even so it tastes great. The chow mien has lots of veggies. My favorite is the fried rice, it is perfection. I also got some potstickers and they are perfect they are steeped in one side with the other side being just the right amount of crispy. Have been going here since we moved to Elk River. There is no better Chinese cuisine than China Dragon! The General Tso's Tofu is incredible, with excellent portions (I always get 2 meals out of ordering one). This is my teen daughter's favorite place for veggie Lo Mein. Unfortunately, over the past couple of years the price has risen to almost $8 for one small container and there aren't many veggies (she likes that fact, but I like 'ma veggies). Thick noodles which I hate but she loves, and the only thing we agree on is that it's not absolutely dripping with grease like other Chinese food establishments - that's a major plus! Their rice is absolutely on-point though, and we've even bought it to spare the hassle in making our own sushi. Averaging everything out: it's decent food, you can see the staff preparing your food, staff is always rushed but usually friendly, they're incredibly fast, and it's relatively clean. However, if you're particular about your noodles and portions (and overall cleanliness) you may want to skip it. I can't speak to kitchen cleanliness but judging by the table tops and bathroom, someone with OCD wouldn't want to eat here. * This is also technically an "eat-in" restaurant but don't expect any privacy or quiet. It's a tiny place and they always have a table of their kiddos there. Adorable little kids who are also very well-behaved. Just don't expect a romantic meal alone here. read more

Duck is awesome and the noodle dishes are made on the spot, never soggy always firm and tender at the same time. They cook every dish to order, and fry everything on the spot. We were at the Holiday Inn waterpark and decided to drive over here for dinner. The food was fine (typical Chinese food), but they served the soup in a very deep plastic container, which was very difficult to eat from. And all they have are plastic utensils, which made it impossible to eat the wonton soup and the forks would break whenever we would try to stab our vegetables. Then the eggrolls came at the end of our meal and were cold inside. And they first told us they didn't have any sweet & sour sauce for the egg rolls, then we ask another person and were told it would be another 50 cents. If we ever go back we will bring bowls and silverware, but we'll likely just go elsewhere. read more
