Had a little trouble finding the place but after a phone call and a quick U-turn we found it next to the Sears on Mason and Kingsland. Service was excellent and food was really good. The chicken creamy soup was very good, i had the hot and sour, it was good but didn't stand out from the crowd like the chicken creamy did, never saw this anywhere else. the fried spring rolls were really nice and had some size to them. My wife had the China Town entree and I tried the Chicken in garlic sauce, both were good. Prices were great, if we go back it'll be for the chicken creamy soup and the fried spring rolls. Two young ladies have taken it upon themselves to be witchy about the owner of this restaurant. She is one of the most kind and sweet service people we know. IF you order wrong, it happens. The owner would work with you if you were pleasant and not racist - and did not blame it on the owner's language skills or attitude. I have seen one of the two complainers recently and their behavior was awful. The owner was NOT the one yelling. Quarantine signs were clearly marked and understandable. The food is good, quick, and the restaurant staff truly cares about delivering a good experience. Don't let those reviews deter you. I would also like to say that they are separating bagging food from cooking food from delivery/paying checks. I travel a lot. So I had to make sure to review this place so I can remember it the next time I'm in the area. 1st I had them deliver to my hotel room. The food was awesome. Showed up right on time. My wife and I have frequented this China Cottage several times. However last night I had a seafood dish. Two to three hours I became bloated and vomiting up the dinner. Fortunately after I emptied my stomach of the food I started to feel better. My wife had Orange Chicken and enjoyed her meal. I am certain it was bad seafood. The only delivery my parents would allow when I was growing up was pizza. I didn't realize that Chinese delivery was completely normal until I was 16. Recently my little brother left the nest I fled from previously to come and stay with me and this Monday was his first day of school. I got wrapped up in work and practically crashed when I got home. I was too tired to cook and didn't feel like ordering pizza, so I brainstormed for a bit and remembered that Chinese restaurants deliver! When I found China Cottage's menu online, I was satisfied. I casually let it slip that I needed extra menus because I worked in a leasing office and put a welcome packet together for all my new residents with menus for local restaurants and business listings. I was excited when they threw in an order of potstickers on the house for advertising for them. I was impressed when they showed up at my door in less than 15 minutes. When I finally stuffed my face with delicious moo shu pork, cho mein, potstickers and crab rangoons, I was happy. Believe the hype. I'm giving China Cottage 5 stars! The best Chinese food I've ever had with out question. Typically I would make suggestions on a dish to try, however it makes little difference as to what you order. Anything and everything is as good as it gets. I ordered: Orange Beef, Garlic Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Szechuan Chicken, Hot and Sour Soup, and the Egg rolls. All of which deserve 5 stars. I live in Katy and have tried a lot of the Asian food in this town. The only Asian food I ever eat is general tsos chicken, hot and sour soup, and chicken/beef lo mein. The chicken is not too lean not too fat. The lo mein has a bit of grease on it but the flavor is amazing. I think they must use more garlic than other places which is a plus for me. The sauce for General tsos is perfect. I order the large hot and sour soup if I am sick or have a cold and it is a comfort food. China Cottage consistently dominates any other place I have tried in the surrounding area. It is easily my favorite and go-to Asian place for the dishes I have described. I don't consider myself some Asian food expert, but for these dishes china cottage has my vote. read more

Great portions for their lunch specials (soup and two barely filled cheese puffs). The chicken is all white meat. I ordered the garlic eggplant and it was good. They have your typical Chinese dishes so if that's what you're craving, I'd recommend coming here if you're in Katy. The other dishes look good - cooked fresh - not from some warmer. My wife and I checked this place out after reading a few reviews here on Yelp. The food was pretty good, though I'm pretty sure this is *not* the best Chinese-American food in Katy. It comes pretty close. It was quiet inside and we didn't have to talk over each other, which was nice. They played soothing music, some oriental classical and just contemporary classical. Made for a relaxing experience. The prices were about what you would expect ($8 - $14 per plate) however one plate will feed two people, especially if you get an appetizer beforehand. The menu states that the full meal comes with rice, soup and eggroll for $2.50 extra, though we just opted out and it still came with the rice at no extra charge. We will be back, great little place. Today was our first experience. We ordered a wide variety of food and smacks. Everything was excellently prepared and delivered. Our meal was "To-Go". China Cottage is close, tasty and fairly priced. The Cottage Chicken (Orange Chicken) was really good. We ordered it due to the numerous mentions in other reviews. We also tried the Kung Pao Shrimp that was very tasty though a bit more spice wouldn't have hurt. Egg drop soup was simply egg drop soup. Nothing super special, but good none-the-less. Wonton soup was delicious. The only disappointment was the egg roll that was super greasy. The lady that took my to-go order on the phone was very nice but a little hard to understand. She did repeat my order back to be sure she had it correct and when my husband got home with the food it was 100% correct and nice and hot. Nice little restaurant in Katy....very Asian. Lol The crab Rangoons are different as they add garlic and onions. It is a nice change from the average cream cheese. Eggrolls are INCREDIBLE. I always try to find good pork eggrolls and I always leave disappointed. They are my favorite eggrolls in Houston. The fried rice is also great. It is rated #3 in Houston for me. Now for the bad, I did not like the sweet and sour chicken. To much breading and the sauce had way to much sugar. I didn't get much else in the menu because everything else was deep fried. Finally have found a Chinese food place in Houston that has great flavor and is consistent near us! We ordered the chicken fried rice, chicken lo mein, sesame chicken, chicken and broccoli, and an egg roll and it was ALL amazingly good! They aren't skimpy on the servings either. They will deliver but the first time we called they were so busy they said they could not deliver at the moment. We ended up driving over (7 minutes) to pick it up.
