Well took a different route home from work and was deciding what I wanted for dinner. I knew I didnt want a hot and ready pizza so I saw the sign for this place a few feet past it. I pulled into the strip mall which is getting to be the norm anymore for chines restaurants, and decided to go in. Judging by no cars I assumed either it was bad or they were primarily take out. I decided to sit inside and eat because I didnt see any pics on Yelp about it so I decided I would take a shot of my meal. At first I thought it was a very small place with a few tables but noticed there was a section in the back that had the lights off probably for bigger groups. The waitress came over right away and got my drink order and I sat down. The menu had the typical Chinese fare, nothing stood out. The atmosphere was clean but barely anything on the walls. There was a big fish tank with a couple gold fish and guppies swimming around. I decided on the Almond Chicken combination with egg drop soup. It also came with chicken fried rice and an egg roll, the kind with the bean sprouts that I like. I asked about the gravy on the almond chicken and she said it was the yellow gravy but I could have the brown so thats what I chose. Service was fast almost too fast. Usually I eat my soup then my egg roll comes. My dish came and it was a large portion on a plastic oval dish. My pop came in a can also. The brown gravy was poured on top, so I wish I would have had it on the side. Just dont care for soggy pieces. The rice had a good flavor, as did the soup. It wasnt thick and congealed like some places. And he egg roll was good also. I liked that they had the white pepper I seem to like that better at times. My first taste of the gravy was something tasted off a bit. I usually taste everything separate to give a full review. It tasted like a spice I recognized but not over powering. After a couple bites the taste disappeared and it wasnt distinct. It almost was like maybe a hint of cardamom or something. It was still good though. The batter on the chicken was a little thin but still tasty. All in all I had a good meal. Wasnt the best I have eaten but wasnt the worst either. I would go back, the prices are great for what you get and the service was friendly. read more

Love this place! I get the shrimp and broccoli several times a month since I work in the area! The orders are always ready in 10 minutes and they have great lunch specials you cannot beat! If you're in the area check this place out, it will not disappoint. I love the consistency of product! I never get a bad meal! read more

Love the food. I wish they would cook the rice in a different way. Hands down however over all very delicious.

It's not the nicest of locations or the friendliest service. The only time the dinning room is open is from 11-2 pm the rest of the time it take out. Great portion sizes and very tasty egg rolls. Yes I've had better and yes I've had worse. All in all it's pretty ok. read more

I go here about twice a month. Always get them sweet and sour chicken and Szechuan chicken. The Szechuan isn't too spicy and has just enough vegetables. Their soups and egg rolls are really good too but you have to try their almond cookies. I eat one or two on my way home since it's a little bit of a drive. Old school sorta-Cantonese American style takeout. This place makes me nostalgic. My dad used to work around the corner and introduced me to this recently. They have terrific almond chicken. This is like I recall from my youth. Light gravy, perfect boneless chicken slabs, not overbreaded. Delicate. 5.85 for a luncheon combo that you will likely have some left of. My only niggle is I am picky about fried rice. I am unimpressed by theirs and they will not substitute white. Wha? Luckily they sold me a side of white for a buck and my dad just had more fried for himself. My mom likes the chop suey here a lot with the noodles. Yes, I am saying we eat inauthentic to the max. Do not come here expecting anything that would be strange to a 1970s American palette to be awesome. My mom grew up thinking this was Chinese food and there is a certain charm in that to me. Yes my parents eat much more real versions now but there is a certain MeTV type familiarity that makes them enjoy the old school flavors still. Side notes: I actually think the egg rolls are decent. Thin plum sauce and real hot mustard (ask) makes everything magic in my book though. They pack up plenty of both for me so I am happy. I have never eaten in so I cannot comment on service other than they have orders ready quickly and accurately when you get take out. Do not deviate from the hits of yore here. I only come here for almond chicken for a reason. Thats what works here. Think about what dishes your parents/grandparents would have ordered back in the day and go with it. Let go of your hipster cool a bit and eat fake for a change. It's not the worst thing you can do and hey it's not the ultimate sin, it's not a chain LOL. Sorry but food snobbery cracks me up a bit. I frequent this restaurant as they serve the red sweet and sour sauce on the chicken. And, it is minutes from where I work. On my last visit, the owner (female) was terribly rude. I addressed the issue and inquired why did they have a sign posted (new by the way) that would not service rude and disrespectful patrons. She walked away and sent a guy to speak with me. After I voiced my concerns, I left. Let me tell you I will not step foot in this place again. I refuse to give anybody my money that does not show me respect. I usually don't write reviews but I'm tired of spending my hard earned money of below average food and horrible customer service. I ordered 50 dollars worth of food but one of my meals did not have any sauce on the chicken. So I called the owner to ask for a replacement for that particular meal and his response was it's not my fault. I will never order from here again. One of my staff and I get take out from China Chef nearly every week on Wednesdays ... Going on for the better part of the 8 years we have worked nearby. Hands down, they have the best sesame chicken around, the fried rice is awesome, egg roll fantastic and the portion sizes are GREAT for such a super low price! My buddy is pretty picky and he loves their almond chicken, too. While we have eaten there a few times, it's really geared towards take out. Cudos! read more

Awful service for sit down - this place really isn't set up for sit-down service. It took 10 minutes for them to turn on the lights in the dining room, and the "waiter" only came by our table every 10 minutes or so. Tea took 20 minutes, and the 3 entrees we ordered were staggered by 5 minutes each once the first entree came out - yet it sounded like there were a dozen people in the kitchen! We requested hot sauce - after 10 minutes, we were told that it was "coming". After another 10 minutes or so, the waiter brought us something that looked like hot oil - unfortunately, it wasn't actually hot and tasted like greasy awfulness. We only asked for 1 egg roll (they had chicken & we had 2 vegetarians) but got 3 anyway - these were the most disgusting egg rolls I've ever eaten. The inside was dark grey and had an almost rancid flavor. Egg drop soup was strangely thick, like they had added corn starch or something after making the soup. As for the entrees, the szechwan chicken was good (with fresh vegetables, surprisingly), but not enough to bump to 2 stars - the entire dining experience was awful. read more

The almond chicken was hot fresh and delicious !not oily! Problem was the sauce it wash and cornstarch flavored ' the lady is courteous unless you look her in the eye and you will see she is just trying to be courteous ! Two gentleman was ahead of me and picked up to go order she was pleasant until they asked for more soy sauce packets ! If that is how you treat people they should put you out of business. You probably dont even live in Romulus. I would drive in the opposite direction before eating there. Ungrateful people. First time going there I called my order in over the phone. I ordered general tso chicken combo, fried rice with extra shrimp, and pepper steak. I only stay around the corner so I walked. now when had got there it took them about 2 minutes to come to the front. Usually Chinese people be right there soon as u walk in. Any way when they finally can to the front , he had realize they had gave my order away. So I had to wait about 15 mins for them to make my order which was OK, I didn't mind. So I waited and I never got any thing for my inconvenience no money off no extra nothing. So when I get home I'm ready to eat, My pepper steak was just alright. My general tso chicken was hard it had little hairs sticking out looked so nasty I felt like I could have been eating cat or something other then chicken. I'm sorry, but the almond chicken was not good. The breading was greasy and left an unpleasant after taste. The fried rice was dry and bland. The egg roll was ok but an egg roll doesn't make a meal. please do not patronage this establishment! they do not respect the members of the romulus community or the urban residents. i was not provided accurate change after making a purchase. i spent 2 hours arguing with the restaurant employees, trying to get my change or a refund after being displeased with the service i was receiving. i contacted the romulus pd and once i was provided my funds i was missing prior, i was forced to leave with the food i did not wish to acquire. i later found what appeared to be mice or rat pellets in my food. please do not support a restaurant that will cheat the patrons, provide horrible service and food! read more
