My granddaughter didn't like the general tso's chicken even though I thought it was okay. The egg rolls were nothing to write home about. I won't order from them again. I have moved from Las Vegas to Oshkosh and let me tell you there a huge difference in food. Moving here I tried cheese curds for the first time and figured out what a bubbler was but one thing was missing in my life; good Chinese food. I have been use to having a variety of Chinese food to pick from then moving here I was down to 3-4 max. After trying a couple of other places I found China 1. I walked into the place and was kinda skeptical at first. It was a hole in the wall and I was iffy on trying the food; but I still continued in. I was greeted with a hello by the cashier with a smile and proceeded to the front of the counter. I examined the menu for a while. I had finally decided to order and went with the crab ragoons, BBQ boneless spare ribs, chicken lo mein, and chicken with broccoli. The girl at the register repeated everything back to me and then gave me a total and told me it would be about 15 minutes. While I was waiting I was able to look into the kitchen since they had an open kitchen. It was cool being able to watch my food be freshly prepared and before I knew it my food was ready within 10 minutes. When I got home and opened the bag I was welcomed with a amazing aroma. The food was really good..... But the restaurant was a different story. The booth seats were all ripped up, garbage was piled on tables, dozens of soda cans sitting up front for the workers to come out and drink, rude service..... It goes on and on. My family of three frequents China one quite often and we are never let down. Prices are great and portions are darned good. We always eat in and it's nice and basic, nothing fancy, but we come for the food which is the best Chinese in town!! Yumm read more

China 1 has been our Chinese place since moving here a year ago. Their food is good and always what we expect. Freshly made, hot and delivery is fast. The staff there are friendly and accommodating and work hard to make sure everything is correct. We are customers for life! read more

Ok, let me start by saying I've only ordered from here twice. The first time (about 2 weeks ago) was great. Today however, absolutely disgusted and furious. Please look at the picture(s) I've uploaded. I ordered for delivery to my work, and about my 5th piece of orange chicken contained a METAL object!!! This large piece of, wire? Was embedded inside a piece of chicken, yes I chewed on it and it cut my tongue. After removing it I was very surprised and disgusted. I was on a lunch break so many coworkers witnessed this happen. Very disappointed went to website to order an have delivery. On website it says store from our address was 6.3.miles away and a ten dollar minimum. They call an tell us they will not delivery or we have to have a minimum of $35.00. We discuss our feelings an they were rude and said sorry its our policy. I normally order from China One and love it. But tonight I ordered and it was horrible. The rice was mushy and very greasy and the Lo Mein was over cooked and mushy. The Crab rangoon seemed like there was no crab in them at all. All of it just tasted horrible. My stomach was so upset after. They really dropped the ball tonight. Very disappointed. best Chinese in town and I have sampled everything I wanted to so far and have never hated anything because it was bad (just because I didn't like one dish doesn't mean it was bad, just means I don't like that dish) but I enjoy the vast majority of their menu but when I order online some of the things are misspelled and I wish the descriptions where more detailed so I know what I'm getting also I cant order soda online (which is such a drag). just to be constructive, these are their only shortcomings. read more

although I love the fact that I can do online ordering, the service could use some improvement. It took exactly 1 hour for them to deliver my food. When I called them to ask where my food was she said they were on the way and when the delivery driver got here I barely opened the door to him shoving the bag at me and saying "here" and then hurrying back to his car. read more

I cannot fathom or understand how anyone can enjoy this place. They must enjoy horrible quality food that is not fresh i guess. I've never had anything good from this place and used to order delivery a lot. All food items tasted freezer burnt pre-packaged microwaved chewy flavorless crap. Chicken that is stringy and inedible. Sauces that taste like chemicals. Egg Rolls and other small menu items that taste equally as bad. Jade Dragon (even under new ownership that's not as good), HuHot, Royal Kitchen and ever pre-packaged frozen Chinese entree's in the freezer sections of grocery stores taste more authentic, fresh and so on. It takes a hell of a lot for me to find mostly bad things from a place, I try to be objective or understand why certain things are a particular way and look for the good....But sorry China 1, I can't do it with you. 1/5 Stars for quality of food vs. price. 4/5 for service. They aren't bad people, they just serve questionable food. $14 dinner at HuHot with a Salad with choice of ingredients, cooked fresh with mostly fresh ingredients. Better food, better for you and overall cheaper considering I can go back for multiple plates. read more

Pros: Ordered at the counter and service was quick. Restaurant was clean. Large menu. Cons: Egg rolls, Moo Shu Pork, and Egg Foo Young all looked and tasted as if reheated from frozen. Sadly this probably is the best Chinese food available in Oshkosh. read more

We ordered the General Tso's and the Sweet & Sour Chicken-- two Americanized Chinese food classics-- to start. Neither was anything to write home about. Small pieces of chicken with a high breading to chicken ratio and slightly off flavors in both dishes. The pork fried rice that came with them was a very bright orange color and had very few pieces of pork, egg, or vegetables. The taste was not the best either. Egg rolls were nothing special. Delivery service was prompt and friendly, though. I think we'll be trying elsewhere next time. read more

People have always talked about how good this place is, and I just don't get it. I've tried a couple times and ordered the sesame and general tso's chicken both times. Each time the chicken was way over cooked and hardly edible. It was tough and dry. Maybe we'll try it again sometime, but anytime soon. read more

In the city of Oshkosh I would rate this little hole in the wall the best Chinese restaurant. The menu is your typical Chinese menu but what makes it stand out is the quality. Good smoky flavor of the fried rice and lo mein and even if you order delivery it's piping hot. The seating is small and run down but the food is what makes this little restaurant shine. The beauty is you get to see right in the kitchen as they make your food and the spectacle of them operating that wok is one to adore. Some of my favorites include the Mongolian beef, chicken wings, and duck. The General Tso's chicken is a little too sweet for me but some if you may like it. The lunch combo platters are relatively cheap and you get plenty. The dinner combo plates are also decently priced and you get more than enough. They do offer a lunch buffet but seating is limited and there are only 5-7 items on the cart. But it's the take out and delivery that kept this place going. I give it average for menu and above average for quality and flavor. read more

I love China One. I have always ordered from there. It is my #1 and only takeout place I go to for Chinese food. Just yesterday I ordered a Chicken Lo Mien Lunch Combination Plate. Ate half of it and refrigerated the rest right after I got done eating it. Today, I took it out of the refrigerator and heated it up. As I got down to the bottom of the bowl, there were pieces of moldy chicken. Not just one but multiple pieces. Moldy chicken does not happen over night. Now that moldy chicken is in my stomach. Never has this happened before, but it just takes one incident to lose a customer. I've been loyal to the business, but no more. Bye China One! I'm cooking my own Chinese food from now on. read more

The food was absolutely horrible. I ordered the Singapore chow mein fun and I asked for it with out shrimp. It was filled to the top with shrimp and it tasted disgusting. I've had this item from other places and I enjoyed it but I just threw this right in the garbage. I also ordered egg rolls and they have changed. They used to be pork but now they are filled with maybe chicken and they taste like the cheap ones you get from any so called Chinese restaurant that no one enjoys. read more

NOT WORTH IT AT ALL!!!!! 1 year ago, this establishment screwed up our order, then tried to rectify it by sending out shrimp that was past its expiration date (the taste was awful for shrimp). There was no offer to further help out. Yesterday we made an order of 4 items from their lunch menu. The MANAGER took my order over the phone, and got it wrong. I had to correct items, and they still sent us the wrong things. I called back to let them know that 1 order was completely wrong, and all 4 sides were incorrect (wanted soup, got eggrolls). The girl said that they could send out the correct food, but it would take another 45 minutes, at which point I would be at work (was looking forward to the food for my lunch break). So they said I would be credited with 1 order of chicken and 4 soups. I called today to request these, and was told that I would only be credited for the chicken and 1 soup because that was all that was written down. I said that I had been told that it would be 4 soups and 1 chicken, and that I felt that the person whom I had talked to seemed to be a moron making multiple mistakes. I was told that I was being rude, and to get the food I was credited with I'd need to BUY MORE FROM THEM! SERIOUSLY?! I was also talked to in a manner that indicated that I was being punished for thinking that one of their staff, the MANAGER no less, was low on thought powers, so to get what I was promised for free would now cost me money. There are other places you can go for Chinese food, and with better quality at that. I recommend you do so. read more

I noticed plenty of people saying the restaurant is a little sketchy, as I totally agree, but we're all friendly and I really do recommend coming in to eat! I'll never order from China1 again. We liked to order from there sometimes at lunch time at weekends as price is very reasonable and food was decent. Few months back I've ordered one of their shrimp dishes as I've always loved those there and this time shrimps tasted like coated in raw flour and consistency overall was disgusting. I've decided then I will skip shrimp dishes and started trying different dishes. Today I've decided I'm not feeling much adventurous and ordered General Tso's chicken and Jason ordered Orange chicken (I do not care for orange taste with chicken and always liked tanginess and spiciness of Tso's). We've got our order and I've enjoyed the nice wonton soup an then opened my chicken. Top said it's Tso's but when tried it tasted even more orange and more sweet than Jason's orange chicken. He called and complained that we've got 2 orange chicken instead our order and they insisted that it's as it supposed to be. They said that General Tso's chicken is even more sweet than orange one and only difference is that orange chicken have orange peel in it. I've never ate General Tso's chicken that tasted like orange chicken before and we told lady straight ahead that we guess we'll never order from there again as this is ridiculous. She said they can take $2 off our next order after which Jason said that we can save even more by not ordering there, wished lady a good day and hanged up...
