We celebrated birthdays for several family members this weekend. We arrived at noon, and were seated in a cozy side room close to the kitchen. Service was excellent: timely, attentive and helpful. Everyone enjoyed their meals; a variety of typical Mexican food and beverages. We brought birthday cupcakes and the friendly staff serenaded with song, big Mexican sombreros and ample ice cream. We used to really enjoy Chimi's, but the quality has gone downhill, at least for meals that are delivered. On a previous order to the same residential address, a completely unidentifiable meal was delivered (a creamy chicken cutlet of some kind that didn't seem to match anything on the menu, in lieu of the enchiladas ordered). And on this week's order, we received tacos al carbon with zero sauce, pico de gallo, or beans, Yolandas enchiladas with no sauce, beans, or accompaniments, one medium bag of chips and tiny cup of salsa for an order than included four main meals and two sides of guacamole, and two small dollops of guacamole as our appetizer order of guac. It all tasted okay but did not represent the Chimi's we used to know and love for their great food and attention to detail. read more

In fact, the tax was not indicated on the bill looks like a miscalculation on the bill, and looks like we annoyed her to ask about it and calculate the amount. It is just not clear what they're doing and nobody is gonna say anything for this little amount but little streams make big rivers... Good for them! We decided to try this Chimi's having eaten at the one in Wentzville and because it was close to where we were shopping. We went on a Thursday evening and were seated quickly and given chips, salsa, and menus, and then we sat and sat. After several minutes without anyone stopping by to even bring us water, I stopped a server's assistant and asked who our server was and told him we hadn't yet been greeted. He vaguely pointed to the front of the restaurant and walked away. We waited about 5 more minutes, watched others seated and greeted and decided that maybe we should get dinner elsewhere. No one seemed to care as we left either. There are A LOT of much better choices for Mexican food in St. Peters, and those are the restaurants we will frequent in the future. We were sat right away. I had a Mango Margarita and The Chile Colorado My husband had a beer and chili rianos the food came out super fast. We were pleasantly surprised we weren't sure what to expect when it came out so quickly my husband loved the chili riano he said it was the most cheese hes ever had delivered on one and that it was amazing. The chips and sauce that were delivered to the table the ships were fresh and warm the salsa was delicious. We went in with a large group (7). We go there at least once a week. If the manager is serving ask for a different section he was horrible got 3 orders wrong everyone's bill was wrong! My daughter and i met their for lunch. The waiter took our order and never brought out my daughter's Diet Coke, so we got a different waitress to bring it out. We later learned our waiter left and no one was assigned to our table. The two lunch plates came out with a totally different waiter and the food was just lukewarm at best. The enchilada sauce isn't bad. I particularly like the chips and salsa. Very fresh chips and a decent salsa that is neither too chunky nor too thin. Portions are generous and prices are very reasonable. They were moving a lot of queso! This was a very busy Sunday night with lots of families and large tables and the wait staff and the kitchen were working hard but keeping up. We were a party of five and the staff was always attentive. The hostess was very accommodating when we let her know a wheelchair accessible table would be needed. Our waiter Arturo as always gives the best service! Even though the restaurant was very busy, we were never forgotten.He always came by to make sure we were happy. Having Mexican food in St. Peters is very hit or miss... but Chimi's is reliable. We used a Groupon tonight and ordered steak and shrimp, XX dark, and dessert. Well, we tried to order dessert. No flan tonight. Still, it was the best steak we have had in a restaurant in months. And the shrimp are huge. Nothing was overcooked, and the portion sizes are large. Maybe it's just blind pinata busting luck, but every time my family and I come to dine here, it's a good time. It's really good Mexican cuisine out here in St. Charles county. I like that typical Mexican restaurant ambience and mariachi music in the background. The salsa is seriously boss, the margaritas are plentiful and the specials are always on display. I think they are really good value. I like their signature chimi dishes... They make dishes cheesy. I've found allot of other Mexican places kind of cheat you out of the cheese. It's nice restaurant dining rooms are gradually but surely opening up again. It's hard to eat fajitas in the car. And by the time you get the meal home and have to re heat the damn thing. It's just not worth it. Fajitas are best eaten at the restaurant. The combo fajitas we're also on sale $8.00. Not a bad deal. I, however decided to go with the combo enchilada lunch plate for $7.25. l ordered 2 chicken and one cheese. The white meat chicken was a little tough but not that bad. It was nicely seasoned with chopped green pepper and onion. The cheese enchilada was excellent and filled with melted chiuaha cheese. My guest ordered the fajitas and got an ample potion of grilled steak and grilled chicken. The chicken was a little dry but the steak was tender and deliscous. It appeared to be 4 ounces of each protein laid on top of an ample portion of tasty grilled onions and grilled red peppers. The rice was nice as was the refried beans. Unfortunately; cheese does not come on the fixings plate; however, guacamole, pico de Gallo, sour creme and shredded lettuce does. As does 3 chewy corn tortillas. Walking in there was no order to people waiting in line to be sat, people waiting for togo orders and other waiting to speak to a employee. The lobby was packed and over crowded.. once we were sat in the bar area we waited about 8-10 mins before being greeted, drinks were brought back to the table instantly. The waiter took are order. In less than 10 mins are food was out. I order a single beef enchilada, the red sauce on top had a weird taste but it was manageable. The cheese dip was good. My son had a cheese quesadilla which he enjoyed but the rice that came with it was Luke warm. The rest of my party spilt Fajitas which to them were just eh. When the Fajitas were brought out they only gave us one thing of shells, For three people to share.... our waiter checked on us once besides after we were done and waited 15 mins for him to come but just so we could get are check. We then waited another 10-15 mins just for him to return. When leaving the lobby was crammed elbow to elbow with people which is crazy when social distancing should be in place. Needless to say I was disappointed with this experience and it's doubtful I'll ever return.. read more

We have been to this location at least half a dozen times. Usually the food is above average, call it 4 out of 5 and the service is the same. Last night though was pertty bad. I had the chicken fajitas as I always do and they sucked. Chicken lukewarm and tough, obviously reheated from prior cooked. The peppers and onions were mostly the edge pieces and obviously microwaved and steaming. Beans were minimal and watery and the guac and sour cream looked as if it had sat out for a while. I had a bug fly up between me and my plate and at the time thought it was between....after reading the other review though that is a bit more in doubt. Ugh. If I wanted the full camping meal experience at least there could be a mountain or lake right there close. On the other hand great salsa and chips, but not THAT much to put up with the rest. To top it off the service was below 1 star. Like the other reviews we had Arturo. We had been sitting in a mostly empty restaurant for almost 10 minutes before he sauntered over. C'mon guy, if you are this thrilled to be employed you may as well stay home. Once the food was delivered he was as scarce as a tow truck on I70 in a snowstorm. Is this just 2 or 3 extended families that have this pkace? Put tio Arturo with his greasy looking old hippie ponytail action outside giving his Tijuana impersonation and you may have a winner...if he stuck around. Probably some of the best Mexican I have had other than my new Favorite in the CWE. The people are super nice and actually great you in Spanish and get this, are Mexican. :) I love the atmosphere and the food was really really great, I got the Lunch steak fajitas and there was a good amount of food, not too much not to little. The chips were good although I didn't eat a lot as I am watching my figure. The salsa got put on everything though, it was either fresh made or is was just that good out of a jar. The steak on the fajitas was tender and juicy, and the vegetables were fresh and delicious. I think their location could be better, mainly because I have driven by at least a thousand times and had no idea they were here. I hope to be back soon! read more

Have been wanting to try this place for a while. Arrived early 5pm on Friday and was seated promptly. Chips and salsa kind of just dropped at the table. The chips were fresh and warm. I personally was not so enamored with the salsa. I read reviews and plenty people raved about the salsa. I found it to be ok, but not rave worthy. My food arrived promptly, and was plenty hot. It was average Mexican fare at best. Don't get me wrong, I ate it all! Maybe too much, but there are PLENTY of south of the border choices in town that are on par or better. Service was great, no complaints even though it was quite busy. I just wasn't as enamored as others I guess. read more

Should I come again ABSOLUTELY but CHIMIS NEEDS TO HIRE A DEDICATED BARTENDER and it's Saturday update I ordered bean dip and what I got was bean dip in a bowl covered in 2 inches of liquid cheese, return the so called bean dip and ordered some bean dip and hold the 2 inches of liquid cheese. The guacamole is 80% vegetables I don't know is there a shortage of avocados I don't know about. I started this review, and I messed it up.. So I looked at other people's reviews and started again. I'm surprised by the reviews but understand they have had different experiences than we have had. We have been there about 3 times in the last two months. On Sunday's at lunch. Arturo is the best server (I see someone here said he was a manger, I had no clue) in St Charles county in my opinion. Out of the places we go, obviously. The food has always been good, and we really enjoy this place. I get tamales, chile rellenos and enchiladas. Chorizo burritos and kids meals have also been ordered and we always eat as much as possible. We really like the chips and salsa as well. The salsa is chunky and fresh. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is due to the prices (a bit high, but I feel worth it) and the servers. If you do not get Arturo, you may not get the quality experience he provides. He is very attentive and friendly. We have had a few other servers and they are not as polite. We will keep going back, and hopefully others will too. I personally have not found a better tasting Mexican restaurant around St Charles county. There are some that are comparable, and cheaper.. But not tasting better. And keep this in mind with the flavor, I've noticed they spice things differently than other places around. I personally like the change, but it isn't bland and typical. Well... the rice was ok. The beans didn't have the texture of real beans... suspect they were rehydrated. Had the beef burrito (my staple at tex-mex restaurants) It was way over seasoned... like the taco mix stuff bought from the supermarket. Service was poor. Always waiting for a long time (10+ minutes) for everything. Never received a water refill that was badly neesed for my salty burritos. Worst service I've ever gotten at a restaurant. They were fully staffed, not busy and it still took our server 15 min to take our food order. After that, he never even returned to ensure everything was okay. After our meal, my boyfriend had go to the hostess stand to request our bill because we waited 10 min for the server to bring it, knowing we were finished as we already requested to-go boxes.
