6/10 got the Korean BBQ chicken with noodles. The chicken itself was okay, decent flavor but nothing super memorable. The noodles, though, were not good at all. They were drenched in soy sauce to the point where it was hard to eat, way too salty and overpowering. I definitely would not order the noodles again. If you come here, I'd suggest getting rice instead. Overall, it was an okay meal, but not something I'd go out of my way for again.
Came here during my lunch time. I order the Large Bowl Combo - (Bowl, 6 wings, & drink) $20.49 4/5 stars. I choose Salad Pork Bowl with Korean BBQ Flavor bone in wings. The restaurant is on 1960 (by Willowbrook Mall area) and it looks kinda run down. But the food was good. I called to place my order and went through the drive thru for pick up. A quick and yummy lunch meals. Everything was flavorful.
I have driven by here so many times, finally decided to stop by and try it out. You walk in and orde at the counter. The restaurant itself was pretty small and they did have a lot of take out and delivery orders. The staff is nice but we did wait a while for our food. Once it arrived we did enjoy the sauce flavors and the meal overall. They do have a nice Korean flavor in their sauces but we did think that in comparison to other Korean fried chicken places the breading is not as light and airy.
So, I decided to give their bowls a try. When I walked in, no one looked up or greeted me -- I actually had to say something first. The cashier was nice, though, so points for that. But they really need to work on their customer service. Then there was the overwhelming smell of Fabuloso. It was so strong it almost made me walk right back out! I want to smell food cooking, not cleaning products -- that was a little suspect. I went ahead and ordered the combo: a large steak bowl with noodles and six wings for $22. My heart dropped when she said $27 -- like, how?! Turns out they charge $3 extra for noodles, and I regret it because they were super mushy. Should've stuck with the rice. The steak was tasty -- a little salty but flavorful. They barely give any cabbage, the kimchi portion was tiny, and it was loaded with onions. The wings were okay -- small and not enough BBQ sauce. And to top it off, the Sprite had a funky taste, like maybe the filter needs to be cleaned.
While the food was great, the customer service lacked. Seemed as if they didn't want to be there on a Sunday or at all. I kept explaining it's our first time dining here and she could care less. Customer Service Food ! Restaurant vibes were cute, clean bathrooms so I appreciated that. I ordered the steak bowl with noodles, while my husband had the pork with fried rice!! We switched back and forth sharing bowls. Food was great, although with the steak bowl, the noodles were waaay over sauced and made it hard to finish. It was too sweet for my liking. The sauce overpowered the dish.
Chimac is a nice quick restaurant that gives you a switch up from the more common options around it while also still serving up familiar favorites. If you are in the Northwest area of Houston it is definitely worth a try. I first tried Chimac back in 2019 and of the items ordered one of them was a solid hit steak bowl while the other was a complete miss chicken bowl. The bowls then were plainer and didn't come with as many items. Since then any time I've gone I've been very happy with the food I received. I by no means am an expert or even heavily versed in Korean BBQ but for the fast food/fast casual food they put out I enjoy it. The main draw of Chimac is their KBBQ bowls and most times I go there that is exactly what I get. They also offer other times such as chicken wings, chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, fried fish and shrimp and Philly cheese steak subs. Even though all these options are offered 90% of the time I'm probably getting either the Spicy KBBQ Chicken Bowl or the Korean Jerk Chicken Bowl. They also offer steak, shrimp and pork options for the bowls. The bowls can be served over either white rice, fried rice, noodles or salad. It gets topped with cabbage, grilled onions and kimchi. I'm pretty sure every time I've eaten from here I've had it over fried rice and recommend you do too. The wings aren't a stand out compared to other items they offer but they do have some cool flavors and they are good. I haven't tried their tenders or seafood but I have had the Fried Chicken Sandwich and the Philly Cheese Steak Sub. I've had the sandwich twice and the first time I had it, it was banging. I don't usually be eat tomatoes on my burgers or sandwiches but it had a green tomatoe that with the fried chicken was just fire. Now I will say the second time I had it, it was only okay so I'll need to try it a third time to see which is more typical. I only recently had the sub and it was really good. It may not stand up to a place that specializes in Phillys but for a Korean BBQ place it over delivered on what I expected. The fries are also good here. I'm pretty sure they're just frozen fries but they have a nice golden crisp on them and are much better than the frozen fries I feel like most similar places serve. I haven't tried it here but they also offer kimchi fries. This is one of those places that you might look at the menu and think they offer a lot of options but they seem to do a good job of making sure what they offer is good.
The wings were good! I got the large jerk chicken with noodles bowl and honestly I didn't taste any jerk chicken. It was just grilled chicken. The noodles were tasty, greasy, but very tasty LOL. The fried rice was good too! The service was great! Our cashier answered and patiently waited for us to order. We waited for about 15-20 minutes for our order. We will definitely be back!!
So the reviews weren't wrong, this place is dang good. It's not much to look at on the outside or the inside, but it can be true that those are some of the best places to eat. My partner and I decided to give it a shot. I got the Korean BBQ bowl and spicy Korean BBQ wings. They were absolutely mouth watering. Their prices are really reasonable as well. I would even say cheap. It's a new place, so let's just hope that they don't go down hill once the buzz of just opening goes away. I only gave 4 stars because of the small seating area and the fact that it just opened and already looks diminished on the inside. However, if you want large portions, great tasting food, and not break the bank, definitely go here. I hope they will keep a 5 star review from me next time we eat there. read more

I was craving some wings on this football Sunday and was decided to try this spot out because it was convenient location wise. My family and I decided to get the 40 piece wings (10 Mild, 10 Honey Cajun, 10 Houstonlanta BBQ, 10 Hot Lemon Pepper FRIED HARD ON ALL WINGS) for $40 (fair price). They were cooked in a timely matter (15 minutes) but the wings were NOT fried hard and all the wings lacked flavored beneath the "sauce". The chicken texture was very rubbery (the complete opposite of FRIED HARD). If someone had a taste for wings I would NOT recommend this place. It has potential to get better but they need to take more time frying the wings and actually season the chicken. I wish I could get my money back but I don't feel like dealing with the hassle on a Sunday. read more

Okay first of all this place gets a 5 just because it is a newly opened business. This place is new so I'm gonna try to keep the review as positive as possible. Since it is a newly opened business, there are some things that can be better. This place is located on 1960 by the fitness connection which is directly across the street from windfern rd. Because there isnt any big signs that show if the place was open or not, it can be easily missed. I happen to stumble upon it on my way home after passing it the first time around. walking into the restuarant I was greeted by the staff and they even took the Time to show me the menu. This place offers both a normal version as well as a spicy version of the food should you want to try. However it is item specific though, not all will have the spicy version. While waiting I was given a tour of the place and even the bathroom. The bathroom was beautiful and most importantly very clean!! After getting my to-go order I was given a sample of bbq beef to try and that was very generous of the owner, I think him for that. I ordered the spicy kbbq chicken bowl along with the philly cheesesteak. The kbbq bowl was filled with freshly grilled chicken breast and a huge portion of fried rice. The philly on the other had was a bit of a letdown. It wasnt anything out of the ordinary. Although the fried rice was a generous amount, it came out a bit bland I think if the rice was cut down a bit it would be better seasoned. The chicken was slightly burnt, the flavor was a bit lacking, it wasnt spicy at all rather the seasoning burned when grilled. The first couple of bite were okay however towards the end since it did char a bit, it tasted like a mouth full of charcoal. The meat on the philly couldnt be tasted as much, it was overpowered by the cheese, the peppers and onion did nothing to enhance the flavor. The fries that came with the philly was rather surprising as it tasted really good. The owner did give me a complimentary side of kbbq beef (bulgogi) this was one of the best Items i had on the menu, it was very tender and the flavors were very good. Sadly they dont make a spicy version of this. Overall I would say this was a decent experience, I will definitely come back and see how much they change over time. If I had to give this place a real rating I would give it a 4/5 but that's being very critical. If yall do have time , stop by this place and try the food and definitely give a feed back so then they can continue to adapt and change. read more

Done the start the restaurant was super clean. Apparently someone made a 100 burger order and they were already busy. The customer service was second to none. The young man at the counter was very courteous and helpful since it was my first time coming. I got the Korean bowl spicy option. I didn't know if I wanted a rice bowl or wings, well. . . The Korean bowl combo comes with a rice (White or fried) your choice of meat (chicken or steak) and 6 wings!! Not only that but it was super cheap for all that food!! The owners even came to greet us and ask us how the food was. The food was excellent and so was the experience! Highly recommended if you haven't been here! Definitely coming back!! read more

This place is amazing. The owner and the location give you that vibe where you would go to your friends house after school and their mom cooks the best home cooked meal but better. The Customer service is amazing. Wayyyy better than the customer service than Chic fil a. I trust my life with these employees because here I feel like they would take a bullet for me. So first glance, after driving by multiple times, it caught my eye bc of the new sign, but it's in an old raunchy building which turned me away. I decided to try it today because it's near work and the yelp photos and reviews look good! I got my order to go which may have made my experience slightly worse because I couldn't eat it fresh, although I only work 1.1miles away which is a 4 min drive..... . I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak combo with 6 wings, fries n drink. I tried the wings first, which were good bc they were hot and freshly fried. Though they don't serve them with ranch or anything, but that's ok. The cheesesteak and fries were both mediocre. They were soggy and I think they could've done a little better on the packaging. Maybe cut the corners off the styrofoam box so the steam can escape? Or even leaving the box lid open until the complete order is ready. I feel like they finished the fries and sub first and then closed them in the box and while working on the wings.. disappointed bc the fries were soggy and soaked in oil. They also forgot the jalapeños on my philly, I ordered it spicy, but I'm not that mad bc it wouldn't have really made a difference. It tasted like steakums. If you want flavor this place has it! The Spicy kbbq bowl is similar to bulgogi, and tasted awesome with fried egg on top. The Hot lemon pepper wings were my favorite, but all four flavors my wife and I tried had tons of flavor. Would definitely recommend this place read more

So I've been wanting to try this place out. The staff is super friendly and really helpful. So I ordered their spicy beef bowl with wings combo. I came home and my order was wrong made me so sad. I was really looking forward to trying out the wings and they forgot to give me my wing order and the chicken fried rice. The food that I did get were pretty good, but I'll have try the wings. So I'm actually pretty excited I found this place ! I love Korean food and from the looks of the menu they have a variety of Korean style bites that are sure to satisfy the craving and it's a fast food place ! Omg mind blown! I didn't even know anything like this existed on this side of town ! So it's decent size dinning area (from what I saw from the window as I did the drive thru) so with the drive thru it was a bit confusing as there's like and old box that I suppose worked once upon a time but is no longer in service so you pull all the way around to the window and the menu is on the side of the building and on the actual window itself. I sort of had to wait a second for someone to come to the window to take my order (I tried knocking but I assumed with the hustle and bustle of the kitchen no one heard me ) lol the young lady that came to the window had a very sweet personality ! I ordered the 10 pc wing combo with a coke and fried rice ! I decided to try the Korean bbq flavor and lemon pepper all flats ! You place your order and then park in front of the building & they bring it out to you ! Be sure to tip the runner ! Not that anyone asked for a tip but they are doing an extra service by brining the food out to you in your vehicle it's pretty much like having a waiter . The wings were pretty yummy ! I wish the Korean bbq was a little more flavorful . I wasn't a fan of the rice lol so I'll probably try onion rings next time ! read more

First time here, no regrets for sure. I'm not sure who I spoke with but he asked how I found the place. I said Yelp. This place offers affordable, delicious, no-fuss Korean fast food. We ordered wings and Korean bbq bowl, and they were flavorful. Besides their tasty food, they have excellent customer service. Oh another plus, clean restroom. You guys should check out this place. One thing to the guy I spoke with, update the sign, it still says fajitas on it. Just put KOREAN BBQ BOWL. Definitely not my last visit. read more

Tried this place, and let me tell you. I ordered their specialty, which is the Steak Bowl. It had great flavor, after adding the sauces they provide it took it to o whole other level. Great foodMy husband and I got food to go for us and our kids. We ordered the chicken salad that was great, we order the burger and french fries with a fried egg and bacon, best burger ever! We also ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl and The hot wings, I ordered the hottest hot wings that they have the owner said they were very hot I didn't agree but they were tasty. We were there about 7:30 PMThere were nit a lot of people Line when we first got there but then it got really crowded food was prepared quick and was very fresh. Do they use white breast meat?
One common thread in the reviews suggest this place may be stingy on their protein. Is that still the case or is that a "one off" sort of thing?
I have not been there in awhile. I will try it again. However, I will say that we have been there many times, and we have never had that problem. Ever.
Is there any Korean fried chicken?
Korean fried chicken is on the way recipe straight from Korea (new machines and recipe is ready) We'll bring it out once all of our front staff, kitchen, and management is at A+ service. Please be patient, it will be well worth it 🙏
Are the wings breaded or traditional style without breading?
Traditional style and have some good flavors to choose from.
How long should one expect to wait for take out or plan to dine in?
The wait is most likely not even longer than 10 minutes! But the service and food is very nice! Delicious!
