Chilly Water Taproom sits side-by-side to Hoagies & Hops on the corner of 42nd and Boulevard Place. Super easy to find if you turn North off of 38th Street onto Boulevard Place (the cross street running along Crown Hill Cemetery). Street parking is available on 42nd Street and Boulevard Place in a residential neighborhood. Chilly Water is a small taproom with a decent size bar, three regular height 4-top tables and 4 or 5 tall-top tables along with a flat screen TV over the bar. The decor is fun with their Brewery awards lining the walls from their accomplishments. They were even adding to the wall decor while we were visiting. Their beer is brewed at the Chilly Water location in Fountain Square. 10 beers are on draft with carry out offered in Growlers, Bullets and Prowler containers. Flander's Red Ale and English Brown Ale are coming soon. The bartender was nice and explained how their layout works. You see the taproom is separated by a partial wall from scrumptious Hoagies & Hops. Basically, the ordering is easy, order food and sodas from Hoagies & Hops counter (they'll deliver either side) and order alcohol from the bartender at Chilly Water. If you're 21 or older then you can sit in the bar or grab a beer and sit on Hoagies & Hops side which is family friendly. As long as your 21 or over you can hang out in the bar with or without Hoagies food. After you've ordered food you'll be given a number and they'll bring your meal to you on either side. Service and delivery is fast regardless of which side your on. Get in and out fast if need be for lunch hour or in a hurry. Beer specials run Tuesday through Thursday. Tuesday is $4 Pints of Built to Last, Wednesday is $4 Any Draft and $7 Growlers then on Thursday's are $4 Pints of Blood on the Tracks. Roll in between 3:00 - 4:00 on Tuesday through Friday and get a $1 off Hoagies and Cheesesteaks. Wednesday is $2 off Half-size cheesesteaks, Chicken or Little It's Veggie sandwiches. Double up on your beer and sandwich savings during the week! Oh, and Hoagies & Hops offer 10% off for our Hero's. Just show your ID or Badge when ordering if you're Miltary, Fire Fighter or a Police Officer. Thank you for your service!! We really enjoyed the friendly bartender, great beer, terrific service, the laid-back atmosphere and amazing food (hoagies, cheesesteaks, hot dogs and fries in our case) from Hoagies and Hops. We're already discussing our next visit. Stop in! You won't be disappointed.

Shared space with Hoagies & Hops. The patio will get a makeover this spring in time for the warmer months!

I love this first expansion of the Chilly Water Brewing Company. Same great beers that you find in Fletcher Place, but instead of dealing with a kitchen, they teamed up with Hoagies & Hops (formerly at Flat 12) to handle the food options which allows the bartender to focus on serving you beer! They have an industrial look with lots of gold and platinum records lining the walls (all with fun beer names instead of songs). The west end of the bar has glass garage doors that will open up in summer months. They are planning to give the existing patio a makeover to make it more welcoming to guests and cyclists. Right now, they have free street parking along both cross streets. I was able to grab a spot just outside on 42nd. No problem finding the place either since you can easily get here from 38th and turning onto Boulevard. And the beer is simply delicious. They have specials on some days and on Thursday, they featured a Blood Orange IPA (Blood on the Tracks 7.4%) that were going fast to customers, even at lunch time! I also tried the Dyslexic Heart (Dunkelweiss 4.9%), Good Kisser (German Kolsch 5.6%), and the One Hop Wonder (American IPA 6.9%), all of which were good. They even have a collaboration called Kiss the Sky (Hazy India Pale Lager 6.4%) that I got a sample of, but my brain fails to recall who they partnered with on this one. They were all good, so go the flight route ($8 for four 5-oz pours). The bartender was really friendly and was able to tell me a lot about the company and the plans they have for developing the place. They also have some merchandise available for those interested. Great combo of beer and on site food. The next time you are in the area, give them a try! Review #2233

Chilly water is conveniently located near Butler University. Great spot for a pre or post game drink. They are attached to Hoagies and Hops. The inside is small and cozy with high top chairs. They offer wine, cider, and beer. The beer is brewed in the Fountain Square area. Also the cider is local and some of the wine is from Indiana. The inside area has a garage door which is great for the summer to extend out to the patio area. They were soft music in the background. I do wish they offered some tabletop games or something else.

We stopped in for beer and apps and were not disappointed! We tried the veggie quesadilla, French fries, and beer cheese. Everything was delish! We definitely will back to try more options. We each got a flight, and there's a deal in the tasting society for Indiana on tap!

They had the door open, which was letting in the fresh almost-spring air.) Drinks are pretty much all they have at Snug, to be honest. Don't visit thinking you're going to find a meal, because they don't have a lot of food beyond locally made hand pies and empanadas, a grazing board, and something called Snug Nuts. (Which brings to mind certain ... images.) I didn't get any food, just a Road & Coke, which is a whiskey with a Coke and lime, similar to a Cuba libre, although a Cuba uses rum. It was delicious, but a little light on the booze. It was only $5 and change, though, so it's kind of like what do you expect, really. It was a nice drink to sip slowly while I sat in the small, cozy bar. Speaking of bar aesthetics: Snug lives up to its name. It's tiny and dark but inviting. It feels like stepping into a hug. A hug that can also provide you with copious amounts of Irish whiskey, which sounds like the best kind of hug, to me.

Small, little, somewhat burnt, STEAMING HOT, not-so-buttery and not-so-cajun-ish corn on the cobs. Next we have the chicken. I would've rather grown a chicken, killed it for some wings, made a hat with its feathers and made sensory toys with its eyes The buns were probably the best part. The lettuce was cut smaller than you could ever imagine, the chicken had a good amount but tasted like it was drowned in Franks Red Hot Sauce. The tomato was a tomato This isn't all the restaurant though. The other times I visited here were AMAZING The times I sat in the big room were good because, there were TVs to save my boredom, the built in chargers were neat, and the food was just better! BRING BACK THE TVS THAT SHOW WHAT MUSIC IS PLAYING PLS Thank you for listening to me yap!

The AVG is definitely a neighborhood tavern. It's cozy and very laid back with high top tables. I ordered an Old Fashioned but mixed drinks weren't really on offer unless it was something like rum and coke. I had a beer. It was fine. We were there for about an hour and a half. I would definitely return. The vibes were slow paced. We moved on to The Checkered Flag. Wowza!! It was a Thursday night but the place was hopping. We were joined by another friend with plans to have a bite to eat. The menu is unbelievable. So much to choose from. We were kind of boring because 3 of us chose the same thing and the other two chose the same item. Two had the pork tenderloin. Both agreed it was excellent. Three of us had the BBQ Pork spud. It's a giant baked potato with butter, a good spread of pimento cheese, moist pulled pork, BBQ sauce, coleslaw and green onions. It was fantastic. Normally the pork can become a bit dry. This was not the case. Cooked perfectly. I was able to order the Old Fashioned. They apologized because they were out of oranges but I was fine. It was a very good drink. There happened to be two musicians performing. I was quite impressed. This tavern was very very impressive. We all agreed to return Our final stop was Herrmann. It's a small brewery tucked away off a quiet street. We were offered several tastings of the beers on offer. We were all able to find something to our liking. I had a porter. There are tables for four spread around the seating area. It's comfortable and definitely a neighborhood haunt. All three places were definitely neighborhood taverns. The Checkered Flag was hands down the best! Indy has so much to offer!
