The Retro Hotel is an interesting and energizing experience, so why should the restaurant be any different? I love love love the service here. The servers all are super positive and seem to have great personalities. The menu is pretty diverse and the monthly themes with weekly specials are a fantastic touch. That being said the execution on the food is usually a little short of great. It seems like something is often just a little off. Coconut shrimp? Cooked 1 minute too long Creamy Parmesan Salmon pasta? Way too much Parmesan to the cream yields a very butter aftertaste. Butter chicken poutine? Dry chicken When they do hit it right the flavors are really solid. I'll usually come back when I'm traveling because the servers are so excellent. I had supper tonight at the Chilled Cork. I ordered the pork chop special with tomato scalloped potatoes. Brittanie, my server, started me with yummy rolls and butter. A starter also came with the meal, either soup or salad. I chose the Mexican chicken and rice soup. It was hearty and delicious! Though I'd asked for no veggies or mushrooms, the meal came with both so I scraped them to the side. The pork chop was very good! I love scalloped potatoes and have never had them with tomatoes. These weren't scalloped potatoes as there was no cream. They were roasted potatoes with tomato sauce on top and weren't very good :( I was craving something sweet so ordered the warm chocolate cake. Wow I was kind of lost and hungry so I check Yelp and found that place! It is wonderful the decor is great, the food was perfect. The server is a work of art, speaks 4 languages and offer me something not on the menu filets mignon with Gorgonzola sauce and I asked them to make me my favorite pasta on the side and they did. I usually don't go for five stars but they hit the target big time. Getting lost, is half the fun in life. read more

I came to Chatham on business. When I asked the people at the hotel where I could go for dinner, Chilled Cork was actually not one of the restaurants they listed...but it should be. Chilled Cork is a wonderfully lit restaurant in what looked to be Chatham's downtown area. Now, given I went on a Tuesday night so it wasn't packed but I'd still like to say that the service was great. I couldn't decide between the perch and the the Tagliatelle pasta so I asked my waiter who said that he was a fan of the pasta so that's what I went with. The waiter (I wish I'd caught his name) told me he was a fan of the blue cheese cream sauce on the pasta and I have to agree that it was great. And for those that aren't a fan of blue cheese, if someone at your table orders this dish, I'd still recommend you try it. The pungent taste of blue cheese (which I actually enjoy) was toned down so that it didn't overpower all the other flavors in the dish. It was a generous portion of pasta but since I couldn't take it with me, I managed to eat almost all of it. I didn't regret it until I heard the waiter telling the table next to mine the dessert options. Next time... They also have a decent size wine list. I think my only complaint would be that many of the wine options came only by the bottle and not by the glass. I wasn't sure that I'd be able to expense (or drink) and entire bottle so I just chose a Cabernet that came by the glass. I only have one night left in Chatham and I'd like to see if I can find another gem of a restaurant while I'm here but I'm tempted to go back to Chilled Cork to try this molten chocolate cake that was mentioned! read more

In town for the week and had seen this place pop on a couple of food sites. Seemed to have very positive reviews so I had figured I'd save it for the last meal before I had left. Man, I wished I had eaten here every night. It was great. Very neat decor and atmosphere, amazing menu, very fresh and healthy selections, and great service. Nice modern diner style restaurant. We took the regular breakfast and it is a good deal but the coffe is not inclued, so it is not that cheap at the end. But the fried potatoe where good and crispy, and that's something ! read more

My wife and I were Married in the banquet hall at The Retro-Suites Hotel . The venue was amazing and the food was catered by The Chilled Cork. The food was excellent and all of our guest raved that this was the most beautiful venue that had attended. My wife and I have been to the Chilled Cork for each of our anniversaries as well as for Valentine's Day . We also frequent for a Sunday breakfast . The atmosphere is great and the food is always top notch ! Highly recommend a stop here to visitors to chatham and a stay at The Retro-suites Hotel. read more

Lots of snooty attitude, little selection. My Mom's Church group booked it for a dinner for 50 women. They FORGOT the entrees (all the same - Ham) Just came around with more weed salad (mesclun), pretending not to hear questions about when the entree was arriving. I sat for a half an hour after being seated & given a drink. I was waiting for someone that wasn't able to make it and I had a reservation for two. I wasn't addressed again until I left. On my way out, I found hotel staff who listened to my complaint, but then did nothing to address the problem other than to take my contact information and make me feel like I didn't belong there in the first place. Oh and Emel..the next time you are in the Chatham area .....go try Zee's Bistro on St Clair Street, the food is wonderful and they use fresh local ingredience . Also the wine list is great with a lot of local wines that are very very nice!!! Very small restaurant but very quaint with lot of charm!!! It is a must try!!! read more

We were headed home from Indiana to Belleville and were determined to avoid gross fast food at the On Route. A Yelp search brought us here. Glad it did. The space, in the Retro Suites Hotel, is very cool. Our server, Mauro, was prompt and friendly and attentive to our newborn son! We ordered 3 of the American Grilled Cheese Burger specials (a bit steep for some maybe at 19 bucks each) which featured a burger on two toasted grilled cheese sandwiches. It was great. The other in our party had a Lamb Burger which was also great. Burgers could have been cooked a bit less but well done burgers are sadly the norm in our Ontario nanny state. Still they were tasty even if it was dubiously dubbed "Kobe" beef which I doubt it actually was (or even Wagyu for that matter but it was tasty regardless). Ok selection of beer (we had Mill Street) but a draft tap or two would round things. Overall, a pleasant diversion from the highway and we'd happily return! read more
