We drove for a few minutes in country time (20 minutes or so in the rest of the worlds time)... and we ended up at the most incredible cider house and orchard. Because we are fast approaching Halloween, the orchard was littered with pumpkins and halloween paraphernalia. Upon entering into the store, you are overwhelmed with fabulous candles, jams and kitschy country decorations. The second floor is what intrigued me.... Cider, Apple wine, (cysers) and delicious apple ice wine. The winemaker / cider maker here did a fabulous job of making a flavourful, dry fruit wine. And the price is great. Mind you I am a manager in the restaurant industry.. I understand it gets busy.... VERY busy at times. We forget and make mistakes at times... My bartender MATT was so caught up serving his regulars that he forgot I existed... I stayed patient.... Very patient..... so much so that the new customers being served were telling him that I had been there before they were.... I have been to wrigleys center before.. but when I'm first at the rail, and my sister, father, cousin, friend, girlfriend, etc.. gets served before me...(WHEN I HAVE BEEN SITTING THERE BEFORE ANY OF THEM) it's upsetting to most... I speak up to MATT... and say, " Sir, I've been waiting 25 minutes plus.. what's going on?,". And in response he replies, " you act like everybody here hasn't been waiting the same amount of time..,". And he walks away.. I don't want to seem needy or conceited. But rotation is ROTATION! You have a SECTION of the BAR you're supposed to SERVE. I watched this bartender serve my aunt, because she called his name a million times, I watched him serve his friends from outside of work... I watched him WALK PAST ME to serve another woman who walked up 15 minutes after me.... Even she was questionable about why he did something like that... he says in response, "OH!....I am getting them next!". HE NEVER DID..... This place is really awesome. From the moment you walk in the door you feel like you're home. The people at the front counter were super nice, very chatty, and just overall great at making me feel like I had just come home from a long trip. They have a great breakfast area. Put plenty of seating, they have 24-hour coffee machines, they have a gym, and a a free... Free... Yes I said free... Guest laundromat. The rooms are neat, tidy and comfortable, and really a pleasure to stay in. I was in one of the extended stay suites, and found it to be absolutely perfect. It felt like a nice studio apartment and that worked out fine for my stay as I had work to do while I was here. They have a great breakfast in the mornings, and super nice people working those breakfasts. In fact, I can say with much authority that everybody here has been almost over the top nice. Again, one of the reasons I love Canada. Bottom line? I will absolutely stay here again next year, this is perfectly located and absolutely comfortable after a long day of working. You would do well to check this place out.

Very disappointing experience at Holiday Inn Chatham…read more I arrived on September 16 expecting to check into my confirmed reservation for September 16-17 at $180 plus tax. Instead, the hotel system showed September 17-18 at $255 plus tax. I showed my original reservation details, but the issue was not resolved. Front desk employee Tiffany Gagne told me she did not know what happened and that I would have to wait until the next morning to speak with the manager. Rather than resolving the issue, I was left to find another hotel at the last minute, resulting in additional expense and significant stress. What made the experience worse was how I felt I was treated at the front desk. I felt dismissed and embarrassed in front of other guests while trying to explain the reservation discrepancy, and I did not feel that my concerns were taken seriously. I booked Holiday Inn expecting my reservation to be honoured and reasonable assistance if something went wrong. Instead, I was left without accommodation for the night and forced to deal with the financial and personal consequences. I hope Holiday Inn investigates what happened to my original reservation and addresses both the reservation failure and the way this situation was handled by Tiffany Gagne. This experience seriously damaged my confidence in the hotel and the brand.
