I was pleasantly surprised that the Poe theme is clever and subtle rather than overly cheesy. The décor has more of an antique bookstore feel, with fun Poe inspired names throughout the menu. Despite the theme, there's nothing dark or dreary about this place. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the service was prompt. Our waiter was friendly and had some great recommendations. The soup sampler was easily the highlight for me. I've never seen anything like it before! I tried the baja chicken enchilada, mushroom with brie cheese, beef chili with beans, and the special of the month potato curry. I ranked them from favorite to least favorite, but honestly, everything was delicious in its own way. My drink and sandwich with a side of potato salad was very tasty! I finished the whole thing! If you're a Poe fan, the witty menu names will definitely make you smile. The food is good, portions are satisfying, and the prices are reasonable. I'd absolutely come back if I'm ever in the area again to try more of the menu.

The entrance is on the corner with 2 doors to get in, the door we used had a small step up and I believe the 2nd door may be more accessible for people with mobility challenges. Inside was spacious and his/ hers 1 seater restrooms that could accommodate mobility equipment (wheelchairs or walkers). Pricing was 2/4 $$, and appropriate for the high quality homemade meals you'll enjoy. We were even able to get coffee to go and enjoyed during our drive home to Dearborn! I highly recommend Maria's for a great experience and will definitely be back!
