This is a quaint small town. Looks like a ma and pa type family restaurant. When we walked in, they told us to seat ourselves at any of the open booths, and the seating places had those placemats that have advertising on them. I got the veggie omelette and it came with Swiss cheese (a little too much for my taste) and a variety of vegetables, but it was interesting how it looked like it was shaped in a machine. I didn't get the potatoes that came with it but the toast was fine. My friend got a combination meal, and instead of the toast, he could get biscuits and gravy, but he wanted toast with the biscuits and gravy so instead of charging him for an extra order of toast, which I would've done, they charged him for an extra order of biscuits and gravy. He said the gravy tasted like too much flour was in it, but the rest of the meal was OK. The prices were very reasonable, and nowadays that's hard to find.

love this spot I would move to Port Huron in one second if I could leave this awful place called Ontario. They have great eggs, great coffee, great pancake. But what's with the $3.99 for that little fruit plate !!!??

Stopped in while in town with a friend and amazing as ever! Little ol dinner feel which you can never go wrong with! We decided to share since we were both craving a little sweet and salty! The server was so kind and let us order one egg scrambled and one egg over easy! She was prompt, fast and to the point which is what I look for! Food was all cooked to protection and the crepes where exactly what we wanted with fresh fruit, Nutella, nuts, chocolate syrup and whip cream! Great breakfast at a great price!

Wait to Order: (5 of 5) -Check In... Seated immediately upon walking into the restaurant. -Waitstaff... Our waitress greeted us at the table and took our drink orders. Restaurant Cleanliness: (5 of 5) -Outside... Clean and well kept -Inside... Very clean -Table... Clean, There were placemats (with local advertisements) and the silverware was wrapped in a napkin. -Restroom... Did not visit the restroom Atmosphere: (5 of 5) -Inside... The inside had an old school dinner feel mixed with the inside of a ship with a portal. Table: (4 of 5) -Service... Our waitress checked on our table many times and refilled our water and coffee. She did miss on the "Rye Toast" I ordered and brought "White Toast". Food: (4 of 5) -Presentation... The food looked really good when it came to the table. It was plated in the standard, eggs, bacon, hash-browns and toast. Same with my wife's order of scrambled eggs and French toast. -Taste... Eggs were good, Hash-browns were crispy on the outside but lacked some flavor, Bacon was well done... too well done, Toast was toasted, Scrambled Eggs were cooked med/well, French Toast was also cooked med/well. -Texture... The food was hot... again the Hash-browns needed a little more flavor and the bacon needed to be less cooked. Menu Prices: (5 of 5) -Our bill for 2 Eggs & French Toast, 2 Eggs, Hash Browns, Bacon & Toast, Coffee was $13.49. This is 1/2 of what we pay for the same food in Kalamazoo MI. Overall great price! Overall: (4.5 of 5) -I really wanted to give this place a 5 but the bacon was way overdone and the hash browns needed a little flavoring. So I'm going with a 4.5 in the review but Yelp only allows a 4 or a 5 and given I ordered rye toast but received white toast I am going to submit a 4 as the review. But definitely give this cute little place a try.

I was looking for a quick breakfast before crossing over to Sarnia. Glad I chose to have my breakfast at Maria's Downtown Cafe. I ordered the S.S Shroom omelette with hash browns. It was very good. They also do a good job of keeping your coffee cup full all the time. I would go back if I'm ever in the area again.

Sautéed veggies just dropped on top of American Fries... no flavor what so ever.
    Amie G.

Asked if they could make American fries with peppers and onions... adds flavor. Didn't ask to please sauté veggies and plop them down on already made potatoes. No flavor what so ever and I'm paying more! Omelette is folded over and everything falls out... ugh Why oh why do it the lazy way? I didn't eat one bite. Waitress didn't ask if everything was okay until she saw me take this picture. She had already come by asking if I wanted a box. Another waitress said something to my boyfriend and gave us 10% off the bill when he was paying. We just know this isn't the place for us. He usually loves everything but only had half of one-half of his sandwich and a few fries (which are not good either). He took it home and hoped someone would eat it... no one did.

Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of the building, the upstairs seating area is only accessible by stairs. Quaint, charming café that serves lunchtime treats, coffee, and pastries. The hot cocoa is divine! I really like the literary/"dark academia" vibes and decor, as well as the many cute birdie knick-knacks roosting about the space. Service was friendly and unrushed, I felt free to linger and enjoy at my leisure. I will make it a point to stop in here whenever I pass through Port Huron! I dropped in during the week and there was zero-wait for a table, although I imagine the place probably bustles on weekends!

But the wiatress confidently told me that they only had the soups listed on the menu, until I took a picture of the board, and she asked kinda rudely if I wanted to change my order. But no aknoledgment of her error. I aksed about the total amount of soup in the sampler versus the meal size because i was hoping to try different soups as my meal. But no one could tell me other than by usig their hands how big the portions were. I ordered the mushroom brie soup. It was bland. Icould not detect the Brie from the cream that was added and based on the brown color there likely wasn't much brie. It was very salty to the point that I couldn't eat much of it.

By my local standards, Bridges would rate closer to 3.5 stars. However, the excellent service that I received from both here and the hotel (and almost without exception - see below), is sometimes worth the round up. Our audit group ate here twice, both times on a Sunday evening for fellowship and planning out the upcoming week. I enjoyed the menu choices (especially the french onion soup) and their somewhat limited selection of Canadian wine. The dining room itself was spacious and comfortable and I thought that the table service was friendly, engaging, and prompt. At one point, they even provided free munchies for our meeting room that we needed before dinner. The only exception regarding service was in the lounge. The server was a little short with us in general and unsuccessfully tried to "deputise" me when one of my Canadian colleagues left the lounge area along with his drink. I'd like to think that for her, it was just a "one off". I kindly waived her off and gave her a good tip anyway.

This is a cozy, no-frills place with quite a few booths (that are comfy!) and a high ornate roof. I…read morelike that the tables were not cluttered close together and so it would be a great, not-too-noisy place for conversation and working. However, some of the booth seats seemed a little old and torn, and the window area by the booth seemed a little dusty, like it could be neatened up more often. Other than that, we really liked this place though. First, the service was warm and excellent. The staff were great at answering questions about the menu and giving recommendations. Next, the chocolate butter tart was excellent! There are two options of butter tarts (a particularly Canadian treat), a plain one and a chocolate one. Having consulted a server, they highly recommended the chocolate butter tart for chocolate-lovers. The tart sides were delicious, and similar in texture to an egg tart. The inside was gooey and almost like chocolate sauce with a rich buttery base. The inside sauce really reminded me of a Chinese bun we love in Singapore, the liu sha bao or salted egg yolk custard bun. All in all, I highly recommend the chocolate tart for a small but punchy pop of decadence, and it goes perfect to complement with a cup of coffee. Other than that, the peppermint latte was wonderfully decorated according to my peppermint-loving friend (although another said it was definitely on the sweet side). Meanwhile, although my plain latte did not have the best latte art, staff proactively offered to add a variety of powdered toppings (cinnamon, cocoa and nutmeg) that put a smile to my face. All in all, it's a great place to chill and relax if you're not too fussy about everything being perfectly spic and span. As I said to my friends, sipping my coffee with my chocolate butter tart, "this is the life!"
