This is my third visit, and although my eggs last time were overcooked, (could of been the way I ordered) I've never had a bad breakfast here yet. This time, I wasn't as hungry, so I just had oatmeal with raisins and walnuts. Their coffee is a regular Joe, and they also have an old-school cappuccino machine. Typical diner for your casual breakfast and lunch options. Unfortunately, they do not have many vegetarian items and we had to modify a breakfast skillet to make it vegetarian. We wanted to give this place a try as we are in the Port Huron area often. The service was a bit slow as they were extremely busy. We didn't have to wait for a table and the food came extremely fast. This is a quaint small town. Looks like a ma and pa type family restaurant. When we walked in, they told us to seat ourselves at any of the open booths, and the seating places had those placemats that have advertising on them. I got the veggie omelette and it came with Swiss cheese (a little too much for my taste) and a variety of vegetables, but it was interesting how it looked like it was shaped in a machine. I didn't get the potatoes that came with it but the toast was fine. My friend got a combination meal, and instead of the toast, he could get biscuits and gravy, but he wanted toast with the biscuits and gravy so instead of charging him for an extra order of toast, which I would've done, they charged him for an extra order of biscuits and gravy. He said the gravy tasted like too much flour was in it, but the rest of the meal was OK. The prices were very reasonable, and nowadays that's hard to find. read more

The mark of a good place is one that can provide you with a decent burger I got one here with all the Fixin's, and it hit the spot I ordered it medium and lo and behold. It arrived medium. The fries didn't compel me to keep stuffing them in my mouth but that small potatoes. (Get it?) Service was fast. The place was clean, and the menu had just enough of what you might want. Beware if trying to do a good deed. Went to Maria's Downtown Port Huron. Asked if they give the Port Huron Police Officer's 50% off. Manager says yes. I offer to pick up the bill for 2 police officers. Manager charges me the full amount. It shouldn't matter who pays for the police officer's meal. They should have been happy for them instead of them.Having to pay fifty percent, they had to pay zero percent. When asked about why the full charge, she said that is how we do it. So greedy. went in 5/10 ordered 3 orders of there "crepes" 30$ worth ordered to go and when i got home all 3 of us took literally one bite and didnt eat another tried to called and talk to the Manager amanda but was told she would call me but never did these crepes were terrible they were cold and tasted literally like cardboard they even fell apart like a piece of cardboard they were tasteless and just all around nasty I was hoping to order something different but basically im out 30$ and thats okay because word to mouth is key in a small business in such a small town! Stopped in while in town with a friend and amazing as ever! Little ol dinner feel which you can never go wrong with! We decided to share since we were both craving a little sweet and salty! The server was so kind and let us order one egg scrambled and one egg over easy! She was prompt, fast and to the point which is what I look for! Waitress didn't ask if everything was okay until she saw me take this picture. She had already come by asking if I wanted a box. This was our second trip here, our first visit was wonderful. No issues whatsoever. Today is a different story. 2 stars for the food only, it was delicious once I received the right order. Waitress was nice at first but she misheard my order and when my husband got up to ask for the correct item, she said that I actually ordered a different item. He said no, she ordered this and I was there to hear it - he was very kind about it, we aren't unpleasant people in the slightest and are always extremely appreciative of service workers. She came and took my plate away and the correct order came out a few minutes later, which was delicious. But when we went to the register to pay, we got unkind looks from the cook and the other waitresses - which signaled to us that our waitress was spreading the word to the staff about the order mixup. We get that mistakes happen and sometimes the wrong order is received, but there was no reason to be treated the way we were when we were nothing but kind. As good as the food was and as much as we prefer to support local businesses, the waitress misheard what was ordered and decided to be unkind about it so we will not be returning. read more

The food here is pretty tasty but it is really greasy. I had the skillet and hubby had the eggs meat and hash-browns. Before leaving the restaurant I started getting heart burn and indigestion, and had to rush home and use the bathroom feeling sick to my stomach the whole car ride. The waitresses were friendly and the service was fast, if your stomach can handle greasy food then this isn't a bad place to stop but unfortunately I don't think we will return. read more

I stopped off here to visit with my friend for breakfast yesterday. This is a nice place for breakfast and lunch. As I am not a pork fan, I like that I could have a Mexican omelette, and my friend had the Greek omelette with gyro meat. I had cinnamon toast with mine, which was unique. Our food tasted fine. The staff overall seemed friendly. From what I hear from my sister who works at a local retailer where they order some food supplies, the owner is a very nice person. I prefer supporting locally owned, non chain restaurants in town. It's a place I can really only frequent on the weekend due to the limited schedule, but a nice destination downtown, and one of the only early options on Saturday as most places don't open til 10 while they are open at 7. They have a solid selection of sandwiches and breakfasts as well as other good choices for entrees similar to other family style restaurants in the area. You pay have to park in the back as they usually stay busy, which is a good thing. read more

Friendly staff and tasty soup!! This was the first time I have ever seen Reuben Soup on the menu so with today being St. Patrick's Day it seemed to be the perfect day to try some. Finely chopped up corned beef, tiny bits of pickle and shreds of sauerkraut too... all swimming in a mildly cheesy broth. I'm not sure if this is how all bowls of this soup are supposed to taste, but in the future, when another bowl of Reuben Soup is placed in front of me, it will be compared to this one. Good stuff... The Port Huron area is blessed with a number of locally owned places that turn out a great breakfast. This is our favorite in downtown. it's right across the street from McMorran Auditorium. Maria and George became the new owners of this place, formerly called Tony's Food Paradise, in March 2015, bringing years of restaurant experience. Maria's three-egg omelette is a huge amount of food, but you can order it with two eggs instead (and still get plenty to eat). The French toast is delightful. The fruit plate better than ordinary. You'll find some innovative choices on the menu. The service is friendly and attentive. You can't go wrong choosing Maria's Downtown Cafe for breakfast. And probably for lunch, too, though we haven't tried it yet. read more

This was a terrible experience. The waitress was rude after I said my chicken was so touch I couldn't chew it! (I got the chicken philly sub). She just looked at me? Then my husband said to her just bring a to go box and he would eat it tomorrow! I had him try it and he never complains and said yes it is very touch like rubber. Then I ordered a Greek salad with Raspberry vinaigrette dressing. I figured they couldn't mess this up! They did, they put sour balsami vinaigrette dressing on it. Plus that it was in clumps not even any on the lettuce. The waitress came back and asked how it was. I told her the dressimg was not right and she walked away.
