This is a cozy, no-frills place with quite a few booths (that are comfy!) and a high ornate roof. I like that the tables were not cluttered close together and so it would be a great, not-too-noisy place for conversation and working. However, some of the booth seats seemed a little old and torn, and the window area by the booth seemed a little dusty, like it could be neatened up more often. Other than that, we really liked this place though. First, the service was warm and excellent. The staff were great at answering questions about the menu and giving recommendations. Next, the chocolate butter tart was excellent! There are two options of butter tarts (a particularly Canadian treat), a plain one and a chocolate one. Having consulted a server, they highly recommended the chocolate butter tart for chocolate-lovers. The tart sides were delicious, and similar in texture to an egg tart. The inside was gooey and almost like chocolate sauce with a rich buttery base. The inside sauce really reminded me of a Chinese bun we love in Singapore, the liu sha bao or salted egg yolk custard bun. All in all, I highly recommend the chocolate tart for a small but punchy pop of decadence, and it goes perfect to complement with a cup of coffee. Other than that, the peppermint latte was wonderfully decorated according to my peppermint-loving friend (although another said it was definitely on the sweet side). Meanwhile, although my plain latte did not have the best latte art, staff proactively offered to add a variety of powdered toppings (cinnamon, cocoa and nutmeg) that put a smile to my face. All in all, it's a great place to chill and relax if you're not too fussy about everything being perfectly spic and span. This place isn't too bad, but I found it very expensive, considering the quality, the breakdast sandwiches are served from frozen eggs shipped and then thawed out, the coffee is good but waaaaaay overpriced, it's $5.25 for a brownie for Pete sake which I am almost sure is not made in house. With the decor being as stunning as it is you would not expect almost everything comes in frozen and reheated, there is no freshness, or passion or pride really really in what they serve, I would never buy frozen eggs and buy them in to sadly overpriced them and serve them to customers who really have no idea. However despite everything I said there is 1 saving grace where if you go in after 9-10pm you can buy select baked goods for $1.00 per item, now that's what I expect to pay for a dessert that has been brought in frozen and reheated. read more

It's weird when existential age and literal decomposition meet. Legit. Two things tho: A staircase and a stage above the freakin front door also a urinal (of course in the bathroom) same height, adult urinal, that one could sit upon and with enough weight bearing to pull one's knees to chest, also flush ed apparatus. This is more than a coffee shop! It's a bakery, soup & sandwich shop, specialty dessert shop & of course, a cafe with specialty coffees & tea. I absolutely love that it's locally owned & that the owners are often in the shop working as well. I can see that they appreciate their staff very much! Yes it's a little pricier than the competition, but the atmosphere, the foods & the service makes it worth the extra few cents. If you think that the competition doesn't bring in some foods "frozen" think again. Fast food has become the norm & some things cant be cooked fresh while you wait with 20 people behind you, which in this restaurant is often the norm! Admittedly I am a huge Starbucks fan and I rarely go other places. However, today it wasn't possible to get to Starbucks so I had to explore other options. So we went here instead. Overall I have to say I'm impressed! The food was delectable. Had a egg and cheese on an English muffin (basically an egg mcmuffin but with real food), a red velvet muffin and a raspberry lemonade chiller. All of which were amazing. The muffin was out of this world delicious, the chiller was so refreshing and the English muffin was filling! They also have wifi!!! Why am I so excited about this? Because it is so RARE in sarnia it's like the hope diamond! Really great experience with outstanding service! They have a case with all sorts of delicious looking treats as well (had I had the time and money, and the desire to pack on 300 pounds I would've tried them all!) Highly recommend! Only thing that stopped me from giving a 5 star rating is, getting inside with a stroller, not super easy, especially on your own; and there was no power outlets (that I could find) for my laptop (which silly me I forgot to charge-my bad)! Otherwise it's a great place, decently priced but a bit more expensive than Tim Hortons (but you get what you pay for!) great atmosphere, great staff and delicious food! read more
