We've been here before but always make a stop when we're out this way. A bit cold for ice cream, but it's sooo good (and they have a wood stove heating things up)! One caveat: the tips are designated for an affiliated church unless you specifically want to tip your server. We were in area for Mothers Day and my crew wanted ice cream. Found this place on yelp. Super fun shop. Imagine they are crazy busy on weekends and summer. Line moved quick. Nice signage to explain menu choices. You order at ice cream counter and then move to coffee counter where you can order drinks or just pay. Indoor and outdoor seating. Seems connected to a church. Bathrooms beautiful and many places to sit from high tops to couches to tables inside to picnic tables outside. They are known for their life cream tacos so we tried 2 which were ig enough to split. We ordered the Dirt Road and Coffee Toffee Crunch. Apparently they are $7 on taco Tuesdays ;). Super delicious and high quality ice cream. We also ordered a pour over with cream. They forgot the cream but with ice cream I decided I didn't need it. Pour overs take a bit but then even longer bc they were so busy. So the timing of it with ice cream was off and I wish I hadn't ordered it. No way to get seating and then be called back so I just stood there while my family dug into tacos. Glad they saved some for me! Highly recommend and definitely would go back. read more

This place has thee best, homemade ice cream and the flavor choices are equally amazing. I had lemon bar cheesecake and carrot cake, each were so flavorful and lots of "bits" in them. A single is actually 2 scoops, offering a chance to try 2 flavors; a double is 3 scoops and the young man informed me, "You get 2 scoops of whichever flavor you want more of." I asked him to give me "equal portions of both." My sister had S'mores which while tasty was sweeter than expected, I believe due to base ice cream flavor was marshmallow. The butter pecan was, "very good but could've had more pecans in it." But we also Love pecans so too many isn't really enough for us, lol! We also enjoyed a latte with ice cream, we got decaf and they were wonderful together. The layout of the business is big, with big tent outside a picnic table seating, indoor seating for about 20-30 people to right as you enter and in the back a few random tables. The staff were very pleasant and service oriented, greeting customers upon entering and giving some special attention to the younger customers making them very happy! Prices were $$ for ample servings, depending on your love of ice cream 2-3 people could share a double. Plus due to the high quality + amount of ingredients it can be rich/ indulgent and your tummy will appreciate that you shared. It's definitely worth the drive/ time / effort to get there, so make sure you go! read more

Yum! I was craving ice cream with hot fudge and came across Milkhouse Cafe on Yelp. This place is more than just your average ice cream place. They also have speciality coffees and shopping area. In fact, they are in the middle of a remodel that will include a brick oven for pizza. Next time I'm in town I want to go back and check the place out better. One of my favorite ice cream brands is served here - Ashby's. With so many choices it wasn't easy, but I decided on a two scoop sundae with Pot Hole and Cool Mint Cookie topped with hot fudge and pecans. It totally hit the spot and the price did too. For under $4 I got the deliciousness pictured below and I enjoyed every bite. One of the things I found most unique about this place is they served my ice cream in a glass dish with a metal spoon. This was pretty impressive and make the experience more enjoyable. Looking forward to going here again. Maybe next time I will have pizza first! read more

We are from the Sterling Heights area, we were traveling up to Port Huron to go check out the lighthouse and decided to stop for some ice cream after we ate at Casey's sub shop. We are so glad that we did end up stopping at your house café the portion size was unbelievable for the price and both of our desserts were fantastic. They had a large tent set up Outside because of the whole Covid situation. But even with a tent up it looked really nice and set off a nice atmosphere. I got the banana split an my wife got the brownie delight, both were amazing. I highly recommend going here for a great treat !!! read more

Oh em gee. This is the kind of ice cream place that is so "Pure Michigan" you cant pass by without stopping. Not only is their ice cream delicious, creamy, and sweet (everything that ice cream should be), the unique offerings made it super difficult to choose. I ended up eating more ice cream than I normally do just because I needed more of a taste of a couple flavors I sampled. The employees are friendly and the back story of this place makes it an even better atmosphere. I went for the Mackinac Fudge and the Michigan Pothole. Both were delicious as were the other flavors I tasted and my companions ate. We're all fans now. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area for another day trip. read more

We did the pigpen challenge! One of the employees sat with us while we did the challenge and he was amazing! He played theme music and cheered us on. The ice cream was amazing and the whole experience was great! I come home every year for vacation I will be returning to this place. It should be on everyone's list of favorites! The ice cream flavor variety was great and the different names of the ice creams fit with the Michigan state. All the staff was super friendly and the store was clean. We got to pick the size and color of our shirts we won after we finished the challenge. read more

The ice cream is good, the prices are real high... The little Michigan Shop in downtown Port Huron by the bridge, has all the old London Dairy ice cream flavors and far less expensive, plus you're in downtown opposed to driving out in the middle of no where! BFE! read more

Cute dairy farm turned ice cream shop with lots of great flavor options. My favorite flavor was blueberry pie by far and blue moon was a close second. The portion sizes are huge so the best option would be to get kids scoop for a dollar so that way you can get two or three scoops to try different flavors for under $3! It had lots of seating areas both inside and out so it can accommodate bigger groups as well. The ladies that were working inside were very patient with indecisive kids and adults alike. So good! We went here for the first time tonight and we were not disappointed. A huge variety of ice cream flavors, it was difficult narrowing it down to just one. I was sold once I saw carrot cake..I mean it was CARROT CAKE! Very reasonable prices and extremely friendly staff. If you're anywhere near this area, do yourself a favor and stop in. Great service. Friendly people. Delicious ice cream. So many flavors. (I just discovered the Mackinac fudge. Yum.) A "single" in a delicious waffle cone is really two scoops for less than $4. Lots of parking. Nice crowd. Saw a family of six go in at 8:58p and they were greeted with smiles despite a posted closing time of 9p. Open on hot days and cool nights. Just a must-visit for ice cream lovers. My only wish: That they would use paper cups and little wood spoons vs. styrofoam and plastic. read more

Every summer, our family makes the trek to Port Huron to visit with relatives, and every year we search for a place to do some work -- the right combination of comfortable seating, good coffee, fast and reliable wifi, and ambience. Finally, Milkhouse to the rescue. Bonus points for delicious ice cream flavors including two versions of mint chocolate chip, three varieties of cookie dough, and the best peanut butter chocolate swirl ever. A shelf full of board games invites visitors stay awhile. I can't wait go back next summer. read more

Established in 2007.

When London's Dairy and Ice Cream Parlor in Port Huron, Michigan closed, it left a hole in our community. High quality hand-dipped ice cream became almost impossible to find. That's where we came in. Located in front of the historical Wurzel's Flea Market, the Milkhouse opened in 2007 bringing back all of the delicious desserts and many of the flavors you remember from childhood. In addition to over 30 flavors of hand-dipped ice cream, the Milkhouse offers a full menu of specialty coffee and espresso beverages.

Meet the Manager: Jeff P.

In the spring of 2007, I moved back to Port Huron and started the search for a teaching job. That Summer I worked with some friends from church to open up an ice cream parlor and coffee shop . It's called The Milkhouse Cafe and is located in front of the Fort Gratiot Flea Market.

I drank it all - it wasn't that big of a deal, but I agree with other reviews; iced coffee drinks are a touch weak. Pros: Staff was friendly. Cozy atmosphere. Nice size menu. I always mobile order and pick up inside. My drink is always made accurately and in a timely manner. Friendly barista and very clean. Besides Target and Meijer, this is the only stand alone Starbucks in the area.

However, some of the booth seats seemed a little old and torn, and the window area by the booth seemed a little dusty, like it could be neatened up more often. Other than that, we really liked this place though. First, the service was warm and excellent. The staff were great at answering questions about the menu and giving recommendations. Next, the chocolate butter tart was excellent! There are two options of butter tarts (a particularly Canadian treat), a plain one and a chocolate one. Having consulted a server, they highly recommended the chocolate butter tart for chocolate-lovers. The tart sides were delicious, and similar in texture to an egg tart. The inside was gooey and almost like chocolate sauce with a rich buttery base. The inside sauce really reminded me of a Chinese bun we love in Singapore, the liu sha bao or salted egg yolk custard bun. All in all, I highly recommend the chocolate tart for a small but punchy pop of decadence, and it goes perfect to complement with a cup of coffee. Other than that, the peppermint latte was wonderfully decorated according to my peppermint-loving friend (although another said it was definitely on the sweet side). Meanwhile, although my plain latte did not have the best latte art, staff proactively offered to add a variety of powdered toppings (cinnamon, cocoa and nutmeg) that put a smile to my face. All in all, it's a great place to chill and relax if you're not too fussy about everything being perfectly spic and span. As I said to my friends, sipping my coffee with my chocolate butter tart, "this is the life!"
