If you love Vietnamese food and coffee this is the right place for you. Although it's small this place lives up to its name. It's an extremely laid back atmosphere. One side of the restaurant has bar stool type seating and a table with with chairs. The other side has the large table off the floor you can sit around and several more tables and a wall of wedding photography on the wall. As far the food goes everything was extremely good. My wife and I tried a few of the Bubble Tea smoothies, a matcha latte and one of their sandwiches. We'd definitely get everything again. The restaurant itself is extremely clean and well taken care and the staff couldn't have been anymore kind or hospitable. I would definitely recommend this place to relax or get some work done. This is our new favorite spot! After a stressful long days work my fiancé and I decided to give Chill Zone a try, the first time we got smoothies and they were delicious but this time we came for the FOOD!!!! We decided to start off with the rice cakes with eggs and boy did they hit the spot with a little bit of special soy sauce and chili sauce for each bite. We then continued to order and got the Vermicelli bowl with grilled shrimp and an add of grilled pork! The bowl portion was plentiful and after the first bite of my shrimp I was amazed, the flavor of the shrimp was unlike any other shrimp I had tasted. It had that char grilled flavor but at the same time it was so plump and juicy and you can tell it had been marinated with a special recipe. After a few bites I decided to move onto the Beef with Egg Bahn Mi because I had always been dying to try this one. It came out with a warm fresh baguette that was perfectly crunchy on the outside and nice and fluffy on the inside, the quality of the beef paired with a perfectly cooked egg and wonderful fresh vegetables and special sauce had me addicted in one bite! This Bahn mi is something else, definitely much higher quality than most traditional Bahn Mi joints. At this moment A light bulb went off in my head and I realized why they call this place the chill zone......after a long day of stressful work this place puts you into a peaceful place after your first bite and you forget about everything else! It takes you away from all of your daily duties and let's you enjoy great food at a very reasonable price with a comfy ambiance to make you forget that you are in Arlington, VA. To say the least, we thought that it was so good that we returned 2 days later for a late afternoon lunch to have the rice cakes and vermicelli again(fiancé got this one this time), BUT what I really came for was the Chicken pho. I'm so glad that I did! The meat was tender and juicy with a nice mix of white and dark meat. The broth was pleasant leaving me with a feeling of complete fulfillment as I slurped up the last few sips. When I was younger I used to live a few streets down from Chill Zone's current location. Back then, the location was occupied by my favorite bakery, Mother's Macaroons. I know MM closed for other reasons but I always was a little bitter about whatever replaced it. However, I started following Chill Zone on Instagram months ago. I've been wanting basically since I started following them, but even when I was in Arlington I was either too rushed or too full to visit. Finally one day I was coming back from the hospital and I figured I would pop in since my appointment had gone way faster than expected and I was in the mood for a latte. I'm so happy I finally came in! The decor is beautiful; it's the kind of place that just invites calm and coziness. I was one of two people in the cafe mid-morning on a gloomy Wednesday so ordering was very quick. I settled on a matcha latte. It was beautiful, from the stoneware mug to the matcha Kit-Kat and the sugar crystals to the pretty latte art. I sat there enjoying a calm morning for almost an hour. I am in love with this place. Chill Zone could not be a more wonderful place to carry on this corner unit's legacy in my life. read more

Aaah, stumbled upon this little cafe and we had to try it! To our disappointment - we truly think the drinks are a bit overpriced. We ordered the Siagonese Milk Tea, that was $7+ and an order of the hot vietnamese coffee....which i think they forgot to put water into the dripped coffee and condensed milk...so the coffee barely came up to half level of the small to go cup it came in :( Regardless, it has a very cozy feel, but i can easily go to other cafes that offer a better pricepoint for caffeinated drinks. Chillzone has always been my favorite place to stop for coffee and beef sandwich. During this crazy time, I am so glad the this place has not closed. Even though we are not allowed to dine in there's at least carry out so I can get my coffee and go. I like that we are allowed to bring an empty bottle and they will fill it with hand sanitizer since hand sanitizer is so hard to buy or find these days. That's really a nice touch! This review is based solely on one visit as I do not plan on returning. My experience wasn't bad, it just isn't worth the drive back in my opinion. It's right next to a Safeway in the shopping center across from where Duck donuts is in Arlington. As with most places, I discovered Chill Zone on instagram as someone posted a very instagram-able matcha drink and that was enough reason for me to give this place a try. Chill Zone is a tiny coffee shop with 1-2 tables, window stool seating and a truly chill area with a lowered table where you'd have to take your shoes off to sit. The decor is cute but a bit confusing: they have a motorcycle smacked down the middle of the place, a giraffe and an "I love Virginia" sign. Not a fan of places that try too hard to be photographable without an actual theme in mind. They serve coffee, teas, and bubble tea. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the instagram-able matcha drink - that got me here in the first place - because I'm not a big fan of matcha, and they couldn't make that with any other flavor. Bummer! Instead I just ordered the Frosty Mango with bubbles. The drink comes in a huge size and thus you pay over $6 for it. I'd rather pay less and be able to get a smaller size. How did we miss this place's existence all this time!? Small little place but plenty of parking in the back lot. We ordered several drinks including the matcha latte in a chill zone bottle, a guava drink, and green is good with chia seeds. The matcha latte's matcha is legit matcha, you can taste it! The avocado smoothie with chia was everyone's favorite. Tastes like it would be such a great post workout drink. I wish we had been told though, the bubbles are not tapioca bubbles. They're some oddly slightly crunchy jelly type of bubbles - which I never would have ordered with my drink. The 4 drinks alone cost $30+, hence the -1 star. We ended up ordering some food as well - fried rice cake and banh mi. Heads up - their chicken is like ground up patty that's seasoned - $13 for the 2 small items. My favorite part of this cafe was the area where you can take off your shoes, and shit on a cozy carpet surrounded by pillows and teddy bears. Very chilling and nice coffee place. I have been craving for the fried rice cake for so long and this time I have decided to make time to stop by the place. The portion is good for 1 person but a little small for almost $7, same for the banh mi, if you all are used to the Vietnamese size banh mi which is about 9-10 inches for $4-$5 then don't get it. If you do then don't complaint about it later since i already warned you. Their banh mi is only about 6-7 inches long and small in size but almost $8 with egg. That's all with the down side and i am just putting the infor out there just to let you guys know but I am still willing to pay the money for the food because they are good. The banh mi is very flavorful and juicy. The fried rice cake is good as well. The drinks are the little sweet but if you leave it to melt a little, it'a perfect. I recommend the mini boba, love it better than the big ones. Overall, i will be back. I just hope the portions are a little bigger so it can fill me up lol. Anyways, i respect the store's prices. This cafe is just the cutest! From the sliding bathroom door to the seating area where you have to take off your shoes. I absolutely love the decor and the beautiful professional photography placed decoratively on the walls. They have a good range of drinks from lattes to fruit frappes, as well as some small bites to eat both sweet and savory. I was in need of a pick me up and got a Vietnamese iced coffee. To me, it did not taste like Vietnamese coffee that I am accustomed to from pho restaurants or banh mi places, but still very delicious! Their Vietnamese coffee is more on the sweet rather than bitter side. Their service is great and the man at the counter was very kind and willingly answered all my questions I had about the various drinks. I've been here twice, and I must say this is the chill zone that everybody needs! The last 2 times i went there the place is not too crowded considering the size of the shop--I went at night on a weekday and the second time on a Saturday evening (5ish). The have different kinds of seating area, from high stools to sitting on the "floor" with low tables (pretty comfortable; and if you're asian you know what kind of sitting style i'm talking about). The first time I went there I ordered the matcha latte with boba (in the picture, which was what my friend ordered the second time i went there). So the second time i visited chill zone, i wanted to order something fruity on their menu and i tried the frosty mango with boba..... hands down, it was one of the best mango dessert drink i have ever tried! If you're a mango lover, you must try it! They also have another mango drink on their menu called mango volcano, and it has some spices in it (you can ask them for a picture). Also, that is another thing i like about this place. They have a 'photo menu' for all of their drinks, so if you're a visual person like me, it's gonna be super helpful and eye-satisfying. This is a very beautiful coffee shop located inside on a corner of the building. You can't miss it since they have placed a "Chill Zone" sign on the side of the building. There's parking around the business and across the street. Once you are inside, you see a lot of wood and plants. It's beautiful and very well decorated. There was a couple of tables, stools, and a sitting on the floor area which is really chill. We ordered a matcha latte and a cinnamon latte. They both served beautifully. The matcha was in a black decorated bowl with a plate that had matcha kitkats and sweet clear candy. Very delicious if you really like matcha. The cinammon latte has the perfect sweetness served in a glass cup. While looking around, I noticed that the owner is also a photographer who takes wedding photos. He has business cards and his wedding photos are beautiful. Overall, I am definitely coming back and trying their other beverages. They also have this unique crispy pan fried rice cake that's definitely worth trying. I've had the matcha on the rocks, frosty mango (fresh mango smoothie with milk foam), and pink tea (jasmine tea with raspberry purée). They use mini bubbles. They definitely put in the time to make everything good quality, so I don't feel as bad paying $5+ for a bubble tea. They have this little corner with a big table surrounded by pillows to sit on (got to leave your shoes behind though which is a lil awk). I got the black milk tea with bubbles and my friend got the frosty mango. The bubbles that came with mine were SO TINY AND CUTE. Very different but I liked it. The milk tea itself was very ordinary, if not a little too watery. The frosty mango on the other hand made me want to tango and I'd def come here again for that. My husband and I really enjoyed the bubble tea AND the food here. Out of all the bubble tea places in NoVa, I think this has become my new favorite. I ordered the Classic Jasmine Milk Tea w regular boba (included) and my husband ordered the Frosty Mango with teardrop boba. My Milk Tea had a deep jasmine taste to it, and the Frosty Mango tasted like real mango - it didn't have any artificial taste to it! It also wasn't too sweet which I loved. It's better than the Mango Snow we usually always get at Kungfu Tea. They also only have tiny size boba... I personally prefer the regular size boba but it was still good. We also ordered wings and pan fried rice cake which the cashier told us is a vietnamese street food. Wings were so crispy and had a good sweetness to it (more Asian style wings). My only complaint was that the wings were tiny..they were the size of my pinky. The Pan-fried Rice Cake was very good too! UGH I wish I had remembered to look at Yelp before coming here! Their menu is limited and I was looking for a bubble tea without dairy. The barista was very friendly and recommended the Pink Tea which is their jasmine tea mixed with raspberry puree so I decided to give it a go with bubbles. While making my drink the barista asked if I would like to try their tear drop boba, I thought that was very nice of her and said sure. Turns out, the tear drop boba was a substitute as they had ran out of regular boba. The drink was alright, I wish I had ordered the Volcano Mango instead but based on the menu's description it just sounded like a boring mango smoothie. The tea drop boba had a weird plastic feel, I was definitely not a fan. Also, a majority of their teas are jasmine based where as I'm used to and prefer having more green tea options. Chill Zone should definitely add more details to the drink descriptions they have on their menu or some visuals, because as a first time customer I was lost on what to order and everything sounded so boring to me. This is a cute place tucked away from the busy Lee Harrison shopping center across the street. The cozy decor and seating options make me feel at home and the drinks aren't bad either. I've tried a variety of drinks, from the Vietnamese coffee to the frosty mango with boba, and haven't been disappointed yet. The only issue I have is with the high prices -- sometimes I pay up to $7 for a single drink. The servings are large which kinda makes up for the price. The name of this cafe, Chill Zone, is appropos. The seating and atmosphere is very inviting and chill. The cafe is small, but they offer some different seating options from Japanese floor tables to wood picnic style tables to a couple of love seats and a coffee table for a friendly gathering to seats along the window. The staff is very friendly, and you have a very family and friends type of atmosphere. We ordered bt chiên which my daughter loved (it's her favorite Vietnamese dish). I thought it was better than most places I've tried, but I would have prefered it bit more crunch to it. I loved the pickled shredded papaya though. The beef bánh mì was very good. The beef was tender, the bread was soft but held up, and the sauce was tangy. The chicken wings were also very good: crispy, but not dry and the sauce while not spicy was tasty. I was a little disappointed in the affogato while my wife loved it. The ice cream was good and the whipped cream was light, but I would have prefered espresso to Vietnamese coffee. Also, the coffee was at the bottom and the creams were over the coffee: I prefer the traditional ice cream topped with espresso. All in all, we enjoyed our visit to this cute little cafe, and we are sure to come back. I may consider this my new telework lunch spot. read more

The small yet photogenic cafe is decorated beautifully with many small details that it is impossible to resist taking a photo. The menu has unique items which automatically drew me to it. I ordered the Vietnamese fried rice cakes snack with eggs. It was a yummy, sizeable snack and something I might possibly try to make at home next time. They also have yogurt and chicken wings. I would be extremely excited to come back if they add any new items to the snack menu. For my drink, I ordered the iced jasmine bubble tea with their homemade raspberry syrup which was delicious. I liked how it was not too sweet and how the raspberry flavoring was subtle. The tapioca balls were smaller than the usual ones found in bubble tea shops in the area. I didn't mind it at all. Note that the price for the bubble tea was slightly more expensive than other shops. The service was very friendly. I literally saw one of the servers dash after a customer outside of the shop to hand her a straw for her bubble tea. This place is perfect for a chill meetup space for friends and could even be a casual first date spot for college peeps and young ones (the "get-comfortable" floor seating deems it so).
