I'm so glad I had the opportunity to try this place while I was in town--Such a hidden gem! The inside it's huge but I really loved the traditional floor seating; so cute and cozy! And the food and beverages came out rather quickly, so I can't complain about the service either. I had the pleasure of trying the orange matcha which was one of the best matchas I have indulged in my life. The orange was a bit sweet so you'll definitely need to stir it up as it sits at the bottom but if you're looking for a good matcha--Give that a try! Anywho, I swung back over here before heading out of town and gave the mango frost a try which was another delicious drink... I honestly enjoyed them both so much I couldn't tell you which was better. As for the food; my friend tried the cheesy sweet potato fries and I had the basil fried rice and when I tell you those fries were so crispy and fresh and the cheesy coating almost reminded me of Cheetos or popcorn dust but it complimented the fries very well and the rice was fresh and flavorful and a pretty big portion too! Dying to return here the next time I'm in town
I love this little place. A friend brought me here for a Thai tea one day when I had a craving. I was instantly hooked. When I'm in the area, I will definitely be stopping by. It has such a cute little inside that it's perfect for a little café situation, or a quick tea date with your friend or kid. It is such a cute little vibe. I love all the different types of seating and decor. Additionally, the Thai tea (about $7.50 for a large) here is delicious. They have a full Boba bar, which has tons of different milk teas on it. Their food menu is cute as well. It has pho, bahn mi, spring rolls, and a number of different items. It is convenient to get these items, but they are definitely a bit overpriced, especially considering that there are some really delicious Vietnamese spots not too far from here. One item that I can personally attest to being a little mid and overpriced is the spring rolls. I paid somewhere between seven and nine dollars for two. They were not that flavorful and they were pretty small. Service is usually pretty quick for drinks. I've ordered online and also in store before. I've never waited more than three minutes for my drink. I did wait about 17 minutes for spring rolls one time, but it is what it is. Overall, I will come back. I'm actually planning to take the kid there one of these days for a cute little day date.
Everything about this place is a 10/10! We're from out of town, but in the few days we're in this area, I will be here every day. The name is very fitting; the ambiance is extremely chill. They only play jazz, so you can actually come and relax instead of hearing someone else's taste in pop. My iced egg latte was exactly how I would make a coffee drink at home, which shocked me. One of the best lattes I've had in a long time. The service has been great. Every detail inside the shop has blown me away, from the shoeless seating on the floor to the endless paper cranes, and the incredible old camera collection. Thank you to the owners for putting all of your heart and creativity into a place that I will continue to visit when I'm in the DC area!
Awesome, cozy little spot with delicious food! The pho was very flavorful and delicious, loved every bite. When you enter you order everything at the counter and then seat yourself. Staff was very kind and food came quickly. This place definitely lives up to the name, "chill" atmosphere was perfect for enjoying a meal while catching up with friends in the ambient dining area.
Great spot! Came in there to do some work and the tea/coffee selection is great. I also picked up lunch here and the Banh Mi sandwiches are amazing. It does get crowded around lunch hour but i was able to snag a seat before then.
Service: you order your food and beverage at the counter. Food: Vietnamese fusion. I ordered the egg coffee with was smaller than I had expected for $7!!! But it was delicious. I also ordered the chicken wings. The sauce was ok - I wished they would have done the classic wings with fish sauce. They served it with a side of blue cheese. My friend got the basil fries and Banh Mi which she enjoyed. Ambiance: super cute interior. It's small with 3 small tables, 1 communal table l, a lounge area and a stage for entertainment. Overall I liked this little spot in Arlington. I think the prices are a bit high. I think I prefer the beverages more than the food.
I love the coziness of this cafe and it has really unique seating and decor. I actually took inspiration from their plant corner and bought the same plant stand for my new house. The best things to get here are the Vietnamese coffee-based drinks. My go-to used to be the Vietnamese frappe with some jelly added to it but I recently had a taste test with both the hot and cold versions of their cà phê trứng (egg coffee). The hot version was small and concentrated and the iced version is medium sized, thick, and velvety. It is a special treat that I like to indulge in every once in a while and it's worth the short wait. While waiting and enjoying my drink I usually play on the typewriter, fold origami paper cranes, or look at their vintage cameras decorating the back wall. There is limited parking but it is next to other business that have more parking spots (orthodontist).
If you come here strictly for drinks - boba, tea, etc. - it's a nice spot, but for food, not worth the price. I ordered the Papaya Salad, and although it tasted good, it was just papaya with a few leaves - not a salad at all. See the picture. If you Google Papaya Salad and compare it any of those pictures to what was given, it was very disappointing. In fact, for ~$14, it was not worth it at all; even it were $10 it wouldn't have been worth it. The cafe did have a cozy vibe and some live music which was unique, but the place was much smaller than the pictures showed and not as organized/clean as the pictures led on either. I feel this place might have been great when it first opened, but now below average; especially with their prices.
This used to be my all time favorite hangout spot to go with my friends when I lived closer to Arlington! Super cozy inside with giant teddy bears and lots of seating with ambient lights and pretty decorations. Love all the drink options and the pho's really good, my only complaint is how expensive it's gotten for the small portions, I feel like they should be bigger if the price point is increasing that much. Absolutely love this place though, no other vietnamese places compare to the ambiance and good vibes of Chill Zone
The tea flavor is on par with other boba places in the area. The default sweetness level is very sugary, so if you want to taste the tea I would recommend requesting less sugar. On this visit, Chill Zone was out of the regular tapioca boba, so they recommended substituting the "crystal" boba instead. Unfortunately, the flavor doesn't really go well with a black milk tea, so I wouldn't opt for that again in the future. The layout and ambiance of Chill Zone is pretty nice and they've done a lot to make a smaller space comfortable and inviting. They also have a lot of great food options on their menu and I've had a good experience with those. As far as tea only, I'm not sure this would be my first pick but I guess it works in a pinch. Price wise, it is definitely on the higher end for tea since one large black milk tea with boba came out to $8.80 with tax.
Love this neighborhood, hole in the wall Vietnamese cafe! The coffees are some of the most unique and delicious I've had- especially the taro latte and warm egg coffee. The food is equally amazing- the pork bahn mi and pho are obvious, well done staples, but they have such an extensive, creative menu! Great vibes that keep me coming back.
This place surprises me every year. When I first tried this place pre-pandemic, they only had Boba, lattes, and hot teas. Compared to other places and how pricy it was, I always felt they were a 4 star establishment. I come back a year later and they started adding Vietnamese food which I thought was tasty. Again, not enough for me to come back right away. Recently, I went back after YEARS, and now they've added dishes like Peach Sticky rice along with a plethora of menu items. I loved the sticky rice dish! This shows Chill Zone improves every year and has become a very well-rounded establishment. I think after all these years, they deserve my 5 star review. I'm glad they stuck around!

Another disappointing drink spot in VA. I ordered the taro latte, it looks so pretty in photos. I asked for almond milk, which usually is extra. But I didn't realize how much extra. My order came out to almost $8, which is insane for a small size. And there's no caffeine, it's just powder and milk. I tried to stay awhile and do some work while drinking, but I had to leave as soon as I was finished as there was a weird smell. It almost smelled like the bathroom, but it resounded no matter where I was in the cafe. read more

This place deserves every ounce of this five star review. After seeing all the other fantastic feedback from yelpers I decided to give it a shot tonight to fuel my Monday night procrastination. Despite walking in about a half hour before closing, all employees were super friendly, asking if this was our first time visiting, and explaining different menu items. We decided on the taro latte and volcano mango frap, as those seemed fairly popular on the menu. While waiting for our drinks to be ready, we wandered over into the other room and were ooh and aah-ing over the cute decor (picture worthy for sure). So far I'm really enjoying my experience, but then I sip my latte and I'm not even really joking when I say it was game changing. A beautiful purple masterpiece with the perfect balance of sweet and a bit savory. I've never seen one of these elsewhere, so I certainly will be back to get it again. The volcano mango frap certainly did not let us down either: delightful presentation with some sort of spicy mixture through it and around a straw stuck in the middle. Pieces of mango were throughout the entire drink-- I have no doubt that it was very fresh. I will be back. And will probably come hungry for some of those fantastic-looking rice cakes! read more

Chill Zone is a local favorite of mine for snacking. I've honestly not had any of their drinks since that's not my thing, but their Vietnamese snack menu is excellent. My favorite item is the beef banh mi. A little spicy, and a whole lot of flavor in a crispy baguette. The rice cakes and egg rolls are also excellent. Trendy, Minimalist, and simple is the best way I can describe this little cafe. I really hope they keep it this simple because simple concepts are hard to find Arlington area. I like the minimal menu and drink options. Their black tea and viet coffee to me are on-point. It semi-sweet the boba are small and easy to chew. I have ordered food here too. The banh mi is small and packaged well for to-go. It's lemon-grass chicken. The wings has a tangy sweet taste and omg...I'm not big on tangy but this won me over. It was a good portion for a heavier eater or to share with someone. Can't wait to try the other beverages and food items. As for ambiance of the cafe, it's very instagram savvy, if you get my drift. It's airy, bright and again simple. There are small ledge top bar tables with stools on the right side as you enter. On your left, are two regular table with cushion ottoman chairs and regular chairs that seats up to 4. Then there's a "community" floor table surrounded by pillows to either sit on or lean with. So don't be shy to sit with other. The staff is super friends and helpful with whatever questions you may have. They accept all cards if you're wondering. Make to look at your right, by the cashier, so you know where to place your trash and dishes. The bathroom is the barnyard door. If you're trying to locate the place, it's in the corner between the dry cleaners and the Safeway (across from Harrison Shopping center). There's plenty of parking if you go to the side of the cafe versus the front. Definitely a cute hole in the wall for Arlingtonians. read more

This tea shop has great ambience and decor -- you instantly feel calm and zen when you step in. The mini tables and floor seating are a thoughtful touch, particularly for patrons with children. The bathroom, according to my little one, was "fancy." Ha ha. I ordered my default drink, a classic milk tea. It was nice and strong, and the snack of pan-fried rice cake with egg was gobbled up in no time. Staff split my kids' strawberry "smoothie" into two cups and kindly brought my orders to the table. I really enjoyed our experience, and I'd like to return to try many more items on the menu. read more
Name of the place is accurate. Very chill vibes but for my trip here, I ordered the Matcha Iced Green Tea (Don't remember the name of the drink but picture attached). It was OK, a bit on the sweet side but felt that it was quite overpriced for what it was. The Wi-Fi was not working the day I was here and even after a reset, it was still not working. How can I bring myself to wax eloquent about a hole-in-the-wall Asian tea shop in a run-of-the-mill retail block? It's just around the corner from a Safeway grocery chain and next to a nail parlor! It's interior is quite sweet, as are the servers who reflect the shop's small, locally-owned business character. Most certainly not a commercial chain with a franchise, they make bubble tea drinks from scratch with real good quality tea, and real fruit, rather than those hideous powders sitting in industrial plastic tubs. So, take that Kung Fu Tea! You'll taste the difference in their jasmine tea and their matcha tea. The menu is limited. Yet you find quality. The boba are soft and smaller than you'll find in the average bubble tea spot. The sugar levels are controlled. This is not about pushing a product, but about delivering a tasty product that will get repeat customers. They have a very limited snack menu (fried chicken and chopped mango is about it!) I don't know another place in Arlington that is this taste conscious in its bubble tea preparation,so if you don't want to head all the way out to Eden Center (for the superlative teas available at Thanh Son Tofu!), then stay local and enjoy a cool summer drink here at the "Chill Zone". read more
This place was really cute to work at! There are paper cranes everywhere and the decorations are amazing. The staff is also super friendly and accommodating. I got the iced lavender latte while i was here and I did not like it and their drinks are a bit on the pricy side but it's a small business so I understand. If I come back I'd probably try something else! read more

I ordered Taro smoothies on my first visit and it is super delicious. I can tell it isnt made from powder like any other places. On my second visit, I wanted to try something else so I ordered Thai tea with boba but it was disappointing. It tastes water down and there is a lot of ice in the drink. read more

Such a cute place. I've been here several times and I still am in awe of how aesthetically pleasing it looks every time I come in. Recently, I came in after lunch nearby. I ordered a frosty mango frap while my sister ordered a power "C" frap which is basically guava-flavored. These two drinks came to be around $12 which is pretty steep for boba drinks but the quality is worth it. They bring your drinks out to where you're sitting! My frosty mango frap was so creamy and refreshing. If you know what a mango lassi is, this was just a very high quality version of it. My sister loved her drink, especially with the candy that comes with it, which gave it a balance of tart, salty and sweet. Only complaint was that my frosty mango frap was a smaller size than the power "C" frap. Which we could order in different sizes and not have set sizes for certain drinks. Overall, this place is legit! read more
I'm so excited this place finally opened! Everyone here is so friendly and very patient while explaining the menu. The chicken wings are sweet and a little spicy (Vietnamese style), and the pan fried rice cake comes in pieces with egg. Perfect snacks to go with your boba tea or frap. They have reusable stainless steel cups for the complimentary lemon water. Super cute ambience - succulents, plants and shabby chic feeling. They have a "chill zone" where you take your shoes off and sit on the floor. Organic/high quality ingredients - definitely will be a regular here and hope they add more "bites!" read more

I randomly found this cafe to get some food and coffee and it turned out great! I ordered Beef Banh Mi and it was delicious!! I'd comeback to get more food!! I got two shots of espressos over ice and it's smooth and tasty! I definitely recommend you to check Chill Zone out sometime! Pretty amazing. Tips: All the chairs weren't very comfy or cozy if you're planning to stay longer! Except those high chairs! :) read more
Came here with some friends. Looks very clean and modern inside. The only thing about this place is it's smaller than a lot of bubble tea places so I can see seating being an issue if this place becomes popular. I bought a milk tea bubble drink. The bubbles are smaller here, almost bead size, so if you hate chewing those bubbles this place is for you. Lastly the have iPhone chargers here which is convenient. read more

I apologize for the half-eaten pic of the pho- I was hungry and didn't remember until it was too late Anyway, true to it's name, this place is extremely chill in the utmost zen-like way. There is calming music playing, tables on the floor with floor cushions and a shoe removal area. Definitely a unique place. The food was decent- didn't knock it out of the park for me. The pho seemed a little bland compared to other places I've been near the Eden Center. One recommendation i have is allow the sauces (fish sauce, siracha, etc) to sit out for customer use instead of in the pre-portioned containers. It's more work for you and it was the ratio I wanted for the pho. Taro frap was pretty good. Had great flavor but kind of a chalky texture, which leads me to believe perhaps there is a powder in that and too much of it was used? I dunno, but either way it was a nice little dessert. I'll probably return but try a different meal next time. read more

Super cute! I love how peaceful the cafe as well. They have origami paper for you to make origami cranes as well. I loved the lychee chilled tea because there was lychee pieces inside! It was delicious. The interior designing was amazing. Definitely worth the visit. Would go again. read more

My boyfriend and I visited Chill Zone again since we were in the area - one year ago being our last visit. Nothing has changed, their taro frap is still the best one I've ever had! You really taste the taro root, not overwhelmingly sweet, and the mini bubbles were perfectly soft. He ordered the mango volcano which was unique but had great taste regardless. We decided to order food as well. Both the chicken pho and the banh mi were flavorful. Will definitely come back whenever I'm around the Arlington area. read more
Their taro boba is different than other places. They added coconut milk in the drink. The boba is soft not super chewy. It almost taste like sago. All my friends loved it. The shave ice cream is super soft. They have a printer where you can print pictures also a charging station for your phone. The best chill cafe I've been to. Friendly, warm accommodating staff! Makes you feel comfortable. I had frap from here, it was fulfilling and not too heavy on the stomach. Space is equal and just right for a cafe to be cozy and simple. Decor is very creative and inspiring, I'm honestly amazed. My top 5 fav places! read more

Nice spot to visit for some good coffee, bubble tea, and snacks! My husband and I wanted to find a place we could get coffee, study, and eat and Chill Zone fit the bill. The interior is rustic and eclectic. There are a few different styles of seating, not necessarily ideal for a long study session, but still pretty comfortable. I got the green tea latte in a ceramic, asian-inspired cup. It came with rock sugar and a green tea Kit Kat which was pretty fun. My husband ordered a iced latte and later a milk tea bubble tea. His drinks has a little too much ice, so next time we will probably ask for less ice. The vermicelli was surprisingly good. The shrimp had a nice smoky/grilled flavor and the sauce for the vermicelli bowl was very flavorful. I think it is worth checking this place out. It sounded like they have several regulars; I heard the owner catching up with them. read more

I moved to Arlington in March of this year and I am trying to explore all the cute coffee shops in the area and this will certainly be one of my go-to's! The decor is so cute and the staff is honestly so sweet! I called to ask if we could dine in (it seems to be mostly pick-up only) and because there were no other customers dining in and it was only 3 of us, they allowed us to dine in. The staff was so accommodating and they are taking all necessary precautions to ensure everything is sanitized (when we left they immediately sanitized the area). I ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk (which was AMAZING), a bacon and egg croissant, and the beef and steak pho (also amazing! Item #16 on the menu). I will certainly come back and support this business! read more

Review is a bit late, I went before covid and during. First time experience with them was pleasant with indoor dining. I got the banh mi and egg ca phe. The coffee was good but a bit too sweet, too much condense milk. The banh mi was good as well, lightly crisp exterior and airy center to allow more meat and veggies to occupy. I got the beef and it was nicely flavored, reminds me of good old times in Vietnam. I went again back in spring of 2020 and i got a coffee latte. It was mediocre, I think the ratio of coffee to milk might be a bit off, too much milk in this case. Would go back to try other items on the menu. :) read more

From the looks of the outside it doesn't seem like much but upon entering in, the decor and ambiance of the place makes up for it. Cute spot to grab a quick drink and even hang out with some friends. You can almost compare it to Starbucks but more so on the chill side (hence chill zone lol). A good amount of tables and chairs and they even have a section of the place where you can take off your shoes and just lounge around. So many things on the menu looked appealing so I ended up getting the volcano mango frap and it was delicious. Very refreshing and the mini tapioca balls added a nice touch to it along with the tamarind candy stick. Also ordered the banh mi sandwich which was okay but ended up waiting a while for it. Imo not worth the wait. All in all I'd come back for the drinks but not so much the food. Also cute place to takes pics. read more
From the outside, this place doesn't look like much but the interior is super charming and cozy. There's a large seating area of that is set up Asian-style, where you have to take off your shoes to sit around a table which was fairly unique. Menu-wise, I would say Chill Zone is slightly on the expensive side. I ordered a Vietnamese frap, which came out to around $5.60. The drink itself was pretty large, but I don't know if it's $5.60 large if you know what I mean. I couldn't see the prices on the menu above the counter, so I'm not sure if I just happened to order one of the more expensive menu items. I will say that a plus for this place is that there's plenty of parking! read more

I love everything about this restaurant! As a college student I've been looking for a place to study and eat good food and this restaurant is so peaceful to study at. I've also been searching for good Vietnamese food in this area for so long and I finally found perfect Vietnamese food. The food is fresh the drinks are the perfect combination of sweetness etc. The menu has a good amount to choose from. The drink selection has everything you can think of. Very welcoming, great customer service, super friendly and patient employees. 5 stars highly recommended will be back. read more
