This is a really cool little cafe out here in Arlington. Vietnamese base and they've got a bunch of smoothies, boba tea, sandwiches, and coffee. I really enjoyed my Taro smoothie with boba and it was made with fresh taro and not powder. Many of their fruit smoothies are actually made with the fresh ingredients which is always better than using the powders. It was a front refreshing cold drink on a hot day and I look forward to trying more of their stuff. read more

Cute place for coffee or tea. They have some food like banh mi, sandwiches, breakfast, etc. I would come back and try them one day. I got milk tea with boba in a glass bottle. The bottle costs an extra dollar and the boba is a lot smaller than usual like tapioca almost. I enjoyed the milk tea and boba but wasn't like the most amazing thing ever. The viet coffee is rich and not as sweet. It's a nice place to study and hang out, and the people are really friendly. There is really nice decoration, great for pictures. This place is unexpectedly cute. It's very unassuming from the outside and very hipster/minimalist on the inside, with bar seating and a lowered table off to the left side where you sit on the floor (and take off your shoes) Japanese-style. Very cute. I was a little disappointed with the bubble tea selection, though (can't comment on the food, as I went there just to satisfy my recurring bubble tea craving!). First of all, they definitely do NOT have a plethora of flavors to try... just a few classic milk teas (Jasmine, black, or matcha tea) and then some slushies/smoothies (which were very unique!). I personally, though, love my milk teas and was hoping they'd have some of the common flavors like almond or Thai tea. That was the first disappointment. The second was learning they only have mini bubbles! Some might like this as it doesn't require the same level of chewing effort as regular, larger sized boba. But I am a boba fanatic, so this just didn't do for me. They do have something I've never seen/heard of before called "tear drop" boba... but it was more a jelly consistency than I was used to. I ended up with a "mango snow" bubble tea drink, which was HUGE and definitely tasted of fresh mango. It was slushy-form, so beware drinking it too quickly. It had good flavor and a creamy touch of milk on top. Great summer drink. I also got a sip of the "power C" smoothie, which was basically a guava slushy that had tangy li hing powder mixed in. Strong guava flavor and also would be terrific on a hot summer day. Unfortunately, i was there on a cold, rainy night, and so these selections, while good, just weren't quite enough for what I was looking for. Have to add that I also tried a nutella cookie, which was a disappointment. It was basically just two thin sugar cookies pressed together with the TINIEST dab of hardened nutella between them. I love the atmosphere of this place! The Frosted Mango with the mini boba is amazing and to die for!! It tastes like fresh and sweet mangos (which is so so good)! I've also had their Vietnamese Coffee frappe and the Power "C" frappe (which is guava) as well and those are also really good! read more

A unique take on bubble tea. This quant mom and pop store is tucked away in the corner of a strip mall; a bit hard to find but worth the trip! Upon entering, you can immediately tell they put a lot of effort in the decor and layout. They even have a section with floor tables where you take off your shoes.. it interestingly enough reminded me of living back in Asia. The bubble tea options were so different that it took a while to make a decision. I eventually got the Power C (guava). If you like tart slushes, you'll enjoy this. Their bubbles were mini bubbles and I thought they were a little stingy with the bubbles. All in all, although I wasn't in love, it was a good experience and I'd recommend at least giving it a try! read more

Definitely a "Chill Zone." Got to work on my assignment using their FREE Wi-Fi (password: bemybffs). My first time visit I tried the Viet Frap w/ tiny black bubbles and it was very good! There is a $10 credit card minimum limit, so I decided to also try Rice Vermicelli w/ grilled Pork. Just that I had late brunch and got here after 10:30 on Friday, so I asked if they could hold on to my order until little later. They honored my request as I worked on my laptop... for about three hours later, I took my dish to-go and it was very good as well! I took pictures of their menu (below images)! Solid grilled pork vermicelli! The pork is super flavorful and the vegetables are fresh, which is great. The staff was very friendly and they bring the food out to you. I was unimpressed with the black milk tea with boba, but it's honestly not bad, just not anything special. The boba itself was a little bland, so that was disappointing. But the food was great and there's plenty of table space to do work, with really relaxing music and very nice mood lighting. I'd love to come back and try the taro frappe! read more

I definitely like the vibe in this place. It is definitely chill, as the name indicates. There is some wooden giraffe, drawings on the wall, and just that overall hipster feel. There are mostly stools and not much seating. I usually prefer some regular chairs that have a back. Sitting on a stool just seems to be uncomfortable for me. The menu wasn't too big which I appreciate. They have specialty coffee, teas, slushy drinks, and some small bites. I got the taro frap. There are no sizes to choose, which is fine with me. The taro frap was quite large, almost too much, but I suppose it should be large for $6+. I got it without whipped cream. It tasted fresh and was pretty good. I did finish it, so definitely enjoyed it some. It wasn't too sweet which was definitely a positive. However, they use small bubbles. I prefer the larger ones that I could chew on. The lady at the register was very friendly and seems like she cares very much about her customers and the business. I didn't have any of the food, but maybe I will try that along with a different drink next time. I want this business to do well, so I will definitely return and give them a chance. She gave me a rewards card and after purchasing 6 drinks, you get a free one. read more

Such a wonderful discovery! I love this place. Had a flat white that was perfection (see photo). Also had a pan fried rice toast with egg (not sure if that's the exact name) that was so delicious I forgot to take a photo. :) The owner (very nice man) is also a 30 year pro photographer and his decor reflects it. Instead of bubble tea they have a taro frappe with mini bubbles which had a bit of weird consistency. This place is a corner of heaven and really great for the Instagrammer! It offers a nice little cafe unlike anything else I have come across in the NOVA area. Parking is a little sparce, I could see it being packed during a busier period. I ordered the taro smoothie while a friend ordered the Matcha tea latte. The taro smoothie was very thick and had taro chunks in it, so it might not appeal to everyone. You can pay a dollar extra to get your drink in a vintage milk bottle to take home! The matcha latte was very good, light and refreshing! They use organic matcha and organic milk! Our only qualm was that they didn't have board games! Chill Zone is one of my new favorite places for some good food and tea with friends. We checked this place out as a recommendation for a study alternative from the library. It did not disappoint! The ambience is mellow and inviting with friendly staff and multiple different seating options ranging from bar stools to shoes off on the floor seating. The noise level was much quieter than other cafes around town so we were able to get some a good amount of work done and then enjoy some beef banh mi (added egg), chicken wings, and lemon grass pork vermicelli with spring roll. I absolutely love this place. It's my new favorite boba place. The drinks is so delicious. I had tried frosty mango, Viet frap, matcha frap, taro frap, and the melon valley drink. They are all delicious and yummy! Whatever you get, you could really taste the flavor. I also like how they use fresh mangos and they put a bunch in your drink. As for the food, I've only tried the fried rice cake. That is definitely one of my favorite food, and this place makes it so good. The chef makes it very crispy and you can hear the crunch when you bite into it. I also like how you have the option to but your drink into a glass bottle. The bottle and the place has a cute vibe to it. They have a section where you could take a photo of your drink with a cute background. The one thing I kinda don't like is the small boba. It makes your photo cute, however it might be too small for me. They also have the tear drop boba and it taste very good. It tasted like honey lemon grass and had a jelly texture to it. This is our 4th time here & we ar working our way through the menu. We had the Viet Frap, the taro, the Power "C" guava, & mango, all with bubbles... we have not been disappointed yet... the bubbles are smaller in size, if you get the bigger bubbles they are let and sweeter. One of the few bubble tea places that uses FRESH fruit. My favorite flavors are the taro and mango because it has a nice smooth taste compared to powdered teas found elsewhere. The volcano mango has an interesting flavor, there isn't really a kick but you can definitely taste the chili powder. I spent a couple of hours here doing work and it was nice and calm without too many loud customers. I would definitely recommend it as a study spot! The Chill Zone makes one of the best cappuccinos in the area. They use high quality coffee beans and really take their time preparing it for you (not to mention, they have a top end coffee machine). Beyond their tasty drinks, they also sell authentic Vietnamese street food - I recommend the Vietnamese Meatball sandwich, it's yummy! Also, not a lot of people know this, but their chicken pho is on point (I've tried the beef pho but it's not as good, plus it makes the broth more greasy/less clean). A few cons: the chicken wings weren't that tasty and the menu is a little hard to navigate - they have their drink menu written above the register, food items laminated on a sheet of paper and pictures of their food displayed on a tablet. The cafe is a bit small but quaint and has lots of cute decorations. Check it out if you're in the area! read more

I came here to get a couple hours of work done and it was the perfect spot. I got a Vietnamese sandwich and it was delicious. They had an screen that gave you a visual of what you were going to order, which I really appreciated. The staff were very friendly. The atmosphere was nice. Randomly stopped by here for coffee today since it was next to my dry cleaner. The coffee was good, and the decor was cute, so my family and I decided to come back for dinner (and ordered to-go). We ordered lots of items so that we could try a little bit of everything - the vegetarian banh mi, beef pho, vermicelli noodles with shrimp, pan fried rice cake, and egg rolls. Everything was so delicious and fresh! I loved how the pho noodles were packaged separately from the broth so that nothing was soggy when we got home. The owner was so nice too! I've heard tons of great things about Chill Zone that I decided to check it out myself. All I can say is from the first step I took into the space, I was completely impressed. Because the cafe is quite small, each seating area is very unique and well-designed. Despite falling in love with the decor, I became more impressed with Daniel (the barista and owner, i believe) and his welcoming hospitality. We chatted about the cafe and how long it's been open, and he explained to me that the "Fraps" are indeed bubble teas. The bubble menu is quite small, but because the bubble tea is made completely from scratch and with the highest quality ingredients (not made of powder), the end result was nothing short of extraordinary. I don't think i've had a better Taro bubble tea in my whole life. It was that good! I've been to places that make bubble teas from scratch, and most of the time they've left me with some residual graininess but this is NOT the case here. This drink was smooth until the last drop. And, may I add, the pan fried rice cakes was Vietnamese street food heaven! I have to say this connected instantly with my taste buds! I love dipping food in vinegar. This dish required dipping the fried rice cakes (covered with eggs), into a vinegar based dipping sauce. I didn't encounter this typical street food in Vietnam while I was there, probably because I was only in the northern part, but according to Daniel, this is pretty popular in the south. Chill Zone has been my go to spot for pretty much everything since I was first introduced to it. The food is amazing. I've tried pretty much everything on the menu. It's the best Pho I've had, coffee is fresh, and real loose leaf tea. Once businesses were allowed to let people eat inside again, Starbucks still wasn't doing it, and Chill Zone welcomes folks to sit in and use the wifi. Staff has been so nice in every interaction I've seen as well. Not many businesses make me desire supporting them as much as this place does. read more
