Tommy is extremely unprofessional. I was actually really happy to have found someone in town that does Gel-X. (Gel-X was basically press-on thats are adhered with gel and cured and designed on top). Mine started lifting and popping off in 1.5 wks. Let me give a little gist as to why I am giving Tommy this one star. I found Tommy 3 wks ago and he did a really nice gel-x set on me and took the nail design inspo pics I showed him and did his thang, which luckily they turned out cute. Fast forward 2 wks, I need a new set cus a few of mine popped off and I had weekend plans so I was trying to get right. I booked a 3:30pm appointment with him and he confirmed with "Ok! Got you down!" The day comes and I realize traffic is bad and I need more time, so I text to let him know I will be there at 3:45pm but maybe sooner. He replies with "take your time I'm a little behind" Me thinking he needed more time, I came at 4pm (30 min after my initial appointment) He lets me in his salon and asks me to wait in the salon lobby since he was still with a client. After waiting 30 mins, I texted him at 4:30pm and ask how much longer cus I had a 6pm appointment after. He reassures that he is almost done and we were good on time. Now at 5:20pm (over an hr later), he texts me asking me if I could come back after my appointment, offering me free nails and even doing a house call. Which did not work for me. So we reschedule for today (July 3 @ 4pm) and guess what? As I pull up at almost 4pm, he sends me a text asking if I can come at 7 or tomorrow morning! Hell TF NO!! Last minute?!! I am DONE with him and his unprofessionalism. This is the problem with techs, they don't know how to prioritize their time. Tommy and I even spoke about it too. The previous owner of Great Nails (which Tommy took over last year but sold and now rents a small room inside a Latino hair salon) would overbook and clients would complain. Hypocrite much? I don't know if Tommy overbooked or didn't prioritize his time, either way, it's unacceptable. Maybe cus he thought he was giving me a free nail set, he can do what he wants. I am still a client! I was't coming for no free shit. The fact that he thinks it's ok to cancel on me last minute not once but TWICE, is what really bothers me. ------- UPDATE: *Let drop the review for my first appointment* He was in the process of moving and setting up his room, so he didn't have much set up yet. He was talking about himself saying he the best shit and what nots. Said I wouldn't be disappointed and blah blah blah. Yeah, l liked my nails but it wasn't exactly what I wanted. His work may be nice but there are plenty other techs that can put out great work. He thinks he's some hot shit cus he came from SoCal. Gel-X is to me is cheating anyways. Lazy work. He didn't have all his material, his uv lamps were dying, and in the end he drew this bullshit Lord of the Rings shield looking design, but I didn't want to make him change it after he did all this work on it. I didn't hate my nails so I wanted to give him another try when all his stuff was set up properly to be able to give a real review. I never got that chance cus Tommy unprofessionally cancels last minute. Free or not, does not excuse cancelling last minute TWICE. If he thinks that he is not wrong, he is DA LU LU Btw, his spot had little to no parking and the area isn't the safest. Busy but a lot weirdos. read more

I searched on Yelp for a salon with at least 4 stars, this place seemed like it was it! Super short notice, I don't get my nails done often but I have an event tomorrow and didn't want my hands looking like "worker" hands and so I went in. He did take me right away, he had a great attitude, seemed like a nice guy, I wanted a full set, I had never heard of his "gel" nails before which are like press ons with the gel inbetween. I was skeptical and because he guaranteed they would stay on I still tried them. He asked how I wanted them and I said I wanted them between coffin and square, I guess because they are pre shaped you can pick either but not something in between. I went with square, but big mistake, he could not shape them, sand down the sides, round the edges, I literally have squares on my fingers, I cried, right then and there - I'm so disappointed in the outcome. I told him I absolutely hated them, one is smaller than the rest, he said it was not. He did not offer to correct these, although he did offer the next ones on him or something along those lines but I have my event tomorrow, I wanted my hands to be gorgeous tomorrow. I won't go back, I hate my nails and just thinking about the blocks on my fingers makes me feel awful, natural nails never grow like this. They're not even straight. read more

Found this local nail salon and searched by ratings. So the entire nail appointment was good. I did a mani/pedi deluxe service. However, the nail technician did not do a very good job on what I wanted. I thought it was NOT even close to the design I showed her on photo #2 (stock photo). Disappointed actually since the entire bill was quite steep and I also left a tip. Not sure if I would go back here again. To be fair, the pedicure was great and because no design was done. Long overdue review but let me just say I love this place! I've been coming to Great Nails for a couple years now and they never fail me. Typically I come in for acrylic sets and I'm usually very particular with the way my nails are done, but every time I've come in they give me exactly what I want. Although I was a little skeptical with the new people running the place the service was still amazing. There's only a few people working, but they work fairly quick. My cousin and i *had* to get a mani/pedi the night before her wedding, so we were forced to choose from all the local places, none of which have great reviews. Long story short, it was a terrible experience. I've never had such a difficult time choosing polish. They do not seem to have many name brand polish options (mine started chipping literally the very next day), and a lot of the bottles seemed old and separated, despite that the rest of the shop was clean and bright enough. I was harassed by some local riff raff right outside the shop (some Disgustor repeatedly demanding that I raise my skirt hem so he could see the rest of my tattoo - NO. no. NO!!!). While my nails were being painted, another lady came in. Because there were only two people working there, my guy *rushed* through my nails seemingly in order to get to her more fancy, more expensive nail job. In doing so, he CUT my finger badly, and it bled long after we had left the salon, and it throbbed for hours afterward. My cousin also got a brow/lip wax and she had a HORRENDOUS reaction to the wax. So red and blistery, so bad, i thought the groom was going to kill me. A trip to Target and a couple of aloe vera slathers later, it started to calm down (phew). Hopefully the wax wasn't dirty or too hot. The best part of the experience was getting to watch old music videos. Can't say much for the services. read more

I went here on the recommendation of my mother. Would never go back. The pedicure was short and lacking. Seriously everywhere else I have gone is at least 30 minutes for a pedicure she was done in under 20. Wanted a new set. They asked me what shape and length I wanted when I stated I like them short and coffin they told me not possible. I have gotten this same shape and length done with other more skilled individuals. They didn't ask me if I wish to proceed which I didn't. Which I didn't. I have never walked out mid service before but now I can say I have.
