I got a thai tea blended with boba and unfortunately it tasted a bit burnt like maybe the tea sat too long on a burner, and the boba was hard and unenjoyable so much so that I was trying to avoid them than searching for them with my straw as I normally do withgood boba tea. Seemed popular, there were lots of people getting drinks. Walking the mall makes me thirsty. They use frozen mango. I asked the cashier if they use fresh mango and she told me that they use frozen mango. It took a little while to get my drink because there were so many other people who were ordering drinks ahead of me. However it's fairly quick to get my drink anyways. The boba at the bottom of the drink did not have much flavor. They were a little chewy like they should be. Most boba usually taste a little sweet because they've been soaking in a brown sugar mixture. However, these weren't soaking in any brown sugar mixture for a discernible amount of time, but I could taste a brown sugar liquid that was around the boba balls at the bottom of the cup. We went for an avocado freeze and a Thai milk tea, and unfortunately, they didn't have either of those beverages in stock at the time. My husband settled for an almond milk tea, and I got a horchata with boba. The woman who took our order informed us that they don't use actual tea in any of their boba drinks- they use powdered tea. For the almond milk tea, they didn't use real almond milk. My horchata drink tasted good, and it was a good level of sweetness. The boba had a nice crunch and texture. The decor inside is nice and it was very clean. My children liked the indoor swing chairs. Decent bubble tea that fills in the craving. My son got the watermelon smoothie and he said it was delicious. Service was fast, and the overall vibe of the place was hip. People insulting this place, or saying it's the best boba they've had, need to just Chill. Chill bubble tea was my fault because I didn't listen to what she was saying. She asked me if I wanted Blended or over ice and I always prefer over ice - I am so done with Blended drinks. Stupid me asked for Blended and didn't realize what I was asking for. I have issues. The milk tea here actually tastes like one of those vanilla cappuccino Starbucks drinks. Exactly like an iced cappuccino from Wilson Farms back in the day. Which isn't really a good thing LOL but it's not awful, and can be good if you're in the mood for it. Next time I will try some over ice. The tapioca was really nice and it certainly wasn't a bad drink but there was a slightly odd coffee like taste to it which leads me to give this one a 4-star rating. But I will definitely try it again. The employees had a little bit of attitude because a bunch of people were coming in they're closing but they still made my stuff for me and I appreciated it. And when I started being nice to one of them she was nice to me. As if she was surprised that someone would be. The girl that came in before me could not have rushed to get in front of me any faster. Horrible customer service by a young lady wearing an essentials hoodies and Red hair. Went in yesterday on 1/21/24 about 6:15pm and was not greeted when we walked in. Crazy thing is no one was in there! She turned her back from us for about 3-4 mins without uttering a word indicating when she'll help us or anything. I decided to greet her as a decent customer would, to which we were met with silence. I wanted to leave, but my significant other wanted one of their teas since there are none close to where we live. We ordered 2 taro smoothies and we received 2 of the worst drinks we have ever had basically chunky crushed ice with some non diary creamer and a hint of taro. The owner must be Indian or something because is very cheap. The composition should have 2 taro spoons and should be sweet however for $6 a cup we got $.50 value and we paid $12 for garbage. During Covid it isn't easy to decide to go in or stay out, but here at Chill they do not accept orders on the phone and you can not prepay so I had to go in. Chill's isn't the best bubble tea because there are only a short list of fresh fruits to choose from, but their boba (bubbles) are soft and fresh tasting. Taro with tapioca pearl smoothie... pretty simple, hard to get wrong.... unless it's watered down and more liquid than ice, so like a watered down milk drink with 1/2 the tapioca it should have. I get that the two persons working were overwhelmed. They did have a line out the door and most folks ordered more than one beverage. They ran out of mango and something else and were scrambling to fill up the fruit buckets. I would have honestly had preferred to wait five more minutes for them to restock and do my drink properly than to quickly put the ingredients in the blender while attempting to restock the fruit buckets. I was SO thrilled to find out this opened recently nearby my house. Now I have a place to go and get this delicious, strange drink. Not real milk/bubble tea. The first thing I see is that the menu either says "Smoothies" or "Over Ice" for the classic flavors. And then I asked the cashier if they have milk tea, and they said they could do any of the flavors on that list because they're made from powder. Yes, you heard me, all of their flavors are made from powder, even their so-called teas!!! I was so very disappointed, and I ordered the thai tea because I have tried instances where that powder base has been alright. I was proven wrong. It was quite honestly some of the worst milk tea I have ever had. I might as well have called it milk with a spoonful of thai tea powder. Call me spoiled coming from California, but that simply doesn't cut it for me. Will be looking to try milk tea in Chinatown.
