The food and service here are great. The interior of the restaurant is nice. They bring out white rice to go with your meal, and they also asked if we would like any condiment. We picked chili oil. It was aromatic. I got the ribs, my mom got non-spicy chicken, and my dad got spicy chicken. The ribs were extremely flavorful and spicy. I had chili oil all over my mouth and fingers after finishing them. The only fault i found was that the food could be bland if you ask them to remove the sauce. My mom did this, but it was quickly fixed by adding the sauce back to it. If you get bland food here, you are doing something wrong. If you like spicy food, check this place out. It is relatively expensive (around $18 per plate), but worth a visit if you are in the area. The plates are also filling and could easily be split or shared. read more

Came here last night for dinner. The table shared a few chicken dishes- orange chicken, general Tso, Szechuan popcorn chicken and salt and pepper chicken. We started with the Szechuan green beans and egg roll. I thought the egg roll was good, nothing special, but good and the green beans were also good. My daughter loved the salt and pepper chicken. I liked the popcorn chicken- I should have asked for it mild. I said mild to medium and it was still super spicy. My complaint was the size of the chicken pieces in both dishes. Tried this place for carry out! It's a popular spot and they are BUSY on Friday evenings. We saw lots of people dining in and waiting for a table. It was going to be an hour until the food was ready. No worries as we weren't all that hungry. We ordered mapo tofu, Dan Dan noodles, cucumber salad, and storm fillet fish. When we brought it home, it was still warm. All very delicious! But made with lots of oil and fried, it's kinda heavy. It was good to have the cucumber salad as a nice palate cleanser. The Dan Dan noodles were an appetizer so it comes in a smaller amount. It's not as spicy as what we would get at Hong Kong house, which closed. But still very delicious! The fish was my favorite. Fried with a ton of peppers. And cut in smaller pieces too! My friends and I came here and it was my first time. I was excited about their menu items because it looked authentic and delicious. There's plenty of parking inside the plaza, a decent amount of seating inside, and it was busy when we went on Friday night. We decided to order family style and got the Storm Fish, Mapo Tofu, Shanghai greens and mushrooms, and Dandan noodles. The Storm Fish was absolutely the best dish we ordered, in my opinion. The fish was battered well and super crispy, seasoned well, and cooked perfectly. The Szechuan spices weren't too overpowering but if you've never had this spice, it's a drier heat and full of flavor. The Mapo Tofu was also done very well; not too firm, not too soft. The flavor was abundant and powerful. The Shanghai greens and mushrooms was delicious! The sauce is a bit plainer, but mixed with all the Szechuan dishes, it was a great balance. The mushrooms in the dish was delicious and my favorite part of the dish. The Dandan noodles were my least favorite dish because it was too overpoweringly salty. The dish was a very small and was disappointing. The meal came with a bowl of white rice as well! Overall, the meal was delicious and I enjoyed all of it. Staff was nice but a bit inattentive and we had to flag down our servers few times for utensils, water, and our check. I would definitely come back for more! This has quickly become my favorite szechuan restaurant in Columbus. The food is great and fairly priced but service can be hit or miss, esp as an Asian person who can't speak mandarin. I've eaten in and had takeout from here and have not yet been disappointed by the food. I keep coming back for their bean curd with egg yolk, which if you are a fan of salted egg yolk, is the dish for you. Its essentially a nonspicy mapo tofu with salted egg yolk flavor instead of the usual szechuan spices. The chongqing popcorn chicken is also a staple for me. Fried chicken pieces with all the szechuan spices? Yes, please! I'm excited to go back and try more dishes as I haven't been disappointed by anything yet! As for service, I didn't really have an issue but there was definitely communication issues. If you are Asian and speak Mandarin, you'll be fine. If you are not Asian, you'll be fine. read more

I was despondent when Fortune closed during the...ahem.... "emergency" a few years back. Great authentic Sichuan food. Gone forever, like so much else. (*sob*) But I'm better now.... really, I am. I found Chilispot. Close to the same menu, but I believe the food may be even better. Thank you, Baby Jesus! We tried several dishes, not one of them any less than very good. Reviewers rave about the storm fish, and I loved it - light crispy batter, nice little chili, ginger, garlic chunks and peanuts in oil sprinkled over it, giving changing pop-rock like bursts of different flavors while you eat. Up scale Sichuan fish McNuggets. Delicious and easy to throw down the hatch. But I thought these even better: The sour fish soup. The fish is so smooth, mild and comforting, contrasted with the vinegar and few chilis in the tasty light broth. The huge bowl you are served, with rice on the side, would be alone be great meal for two people. The "sichuan vegetables," a baby type of cabbage (choi sum?) and great big chunks of fresh shitake with a thick brown sauce was a great cooling dish to balance the taste of the others. Not over cooked either, it was perfect. The "house made green bean jelly" (mung bean powder jelly) was thick, ice cold and had a tangy black vinegar, chili oil, garlic etc. sauce over it. We all thought it was strange. Then strange/ good. Then boy is this ever good. Then finished it off. Sure will come back to this one. My favorite though was the shrimp, ham, and chicken wing dry pot. It had lotus root and cauliflower in it as well, that seemed to absorb the flavors of the meat. The taste was unlike any chinese dish I have had before. There was cumin in there and the cilantro, but not sure what else besides, of course, lots of chilis. Surprisingly, the salty ham really came through adding to the nice big shell-on shrimp and the de-boned tender wings. I kept diving back into it, trying to figure it all out. I failed. Nice simple interior, nice booths with a "hotch pot" (well that's what it said painted on the walls) pad in the center of the table, for said dish. My wife and I decided to order takeout since we were in the area but didn't want to eat inside. We got the General Tso's and the Kung Pao chicken. Both were labeled as spicy and were priced a little more than I was expecting but I thought the look meant it was going to taste great. Both meals were lacking in a lot of flavor. My General Tso's wasn't even spicy and I even ate all the peppers. The chicken was pretty big, unlike in the Kung Pao. My wife's Kung Pao was more disappointing. Everything in it was not great. The peppers didn't make it spicy, the flavor wasn't there at all, and the chicken looked like it wasn't chicken. I was really hoping to like this place since I don't have a go to restaurant yet but I'm sad to say we might not be back. It's good with fresh tasting foods and ingredients. Like it's name suggests with the chilis, depending on what you order it can be spicy. We got the popcorn chicken, spicy dumplings, egg rolls, and rice. Everything seems priced a la cart as you would think if ordering a main entree at least there would be complimentary rice but there wasn't. That's an extra fee and charge on top. Egg rolls tasted fresh and in house made as opposed to out of some freezer food section, wontons were spicy and meaty, rice was tasty and not too sticky, starchy, or gummy and the spicy popcorn chicken was blazing which requires low and slow consumption with some water or milk to wash it down but the flavor profile is tasty, delicious, and unique. This is the reason why we got take out here is because we didn't feel like the same archetypical dishes you can get at any Asian inspired place we wanted something different and different and tasty is definitely what this place is. Customer service was fine as well. Again, no need to treat me like a king because if I worked there I wouldn't act that way towards random customers as well but if you just show human decency then you'll get a good review which this spot is getting and deserves. I did a quick pick up order of sesame chicken. I arrived a little early, and the waiting area is very nice and organized for different orders (i.e. client pick up, Door Dash, etc). There were seats available and music playing. On the other side of the restaurant was an open dine-in area that looked very, as well. As soon as the order came out, the friendly staff person let us know. There was plentiful parking in the shopping center lot. The sesame chicken was excellent - a generously sized portion that was flavorful and filling. The chicken is tender and juicy, and it came with some nice pieces of broccoli, as well as a separate box of rice. We'll definitely be back again and will certainly be trying more dishes! read more

I have never been so impressed by a restaurant on my first try. First impressions were "man! Are they busy!!" On the counter there were several orders for Door Dash/Uber eats drivers to pick up and as we got seated in the dining room there were two tables completely covered in to go containers and a ginormous wok full of food that they were dishing out. Seems like they had a huge catering order or something going out as well. We ordered the egg rolls to start off, and although they came with the meal, they were totally worth it. The wrapper was perfectly crisp, thin and delicate but had a good flavor on its own. The stuffing was edge to edge and overall flavorful. The dipping sauce was delicious and just to find one fault I would have to say nowhere near enough for two egg rolls but they were happy to provide us with more. The shredded pork with garlic sauce was DELICIOUS!!! Not super garlicky (which I don't mind cause I love garlic) but flavor intense along with other things. The black mushrooms, peppers and chutes were a great pairing and went well with the whole dish. Mom ordered the general tso's chicken and it had a great texture and flavor. We asked for it spicy and while my first bite left me wanting the heat really built a nice bit as I continued to eat. The flavor and color of the sauce and texture of the breading reminded me more of an Orange or sweet and sour chicken but the flavor and crispiness of the chicken was so impressive I didn't even care. Lastly, we also tried the kidney appetizer. We asked how big it was and were told it was small and were shown a plate the size of a large deck of cards so we decided to try it. Came out as a small entree plate packed with meat and covered in a chili oil sauce. The sauce was great, meat wasn't bad but the whole dish was a little cold (not sure if it's meant to be served hot). Overall, not my favorite but I'm not a fan of organ meat so I can't really fault them on that front. Left there stuffed and with plenty of food for the next day or two. I since it's opening, I've already been here three times so it's safe to say it's my new favorite szechuan restaurant in Columbus! There is a new Szechuan restaurant opened in the Kenny Centre Mall. I like the little remodel that they had done and the simple wallpaper. If you can't handle too much spicy/heat, you don't have to worry. As they do have pretty of non-spicy options. Just look for the chili sign by the dish name. If you are a fan of salty egg, you have to try the Bean curd with egg yolk. It's technically soft tofu with egg yolk sauce. Even though it only contain the minimal of ingredients, the flavor is incredible. The sauce is full with richness and creaminess of the salty egg yolk. You can definitely taste a lot of crumb of the egg yolk and the perfect companion, tofu. Another of my favorite will be the appetizer, Chicken with savory and spicy sauce. I tried this dish in other different restaurant and each have its own take on this dish. I would said Chili Spot have the one that I think it's on point. The base chili oil sauce itself contain just enough heat, along with the moist chicken, nuttiness from the peanut on the top and a touch of freshness from the cucumber. Finally a Chinese restaurant that can make a proper Kung Pao chicken, not one filled with veggies and a tiny bit of meat! The brown sauce was excellent, not too sweet, not too spicy, perfect. The chicken was quite tender and plentiful. It was chicken, chilis, onions, peanuts and brown sauce, just like it should be. All the food we had was excellent and the portions were huge. Lots of leftovers to go home, enough for a big lunch the next day! Staff was very friendly and attentive. This was formerly Mr. Pot, right next to Pepperidge Farm in Kenny Center. I was surprised to see so many 5 star reviews when I got on Yelp which heightened my curiosity even more so I finally decided to give it a try. To start off, the staff is very friendly! I came on a rainy day with a friend so there weren't many people dining in at the time. We were told to seat ourselves. We decided on 2 appetizers and 2 entrees. Although on the pricier side of Chinese food, the portions were very big! The food was very fresh and tasty. The spiciness is just how I like it. It literally looked like we didn't even touch our food at the end of the meal and we tried to at least finish our appetizers (only managed to finish the wontons LOL). I would say that it's pretty worth it! The leftovers will probably last me a good 2 days. I really wanted to try the jelly dessert but I was way too full. The location of the restaurant is also very convenient. You could go grab bubble tea at KFT afterwards or explore the Japanese stores in the same plaza! Wow! We went here based on Yelp reviews and were not disappointed. We dined in at lunch time. Bright, clean, and were seated with plenty of distance. Dishes we ate are in the photos except the potstickers. We ate them too fast but they were perfect! The dough was crisp on one side and perfectly cooked (not gummy).
