Someone needs to have a serious talk with the chef here. No I don't consider Chilis to be 5 star fine dining but the one in Methuen MA is delicious. This one was awful. A veggie burger should not have my husband running to the bathroom for the rest of the day (sorry to be gross). My shrimp fajitas were undercooked and slimy, drowning in grease. We threw away our to-go boxes immediately. Both of us were sick for the rest of the day. The waitress was actually a little TOO attentive and seemed like she wanted us out of there!! we went during lunch and it was not busy at all. She took our appetizer dish before we were done, seemingly in anticipation to bring the food out. We hadn't even taken a bite when she asked how everything was tasting, and had just started eating when she almost started to take our plates, and then said "oh I see you're still working." Never really had great service when eating here. The food is always sub par and not great. This last time we sat in the bar lounge area on the high top tables for lunch. During the week we only have around an hour for a lunch break and we ended up being there for almost an hour and 1/2. The double burger lunch was meh. I used to come here now and again, and what a difference!! horrible!! we sat in the bar area, our waitress was really nice, no chips and salsa while we waited but ok, we ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and got a tiny microwaved piece of shriveled chicken, my chicken crispers were soggy and cold. horrible!!! we wont be back! i want my money back money back!! read more

We go there about once every 2 mos or so and it is usually good. I get the triple play getting the buffalo chicken, chicken crispers and the sliders. The last 2 times the chicken was over cooked and dry. The crispers looked like they were cooked in burnt oil. I should have spoke to the manager but I didnt. Must be a new cook. My kids food was ok. I've eaten at many Chili's over the years and recognize the chain to be middle of the road and do not have higher expectations than that. The Chilis in Salem is really far below the average Chili's. I took my daughter and 3 grandchildren there today for lunch. The first thing I noticed at the table we were directed to, was that is was dirty, having a layer of greasy scum type material on all the wooden surfaces which encompass the tile top. The tile was less than stellar as well. I asked to move to another table which was about the same. The tables are all filthy. Even the windows were disgusting with grime and finger prints and in some areas food drips. I mean I know kids will touch windows, I had 5, but these windows look they haven't been washed in a very long time. Tables, you could scratch a name into the grease with a fingernail! The manager came over when we said we were unhappy with the food and did credit one dish which was the fajitas. Poorly prepared, certainly not grilled, as the menu indicated. "Oh we got rid of all the grills, we don't grill anything here anymore, just heat it on conveyor belts!" Yuck, um your menu says grilled. It was all just horrible from start to finish, and this is the first time I've ever written a restaurant review that was negative. I'm not a complainer!! Never again! Server was OK, thus the 1 star. Our chicken and steak fajitas were luke warm when they came out, despite waiting 40 minutes for them. We were also the only ones there aside from a few people at the bar. We ordered the meal for 2, but it only included 8 tiny pieces of meat. The menus says that the chicken and steak comes grilled, yet ours looked like it was microwaved. When we asked how they cooked the meat, we were told that the meat is pre cooked and warmed on a conveyor belt! Eww seriously!!! So much for "grilled". They also do not serve any rice or beans with their tiny portion fajitas. Aside from the crappy food the place was also filthy. Every table was coated in a thick coat of filth! Yuck!!! i used to love the fajitas here. But the tortillas are actually smaller now and there was not a lot of meat in my steak fajitas. i had to rip the meat down to get enough to make 4 fajitas. Plenty of onions and peppers though. Even the fry pan they were served in was downsized. It was like a kid's meal. It was very noisy but i attributed that to eating in the bar area. Never felt that way in the main dining area. I was disappointed because i can get fajitas like these anywhere. It will be a long time before i return here. BTW, the waitress was excellent. read more

This place sucks! Sat down right away. Waitress didn't come over to the table for at least 15 mins to introduce herself and take our drink orders. When she finally came over to us she had no expression on her face! We ordered two bottled waters and a soda. That came 15 minutes later. We decided to place our order because she didn't even ask us. We ordered the wings for an appetizer and also ordered our dinner just to be on the safe side. 30 mins later the wings arrived. They were not even cooked. So by then my bf was getting really pissed and it takes a lot to piss him off. He called the manager over and told him about the sucky service. The manager apologized and said if there is anything you need let me know. So my bf said how about our meal? He personally went into the kitchen and brought it out himself. The fajitas were set down in front of us with a steaming hot pan but the chicken was ICED COLD!!! My bf walked into the kitchen and got the manager. He told him the food was cold. He said to him touch the meat it's cold. The manager said no I believe you and it went back and fourth and we just decided to get up and leave. I love Chili's, I go there sometimes multiple times per week. I've never been disapointed by the food or the service. My favorite entree is definitely the quesadilla explosion salad, but I have also really enjoyed the chicken club tacos and the unlimited soup and salad lunch. Then of course the desserts are amazing aswell, my favorite being either the molten chocolate lava cake or the brownie sundae. I most often go to the Salem, NH location, and the waitstaff there are always pleasant and enthusiastic. One of my favorite restaurants of all time! read more

Ordered 1/2 rack ribs that was supposed to include potato wedges and steamed brocolli- vegetables didn't come- potato wedges were nothing more than french fries- meat was just warmed up with some type of sauce on top- never asked if I wanted refill on my iced tea. Had a horrible experience here last night! Walked in with my family to try and have a nice dinner. As soon as we walked in there was no one there to greet us. Took them about 5-10 minutes to acknowledge that we were waiting to be greeted and brought to a seat. Multiple servers passed by us, saw us and did not say anything. They did not even have the courtesy to say "we will be with you shortly." After we were tired of being ignored I asked my husband to go over to the bar area and ask the server if anyone would be helping us. When my husband was on his way back the greeter finally comes out and doesn't even give a warm welcome or apologizes for having us wait. All she said was table for 3? I said Yes, and then I was asked if the baby needed a high chair. I said yes, and she said there would be a wait. As I looked around there were plenty of tables available. My husband then says it's ok we can sit at a booth then without a high chair so we wouldn't have to keep waiting. The greeter than leaves as if she was checking something out but again neglects to let us know why she was leaving. She returns and then says if we would like to sit on the other side of the restaurant. At this point we are already irritated enough that we did not want to eat there. My husband politely declined and we told her that we would be leaving. I hadn't been to chilis in years because I also did not have a great experience when I went years ago. We decided to give it a try yesterday to see if it had improved but I see it has not. We will not be visiting again. read more

It has been a while since we always seem to have a bad experience. A few years ago my husband recieved what seemed to be a piece of plastic bag in his mashed potatoes. But thought we'd give it another chance. We were seated right away. Took our time ordering, but the food seemed to take longer than usual, enough that my 7 and 11 yr olds were complaining. Server never came back to bring more drinks nor did he let us know food was coming during long wait. I ordered fajitas, the skillet was not sizzling which made me wonder if my food was cooked. The side of rice and beans I paid extra for was cold and I had to remind the server to bring tortillas. My husband had enchiladas and asked for the sour cream on the side cause he doesnt eat it and he was charged for a side of sour cream. I overheard servers complaining about customers. Saw the table next to us received an incorrect order. Another customer nearby got up to get there own silverware. And our server never asked us during our meal if we needed anything else or how everything was. Needless to say I know why I havent been there in so long and will not be going back! read more

Tonight my family and I had a terrible experience at this Chili's. The quality of ingredients in our meals was very poor (brown lettuce) poorly prepared (ingredients missing, overlooked and soggy) served cold, and beyond unappetizing. The french fries even tasted like they were microwaved. Not a single dish appeared to have fresh ingredients. Our plates were served after sitting on the line for ages. We waited for quite a while to eat (40 min?) The greens on the plates were scorched and the cheese coagulated. The fried items were cold, and when we asked for a fresh order, we received the same food - microwaved. It was a mess. Despite having a very patient, attentive waitress, I can say without a doubt that this was our most unsatisfying dining experience of 2014. The manager helped but we were completely turned off. I would have rather spent my money at Taco Bell; a place I never ever visit. I will never return. read more

Tonight I dined in at the Salem nh location and it was the most awful experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I am very leinent when I go out to eat due to the fact I work in a restaurant and I know how hectic things can get but I was so disappoint in this experience. My waitress was awful only checked on us 4 times and left us waiting. I was seated right next to the kitchen so that I can see in and she was messing around the entire time as we were waiting. The worst party of my experience was that when my server was brining out my meal she dropped the bun off of my burger then proceeded to place it back on the burger and put the plate on top of me. I didn't eat it as you could imagine and she didn't even offer to take it of my meal and she didn't even offer me something new. It was the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant and by far the grossest. Here's to say I will never be dining in or eating out at your restaurant again and I think you need to retrain your servers on how to properly treat guest! read more
