I ordered a chicken sandwich and to my surprise it was a massive size piece of chicken on a tiny bun struggling to hold all that. it tastes good, but was wayyy too big I literally had to cut it in half and had a hard time just eating half of it. My family and I occasionally dine at Chili's Grill & Bar in Rocky Mount. While we are not frequent customers, we have visited enough times to notice a consistent pattern with the customer service. Unfortunately, our latest experience was the most disappointing one yet. From the moment customers walk through the door, there seems to be very little effort made to create a welcoming environment. Most visits consist of being asked how many people are in the party and then being seated without a greeting, smile, or sense of hospitality. While we have had a few servers over the years who were friendly and attentive, the majority of our experiences have felt rushed and impersonal. During this most recent visit, the lack of professionalism was the worst. We were not greeted upon entering, which has become somewhat expected at this location. After being seated, our server approached the table, appearing uninterested and irritated. She did not greet us, introduce herself, or make any attempt to create a positive dining experience. Instead, she immediately asked for our drink order. As we began placing an appetizer order, she walked away from the table before we could finish speaking. Once the drinks arrived, we were finally able to place the appetizer's order properly. Although my family tried to continue enjoying our conversation and celebration, the server's attitude affected the overall atmosphere of the evening. What makes this situation frustrating is that the food itself is actually good. The quality of the meals is the primary reason we continue returning from time to time despite the poor service experiences. I genuinely believe management should evaluate the customer experience more closely, possibly through a secret diner or internal review process. There appears to be a serious need for hospitality and customer service retraining among the staff. Customers should feel welcomed when they enter the restaurant, and servers should approach tables professionally by greeting guests, introducing themselves, and creating a pleasant environment throughout the meal. The food keeps customers coming back, but customer service plays a major role in whether people truly enjoy their experience and recommend the establishment to others. ROCKY MOUNT NC: Worst Chilis I've been to. Stood at the host stand for 5 minutes and no one came to seat me. They were not busy at all. Was finally seated. Sat for 22 minutes and no one came and got my drink order or even talked to me. I called their phone number and explained that I had been waiting and told them where I was sitting. Rocky Mount, NC. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This is absolutely, by FAR, one of the worst places I've ever been to. The tip-off should've been the lack of any customers for lunchtime on a SATURDAY. Apparently, the community has figured this place out. Where to even start? Well, the server. Rude, inattentive and pushy. I ordered a beer, and 15 minutes later, still no beer. She asked me what I ordered. Seriously? Aren't you the same person who took the order? A few minutes later, the food comes out. I ordered nachos with beef, queso and guacamole; the works. What do I get? Some pita chips with a lump of sour cream and lettuce in the middle, and nothing else. WTF is that? Then I argued with the server over what their menu said it was, and what I actually got. That's when she started getting huffy. I gave it right back to her. The other guy in our group who ordered nachos saw mine, and immediately canceled his order. Neither one of us ate, except for the really bad quesadilla app (pictured). I was seriously close to ordering a pizza and having it delivered to this place, so I could actually EAT. There was also a couple in our group who ordered the fajitas. Terrible. The steak was WAY OVER-cooked...to the point where you could hurt someone if you threw it at them. Hard as a rock. Lastly, the restrooms. Oy! The only good thing I can say is our server was fantastic! Her name was Jazz so if you go in there looking for a personable waitress ask for her! We got seated and our table was filthy. The booth was even filthy. The bathroom was nasty as well. I am assuming they were short staffed so we understand that and we were just patient. Some at my table got steaks and they were good. The service has never been very impressive here and was particularly poor on my last visit but the server apologized in advanced and advised us that it would be terrible due to callouts and her having to curse at another employee, etc. Nevertheless, the food is not bad. I can't say that I won't come back here again when I'm in the city but it won't be high on list. The crispers are a better portion size than I originally thought they'd be so that was a plus. We ordered the Triple Dipper app with slider burgers, boneless wings, fried mozzarella bites, and fries, and the 10 oz honey chipotle sirloin and shrimp, loaded mashed potatoes and corn on the cob.
