Was in town for a Family Reunion and decided to Google for a local restaurant for Friday's dinner. The food was ok but quite expensive considering the small portions and the lack of mouth watering taste. The Host was nice and welcoming. The new waitress was slow as a "Sloth" but had a great attitude. The restaurant was very clean, pleasant and relaxing. Please remove the "Danish BBQ ribs"from the menu. The Ribs were nasty, small and drastically overpriced. Definitely was not expecting Ribs like this from the great State of North Carolina. First visit, Last visit!!! read more

Was in town for work and the person working the lobby of our hotel recommended this local spot. My coworker and I both thought the brisket burger sounded amazing, so we had to get it! I was surprised when it came, because I was not expecting a chunk of brisket that thick! The portions are good!!! It's a dark restaurant, not well lit, but I honestly don't mind that kind of vibe. LouReda's....it is the place you might pass by anytime you are in Rocky Mount. It is a small place as you find a place to go. But stop and step inside and it is bigger than you imagine. It is not fancy, but once you try something it is different. This is American Cooking but with a style that is special. See what awaits. When we went in I had worked up at the Rocky Point Markets for furniture both in the spring and the fall of each year. It was always filled with folks from everywhere to shop, and see and buy for the next season. There were plenty of places to have lunch. But when dinner came it was special. The local style of cooking was different. It might have the same meal as you would find in another region, but here it was different as it is based on the cook / chef. Tonight we stopped in and the person helping us was very special. She told us of what was available and what was not. She gave the details and let us order. First we had to have an Arnold Palmer. Naturally, it was different than the person down the block. This was not sweet as usually. It was an equal mike and perfect to have. It gave us something to think about. First up was the Mac & Cheese. But unlike normal Mac & Cheese, with this we ordered shrimp. Not what you expect, this was unique. The Mac & Cheese was a combination of fresh pasta and mixed with four different types of cheese. It was mixed together with a cream and butter. It was not a firm mix but a mix that was moist and tasty with each bit you took. That alone was a meal unto itself. Being mixed with shrimp was different. The shrimp where not small. They were a good size. And there was almost a dozen mixed in. They were not placed onto. Being mixed in they aded to the flavor and taste. There was no spices. Just fresh shrimp with pasta and a cheese mix. A dip of bread helped to take it all in. Next we did have Baby Back Ribs. These were very fresh and tasty. Cooked to the right point hthey literally fell off the bone itself with the touch of a fork. The taste was slightly mixed with honey. Sweet but spicy. Naturally had to have some home made coleslaw with this. Plus an order of sweet potato fries. And these were fresh. Alone with a drink these would have been a good snack to have together. I could have had another plate of these alone. The two dishes were perfect. Yet, we did need to have dessert when the couple at the next table ordered it and shared it. This was Bread Pudding, topped with vanilla ice cream and served with Bourbon sauce. This was heaven itself. You did not need more. There people could have shared this one item. Again, it was freshly made and warm. Ideal. The ice cream was made that morning. And, as for the bourbon, you could have had a glass of this. Spread over the bread pudding it was how we sometime drink an Irish Coffee. Had to have that taste with each bite. Overall, this was a special place to for a meal. It was truly unique for the region and for the chef. The team was a great help. The price was great. As for the people who were there, it was packed. Many came from the places where they are creating the new furniture and items that will be on display for the next market in Rocky Point for next spring. They knew where the place is and what to order. It is truly the right spot for a good meal. It is worth the visit next time I am in town. read more

We stopped in here randomly while visiting Flying Iron Harley-Davidson and we were blown away by how good this place was. We definitely had low expectations for Rocky Mount but good lord, this restaurant would absolutely kill it if it was down in Raleigh. I had a hard time deciding between the BBQ Brisket Hash and the Smoked Chicken and Waffles. I really love smoked wings and smoked chicken but the BBQ brisket hash sounded really unique. The server talked me into the brisket hash and she was right! It was outstanding, extraordinary, and just downright delicious. My girlfriend is gluten-free and they don't have a dedicated gluten-free menu but the staff is very knowledgeable about it and were able to identify items for her to order. The kitchen is also trained for safety but there is no dedicated gluten-free space so cross contamination may occur. Despite not having a gluten-free menu, they do have a dedicated gluten-free dessert which is a pan baked chocolate chip cookie with ice cream and strawberries. Of course we had to get one and it was delicious. Plenty of parking out front. The inside is quite large with a good number of seating options. Service was really good and the food was top notch. We will be back and we might bring a bunch of our motorcycle friends next time. read more

The food was ok, but not remarkable. We had the meatloaf, with truffle mac, and a tuna salad. The meatloaf was ok, the truffle Mac was ok and the tuna salad was a little less than ok. The tuna itself was good but the greens were basically a heap of stems. I understand there are stems on greens but these stems were pronounced. And profuse. The salad was memorable for the wrong reasons. The star of the show was appetizer of Brussels sprouts! I don't particularly like Brussels sprouts but they did a masterful job of roasting them and seasoning them. Somehow they made those little grassy tasting heads very tasty. They still tasted like grass mind you, but a nicely roasted and flavorful grass. We (mostly me) demolished the entire platter. Ambiance leaves a lot to be desired. It feels like you're eating in converted office space. Certainly no cozy nooks, or mood lighting. For the money I've had better food and better ambiance for sure, especially as this wasn't an inexpensive menu. Kudos on the sprouts though. They were as delicious as it's possible to make a sprout. read more

The service is excellent. The appetizer of fried calamari and shrimp was delicious. My wife had the brisket and said it was delicious. I had the Danish baby back ribs which were tinder and tasty. The only disappointment came with the side of sautéed mushrooms which had a very bitter. Overall we will be back. read more

My family and I went for lunch. The restaurant is in a very nice location and very intimate upon entrance. We were greeted and seated immediately. The waiter was very attentive for the most part though at times I feel she was gone a little too long. I had the Mac and cheese with grill chicken, my friend had the impossible burger with sweet potato fries, and my sister had the wings. My friend and my food was great. My sister did not feel her wings were completely done and our party agreed. However, when we told the waitress she told us that it was the smoking technique that was used to prepare the chicken. My sister opted to not eat the wings. Better safe than on the toilet. I do want to shed light on the dripping sauce for the sweet potato fries. It was very tasty. We stumbled upon this gem while traveling to the beach. Quiet and unassuming, we weren't sure if our casual attire was appropriate but soon realized all are welcome. Our server, I think her name was Michelle, greeted us immediately with a big smile! She was my favorite part of the meal. Attentive, funny and outgoing! We ordered the smoked wings, which were delicious! Had a hint of cinnamon as well. Huge portion of 5 giant wings. For dinner my husband had the brisket and 1/2 rack of ribs. He said they were very good and the ribs fell right off the bone. I had the Mac and cheese with blackened shrimp which was to die for. Back again 11/03/2024 Stopped by on our way down to Florida again. Nothing fancy... bright, bench seats... a few big screen TVs here and there... but the food was good. I decided to try this place on one of my visits to see my parents in Rocky Mount, NC. The restaurant decor is quaint and not overly done. My favorite parts were the huge chalkboard menus on the wall because there is nothing worse than trying to squint to see the writing. lol The service was excellent and our server was on point with her recommendations. I'm always wary about ordering oysters with no ocean in sight, but they were chargrilled to perfection! I almost ordered more! The shrimp risotto was surprisingly delicious and filling. When I first saw there were only 4 shrimp I felt disappointed, but trust me when I say, they were huge and any more would've been too much. On our way back up from Florida. Rocky Mount is the perfect halfway point heading north. We stopped at Lou Reda's for dinner with friends who were part of our caravan. It was great food to nourish the soul after 12 hours in a car. The brisket burger was perfectly cooked. A good size Patti, pink in the center as we requested, with a big slab of juicy flavorful brisket on top. It was served with a beautifully executed coleslaw on a soft squishy bun. The french fries were well seasoned. We also ordered a beet salad, piled high with red and golden beets, and lots of flavorful textured toppings from pickled peppers, golden raisins to crunchy pork rinds. The salad dressing was a perfect compliment. The best part about the meal was Christiy. She was filled with great recommendations and a personality that just sparkled. After all those hours in a Car, she made us feel like she had personally welcomed us into her own home. We will be back next year on our way down to Florida. read more

We stopped by between Christmas concerts in Rocky Mount. I had long ago heard about this place. Since I don't often get to The Mount, I had not tried LouReda's. Even on a Sunday evening, this place was lively. The space was clean and open with good music. Our waitress was attentive and friendly with good suggestions. She was willing to share some of the history about the restaurant. I had a burger which I must say was one of the best I have ever had. Hot, well seasonedand generously portioned. For dessert I had the key lime pie which came with garnishments that let you know the dish was created by someone who understands how flavors complement each other. It was great! I was surprised that my party of two were greeted and seated so quickly on a Saturday evening. Our server started out on point but slipped up a bit when the time came to bring us our bills. We ordered pork skins with cheese dip and they were pure perfection-they were still crackling when dropped at our table!!!! Who would have thought to dip pork rinds into some velveta cheese concoction?!? I ordered a short rib pasta dish that was also really good! I opted to get the bread pudding to go bc I was so full after those pork rinds and pasta and after 2 bites I opted to save the rest of it for breakfast.
