This is the ultimate hole in the wall to top ALL! This is in a small strip mall that you would rather not look at ,much less stop at. That would be your first mistake! The pimento cheese on toast was wonderful, only to be topped by Granny's soup (beef and vegetables). My son had the fried flounder and he thought it was fantastic. I know, I know, the parking lot is gravel, but trust me, you have to try this place out!

Great breakfast! Clean and inviting. Staff was extremely attention. Downright pleasant! Easy to find 8 minutes off I95

We were traveling I95 North and missed O My Lard in Elm City but found the Chew & Chat Cafe on Yelp in time to get off the exit. Someone else posted that you should try it even though the exterior looks a little sketchy. It's in a strip mall, but they were so right. I had the Southern burger. The pimento cheese tasted the way my grandmother used to make it. Others in our party had the chicken salad, grilled chicken, and fresh fruit. It all tasted fresh and so much better than a fast food fix. It wasn't too far off the interstate and was definitely worth the extra mile or two. They had iced lemon pound cake. We were too full to eat it, but we purchased a slice for the road..The service was fast and friendly. I would definitely stop again when we are near Rocky Mount.

I originally didn't think I'd finish this salad but it was really fresh and delicious. Very low carb meal. Next time I might try chicken instead of burgers. Husband had the Rocky Balboa burger and a side salad instead of fries. He was a little disappointed in the small size of the burger but it was otherwise good (cooked medium well but not dry) and the salad was fresh. Service was friendly but server had a little trouble remembering if they had Guinness. I would expect the servers to have this information ready as they serve primarily burgers and BEER, ya know. It was an early Fri nt dinner for us so not crowded or busy yet. Noise level was moderate and we could still talk without raising our voices.

Our server was super friendly and informative. We shared that we live in Raleigh and learned that they also have a location in Raleigh on Hillsborough Street. We already have plans to check out the Raleigh location this weekend! The food was all amazing! Clear standouts were the eggrolls and the smash burgers. The sweet potato waffle fries were amazing too. We enjoyed the 90s music and the movie decor on the walls. I'm so glad Yelp suggested we check this place out and I'm even happier to know they have a Raleigh location.

When I arrived, the line was quite long, but it moved quickly. Their intercom was having some issues as it was very low, I could barely hear the person repeat my order back to me. The cashier at the window was very friendly, which I appreciated. However, I noticed that the plates were a bit messy. There was sauce on top of them...whoever packed the order had messy hands. When I opened the bags, both portions of coleslaw had slid under the chicken. I suspect this happened when the cashier handed me the bag, as it was held sideways. I also found a french fry in the slaw on one of the plates. I ordered the chicken platter (dark meat), which includes two pieces of dark meat and two sides. I had the baked beans and coleslaw for both. The chicken was really moist and crispy, and the coleslaw was crunchy and just right! The baked beans were tasty, although I'm not a huge fan of pork; I was surprised to find shredded pork mixed in, as this was my first time ordering the baked beans. Overall, I would rate my experience a 3.5 out of 5. I deducted points mainly for presentation, as I tend to be a bit OCD. I'll likely return, but I hope for a better presentation next time.

The burgers were okay, but didn't come out like we had ordered them ("Do you want lettuce, tomato, onion?" Yes. So why didn't we get them then?). Our egg rolls were literally dripping with grease and didn't even come with a dipping sauce or anything like the photos online showed. They were very disappointing. The so-called "loaded" fries were not loaded by any stretch of the imagination (just a hint of smoked turkey and shredded cheese) and the cheese wasn't even melted. That's NOT what I would ever called "loaded" considering there wasn't even ketchup, sauces, garnish or anything. If sauces exist, the customer shouldn't have to be the one to know to ask, the server should have suggested it or it should just come standard without asking. The meal was a letdown tbh. My advice to the owner is if you're going to put beautiful photos of your food on social media to lure in customers, you should try and make the food look similar to those photos when you're serving your customers IRL otherwise people feel like they got bait and switched. I know the restaurant business is hard, I want y'all to succeed.

This is your typical independent roadside joint that was popular back in the 1950's but have now managed to die out in most parts of the country. There is ample parking out front, and the area you order from (pictured) is inside a set of double doors. There are places to sit, including a cool old school rocking chair, while you wait for your food to come out. All items are made to order here, so you will have to wait a bit but it is worth the wait. For breakfast my favorite is the wagon train sandwich. This is double bacon, fried egg, and pimento spread on a Kaiser roll. Killer flavor combo and be sure to get a side order of hash browns extra crispy to go along with it. The homemade biscuits here are similarly a must try. This place closes at 2 each day, so keep this in mind if you are after some lunch. The Big Ben burger is essentially a homemade bacon double cheese burger topped with their house made chili. Yum. It's a winner. They also have daily specials which you will find on a dry erase board inside where you order. This is mainly a take out joint, but they have an outdoor picnic area which makes for a great place to post up on nice days. Staff is super friendly and prices are cheap. I am sure I will be back next time I am in town.
