Wanted a burger, that wasn't from BK or McDonald's. Driving around, we saw this location and decided to give it a try. I have had it in Raleigh but hadn't noticed there was a location in Wilson. The closed at 9pm and I walked in around 8:30pm. Very well lit location. There was no wait and the staff were completing the closing actions. However, they were still welcoming and did not make it seem like I was a burden coming in this late. They took my order and answered any questions I had about the burgers. As they were cleaning, I decided that I would stay near the door to stay out of the way. When I say they were taking their time to clean - it was refreshing to know they take keeping a clean location for their customers to enjoy their food. It took about 20 mins to get my order complete (noted there was 4 burgers that needed to be prepared - so I wasn't upset at all) - meaning the food would be FRESH! You order through a kiosk, which I despise doing. I got the cheese bites ( amazing ) the sweet and spicy melt( fresh, great taste a little to much butter used on the bun) hubby got classic cola burger he truly enjoyed it !! This place isn't bad but, I do caution you if you are a vegetarian, be very careful about ordering food from here. I went in and was very clear about the burger. I wanted, also please keep it away from the grease from the other burgers as I will be in the bathroom all afternoon. Very specific detail in my request for the burger. My order was acknowledged, accepted, and pushed through. There is only me and one other customer in there, and then they were making orders for pick up from whatever food app was in play. I'm having a conversation with a person who was gonna be running the grill and I believe he was the guy in charge and we were talking about burgers and asked you what I ordered, I told him that he went to look at their receipts that were there as he didn't recall seeing anything like that come across. He picked my receipt and came back and told me, I'm glad we talked because that is not at all what's on this order. What's on this order is a regular hamburger with no onions and the other things that I said. So the guy taking my order would it end up getting me a big fatty, which means I would've been redecorating the bathroom for a while. The guy took real good care to cook my burger away from any animal fat and was phenomenal on the way that he recovered that issue. Just a word of caution, they are not likely to cook your impossible burger away from the fat, you have to go in and place your order in person and be very specific with them. If there's a young high school looking guy taking your order, double check with it before he pushed it through because he he may give you a very unpleasant experience. read more

Really good burger with unique presentation. During our visit the staff was very kind, health grade was a 98.5, and the burgers / sides were quite good. I was looking fir a good veggie burger while in town and stumbled upon Wayback Burgers. I got a double veggie burger "our way" with house made chips. The burger was very feeling and I definitely could've settled on a single patty. It looked small on the website but truly isn't. The patties were flavorful but the burger as a whole was underwhelming, even with the wayback sauce. The house made chips, however, were the star of the show. They were soooo good! We drove over to Wilson from Greenville just to get a great burger from Wayback. They were way back all right. Here are the details. On this particular Wednesday evening the restaurant wasn't that busy. Only two other customers in the store. When we approached the counter to give our order, the cashier gave us a really concerned look and said it would be at least an hour. Are you kidding me? For a hamburger? Our experience at Wayback Burgers on 6/25/2022 was a pleasant surprise. We went years ago when it first opened and were not impressed. This visit, however, was much better. I chose the Carolina Burger which features chili and slaw.. the bread was super soft and fresh and the chili had a great flavor. The meat wasn't overcooked and overall it was a great burger. Tots are tots.. I asked when ordering if I could have a mixture of onion rings and tots since they do have an "O-fries" option on the menu but for whatever reason she was unwilling to accommodate, which was a bummer. I don't know how often they do it but they were giving away free chocolate milkshakes when we went so we of course partook and they were exceptional.. real hand mixed shakes. Great beverage options. Go, don't wear nice clothes, don't try to take out and eat while you drive. Went here tonight (05/27/17) for the first time ever to a Wayback Burger. My wife and her parents. I had the bacon double, my wife and her mom both had the Carolina burger and her dad had the Cod sandwich. Everyone was very pleased with the food and service. The made everything fresh to order and we had our meals in no time. Maybe 10 minutes at most. The flavor of my bacon double was outstanding. Best burger I've had in years. I also had the homemade chips. They too were very good. My father-in-law said the fries were great as well as his Cod sandwich. Everyone was happy and full when we finished. I definitely recommend trying them out when in the Wilson area and looking for a great burger. We will go back again for sure. read more
