I just had the most unhealthy meal I can think of. And I loved it! Tomorrow I'll get a salad, but today I indulged at Cook Out. I got a combo, which they refer to as a "tray". I had a double burger that seriously tasted like it came off a backyard charcoal grill. The "tray" comes with two sides & the list of sides is fun to look at. I got a side of super tasty onion rings...the batter really stood out. My other side was a corn dog which tasted like it was wrapped in a sweet pancake. And the "tray" also comes with a drink, so I got a coke float. All this for $8. And the woman working the walk up window was very pleasant & helpful. I wish Cook Out had a franchise where I live near Tampa. read more

My husband & I ordered cookout trays one night for dinner. His box had a hole in the bottom of it. The fries & onion rings were barely cooked, they were so soggy. The chicken nuggets were like rubber. It's unacceptable how bad the food was. He even said the girl at the counter wouldn't even speak when he was placing his order. Terrible food & customer service. I usually use the drive thru but yesterday (7/2/25) I got off my car to order at the window there was a girl taking my order she had a nasty attitude she didn't even greet me #poorcustomerservice it looked like she didn't even wanted to be there since she kept talking to her friends but taking my order I just removed myself and went somewhere else where hopefully she gets the right training she needs because it was very unprofessional. read more

I love Cook Out. They have one of the best deals for a hamburger, fries, and drink around. You can get the entire combo for about $5.50 including tax. We started coming here over 10 years ago and it was great. A new Cookout with a nice dining room. We came here all the time. With family, friends, church groups. Then "covid happened." They closed their dining room...and it never re-opened. I hardly come here anymore, and when o do I ask the cashier if they're ever going to reopen the dining room. They know nothing. I've been to a couple of cook outs but none of them compare it this one. This is our new place to stop while traveling up and down 95. It is almost 4 miles off the highway but it's worth it. They offer an eat in area as well. They are quick at the drive thru as well, even if they are busy. Service is friendly. Food is tasty, fresh and delicious! read more

Every time I'm in town I always stop at Cook Out for their honey mustard wrap. It's always cooked fresh. The chicken has a nice crunch to it. The tender is just the right size for the wrap. I love it. I also love their onion rings. They are also come hot off the grill. You can never go wrong at Cook Out. I would definitely recommend them. read more

I've eaten at many franchises of this chain, and this was the only negative experience I've had. Portions on the sides were tiny...four onion rings and five cheese curds; unfortunately, my wife and I ordered one tray and one sandwich....expecting the sides to be enough for both of us. Additionally, our drink cup had soda spilled all over the outside of the cup. While we love this chain as fast food goes, this stop was a disappointment. read more

This cookout is always busy. The service isn't bad, it isn't great. But if you're expecting a quick drive thru service don't even consider it. On a peak Friday or Saturday night, 10:00PM-2:00AM expect a minimum of a 20 minute wait. And believe me, Cook Out is good but after sitting in line for 15 minutes without much movement, I have to wonder if the money I spent was worth the time I spent. Usually, that's a fat no. But the quality of the food itself isn't bad. It's just a matter of whether you'd agree to spend $20 on an escape room when you know the prize is a cheesy photograph vs going to Applebee's. This particular cookout is tricky because you know by the end of you getting your food it's like Moses leading his people through the desert and finally getting water - but we have to consider whether that water was the most amazing water that's ever faced this planet or if the isrealites were so desperate for thirst that they would've waited another thousand years. Decent food. Well worth a 10 minute wait. 20 minute wait, which is often typical? Prepare to gauge how dedicated you are to post drunk food. It'll make you learn things about yourself. read more

This reminds me of a Checkers or Rallys of the south. Overall the food was good but not great. I would visit again to check out more items. The BBQ sandwich was good with the slaw. They added Texas Pete hot sauce in the slaw. The bacon cheese and the regular hot dog were both ok. The strawberry milkshake was good. It does taste like a regular vanilla shake with Nestle Strawberry Quik sauce added. The fries were average and the sweet tea was average. The drive thru line was long. I do like the burger because it had a grilled smokey taste to it. The 7 items we ordered was $17.14. The price is good and the food was quick. The staff was friendly. Manager need to pay more attention to the worker. I stood in line for a good 10 minutes trying to order and one of the employees not ordering just standing there talking about how the two guys were brothers and when I get to the window to order they tell me the guy will come and take my order. This cookout restaurant is probably my favorite. It has a sit in restaurant so that is a bonus. The food is always fresh and hot. I love their fountain drinks. The restaurant is clean and it's well taken care of. They are consistent and I enjoy eating here. You can't beat the price of their trays. Their double burgers are delicious. Great grilled burgers for a fantastic price! I got the huge (1/2 lbs) burger for $2.79 (plus 10 cents for tomato). I instantly knew this isn't a McDonalds, 5 Guys, Sonic or Wendy's burger, since those burger patties are fried. Cook Out offers two thick patties grilled (Huge burger), as the name implies, on a flame grill. The Cook Out in Wilson, NC has a small interior and is very noisy. To Cook Out's credit, they have two or three registers going at once, so the ordering process is quick and the turn around is equally fast. This Cook Out has a sit-down area (not all do), but it was small and hard to get an available seat. Parking spaces are hard to get too. Once the parking fills up, most people park in the Ruby Tuesday's next door. I wonder how long Ruby Tuesday's will allow this before tow trucks are called? This Cook Out beats the fast-food chains by price and taste. I wish there was one in my area! read more

We were driving from ECU to Raleigh after a Thursday night football game and saw a billboard alongside the highway to Cook Out. Being 11pm everything else, except McDonald's was closed within what felt like 50 miles, and we refuse to eat there. With all Cook Out locations open late, we decided to break off the highway and get a bite. It did say it was roughly five miles off the highway, but felt like longer, even though it wasn't. Meanwhile, we weren't the only one who wanted a late night bite. There were several cars in the drive through yet it moved quickly. And, most impressive, they got our order correct, the food was hot and tasted much better than most fast food spots. Cook Out is a staple in many parts of Virginia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia now and I don't expect it to slow anytime soon. Where else can you get food that tastes better than McDonald's (by a lot) for cheaper? Come for a inexpensive meal and leave never to return to a McDonald's, guaranteed. read more

I normally wouldn't do a review for a fast food place, but on a recent trip to NC my son swore that Cook Out was the best fast food joint going. Had never been there, so he talked us into it. He may be right. They have a great menu, with burgers, chicken, pulled pork and hot dogs, and tons of different sides. Seemed like a lot of value for what we paid, and the shakes are amazing. They had 30 or 40 flavors. Definitely on my short list for a quick stop in the future. read more

I am staying in a hotel right behind the 2925 Raleigh Rd Parkway Wilson, NC location and have never been to a CookOut so decided to give it a shot since I had work to do and didn't want to really go out. I drove over and went through the drive through. First thing, I was hurriedly greeted even before my window was at the ordering menu. Then, because I didn't respond (not knowing what was said), I was again hurriedly greeted. I started giving my order and before i could fully finish, the cashier was talking over me giving me back my order, which was wrong. I started over and again before I could even finish how I wanted my first burger prepared she was talking over me again. AGAIN I had to say that she was incorrect. She then stated that she could barely hear me. My truck is a diesel but has no modifications to it at all. The problem is that the speaker and obviously the mic are low to the ground where most of your vehicles noise would emanate from. So I turned off my truck and said "let's start over", but she then starts blurting out my order getting it all wrong, and being very impatient with getting it right. I had to repeat my order twice more, being talked over constantly. I paid for my order and left with no personality from the cashier at all. She did tell me to have a good night but that was it. When I got back to my room, what do you know but the order was wrong. The Burgers were haphazardly thrown together and one was missing a condiment (most likely because she wouldn't take the time to listen) and I was missing an order of onion rings. I was not charged for them, but had she taken the time to listen rather than hurriedly trying to just get me done and out of the way, maybe I would have gotten what I TRIED to order several times . The taste of the burger itself was ok, but nothing outstanding and again haphazardly thrown together. I probably will not ever patronize a CookOut again and definitely will not recommend it to anybody. read more
