Chicken ranch nachos
Matthew C.

I got the chicken ranch nachos for lunch and they were so good. The waitress was on point with all our drinks and food came out hot with no problems. The place was very clean as well.

Broccoli, chicken tenders, baby back ribs, jalapenos sausage with cheese.

For date night we went to Chill's! We ordered the trio saucea chip dip. My wife honey chrispers and was craving meat! I end up getting the small ribs, jalapeno cheese sausage, and steamed Broccoli. Gezz I couldn't not finish it all. But it sure did taste great. Our waitress was very nice and gave us some helpful options. We we're very happy and I was meat drunk. LOL! Thanks for a great time. The hostess was very professional and dressed nicely.

Food is always great, service can be slow but seems to be short staffed a lot which I understand they can't help. The servers make up for that with their kindness and great attitudes. I love coming here just to chat with friends and catch up.

Of all the chain restaurants, Chili's is one of the few that when one visits, one feels at home. And it is written that "Home is where the heart is." I've had an opportunity of having eaten at the Chili's in Boston, Massachusetts and of Miami, Florida, and both haven't disappointed me. On the contrary, I've given them my business by taking my college students to eat there (everyone paying for their meal) on the last day of class. So it was a pleasant surprise when I found out that Chili's would be opening in Roanoke, Virginia! Today, I decided to go try it out and see if it lived up to it's great reputation of the past and if the reputation of the ones located in two big cities can compare to the one in the Star City of the South. As we arrived at the restaurant, which is located in the surroundings of Tanglewood Mall, the building looked modern, very clean, and well designed, with large sparkling clean windows all around. It had its main entrance up front and a side entrance for To Go orders on the side of the building, with plenty of parking all around. As soon as we entered the building, the wonderful modern, yet cozy interior design of the restaurant, made you feel relaxed and comfortable. The host welcomed us with a big smile and sat us in a nicely located booth where we looked at the menus. They were nicely designed with pictures of some of the main items in the menu. It didn't take long for our waitress to show up to greet us and take our order with a big, friendly, and genuine smile. I ordered the Bacon Rancher: two juicy beef patties, six slices of cripy bacon, house-made ranch, American cheese, sautéed onions, and pickles. My friend ordered another of the same. As we waited, I downloaded the Chili's Reward app and signed up, after seeing an invitation on an electronic TV screen on the table that was also how the bill would be shown and paid at the end of our meal. A young man, who was also very friendly, brought our food to the table in a very reasonable time. And the burger looked as well as tasted delicious. The buns were soft and fresh, the paties were well cooked and juicy, the bacon were crunchy, and with lots of flavor, and even the slices of pickles were fresh and crunchy! Our waitress came by at the appropriate times filling our water glasses with ice water that, by the way, tasted like nice filtered water. This can't be said of many fine restaurants in town. For dessert, we ordered two small size Molten Chocolate Cakes. These have always been my favorite at Chili's. The young man brought us the desserts with sparkling colors highlighting the freshness of the desserts. It also was fresh and delicious. Just look at the pictures I took and one picture is worth a thousand words. The Chili's in Roanoke not only did not disappoint me, but rather greatly impressed me. One can say that the Star City now has the luxury of having a Star Chili's as one of its restaurants. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone in the Roanoke community and in nearby cities and towns. And will definitely be coming back for more!

Old timer .

Service was terrible ...We order an appetizer that they never brought us. After waiting 30 plus minutes for our food they didn't give us the salad or soup. Bartender said they were having issues in kitchen. We notice others getting their food and appetizers. She said she would comp us for the inconvenience but she actually raised our prices instead on the check . Then when we pointed it out she was little snippy. Disappointed to say the least .

Food is awful. Wendy's and five guys have a much better burger. Takes forever to get your bill and then we were overcharged. The waitress said wait I'll be back and she never showed back up we had to get up to go find a manager. While we were sitting there the bill kept getting higher with drinks added.

So it's been open for about a month now, but there it is still quite a crowd. The food was good and properly prepared. There is plenty of staff and they were attentive. We got pretty much what we expected for this brand. It's much better than Applebees or TGIF. You get a consistent experience and we're glad they finally came to Roanoke!

After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I also was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to return to those special ones, that have made a difference in my life and highlight them, for the benefit of the public, so they too can have an opportunity to appreciate the qualities of a one-of-a-kind fine dining experience. And Bernard's Gastropub & Eatery in Downtown Roanoke, is a perfect example. Bernard's was born out of the love of two culinary aficionados turned professionals that in someway have managed to create a restaurant with an environment that transmits this intimate love to the hearts of their customers through the attention to detail in its extraordinary customer service and amazing culinary masterpieces. Today, I felt like dining at this restaurant, which I admire for its consistency in always far exceeding my high expectations of what a fine-dining restaurant should be all about. Not knowing if they would have a table for me at this late time on a Saturday early evening, I drove in my pearl white Lexus to the nearest private parking lot and gave them a call to inquire as if they could give me a reservation for the next ten minutes. A gentleman, who later I found out was named Matthew, and would be my server, answered the phone with a very polite and welcoming voice; answering my question of what was the special dish of the day and to come on down, that my reservation was assured. As soon as I arrived to the small, very elegant foyer in front of the Host's station, he came out to greet me and instantly recognized who I was. My only request was that he give me a low table because at my age seating at a high table was a bit uncomfortable. He went back to see what he could find and ended setting me up with what I consider one of the best tables of the house, and I was so appreciative of his last minute accommodation. The menu was already setup on my table. He poured water from a special bottle into my water glass and asked if I wanted something else to drink. I asked for a Mocktail and since he also was a bartender, he prepared me one of the best mocktails I've ever had. To dine, I started out with their Mussels Carbonara appetizer, which came in a bacon parmesan cream sauce that was simply amazing, and served with toast points. As my main entrée I had the Dinner Special of the Night, the Seafood Trio. It had a delicious, giant size crab cake in the middle, scallops, and shrimps, with parmesan risotto sautéed heirloom tomato, spinach, and nice size asparagus, with a burre blanc sauce. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the high-quality of their food and magnificent ambiance of the place. Everything was so delicious that only one word could ever describe them: priceless! For dessert I had their very famous Butterscotch Banana Pudding, which the chef makes at the moment ordered. It looked spectacular and tasted amazingly delicious: a culinary work of art. What a great way for the Gran Finale of an extraordinary dining experience!

Going back to this restaurant after the great honor that I had received from Yelp, made me recall the first time that I dined here. I invite you that after reading this review, you go back and read that one, and view my photographs accompanying it, because it's one of which I am most proud of, and an experience that I will never forget and forever cherish. I arrived at the restaurant on time at five o'clock sharp and as I waited for them to open I had an opportunity to meet and chat with a couple who had been loyal customers of this restaurant for years since it first opened. They, as well as I, were aware of the beautiful location of the restaurant on one of the most exclusive neighborhoods of Roanoke. As soon as the doors opened, I allowed them to enter first and then when the host came back she gave me a warm and friendly greeting, welcoming me back, and took me to an ideal table, where I had a perfect view of the entire restaurant, from their open kitchen, to their bar, to the entire dining room and entrance, allowing me to capture in photographs the real feel of the ambiance of this cozy, yet elegant, upscale Southern, New-American restaurant known for its scratch-made dishes using locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients, including house-cured meats and pickled vegetables, as well as very creative cocktails. Shortly after I was seated, my delightful server Caroline arrived, and after a warm greeting took my order. To drink I order their Strawberry Fields Forever Mocktail. As appetizer I ordered a half dozen Oysters together with their famous Oyster Wraps. And as my main entrée, the Painted Hills Filet, cooked medium-rare. All the staff seemed so happy to see me and the manager came by to say hello and congratulate me for my outstanding Yelp accomplishment of 2025. My excellent server made sure that my order was well-paced, came by at the appropriate times to fill my glass with water and see if all was to my liking. Everything tasted amazingly delicious. Starting from the unique taste of my creative mocktail, to my flavorful appetizer, to my exquisite Filet main entrée that was so tender and cooked just right. The chefs in this fine dining restaurant are amazing and the quality of their meats is top notch. For dessert I had one of my favorite desserts, since I first had it there, their Dark Chocolate Panna Cotta. This dessert is absolutely mouthwatering. What an extraordinary dining experience I once again had there. Fine dining at its best. For those very special occasions, I highly recommend this restaurant. When I arrived the place was full. People enjoying quality time with significant others, in a comfortable environment, drinking and eating to their hearts desire. I stood there, waiting to be seated, and somehow I didn't mind the wait. Who would be my server, Chelsea came and greeted me with a smile, letting me know that soon she would have a table for me. And this was not a fake promise like they tell you at other places to keep your hopes up. As soon as some customers left a table near by she went to clean it and set.it up for me. Last time I came here, I came with.a friend, this time I came along. And you know what, it didn't mind to her the size of the party, she treated everyone the same. With the same respect and caring attitude. And you know what. This is really what makes tje big difference in coming to eat here. In no time at all she had me seated at a 4 person booth looking over the menu and enjoying a Strawberry Saffron Tonic Mocktail which was the first thing I ordered. You know what, it doesn't matter what drink you have to enjoy yourself and have a good time, it's just a matter of attitude. Right then and there, you can sayI hadva great attitude of life. This is the kind of feeling this place brings out in their customers. More than customers, they see us as their guests. Even though I was looking at the menu, I already knew what I was going to have. A sandwich that ever since I moved to Roanoke, has become my favorite of them all in this Star City: The Ricky Ricardo of the Village Grill. Having been born in Cuba and grown up in Miami and Puerto Rico, I have learned to appreciate a good Cuban Sandwich. And this is not only one that comes close to it, but has perfected it with their golden touch and creativity, and yet maintaining it true identity. There is nothing greater one can say from an item from the menu. The fries that accompanied it were also amazing. My server Chelsea provided great service, coming by at the appropriate times to check on me. For dessert, I had the Cheesecake Du Jour that happened to be Peanut Butter, my favorite. What a Wonderful dining experience I had here. Needless to say, I highly recommend this place for its great ambiance, magnificent food, and excellent service. I can't say enough good things about it.
