Got into town late last night and needed a small something- orders three grilled cheese kids meal and a macaroni and cheese kids meal. Ordered online and went to restaurant and went inside to the Togo area. I stood there for about 10 minutes before anyone came out. When I was helped she told me my order would be right up. I saw her go back and bag up my order. The grilled cheese were all cold - I think they were made and sat for quite some time before being given to us. The Mac n cheese was Luke warm as was the broccoli. They were good but not warm at all. And the restaurant was not busy at all. Our waitress was really ready rude!! My strawberry lemonade was watered down, the food on the smokehouse combo was nasty, got a second plate of food which was a burger and it was burnt to all hell and was the wrong burger. Man I love me some Chilis but I'm disappointed. I stopped at this location driving in from out of town, ordered my food 15 minutes before arrival, get there just to have the food cold. No issue stuff happens so they just remade another one even when I offered to just heat it up. Sat at the bar for 15 minutes and sure enough this "new one" was still cold. I stopped by on 601 Mt Airy NC to eat at chilis I was starving...The waitress was very good very professional she gave great service,which made up for the food...I got a combo tray ewww the chicken was tuff as a belt...the garlic toast was not bakes or toasted just ran though something the waitress told me just loaded butter and garlic that's it real soggy....The corn one side was buttered the other had this red pepper stuff on it...ok so the cheese cake came put on a warm plate which made it warm. THIS WAS absolutely the worst meal ever I know you are short with help but you are going to be short with customers if ppl pay your prices they want good food. read more

I've been eating at this restaurant for about a year. My fiancé and I used to love this restaurant up until about 3 months ago. Every time we try to eat there now we have had to send so many things back to the kitchen. My fiancé's pasta always comes out cold and once the chicken was raw on the inside. I on the other hand sometimes order a burger medium, but I have not had a burger come out right at all. Usually Chili's is my go-to when I come in town to visit family because there are so many choices and it has a large dining area. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in tonight to see the restaurant wasn't busy at all. The hostess didn't greet us when we walked in and only when I approached her she took us to a table and didn't say a word. We waited about 7 minutes before anyone approached us to get drinks, but thankfully our waitress was a gem of a human and super sweet (she's the reason I'm giving two stars). She took our orders, kept our drinks full, and even offered a free appetizer because of our wait. When the food came out it was very bland and overall just not super appealing. Long time reviewer that takes his reporting guidelines very seriously. As such, before I give a negative review, I carefully weigh my experience versus perceived expectations and ensure I'm giving a fair and balanced position on value received, giving the establishment every opportunity to redeem themselves. That said: I'd give zero stars, if possible. Ostensibly Mount Airy's singularly worse dining establishment, by FAR. First, we went in on a Monday night, at 7:00 pm and the place was a ghost town, easily 90% unoccupied. So why did we wait 15 minutes for a table? Because it's Chili's, I guess. After being seated, it took another 15 minutes to be waited on. Again, must be a Mt Airy's Chili's thing. But I digress, let's get to the order. We knew we were in trouble when the manager came out and told us the soup my wife ordered was "Bad". Yep, you read that correctly, he warned us off his own soup as being unfit. Perhaps saved us from a salmonella event, given how bad the food was when it did come out, he may have potentially saved our lives. My wife's entrees were Chili's 101, nothing special, not bad at all. My salad, however, was a masterpiece in culinary disaster. The "Santa Fe Chicken Crisper" exceeded even the lowest expectation I could have imagined...horrible to the core. First, the dressing, a smarmy Mayo-Caesar concoction which, if applied correctly, may have been palatable if all ingredients were fresh. Sadly, not only were they NOT fresh, the lubricity of the dressing was universal...there was MORE dressing than salad! Added to that maelstrom was the fact that the chicken was 150% covered in cayenne pepper for a scoville rating equivalent to somewhere between a habenero and a ghost pepper. Now realize, I adore fiery food and have made my reputation on ghost and Carolina Reaper peppers. But this was supposed to be a simple chicken adder to a simple salad. Someone in the kitchen was either trying to run off customers or was so naive they had never added a touch of heat and simply engulfed this chicken with cayenne. 100% inedible. To finalize the assault on our collective palettes, upon seeing my utterly untouched salad, did our waitress inquire, even a nugget of why I didn't touch my salad? Of course NOT. Not a peep, not even a vague inquiry as to why it remained untouched. I have dined around the world and many can read my reviews on establishments that tickle our palette and raise our collective consciousness on fine dining. This Chili's, in Mt Airy, North Carolina heightened those senses and deserves my highest award of: WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE EVER. Came here on a Monday night around 9:30. I was only one at the bar and the bartender just stood at the register and scrolled through twitter. Had to call her for attention. The bar was really sticky with what seemed to be spilled drinks from the night before. There was also a distinct sent of dirty mop water and crown royal. Ordered a pasta dish, think it was a cajun pasta, it was pretty good. However it took a while to get my food because the bartender was busy retweeting. While I was enjoying my meal I noticed another customer had sent a beverage back to the back because it was made wrong. The server then proceeded to complain about how the customer doesn't know what the drink should taste like and made multiple jokes about him. I would have rated 1 star but the pasta was good. Chain restaurants. We all secretly love them. We claim to dislike them but there are rarely better deals in a certain area then what some corporate bigwig sets up for us. The only issue I have with this location was that they didn't carry the local beer that's made down the street. That was quickly dissolved when the food came out. A little back story. A few nights before tonight I was in Greensboro nc ( my hometown ) I ate a one of two famous burger joints that ranked very well in the national selection according to Famous well known publications that do that sort of thing. I had at that local spot ( Big burger spot ) a chili cheese burger. Carolina style. It was ok. I enjoyed it. Then I for whatever reason ordered the chili's chili burger tonight. Because chili on a burger needs to happen more than twice a week right ? Chili's hit it out of the park. The burger was perfectly greasy and seasoned. I am still stunned. Albeit very happy. I'm not usually pro chain restaurant or anti chain. I just want decent food and I want what I get to live up to what's advertised. This time is came from an unexpected place. Fantastic service is something I've come to know of chain restaurants due to the corporate overlord that rules them but tonight it was stellar service with even better food than I could have wanted , dreamed or demanded from a chain. To make a long story short, placed a to go order on the phone at 4:15, after calling the manager I finally got my food at 5:30, took food home to find all of the food was cold with missing sauces and sides. To top it all off, I was charged $15 more than i should have. Luckily, the manager gave us a refund with some $5 gift cards but will I go back? No thank you! read more

I would like to know what's happening at this chili's. Over the past several months, whenever we go here it takes at least 2 hours. It doesn't matter if there is 2 of us or 10 of us, we can't get out in under 2 hours. The past few times there have been multiple issues with our food as well. I love chili's, but this one is awful. Don't get me wrong this is a good place to eat. However, if you have guest showing up to your restaurant wanting to spend their money there, especially if they were intending on a large amount of money that would lead the server to gain a good tip, your workers shouldn't be standing around and ignoring those guest who have been waiting to be seated. Worst experience at this Chili's ever tonight. My husband and I ordered our meal along with our daughter with an appetizer. We waited a good 30+minutes for our food. I wasn't so upset with that since it was Friday night and the restaurant was packed. Our food arrived to the table and we had never received our appetizer. I'm guessing a manager or someone higher up brought our food and she apologized and got our appetizer and promised to adjust our bill. Ok no problem. I ordered a steak and I asked for it to be very very well done and it was still red inside not pink but red. The waitress who we hadn't seen since she took our order came over and asked how our food looked and I told her about my food and she saw the steak and said well I told them to cook it well done and rolled her eyes and acted like she expected me to eat it. I said I can't eat this it's no where near done she took my plate back and had an attitude about it. Not even 5 minutes later a gentleman brought my steak back and by this point I was over it. So when we got done the waitress brought our check and guess what, no adjustments had been made that the manager or supervisor had promised and she sure wasn't going to offer any help. So my husband paid her just so we could hurry up and leave because we were both so pissed at this point. The waitresses make each customer feel important. The food selection suits the tastes of the young and the not so young. Waitresses make every effort to keep the atmosphere upbeat and positive. It was so hard I dinged it on my plate and told the bartender how the hell can this be eaten. It was taken of my bill but my god this place is sketchy. Stay away from this place.
