Went in looking for brisket, ended up with a stuffed potato. Turns out Little Richard's does not offer brisket. The potato stuffed with smoked chicken was quite good. The macaroni & cheese was good, but the portion was small. The menu mainly consists of pork and chicken entrees. The staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Will probably go back.

I have elected to give Little Richard's 4 stars based their friendly staff. It looks like a typical Bbq joint and sits right by a Shell station. They have a huge menu. I decided on the pork bbq sandwich with bbq slaw. The pork was dry with very little seasoning and had too many fatty pieces. I had to load on the sauce, which they have several varieties. Their house sauce is served warm and I have never had it served that way so found that unique. My husband had the pork tray with cole slaw. He didn't love the BBQ either. I will say the Mac & cheese was legit- Creamy with delicious chewy topping pieces. The hush puppies were little crispy nuggets with good flavor. I would return and try a different smoked meat!

Where do I start? Unfortunately, this visit was a big step down from the great experience I had here last summer. The service was slow and not very good--maybe our server was just having a bad day, but it really affected the meal. When we sat down, we let our server know that the rest of our party wouldn't be joining us after all and that she could take our order whenever she had a chance. Her response: "I have other tables to wait on." Not sure why that needed to be said--it just felt unnecessary. We waited quite a while, and in the meantime, another table that arrived after us (with a different server) got their drinks and food before we even had our order taken. When our food finally came, I ordered the baby back ribs, but they were overcooked and dry--definitely not the quality I remember from before. My uncle ordered a chopped BBQ tray but got something completely different. When we were ready to leave, we couldn't find our server and actually had to ask someone else to track her down so we could pay. To top it off, I noticed an automatic service fee added to the bill, which was surprising considering the level of service we received. Honestly, it was really disappointing compared to my previous visit. Hopefully, this was just an off day, but it's hard not to walk away frustrated.

It's been a while since we ate here but stopped in today for a late lunch. There were only a few tables occupied so clearly the lunch rush was over. We were quickly seated and a waiter took our drink order. I thought maybe someone else would be our server as we waited for quite a while, which has always been something that doesn't happen here. Finally the waiter returned and took our order. After what seemed to be a longer than usual wait time I noticed a waitress at the pickup area looking at an order that I had seen sitting there for a while. She looked around for our waiter and was unable to get his attention so she was considerate to bring it to our table. Of course the fries were room temperature and the food barely warm. Since I just ordered a barbecue sandwich it wasn't a big deal but I did send the fries back. In a few minutes our waiter returned with fresh hot fries. When he brought our check I noticed a 3% Operational Fee added to the bill. This must be something new since we were there last. All in all this was not a very pleasant experience. Unfortunate.

I stopped in here passing through town while on vacation. The menu had plenty to choose from and the prices are reasonable. I had a hard time picking so I tried a sampler of three of their smoked meats, I chose pulled pork, beef brisket and baby back ribs. The dinner came with two sides and hush puppies, there were numerous choices for sides. The sides were typical southern fare including fried okra and collard greens plus many other choices, the hush puppies were made in house and were probably some of, if not the best I've ever eaten!! Everything was delicious and the servings were generous. We had a fantastic server who took great care of us. The dining area was very clean and neat and had some cool old antiques hanging on the walls. If you are in Mt. Airy NC. and want some great BBQ this is the place!!!

This tiny tray was $14 after tax. I was quite disappointed with this to-go order. I can 2 to 3 times this amount of food for $10 elsewhere. The total was almost $35 dollars for two of these tiny trays and some hush puppies. They also now add a 3% surcharge to all orders due to the current state of the economy. I do understand the issue, but with the incredibly small size of meals makes it truly not worth it. Food was just OK nothing special. I truly hate to leave a negative review but I would NEVER spend my money here again. Very disappointed with my "meal".

Ordered Brisket. It was really good. Sides, not so much. Potato salad was too saucy and didn't have much flavor. Cole slaw was totally bland. When the meal said it came with hush puppies, I was thinking a couple medium sized ones like at long John silvers. No these are about 1/2 the size and they give you about 20 hush puppies. Too much. One odd thing about our bill, there was a 3% service charge on it. Haven't seen this before. I felt like restaurant was trying to nickel and dime customers.

It was very cold where we were sitting and the server allowed us to move to a warmer spot. We ordered a fried mushroom appetizer. This was very good. They came with ranch and I think it was the horseradish sauce. The orangish sauce was very good. I ordered 1/2 rack of dry ribs with mac & cheese and green beans, and 2 hushpuppies. You get a choice of Texas toast, hushpuppies, or rolls. My coworker ordered salmon. When the food came out, my ribs were wet. I told the server that I had ordered dry rub. He stated they were dry but had sauce on them. I'm sorry, that is not a "dry rib", in my opinion. The first piece of rib meat I ate was soft and juicy. The next two were super dry and I could not eat any more of them. My coworker joked that that was probably what they were referring to when they said "dry rub". The green beans were ok. I added a ton of pepper and some hot sauce. I saved the mac & cheese for lunch the next day. The hushpuppies were dense and needed a little more flavor. My coworker commented that her salmon was ok but nothing to write home about. I should have went with my first instinct and ordered from the kids menu. The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is nice.

Not many dining choices in this area. Ample parking and a large dining area with tables efficiently serviced so that they turn over quickly. Our wait for a table was only 10-minutes, following a group of 18! The service was the star of the experience. Very efficient, helpful, attentive servers. Shout out to Suzanna. The large staff worked well together and seemed to make everyone feel comfortable. The ambience is southern, hometown casual. You feel like you are visiting your large family from start to finish. Nothing pretentious. Clean enough. Comfortable. Pricing....in this time of food inflation, this restaurant still offers amazing prices. My husband and I had two large dinner entrees with water and our bill came to just under $24.00. Our portions were generous as evidence in the photo. Our waitress recommended the grilled pork chops which were hot, juicy and seasoned just right. They came with two veggie sides from a long list of choices. I chose collard greens and Mac and cheese. These items were just average and only luke warm as was the biscuit (from a choice of about 5 bread options). Had the sides been hot and a little more flavorful, I would have given 5 stars. For vegetarians and all-day breakfast eaters, Cooper Pot is your place; so much to choose from on their menu. Vegans might struggle as most southern cooking includes dairy and it looks as if they cook their sides in large quantities and keep them in a warmer to serve. The ability to respond quickly to large numbers of travelers and locals, with solid, well-priced, filling meals is the gift of the Copper Pot. We will return when traveling their way.
