Chicken udon

Everything looks great tastes good, no complaints. Bottle of choya plum wine at a decent $21 and we got a private booth. Servers are pleasant and helpful. Accommodate for any changes to the dishes with no issues. Nice place amongst the competitors

Back at Chikurin Ave Z for sushi date with my mom. This place never disappoints and has plenty of delicious options for her who doesn't eat much raw fish. Everything is always fresh, sake is flowing and service is top notch.

This spot is well known and many people also order to go or delivery from here. They have a tremendous menu of items and they are very friendly in their service. I have eaten here many times before but this is my 1st review. During this pandemic and the cold temperatures and the snow, they managed to put up a tent with heaters and it was not bad at all. Yes, we still kept our coats in but our fingers were not cold and it turned out to be an enjoyable experience. We ordered quite a bit of food for the 4 of us and lots of sake bombs! We ordered calamari, the Lemongrass seafood soup, oyster shooters, pan seared gyoza, sea urchin, edimame, coconut shrimp, white tuna and other items. The one thing about them is the service with a smile. There were a few tables inside the tent, none of the tables were close to us at all.

I come here often as it's in the area. Got the oysters today. The size is great and doesn't taste too fishy. Love this spot for sushi!

Rolls (Shrimp Tempura, Alaskan, Spicy Tuna)

I have been coming to Chickurin for years, with friends or just by myself. They never disappoint. The sushi is always fresh, and the atmosphere is pleasant for a small group of friends. I recently came with a group, and we ordered a shrimp tempura roll, alaskan roll, and a spicy tuna roll with crunch on top. We shared everything.  All three were amazing and tasted fresh. We also ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box, which was totally worth the price for the amount of food in there. The fried ice cream is to die for. The prices are very fair here and it is a good time out either for lunch or dinner. I definitely recommend this place.

Volcano roll

Had a dinner at Chikurin and everything was great. We got the server Yuki and she was very attentive and made sure we have everything we needed. The food was fresh and met every expectation. Additionally, the overall atmosphere here is very pleasant and chill :)

I got a "special roll" for 9.95 $. Got 5 pieces spread out to make it seem bigger with a piece of plastic on it. Thank you.

Sake shots with Mr. Sake (Alex)
Sal M.

Allow me to introduce you to my dear friend Alex, better known as Mr. Sake. I've been coming here with my friends for years now and we never fail to have a great time. The food is very good and they have a wide selection (sheapshead bay roll and the rock shrimp are always my go-to). But you don't come here for just the food... You come for the Sake!! If you're lucky enough to go here when Alex is around and you order Sake- you're pretty much guaranteed to have a good time. He carries around a shot glass with him and will take a shot (sometimes more than 1) with each table. He will come around frequently to make conversation and to make sure that you are never without multiple full bottles of sake. He went out of his way this last time to make sure everything was great when we were celebrating my birthday and I really appreciated it. If you're looking for a spot to celebrate a birthday or just meet up with your friends. Be sure to check this place out!!

UFO salad
Melissa H.

I have been coming here for years and love them! The sushi is delicious and fresh with decent prices. The K-roll and UFO salad are my absolute favorites! The tables are spaced out nicely and they sometimes have outdoor seating.

My favorite sushi place, the fish is always fresh and the best quality you can ever find. Every dish presentation is beautiful and so well thought and this stuff is super friendly and accommodated.

Salmon, Tuna, Scallop shashimi Rolls: spicy scallop, dragon, Ak 47, American Dream, dancing eel, black widow, Queens, eel mango, California
Luyin C.

One of my favorite Japanese sushi restaurants. We usually travel about 30 minutes to this restaurant to eat but on rainy days we do take outs. Amazing environment to enjoy lunch and dinner. Excellent food and service. The servers are extremely attentive and kind. Jimmy is the best manager/ host, sense of humor and extremely caring. Everything is very fresh. They have a variety of options from raw food, sushi, udon, rice, hibachi, and so much more. We always order 15 salmon sashimi, 4 tuna sashimi, 4 scallop sashimi, Dragon roll, spicy scallop roll, Ak 47 roll, American Dream roll, dancing eel roll, black widow roll, Queens roll, eel mango roll, California Roll, and Kani salad for a party of 4 total around $127. Reasonable prices. I recommend this restaurant for everyone whether you like raw food or not, they always take customer's satisfaction into consideration.

Honestly, I'm surprised this restaurant has a four-star rating. While the service was excellent,…read morethe food was consistently disappointing. We started with a lychee martini that tasted overwhelmingly of vodka, with barely any lychee flavor. Of the appetizers--the seaweed salad, cucumber salad, and edamame dumplings--the cucumber salad was the best. The seaweed salad tasted like a standard prepackaged version, while the dumplings had an unusual, unpleasant flavor and tasted as though they had come straight from the freezer. For our main dishes, we ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box and udon with tempura. The udon was acceptable, but the tempura was excessively oily, lacking the light, crisp texture you would expect. Even the chicken teriyaki was underwhelming; it tasted more like a reheated, prepared meal than something freshly cooked. The sushi was another letdown, with an odd flavor and appearance. The dynamite roll was especially disappointing, with an unpleasant texture and very little flavor beyond a touch of heat. The staff deserves credit for their attentive, friendly service, but unfortunately, that couldn't make up for the quality of the meal. We left feeling genuinely disappointed.

Every single fish is very high quality I find many places like the skimp out on the less popular fish but not Sanyuu West. I think the omakase is also at a very good price for the quality and amount you get though I know it is more expensive than maybe the average omakase spot right now. I also find that other spots usually underdeliver. I wish I could save more detail but honestly I have nothing more to say other than the fact that Sanyuu Weat amazing. The restaurant itself is also more spacious than I expected. Besides the main bar there are two sitting areas near the window as well as seats lined up to the bathroom to make yourself comfortable two things that I think are a rare find now in many places. A lot of thought is put into this restaurant layout and I think you can tell. The service was also great I found myself never lacking in water or waiting too long for my next piece. In fact, I had started to apologize about drinking so much water because I felt like the hostess was constantly at my side refilling my cup and she just turned to me and said, "don't apologize. Drinking water is very important." So true!!!! I'm very picky abt my recommendations to friends, I'll review any place I go to and give my thoughts but a real recommendation? I only have around a dozen or so. And Sanyuu West is definitely now part of that dozen.

The space is usually quite busy, but still feels serene. The cocktails are very good, though they lean heavy to gin, vodka, and whiskey as it is japanese - you will miss out on tequila and mezcal at this spot. The Katsu is good, but I don't really like katsu, so i'm not going to try to sell that. The uni toro dish however is just out of this world and exactly what I want to eat every day! This stuff is a dream come true. The corn ribs are the best preparation of corn outside of very cheesy esquites that I've ever had, and the mazeman is some really god noodles. Other dishes are good, but I would say the Mazeman, uni toro, and corn ribs are the musts for me. It is a really small place with around 6-8 tables so it probably gets busy at times and there may be a wait. One of the best parts of their menu here is that you can order sushi by the piece. My mom doesn't always have the biggest appetite so for her to be able to order only a few pieces instead of an entire roll was a huge plus! I had to crispy tuna rice appetizer and the dragon roll. Do of course I use Yelp to find something that catches my eye close by where we need to be. I found umami Sushi. We usually can't go wrong with Japanese food or sushi. We had no problems finding the place. The description said it was a small restaurant and as we entered the dining area was very small. Our hotel room was probably bigger. That doesn't bother me especially if we get there, there tables for us to sit comfortably. I also trust my judgment when I find a place that seems to be popular by the locals. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. We were the only ones there, but for some reason we bring good vibes to the places we eat because not too long after we placed our order, people started coming in, to the point that the small dining room was packed. I love Omakase style Service and what we ordered was a sashimi/sushi platter for three and two special rolls. I thought I got to choose the rolls but even that was chefs choice. I was just a bit worried that they would give us the cheap rolls like spicy tuna or California roll. The platter came out and it was beautifully prepared with a piece of sashimi for each of us and the rolls the chefs chose, ended up being two of my favorite rolls. The types of fish they selected were also great quality fish. We were lucky to have placed our order before the crowd came in our we might have had to wait a while because how they prepared it would have taken some time. The service was just right. Because they got busy right away, the waitress was forced to attend to everyone and couldn't really socialize with us. In fact when we finished our platter we were debating what we wanted for dessert but the waitress didn't even ask us and instead she just brought us the bill, so we said to ourselves, "I guess we're not having dessert here." So we paid the bill and gave an opportunity for someone else to take our table.
