I'm not totally sure why the overall rating for this spot is so low? We had both good service & good food as well. We stopped in for a quick drink after walking back from the beach. Chico's is so conveniently located right outside of the number 2 beach entrance at Isla Verde beach. Quick service, friendly wait staff and good drinks. It's was late afternoon in a Sunday and things were pretty slow, but the quiet option to people watch and watch the comings and goings of the city was perfect. Our family stopped at Chido's while in Isla Verde. The food was good, the cocktails were good, and the ambiance felt local. As others have said, the music was relatively loud and the place was lively, but that felt like part of the open-air kiosk experience. Lots of happy hour options as well. The drinks were good and that is why they got a two. Otherwise it would have been a one. The service was terrible. a couple patrons left because no one ever went over to them. Our server was more interested in socializing with friends than taking care of the customers. i ordered the burrito and it was the worst burrito I have ever had. Be careful here. After our flight we were waiting for our room and went here with our suitcases for some food and margaritas. The food was ok and the drinks were strong. We paid our bill with their credit card machine. The waitress said they didn't provide paper receipts and that the tip wasn't included. We realized we had overpaid and asked the waitress for proof of what we paid for. After a while with her playing with the machine she showed us the receipt, which was $35 less than what we paid. She said the difference was tax but tax was clearly on the receipt, and tax isn't 25%. When we questioned her she said it wasn't her fault and that's the way it is. We left and I disputed the charge on my credit card and almost immediately got reimbursed for the extra charge. She saw our suitcases and tried to have us pay a "gringo tax". Hopefully the restaurant catches up with her. read more

If you are looking for something to eat late night this could be a okay spot but honestly it was mediocre. For starters I was in a group of 9 people and I ordered the Shrimp Tacos on corn tortillas. Despite the fact that my order came out wrong the waiter also didnt write anything down so that is a contributing factor. I received fried shrimp on flour tortillas and it was the last order to come out following 2 birria taco orders, a fajita plate, and some other stuff. In a pinch its an okay place 24 hrs but def nothing to rave about. read more

I don't know what these other reviews are talking about but my fiancé and I had an amazing experience here! FOOD 9/10, but prices aren't outrageous at all! Food was cooked to perfection, I'm pescatarian so I can be picky but it did not missss! Service people are so sweet and kind, food came out fast. Authentic ambiance for sure.. Margaritas are NOT weak, the frozen ones are fire and strong honeyyy. We came here twice in one day that's how pleased we were! It's not the nicest physical establishment, but if you were going to or from the beach or just looking for a casual place to stop in, it hits the spot. the staff was super friendly and the food was really really good. My husband and I went to this establishment to get appetizers and cocktails. We were immediately greeted by staff who were very friendly and attentive. Staff made some recommendations and we enjoyed every moment we spent at the establishment. Since it's open 24/7, we would stop by daily - either to start our day or end our evening. Fun place with drinks & Mexican food. We stopped here after walking to Walgreens. We ordered the super nachos & it was indeed huge as well as tasty. We brought a lot back to our room. I had the frozen sangria, and it was awful. It tasted like Manischewitz. So, whatever you do, avoid it. My buddy ordered a margarita on the rocks, and it was great. It's loud & boisterous. Don't expect gourmet & you won't be disappointed. read more

Dear Chidos your staff was extremely warm and helpful BUT this manager?! The worst person you could have running your business. For starters he gets my order wrong and when i politely told him about the mistake instead of apologizing he began to argue with me.. Even when i asked him to let it go he continued to tell me I made the mistake I said let it go! Staff had to come over and apologize for him. Sad read more

My brother's family recommended this restaurant because they had a good shrimp quesadilla. They noted their vegetarian burrito was a significant disappointment. Most of us planned to order shrimp quesadillas. However, they were out of shrimp. So chicken quesadillas it was. They served 1, then we waited for over 5 minutes before they served the next 2 dishes...and again for 1 more, and then a 5th order was eventually received. But we had ordered 6 meals. I think the waiter forgot to put in my order, because it was another TWENTY minutes before my meal was served. It was good, but definitely not for waiting that long. The waiter refused to comp my meal, saying they had only one cook. But that doesn't explain why several others received their food before me. I should also note the music was VERY loud, even for San Juan, and the bathroom situation was TERRIBLE. There were two toilets, one was plugged, and the floor of the other stall was covered in pee and the door would not lock. The menus were provided via QR code but I had to hunt to find one that wasn't worn off. Should've taken that as a warning sign! Also, the pina coladas were weak and had no flavor and the same was true of the strawberry daqueri. Very strongly recommend avoiding this place. read more

Stopped by Chido's on a whim late night while in San Juan a few months back. Very cool spot to come to at random if you want some drinks or some quick eats, however I did not partake in any food while here, just the drinks. I had gotten a frozen margarita and if I remember correctly possibly a pina colada. All in which were really good and had a nice strong kick to it. Definitely a cool spot to come to if you wanna pre game before a night out, after partying for the night or just at random walking within the area. read more

Wow, the nachos amazing. Be sure to ask for the small portion that can feed two. The staff, super cool. My bartender Valeria real sweet and very helpful. Azteca, the super Chef, from another planet. This guy really cooks with love. He came out of his kitchen to visit with me and make sure I enjoyed my meal. Any beer, 2 for $5.00 and the place opens 24 hours. Love it. Came here two weeks ago. Paid $12 for two margaritas. Not happy hour. Went today and paid $70 for four bottom shelf margaritas that came out of a plastic gallon container. I'm a local. My parents and grandparents are from here. Was raised in NY. A friend told me I was clearly charged that amount because I spoke English to the bartender. When I questioned her about the price , she mentioned that the whole metro charges that way. I'm a bartender in the metro area. I know what is charged. Quickly changed story to the menu recently changed. Very shameful price gouging. Will not return read more

Came to this place late night with my husband, we saw that the place is open 24/7 so even better! Service was great the bartenders were very friendly and the pastor tacos I had were good too (I was starving so I didn't get a picture). Of course we had to have some medallas while in PR and it was just perfect! I love the concept this bar is perfect because it was walking distance from our hotel and the beach! read more

Childo's  the staff is very young, speed is definitely not this places forte. Food and drinks take a very long time.  No one person is behind the bar, which causes confusion when the crowds arrive.  The food was okay, but even bringing out the orders seemed like a task. It would never come with utensils, we always had to ask for them.  Then you would end up waiting 5 minutes for utensils. I do realize that the staff is disorganized because of leadership. No one person seems to have a specific role.  As this is one of the only bars currently open in our area because of Covid-19 restrictions. I did visit here at least 4 times during my stay. It is inexpensive so great place to hang with friends. read more

I am so happy my husband and I found this place. They serve food and alcohol 24/7, they have the most amazing staff, and the drinks are STRONG and inexpensive. A nice change from visiting over-priced bars in the area. My husband and I split a meat quesadilla and it was absolutely delicious. When I come back to visit, this will be on my places to stop for sure. read more

I wish I didn't have to write this review:( We came to this place because it was conveniently located right across the street from our Airbnb but unfortunately we were not really impressed. I remember coming here years ago and enjoying it, but this time it was the opposite. Our service was really great. Rony took care of us and he was super sweet and hospitable. But sadly our food was not the best. My friends got the loaded nachos and they were distasteful. The only thing that I would probably recommend from the menu is the fish tacos. They were excellent!!! The fish was nice and crispy and it comes in a softshell. I also got the margarita special which was a 2 for 10$ special. I must say I was disappointed. I got the frozen mango margarita for my first round. It was way too sweet and watered down. So I went with just a margarita on the rocks for my second round. But that was too sweet and watered down as well. I couldn't taste the alcohol at all. The place is nicely renovated and has that outdoorsy vibe. But I would probably not come back to dine here again unless of course, I was just getting some fish tacos to-go. read more

SAFETY WARNING: I went to this place a few times after moving full time to PR early feb '24. On vday between 1:30 and 2:30 am I was assaulted (drink thrown in my face and spat on) individual tried to steal my taser when I was going to use it for self defense, slandered, and when i demanded staff call the police, twice, the offenders (kids from NYC) recorded me without consent (felony charge in PR) I made a police report and the restaurant still did not turn the footage over to me after emailing and writing a written statement. My lawyers will be contacting them but i cannot emphasize enough DO NOT GO HERE. Your safety will be at risk and this was only feb 14. It will get more dangerous as spring break comes. read more

This reteraunt needs help, we ordered our food sizzling plates which they did not have the handles for our hot plates so we could not touch them. The bowls were cracked, the food tasted like the grill had not been cleaned for a year. The customer service was lacking and they acted like we bothered them when we asked for plates and silverware. Yes that is correct they brought the food and never gave us plates or silverware. We ended up walking out no we paid our bill but left everything this was the worst do not waste your time. read more

This was some of the blandest food I remember ordering anywhere, and I lived in Indiana. Dry, unseasoned, and extremely basic preparation lacking typical ingredients. Served without any sauce, napkins, silverware. Barely a restaurant. They get a star for being friendly enough. read more
