While I will say the food was pretty good, I don't think they are fans of tourists. While walking by from the next door coffee place, I saw a man on the porch area sitting at a table so I decided to stop in to grab some food to take back to the hotel. One of the employees was further in, wiping down some of the bar stools, and she kept giving me side eye. So I asked if they were open and she said yes. I ended up ordering a shrimp burrito but there was some confusion so it wasn't made right away. The employee that makes the food ended up coming back out about 10 minutes later to ask what I wanted in it. Then they asked what kind of sauce I wanted on it and I said sour cream is fine. The counter employee made some kind of comment about me being American to the lady who was making the food. I also ended up having to ask for the Powerade I paid for (and even though there were multiple flavors, she just pulled the closest one and gave it to me) and the prices varied from the posted board. While the food was very good, my shrimp burrito with rice and beans was awesome, I don't know if I would come back just because it seems like they don't like tourists very much. read more

This is a local grab and go place. You can also seat and eat. The food took a while to get. Food was okay, but could have been better. The fish tacos were the best ones. The first night in Puerto Rico we ordered through door dash to this place. It was nice they were open so late but the sliders (burgers) were raw and mushy on the inside. My boyfriend is a picky eater and he exams everything. I got chicken kabobs and they were ok. You could tell the food was rushed because only like two pieces had that charred look and taste as if it was on a grill the other pieces were regular. The bbq sauce helped the taste but it wasn't what I was expecting. There should be an option to choose well done vs raw for the burgers online. read more

The people that were in there were about to leave and they looked satisfied so we decided to dine there. The food was ok, I just got different varieties of empanadas. My sister and daughter both got birria quesadillas. They enjoyed them. I will say that the prices were different than what was on the menu and he made mistake and gave my sister a shrimp empanada when she asked for a beef one. Mediocre tacos in plain flour tortillas for $5 a pop & the service was rough. For some reason there was this mayo sauce covering each of the tacos and the nachos I didn't order, along with non melted shredded cheese? Some of the food prices did differ from what's on the menu, but not grossly so. My wife and I got pork and chicken mofongo and flavored margaritas. The food was really good and the portions quite generous (way better deal than we had for lunch a couple blocks away). The staff was also quite friendly. On the downside, the place is a bit of a dive bar, and the music that was playing was not family-friendly. We'll have to try the empanadas and mojitos next time. read more

This is the place to go if you want quick but good food and drinks without paying exorbitant touristy prices. It's a little open-air hole-in-the-wall kind of place. There's an electronic jukebox and the music is loud which gives it a fun kind of club vibe but you could totally come here with a family as well. There are tables and a full bar inside, and tables outside as well. Also, there is a seating area facing the sidewalk which is great for watching the crowds. We were helped by a nice employee named Rory and he made our drinks too. The empanadas are prepared to order, unlike most places where they sit in the window under a heat lamp. The pastry is light and crispy and after eating one, I went back and immediately ordered another. You can choose the filling you like; I had pizza sauce and cheese, and the other people in my party had chicken and cheese. We had 5 empanadas and a margarita for about 25 dollars so the prices are amazing and they were all delicious. We are staying at a hotel nearby for another week and I plan on going back at least one more time for the great food and drinks! read more

We got an exorbitant amount of food for what we paid, so we were happy to start. We were about to walk right past this restaurant but the waitress by the door handed us a menu and made conversation (which no others did, although all businesses were struggling that week due to the virus and restaurants having to close indoor service). The menu did pique our interest, so we ordered one pork taco, one beef empanada, and one guava and cheese empanada. We were told a few minutes later than the kitchen had run out of guava, but they could make it with mango. It was still really good with mango but not the same. The outside of the empanada was caramelized and drenched in cinnamon sugar--more of a dessert than we expected. If we come back, we'll have to get the $2 Heinekens that all the other reviewers are raving about! read more

Perfect late night dive! We just flew in for our first night in San Juan and their vast selection of empanadas ABSOLUTELY hit the spot.

My husband and I frequent PR about twice a year and came across this gem a couple of years ago! Local spot with great drinks and food with a price point you can't beat! Such a great experience every time we go. This one is pretty simple. A liquor store with a bar area attached that's open all night. I don't think I have to say more. The place is a little seedy, but for $1.25 bottle beers how can you complain? You walk in and can order a six pack but if you want to stay there and drink it they have to pour the beers into cups. 6 beers cost 7 bucks. I stayed at the La Concha Marriott across the street and saved a boatload of cash not drinking at the hotel bar. Lastly they will deliver any kind of alcohol right to your hotel room in the area. For fancy condado area this is probably as five as you can get. The Latin music is always blaring. There's a great balcony to people watch. There a lunch buffet too that I will never partake in. Do not get caught in the tourist trap of paying astronomical prices for mojitos the resorts. This place is a dive but there is something about the place that feels comfortable.
