Balanzo Seafood Shot
Christopher L.

Went to in August for my sisters birthday at Sea Senor in San Juan and it was great spot to start the night out. The atmosphere is always lively with a straight view into the street. The drink menu was well explained that helped our ordering. Their cocktails are delicious and creative. We started with Balazo Seafood Shots that we loved! The bartenders know their stuff and can whip up anything you want quickly. The food was good and fresh but the portions were small for the price. Definitely a spot for a snack and drinks.

Desiree was such an incredible server! She provided not only the greatest service but an experience that my husband and I will never forget. She recommended her favorites and I am so thankful for all of these tasty dishes and drinks. Will definitely recommend this place to all of my friends and family. The atmosphere and vibes were everything and more.

The food, ambiance and Yailen the waitress was so amazing!! We had to come back again because the balazo seafood became our obsession!

Stopped in with friends on a Saturday night around 11pm. We had a round of drinks and 3 orders of churros. We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and engaging the entire time. Most tables inside and outside were full and they were doing a lot of business through their walk up window, as well. The churros were amazing. We had both regular churros and the filled churros. They were crispy, fresh, and perfectly seasoned.

The food was just okay, and the drinks were decent... not bad, but nothing that really stood out. I wouldn't go back personally, just because I think there are better options out there. That said, it wasn't a terrible experience, and I did enjoy the area... it's a nice spot to walk around and explore before or after dinner.

I sat outside for dinner. There was live music, which would ideally be great, but given the location of the restaurant, it seemed that every establishment was trying to outdo each other with the volume of music. The queso Birria tacos were good. The consume have it the extra kick. I had the coconut margarita and it was delicious.

Chicken tinga tacos + onions

Came in on a rainy night and was about to get an indoor table, I ordered the chicken tinga tacos... hands down the best chicken tinga tacos I've ever had.. and I've traveled in Mexico multiple times.. my friend ordered the carnitas and said the same thing about her experience! We both ended up ordering a second order for a total of 6 tacos each, I added onions to the second round tho. The green sauce they offer is amazing.

Muy delicioso! Excellent location for that late night need to feed the alcohol. The fish tacos and street corn were the best. The chicken tacos were just okay. Service was also just okay. It took a while to get their attention. We had a party of five so they had to combine two of the outside tables. I was in the mood to try something new so I ordered a Mezcal drink. The server warned me several time that it was non-refundable. Her warnings almost talked me out of being adventurous. It's right in the middle of the action. Perfect for partying and people watching.

The ceviche was not good. That's all we had with our drinks. It had a weird Smokey after taste.

Too expensive appetizers for what it is, everything seems like just samples and nothing special, very commercial...another tourist trap.

Kept seeing a bunch of reviews on how amazing this place was and honestly it's up there…read more To start off, I'm not really a sweets guy so my take is going to be a little off from the general public. We were able to snag a reservation but for a late time which was about an hour and a half before close. The service was super great but one thing I wished they mentioned that the bottled water was going to be a $40 charge lol. Makes sense for any upscale restaurant though. Should've mentioned we wanted tap so fair warning, ask cause you WILL get charged haha. We had a group of 10 and for how big the group was, the food came out pretty fast. I don't think we ever had a time between drinks to entrees where we were waiting for food to come out. We got the watermelons mojito for drinks since it was the most raved about. It was good but personally nothing crazy for me. 8/10 score on that. We also curry popcorn chicken, the ahi tuna lollipops, the empanadillas and the goat cheese quesadillas for apps and honestly overall 9/10. This is where I don't like the sweetness part of this meal. The empanadillas were what I was most excited for but it was more sweet then savory which sort of lose my appetite a little. I think if you like that kind of taste then it's going to be good. It wasn't a bad taste at all. Just too sweet for my liking. The curry popcorn chicken was good and the lollipops were great. Again, nothing crazy. The goat cheese quesadillas was good as well but again, too sweet for my liking. Now on to the entree, they didn't have the porkchop since we came late so I ended up getting the porkchop belly dish. When it came out, it looked amazing but then I got a whiff of it and smelled cinnamon. That's when I was sort of disappointed. It was like eating pork but tasting Cinnamon Toast Crunch and as said before, it tasted great but too sweet for me. This one was way too sweet to where it seemed like a dessert item. I just had poor luck and got one of the one items that were sweet. This doesn't tank the rating down whatsoever because I also should've read it had cinnamon. It would've been great if they made a dipping sauce or something to pair it with and not have it on the pork belly itself. I got to try other dishes my friends got which were good as well but I wish I got to try something else. If I came back I would try the sold out item which was the pork shank or the sea bass. I know for a fact the sea bass was amazing. Had a bite of it and thought "I'll come back for that" Overall, 10/10 experience and nothing bad about the place but gotta try different items when I go next time. I understand the hype now

This restaurant was a must-try after seeing everyone rage about it online, and it definitely lived…read moreup to the hype. Out of all the restaurants I visited in Puerto Rico, my friends and I came to the agreement that this was definitely the best one, and I can't believe we almost didn't come! To start off, the staff is super nice and made us feel welcome. I may be biased because one of them complimented my "gracias" (lol) but they were accommodating and patient as we had a hard time deciding what we wanted to order, since everything looked so good! The pinchos de atun was a must-try since everyone online was talking about that dish in particular, and it was AMAZING. The tuna is so fresh and complimented so well by the sauce and the rice cracker. The ceasar salad was flavorful and a great addition, since we didn't have much veggies at that point in our trip. And the sea bass!! SO tender and delicious. We also got the perfect lady cocktail and the guava & cheese bread pudding, and both were perfectly sweet and balanced out the rest of the meal. Everything about this place was amazing. The inside of the restaurant is very pretty and it's located near La Placita, so easily accessible to the nightlife if you want to party afterward. I will definitely be recommending Santaella to all my friends and coming back if I visit San Juan again.

Wepa wepa! From Groceries to turning up, this is your spot! I was researching spots to celebrate…read morefor New Year's, this was one of the spots that showed up. AMBIANCE You're in the city so it's an eventful area. There's street parking and nearby lots but your best to carpool or rideshare. As for the vibes, I'm told in the daytime it's a local marketplace that's filled with vendors and other fresh produce booths. It's pretty chill with a nice neighborhood feel. As for the evening, this is where to turn up and get a pulse of Puerto Rico parties. EXPERIENCE Go to your bar, pick your vibe from community, club excessive, lounge feel, live music or etc. Drink choices rangeThey have it here! Plenty of photo op spots and good energy. I was here peak of the #DTMF era so it was magical to see people come together with a speaker and a cowbell. A local put into perspective how this was way better than paying for an expensive hotel party. It was truly a 1 of 1 experience. TL;DR OVERALL 5 Stars. It doesn't get any better. There's a reason why this space is dropped in lyrics and people's recommendations because this is the heart of the people. So don't be shy! Grab a drink, walk around, catch a dance, and be safe! TIPS: * Don't just settle for one spot. Be sure to explore around to experience the entire Santurce experience!

Review #1,047 Posted on 4.26.26…read more We came to La Placita on Thursday the 23rd, when in town to celebrate my buddies 50th birthday. I guess this was purposefully done as I've heard it's nuts here on Fridays & Saturdays. When you get dropped off at the main road when you walk down it takes you to all the action in a few hundred feet. This place was still packed, but it was popping, the place to be at night I'd guess. They've got all JJ da of restaurants, bars, & clubs here. Tons of music, & a good time.
