Unpleasantly surprised by the sub-taco-bell-standard food at this Puerto Rican mexican joint. However, the bartender was one of the most accommodating and likable human beings along Ashford Ave.

Loved, loved, loved this place. From the hip hop music to the food, it's a good experience all around. I'm from Texas so this good being so good was surprising. LaPlacita area is a party area and this place delivers.

Half of the quesadilla with pork. Soooooo good.

The service was fine the food was fantastic. I had a quesadilla with pork and it was chock full of such tasty meat. My husband had the biggest burrito and it filled him up. That's saying something for sure. Very happy touristas.

The drink prices are super good even when it's not happy hour & they make them very strong. I've tried rum punch & the house margarita and loved both of them. They serve Mexican food and the empanadas are AMAZING!!! During the daytime it's very chill. Friday & Saturday night it gets pretty packed & crazy, they play good music so it's a really fun party atmosphere. **when I was here the credit card system wasn't working, so it was cash only**

Over priced. The mofongo relleno I ordered was $16.25, but it was nothing like the other ones I've had before. It tasted plain, no garlic taste at all, and it was a waste of my money. I tried eating the shrimp, because of how pricey it was but I had a hard time eating those as well. For authentic Mexican or Puerto Rican food, I do not recommend this place at all. The piña colada I ordered with alcohol literally had no alcohol and if it it did, I definitely didn't taste any.

Was staying at the La Concha Renaissance Hotel across the street from this bar / Mexican restaurant. Stopped in almost every night for a few beers and a taco. The tacos was so delicious - hit the spot at 2am ! Beers and other drinks are very inexpensive and service is super friendly - they have 3 small TVs playing the different ESPN channels. Great music mix playing through the nite and music volume is just right. Only downside is that this place only opens at 4pm - would have loved stopping in for lunch ! Kitchen stays open until 2am and until 4am on Fridays and Saturdays. Liked it so much I sprinted the $15 and bought one of their t-shirts!

During my two weeks trip to Puerto Rico, my boyfriend and I came across this place and we tried the burrito, chicken fajita and pina colada. The food and drink was great. We literally came here 4 times during our trip. I would definitely recommend this place. Thumbs up from me.

Went to this spot while on vacation for my 28th birthday and I THOROUGHLY enjoyed the fajitas!!! We ordered one plate which was MORRRREEEE than enough and the pricing was amazing... we got steak, chicken, and shrimp and also ordered two "Rum Punches" and when I tell you the drinks were equally amazing..... pleaseeee don't search anywhere else if you are in San Juan.... go here and don't hesitate to order a drink or two. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEEE that they use yellow rice with the black beans. I'm totally in awe of this place and can't wait to come back!!!!!!!!

Fun place at night with dope live DJs, went there on a Thursday to see DJ Lighting Bayamons Finest!!! Nice vibe and cool location in La Placita. WEPA Side Note: Never ate the food I went there to drink and dance.

Burrito enchilada = heaven in my mouth!

Just a local hole-in-the-wall joint for people to come to after work and relax with friends over a game of pool and drinks. Pool games are quarter slots, $1/game. We started with an order of queso frito. The dipping sauce is the perfect companion to the warm, crispy coated cheese bites. For two people it was a great amount to share. For our meal we opted to share an order of churrasco, Levi's style, 10oz. I saw pictures online beforehand showing the churrasco plated with tostones and it looked so tasty, so I had to have that for a side. The sauce to go on the meat is delicious! The churrasco is melt in your mouth tender. Between the two of us it worked out because we weren't over stuffed after. Next time I would get a full plate for myself so I could take some home and eat leftovers. It's that good! I drank jugo de parcha and they give you a big glass, ice cold, perfect complement to the churrasco and tostones. My partner had mojito, Levi's style. He enjoyed the drink as well. Service was amazing, she took great care of us. I recommend trying this place for dinner and bringing friends or family. They make you feel at home.

To my surprise, they also offer a lunch special Monday through Friday and let me tell you it's a complete bargain! Most dishes cost about $13.95... and is served by some of the kindest women on the island. There's even a kids menu! Don't let the "sports bar" name fool you, this is a very family friendly restaurant, a place where you're made to feel welcomed and never ignored. The service here is terrific, the staff is warm and helpful. If you are solo or with a group, you'll feel comfortable as soon as you walk in. We paid $101.95 in advance and arrived about 10 minutes before kickoff. Despite arriving before the match started, we were not seated. Staff spent several minutes "checking on it," and after the match had already begun, we were simply told there was "a problem with the table," with no clear explanation. From what I could see, it appeared our table may have been given away or the event may have been oversold. What made it worse was watching people from the walk-in line continue to be let inside while we stood there with our reservation. We were eventually invited to wait inside, but that meant standing in the doorway, directly in the servers' path, while the match was already underway. What bothered me most was the complete lack of respect, honesty, and basic hospitality. A simple, "We're sorry, we made a mistake. Let's get you inside, find you a seat at the bar, and put a cold beer in your hand while we sort this out," would have changed the entire experience. Instead, we were left standing around like an inconvenience. The frustrating part is that punctuality only seemed to matter when it benefited them. We missed the start of the match because of their reservation issue, and then when the match ended, we were asked to leave immediately before we had even finished our beer. It ruined the whole point of coming: watching the Brazil match in a sports-bar atmosphere for a birthday night. If you take prepaid reservations for a game-day event, honor them. If something goes wrong, own it and fix it. This experience was a huge disappointment.

The entire time I was here, I was worried that the floor/ceiling was going to collapse or that there would be a fire and that would be the end of me. Very rarely (especially when intoxicated) have I ever felt as though I was in a deathtrap. This was one such occurrence. To enter the club, you have to walk up a rickety case of stairs, complete with wood paneling to the side, missing ceiling tiles above you and leaking liquid dripping on you. I kid you not. I was all, "whuh?" But, El Balcon is after hours. It stays open until the sun comes up. That's why you come here. And, as your mother told you as a youth, "Nothing good happens after midnight." She's correct. So, once you ascend into Hades, you're surrounded by more wood and more people than should be in one area. Fire codes, people. Look into them. The place was disturbingly crowded. It was impossible to move. Groping was the rule, not the exception. To make this unfortunate crowding even worse, everyone was stomping to the music. Yes, in a second-level club with way too many people over capacity, the patrons thought it was a good idea to stomp and jump and up and down over a ceiling missing tiles and supported by a rickety staircase. Why didn't I leave immediately? Because it was trouble o'clock and I couldn't remember my name. As the crowd stomped, my crew was body surfed into a corner. This was when it dawned on me that there was only one way out of here and it was not close. It also dawned on me how precarious the situation was. If there was a fire, a fight or, even, flatulence, we were donzos. Seeing that I didn't come to PR to die, I convinced my party to leave. It was the best situation one could make as the sun was set to rise. El Balcon, I am sure that you provide a good time for people who wear bad decision jeans. Thing is, they way you're laid out... it's just not safe or smart. Put a doorman at the door. Control the crowd numbers. RENOVATE. Trust me. The money you spend on these improvements will be much less money than you'll have to spend in the event of an unfortunate lawsuit.
