I thought their food and drinks were just okay. We did have a really big group, but we had the same size group at other restaurants and did not have to wait nearly as long for food and drinks. I ordered the crab benedict and one of their classic cocktails and didn't really like either. The crab benedict definitely needed some tomato or some acidity. The portion sizes are good, however!
I visited Semilla towards the end of the night. The place was very cozy and quiet inside. Their food menu is limited but I think they specialize more in their cocktails and brunches. The servers were kind and attentive. I tried their honey Asian wings and tuna tar tar tostones. The wings were amazing but the tartare seemed a bit bland and not really tartare. I also tried their pork tenderloin which was quite tasty. (That and the burger would be my top picks of their dinner menu) What really amazed me was their dark chocolate monkey cocktail. Overall, I feel like this place is slightly touristy and tailored to tourists. Their food is good but I feel like their brunch food would be better. If you're looking for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine maybe try somewhere else, but If you're looking for a place to get some cocktails, definitely check semilla out.
HOW DOES THIS PLACE ONLY HAVE 246 in 8yrs?!?! This place NEEDS a few Michelin stars! I had the dates w/bacon ($12) and the ahi Tostones ($14) & OMG I added the guava salsa and HOLY COW BEST EVER - and reasonably priced If I ever come back, this will be in my MUST stop list. All wait staff were friendly & accommodating and the inside is very cute and modern.
I arrived at 5pm on a Friday and it was empty. The bartender greeted me. I don't like to go to packed places. So it suited me. Restaurants in this area start to fill up after 7pm. This place is located off a street from Ashford. In the Condado area of PR. So you might not see it unless you search. Menu has Italian dishes and seafood plates. I have attached the QR code in the pics. I ordered a chicken Carbonara. This plate elevated my spirits along with the Dark Chocolate Monkey drink. I left satisfied. Ambience was a casual vibe.

He also ordered Semilla Benedict (eggs Benedict) and I ordered the Versos De Cervantes. My husband loved his meal. Inhaled it all. I really enjoyed mine. It was a bed of mixed meat and potatoes and a egg on top with a super crispy buttery piece of bread. I was able to get a bite of the chicken and waffles from my sister - the ones in our group who ordered this, waited the longest. But the flavor was delicious. 10/10!! Miss this place. Check them out!!! Mucha Gracias! Espero que más gente visite este lugar :)
Such a good brunch spot. The chicken and waffles was unique, with cheese and bacon in the waffle then chicken tenders on the side. Make sure to try their guava BBQ sauce; tastes more like a sweet and sour sauce but was a perfect pair with the chicken tenders. Great brunch spot to fuel up before a beach day!

Today it's a drink and turnovers/empanadas of sorts. Bourbon Sour, excellently crafted, right down tot the egg whites and garnish. Empanadas of sorts, outstanding! The ambiance is nice. The staff very friendly and helpful. It's worth seeking out, just a smooch off the beaten path.
What a Gem! It's been years since my return to Puerto Rico and a shame that reviews aren't being made, especially for this place. Semilla Kitchen & Bar deserves a Michelin star for their outstanding flavors and consistency. I enjoyed their brunch on back to back days because it was that impressive. The welcoming feeling of employees was warm and they were very attentive. The short walk from my hotel was as convenient as can be but if you're not staying close by, it's worth it to make the drive, taxi, or uber. The menu for brunch cocktails is not extensive but on point. The food menu provides exotic twists fusing various styles of flavor profiles. On a personal level, my wife and I characterize the best of the best food as "stupid". We've encountered 6 stupid foods in about 8 years and two were here. What wasn't stupid was "dumb"! lol. Come here and bring your friends to enjoy a great meal with great ambiance.
We are visiting from out of town and loved this place! Majority of the reviews seem to be about brunch (which I'm sure is bomb!) but dinner was so good. You have to get the bacon dates, the wings hit the spot, and the cod fritters were great! My husband had the burger and loved it. All staff were super friendly and honest (we tried to order the cheesecake, but they were out of the topping and said that it is what makes the dish!) which was super appreciated. Our first time in San Juan and we will definitely be back on our next visit!

We visited Semilla Kitchen & Bar on our first day in San Juan, and it was the perfect way to kick off our trip. We were staying at the Condado Palm Inn and wanted somewhere walkable, and this place absolutely delivered. The bar area is super trendy and colorful, with bright flowers lining the bar that make the whole space feel lively and inviting. Such a fun vibe right away. Our waitress, Femarie , was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The drinks were ice cold, well poured, and delicious, which is exactly what you want in that Puerto Rico heat. House margaritas for the win! For food, I ordered the club sandwich with fries, and everything tasted fresh and made to order. C got the burger, cooked to perfection. We really loved the local feel here. It didn't feel touristy, just a great neighborhood spot with good energy, great service, and tasty food. Definitely recommend Semilla if you're in the Condado Beach area and looking for a solid place for a light lunch or drinks. Would absolutely go back! read more

AMAZING. definitely try the steak and eggs. They are to die for. The almond French toast was sweet no need for syrup but not overwhelming. Service was great, very welcoming and ambience is chill. Family friendly. Coffee was also great. Plan on coming back again ! read more

Amazing . Crunchy. Flavorful . Tart. My local friend told me this is the dish to prepare for my wife after we fight , and want to make up . I see now why this dish has the power to heal marriages !!! read more
Tried Semilla Benedict, with no truffle in the fries or chorizo and the meat tasted like corn beef hash, no fufu. I don't appreciate being bamboozled like this. The salad was fresh and the Benedict was okay, but not what I paid for... The inside of the restaurant is very welcoming and comfortable. The service is slow and efficient. My food came out within 15 minutes of ordering, so that's a plus. The Latte was 5.25 and satisfying. I still would recommend this restaurant. It has a understated, upscale coziness about it. From the music to the art work. You will enjoy it. Please note: construction is right across the street with tons of men. If you are alone, keep that in mind. No one said anything to me, but some might be turned off by the stares. read more

Just off the beaten path of the busy strip in Coronado, you'll find this nice restaurant & bar. Look for the S. You'll feel right at home as you enter. The aesthetics are warm and inviting. Pretty decor. Good ropa vieja empanadas. Good drinks. Great service. Lorenzo was our server. Great! Hey...there is a secret speakeasy in the back. Eat and have a few drinks here and then move to the other side of wall to continue the night at their speak easy. Enjoyable night out. read more

Service was great. They are very nice and attentive. Drinks are BOMB. We started with mimosas and then had the Semillosa which is mimosa and sangria. I got the white sangria. It was a perfect balance and tasted really good. The truffle fries were good the first day but had just a tad too much seasoning the second day. Still really good!! The spot is super cute and in the cut! Nice and quiet but good background music. Will definitely recommend and go back. read more
Came here for the gluten free options. Their menu isn't labeled but our server Junei was knowledgable about gf options. We ordered the gf pork tenderloin. Others ordered the filet, baccalaitos, and ropa vieja turnovers. All were really great! They also have some specialty cocktails. The Chocolate Monkey was a nice treat! This was my favorite food spot of our trip! Everything was so good and fresh. I had the Pork Tenderloin, everything in it was so good the risotto, the pork, the chorizo and everything else. My friend got the Pasta Bolognese and she really liked it also. Overall great experience regardless of the event that was going on. Everyone was still very attentive and helpful with my friend who wanted to try a Puerto Rican beer! The inside was very pretty and felt cozy. read more

Rating more like a 3.75/4 Brunch was pretty good here. Ordered the chicken & waffle and the almond French toast. The chicken and waffle was ok. The standout was the guava bbq sauce. The almond French toast was delicious with a strong almond flavor. Overall a good spot for brunch in the Condado area, within walking distance from most hotels in the area. As is true is most restaurants, expect service to be a bit slow. read more

Went Sunday AM and it wasn't that busy. Seated asap. That said, I counted over 8 employees but for some reason the service was super slow. Took over 30 minutes for the Benedict, which had no bread under it, and another 30 for the dumplings. Drinks also took forever and the waiters didn't come check on us unless I pulled them over or got their attention. Ambiance and location were good but because of how slow it was, I wouldn't recommend as they had plenty of employees. There's clearly an operational issue going on. read more
Semilla means seed in Spanish and baby whatever the seed is that they planted - it's bearing good fruit. Someone I follow on Instagram made a highlight of San Juan and this restaurant came highly recommended. Immediately after checking into my hotel, I showered and was on the hunt for food. Looked on Yelp to see what was nearby and to my surprise this place was at the end of the same block. I arrived on Tuesday at about 5:45 so still pretty early. The place was empty as in no one else. The host told me it was a limited taco Tuesday menu ( see pic). The space is dimly lit and beautifully decorated with tea lights on the ceiling, beautiful art work but the star was the food and drinks. I started with a passion fruit Semillosa ( Sangria + Mimosa) delicious The fish in the taco was so juicy and fresh. Light enough but filling. One comes with the order and that's all I needed to feel full without the heaviness. I ordered guacamole and chips but they didn't have any avocados so he substituted that for the nachos. They were just ok. I couldn't identify parts of the composition which was reason for me to not proceed. It looked like bees wax. Overall Semilla is alright with me. I'll be here in PR for 5 days and I can see myself having meals here at least once a day or at least a drink. Prices are low ranging from $6.50-$15.00. How can you beat that. read more

We went to the backdoor bar here called Vine. It's a little speak easy at the back of Semilla. Loved the decor, ambience, music and ofcourse the drinks here. We also found the drinks are reasonably priced, given how much alcohol they are putting in cocktails and keeping it unadulterated by not putting ice. read more
