We haven't been to Grand Sierra Resort in quite some time, so it was nice to be back--especially for a birthday celebration. We were greeted by hostess Julie, who was warm and welcoming right from the start. I really appreciated that the staff acknowledged the birthday without us even having to mention it. Our server, Mary Jane, already knew, which was a great touch (likely from reservation notes which, honestly, was a refreshing change from a past experience at Peppermill). Mary Jane was excellent--attentive, consistent, and on top of everything. Even with how busy it was, she made us feel like we were her only table. Chloe, our food runner, kept things running smoothly. The atmosphere was lively with trivia night and team competitions going on, which added a fun vibe. They also have outdoor seating available. Food was good overall. The birthday boy loved the Crabfest! Tried their sampler platter and Lobster fries both were just okay. Our shrimp came out overcooked at first, but they quickly corrected it and the second round was great. The seafood pasta, fish & chips, shrimp, and poke tacos were all decent, but nothing particularly memorable. Service is definitely 5 stars. Our group (family) came here for dinner, and we had a great meal. It was a rather quiet afternoon, about 3 pm, and we were seated between the fireplace wall and the bar. We were greeted by our server (John, I believe), who took drink orders and brought those, but then he took about 15 minutes before taking our meal order. We could see hi working tables between the bar and the casino floor, so we know he wasn't hiding, but it was not the promptest order taking. We ordered a lot, so I'll try to remember them all! We started with onion rings, calamari, and the combo platter (wings, calamari, mozzarella sticks, onion rings). For entrees, there were Cobb salads (Romaine, iceberg, spring mix, crumbled bleu cheese, cherry tomatoes, corn, bacon, eggs, pickled red onions, cucumber, green goddess dressing) but with bacon on the side and extra dressing on the side as well. We also ordered a kid's cheeseburger, and a Paddy Melt (Smashed beef burger, Guinness-braised onions with cheddar and American cheese, bacon, Burger-zing sauce on garlic, grilled sourdough). There were other dishes, but these are the ones with photos! The food came quickly and was nice and hot. Except the salads. The onion rings are always well fried, crisp and not oily. The combo platter is also a favorite, and the calamari went fast as well. The salads are fresh, colorful, with textures and tastes that really come together, and the Green Goddess is a perfect choice. The Paddy Melt was cooked perfectly, and nicely presented, and the kid's burger (1/2) was just the right size for a 10-year-old. I would say a solid three stars...leaning to the half...nothing wrong with this place, just expected better. The inside and ambience was amazing for a sports bar and our server was excellent. We opted to get the GSR lager, for the price point and the low alcohol content for lunch. This was deliciously cold and satisfying. Hub ordered the boneless buffalo wings and wanted some fries, but the only fries were the chickie fries and they were not only pricey, but also too big for a one person portions, so I helped him eat those. The fries tasted good, but the cheese was super meh...I did not get much out of that at all. I also ordered a salad and the salad was quite good with the dressing on the side. A bit expensive, but it is in a casino...I would definitely return for the beer...in fact we got two big ones to go later that evening we liked the beer so much. read more

Great atmosphere in a great location perfectly located inside the GSR casino. Huge televisions everywhere with plenty tables to sit at! But definitely not the most kid friendly as they had no kids menu. Luckily my kids split a hamburger and they both absolutely loved this burger! Plus that cheese dip with the fries are everything!!! I hated the buffalo nachos! When you hear buffalo chicken nachos you think a buffalo chicken... not basic chicken with a small amount of buffalo sauce on the chips. Gross. The crab fries were delicious but got a little soggy. And the price of everything was definitely on the high side. $6 for a fountain soda??? Really? For me it I drink half a cup? Way steep. Service was terrible--this is NOT a place to bring children or teens, and definitely not a good volleyball spot. Service was extremely slow, and management seemed to only cater to guests ordering liquor rather than accommodating kids' or teen parties. We had a party of 25, spent a significant amount of money, and were very disappointed with both the service and overall customer care. Eric, the general manager, was beyond terrible. He showed no concern for the kids or parents in our group and made no effort to improve the situation. The food was overly greasy and not worth the price. Although the venue appeared large, they placed both kids and adults outside, assuring us there were heaters, but they did not properly attend to our needs. Every issue had to go through a manager, and unfortunately, Eric seemed completely out of touch with how to handle customer concerns. I would strongly recommend choosing another restaurant at Grand Sierra Resort. You'll likely have a much better experience elsewhere. read more

I started with a blueberry virgin mojito that was good but was definitely missing something besides the alcohol and was slightly disappointing for $9 with no refills. I got a side salad which was quite good, very fresh with great ranch dressing and croutons. Lastly, for the main entree, I got the BBQ Burger and fries. The burger was great, the patty was juicy and perfectly cooked, the bun was delicious, but it could have had some more BBQ sauce. Honestly, the fries were slightly better and probably the star of the night. They were very well seasoned, crispy, and practically perfect. The venue is very nice and open with a lot of space between guests, and very nice large screens to watch the games while being conveniently located in the GSR. The tradeoff is it is a little expensive for what it is, you're paying a premium while on GSR property, but it does qualify for the locals 25% discount so be sure to have your GSR rewards card and your driver's license to get the discount before paying! read more

Both were yummy. I read another review that said the clam chowder was one of the worst, I would have to disagree. Both me and hubs enjoyed it. I had some type of a blueberry lavender mint mocktail which had potential but was sooooo tart not in the good way, hubs had a basic ceasar salad add chicken that he said was 3 stars. Great sports watching can be had here. They DO carry a gluten free bun and I would come back here to try it. Today my husband and I returned to Chickie and Pete's because of our positive experience last year. First of all, this restaurant was immaculate and there was no wait to be seated. We ordered the chicken club sandwich and the barbecue burger, both with fries. The food was filling but just ok. I had hoped to have the teriyaki burger from last year but learned it was no longer on the menu. The prices are high, too. 5.00 for a soda or iced tea. Fries are not included with your meal. Lunch for the two of us was 60.00!! Where Chickie and Pete's really shines is in the area of service. Our waitress, Nicci, was efficient and friendly. One of the best waitresses we have encountered! This is my 3rd visit to Chickie's & Pete's in Reno, and I've had a great experience each time. I've gone to Chickie's & Pete's in Philly so I've always known what to expect, and at the GSR this is one of the better restaurant options IMO. The service has always been great, and this last visit was no exception. Our server was quick to bring out water, get our drink orders, and the food also came out pretty quick after ordering. I came with my family and one thing to note is there is no kids menu, so expect to get a full entree for the kids. The other thing to note is any of the burgers, Cheesesteaks, etc. don't come with fries, so you will be ordering a large basket if you want fries. To me those are the 2 biggest sticking points for ordering, all the food I've tried here has been good. Th Cheeseburger is greasy and delicious, the salads have been good, and the Philly Cheesesteak is a staple you should try. I've never actually tried any seafood options at C&P's, just doesn't seem like the right location to get quality seafood. They have a good list of beers on tap, and a full bar so you can get whatever you need. Don't forget to use the locals discount if you are a local, it helps with the overall bill and makes the entire meal feel a little more affordable. Will be back on my next visit to GSR, especially when football season starts since there are so many TVs! read more

Service was great and the place had a huge wall tv grid. Good to watch sports for sure That's the good part. The food was over cooked... mussels and clams are for sure overcooked. They shrunk and become sticky to the inner shell. I know cuz i over cooked clams before. They need to be pulled out once they open...perhaps this place probably dump it all in a pan and put a cover over it and that was it. One more min and the shrimp would start shrinking even more. Only thing I order and I did finished it. But, its overcooked. Not acceptable for a $50 dish... and pretty much 80% mussels and clams I saw most people order pizza and burgers... those look nice... too bad I didn't get that and it was only $20... I was here during spring break with my family. I was excited to try this restaurant but I was very unimpressed with the few items I got from here for a quick bite on April 14th. I love my seafood and based on those two dishes, I will not go back. The steamer clams were disappointing. I never had bad steamer clams ever until now. It didn't even come with bread to dip the broth and the broth has no flavor as well. I got 6 raw oysters and I can eat more but it was terrible. Glad that I didn't order a lot. My second oyster I ate was bad and I was afraid for the next one. We told them about the bad oyster I ate and they had someone from the kitchen tell me that they were all fresh and shucked just now. As if, my complaint wasn't legit. I understand that they can't tell just by looking at it that it's not good since I couldn't as well. I was just hungry and looking forward to trying this place. I wasn't even trying to get anything for free. I love oysters and yet again, this was my first experience with eating a bad oyster ever as well. There was nothing they did to try to please their customers or to even offer a discount at all. At least 10% off or something. But nothing. Just sorry. Or maybe one oyster to replace that bad one but I didn't even want to try any more after that anyways. I was afraid that I was going to get sick. Thankfully, I didn't. Our visit to this Chickie's and Pete's was wonderful. The hostess was super informative and told us all about the specials. She made some recommendations and showed us how the drink menu was on one menu and then the food was on the other. The server Bailey was really sweet too. She took our order, repeated it back to us and brought everything out just as ordered. The drink took a little bit of extra time, but it was really tasty and although it was a little more than we were hoping to pay for a drink, it was very strong and tasted great. On a quick trip to Reno, we have dinner at this location. We somehow walked right by the hostess stand and was just waiting near the sign. The hostess got our attention and we were seated quickly. I asked can we sit closer to this lit fire, nice to look at but didn't function as a heater, very cute. We ordered the snow crab and Seafood Pasta. The snow crab was a little salty but pretty good. The pasta was AMAZING!!! I can't stop thinking about how yummy the flavor and quality was. I finally made it to the new spot inside GSR, and overall--it was just okay. The front of the menu leans heavily into bar food with a seafood twist: crab pizza, fish tacos, lobster nachos, etc. The back of the menu has more traditional seafood options like boils, oysters, mussels, and lobster tails. We decided to stick with the safer bar bites with seafood add-ons. We ordered the lobster roll, calamari rings, and crab and street corn nachos. Surprisingly, the nachos were the star of the show. The sauce was unique--not your standard nacho cheese--and it worked well with the flavors. The lobster roll, however, was dry, and the lobster meat tasted like it had been sitting in the freezer. Big letdown. The calamari rings were just okay--crispy but nothing standout. The vibe is very much a sports bar scene with tons of TVs, a cute fireplace, and--this being GSR--plenty of slot machines and tables if you're seated near the front. Service was fine; no complaints but nothing particularly memorable either. If I'm back at GSR and feeling hungry, I'd consider coming back for the nachos or maybe trying the lobster pizza, but it's not a place I'm rushing to return to. read more

As transplanted New Englanders, we are always open to trying new seafood experiences. In this case, we needed to stop by the GSR box office and decided to also have a Friday lunch at Chickie's & Pete's. We will not return. Service was painfully slow and it appeared that there were not enough servers for the lunch crowd. Easily 20 minutes to place our drink orders and luckily we were prepared to order food at the same time. Drinks took another 15 minutes to appear. The best service came from the kitchen food runners and the most of the food arrived hot. The Fish + Chips was good: light batter coating, well seasoned, and the cod was tasty. The crab fries are good - especially with the cheese sauce. Clam chowder was also good but the calarmari was just about the worst we have had in the west. Heavy on the breading and totally unseasoned, they arrived cold with marinara sauce that looked like it had parmesan cheese sprinkled over it. Couldn't even finish the appetizer portion between two of us. Another long wait for the check even though we flagged down the other server to check for us. Then there's the price point. At $25 for two pieces of cod in the Fish + Chips, the meal is woefully overpriced. Same for the bowl of clam chowder at $12. And those were the two most successful dishes. The venue is nice and new; we sat next to a fireplace. But the atmosphere can't make up for mediocre food at a high price. read more

We stopped in Chickie and Pete's on Saturday night for dinner. It's at the GSR resort in Reno. We were quoted 20 min wait, actually waited closer to 50. It's Saturday night, I get it, except the restaurant was half empty when we were seated. Tons of split TVs for game day on the walls, the best part of the atmosphere, honestly. Waited about 10 min to be greeted, ordered an appetizer and two cocktails. The calamari beat our water to the table. It was all uniform same size pieces, so I assume it's pressed somehow. The marinara that came with it was delicious, the garlic aioli was just ok. For entrees we got the Cobb salad add chicken, and the crab cake sandwich. They both looked better than they tasted. We immediately wished we had opted to share nachos, those looked amazing. The Cobb is covered in pickled onion, which raw works better for this kind of salad, and my lettuce was absolutely drenched in ranch. Not even edible. The chicken was precooked and cold, would have been way better hot. Cocktails were fine, not great and the service when we got it was ok. Hubby had the crab cake sandwich again does not come with fries or anything for 30$ outrageously expensive . It was very very fishy he said he would not order it again . Also missing was the special ketchup advertised on the menu. When we addressed this with our server she went to check with the kitchen. Her answer was there was a misprint on the menu. Shake my head. An offer or discount would have made things much better. That just didn't sit well. The clam chowder was probably right up there with the worst I've had. The thickener used had an over powering taste and it was strangely thick. There was a lack of clams and too many potatoes. Came for lunch after a convention and was quickly seated. David was our server and was super welcoming from the start. He got our drink orders, I asked if they had sweet tea and they didn't however, David, because he's so awesome, came back with "sweet tea" that tasted better than tea with the packets of sugar. He added some simple syrup to the tea and boom, sweet tea. Now, that def was great he made the effort to find a solution for my sweet tea fix. We asked for some menu suggestions and decided on the philly cheesesteak and the vegan veggie nachos subbed their cheese sauce in lieu of the vegan cheese and a side of fries. My cheesesteak was huge, i couldn't finish it. The fries (apparently i missed that pic) were perfect, not soggy and not overdone with their magical seasoning (old bay). My friend's nachos were also delicious. David checked on us the perfect amount of time and keep my sweet tea full. You know what is awesome?
