Chickie's and Pete's is a huge sports bar restaurant, located inside the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino. Their menu consists of sandwiches, burgers, soup, and seafood dishes. We've dined here a number of times. The service is friendly and attentive. And, you'll always catch a popular sport being televised on their many TVs. My husband loves that they're able to cook his burgers rare (which is not common). I love that they make great sandwiches. It's also a bonus that they offer 20% discount to locals. read more

First, our waitress was awesome. She did the best she could with what she had to work with. Best to Mary Jane. WOOHOO! Now the rest... we had tickets to a show that started at 7pm. In the meantime, we wanted a nice dinner and we wanted to watch the UFC fights in their special UFC fight section. Well, that didn't go well. They sat us at a table where ONE seat of the four could actually see the screens. They kept losing the signal and NEVER were able to get the sound to work on the fights. The probably needed a 9 year old to help them out with the AV systems. Oh and ... they a minimum per person of $45. And they couldn't get the feed to work. Seriously. Now the cocktails. One of the guys wanted a Manhattan. They had no sweet vermouth. NO SWEET VERMOUTH? IN THE ENTIRE BUILDING? We have three kinds in our house. Very disappointing. Now food... Appetizer was great - the corn dip on the specials' menu. He had some chicken dish, I had the smashburger special. Bully's makes a better burger. And they have Sweet Vermouth. Dined here over a dozen times and failed to write a review because each time I eat here my hands are smelling like crab meat from all the finger licking crab I stuff myself with here. Down to the simple basics. Get a market price crab with 20% discount anyday of the week if you have a players card and a local reno resident. This is the only place I dine in here in Reno to get a freshly roasted crab with the Cajun spices. Good enough to share for two or feast it all yourself. If you know how to strip and pick every source of edible meat on crab and love it, this is the place to grab one. They also have this nice sports bar setup with so many tv's to make you feel it is still 6pm even though it is close to midnight. Place is lively and has other good dishes like crabbie fries which they are known for which are basically a seasons crinkle fries with cheese dips. Staff is always nice and friendly and this place is good for either date night or family night. Oysters and clam chowder soup is also nicely prepared and tasting great! Came here yesterday to watch the 49er game. This is a perfect place to watch the game. There is big screens all over restaurant. It gets packed during big games so I suggest you get there early to get a table. They don't take reservations. We had a perfect table in front of the game. The raider game was going on as well. We ordered a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich and fries! And an appetizer combo. On the cheesesteak sandwich it didn't come with jalapeños or hot peppers you had to pay extra. Was expensive like $2 each. So that was disappointing. But the cheesesteak was delicious! One of the best I've had. It was worth the up charge for the peppers and jalapeños. The combo appetizer was really good as well. The mozzarella cheese sticks were good, but didn't have a good cheese pull but nevertheless it was still good, especially with the marinara sauce. I also liked the wings . Staff were friendly when you could find them. Service was very slow in this casual sports bar. Great access to watch games, but come for a high priced drink and skip the food. I had the fried chicken club and the house sauce couldn't be found, the chicken was tiny, and the lettuce/tomato was a suggestion. The fries looked crispy, but sadly were lacking. Good: TV's-- lots of them and all games are on. Not good: They switch to "late night" menu at 7 PM that has only burgers and fried items. Almost no seafood items. I asked about the lobster roll and they said they can't make it at this time hot or cold. Mixed: Staff was friendly, but slow even for drinks. read more

Our group (family) came here for dinner, and we had a great meal. It was a rather quiet afternoon, about 3 pm, and we were seated between the fireplace wall and the bar. We were greeted by our server (John, I believe), who took drink orders and brought those, but then he took about 15 minutes before taking our meal order. We could see hi working tables between the bar and the casino floor, so we know he wasn't hiding, but it was not the promptest order taking. We ordered a lot, so I'll try to remember them all! We started with onion rings, calamari, and the combo platter (wings, calamari, mozzarella sticks, onion rings). For entrees, there were Cobb salads (Romaine, iceberg, spring mix, crumbled bleu cheese, cherry tomatoes, corn, bacon, eggs, pickled red onions, cucumber, green goddess dressing) but with bacon on the side and extra dressing on the side as well. We also ordered a kid's cheeseburger, and a Paddy Melt (Smashed beef burger, Guinness-braised onions with cheddar and American cheese, bacon, Burger-zing sauce on garlic, grilled sourdough). There were other dishes, but these are the ones with photos! The food came quickly and was nice and hot. Except the salads. The onion rings are always well fried, crisp and not oily. The combo platter is also a favorite, and the calamari went fast as well. The salads are fresh, colorful, with textures and tastes that really come together, and the Green Goddess is a perfect choice. The Paddy Melt was cooked perfectly, and nicely presented, and the kid's burger (1/2) was just the right size for a 10-year-old. All things considered, it was a great meal, and once we got the order in, the service was attentive and professional. Looking forward to a return visit here. read more

Came here twice. Everything was a ok. More of a 3.5 but rounding up for overall experienxd. Cocktails weren't great. Too sweet and not enough alcohol. Crab Rangoon cheese sticks were a fun way to eat mozarella sticks and they were delicious! Could use maybe some green onions in the filling and a spicier dressing but yum! Caesar salad with salmon was good. Not the best dressing but salmon was cooked to my liking (a little under done). Friends seemed to enjoy their meals but I forgot what they ordered. First visit service was so lax. Very casual and no one in a rush. Loved the big screens to watch the World Cup. Second visit sat by the bar. Service was friendly personable and we got checked on often. We tipped her well because she knew we were going to be there watching the USA game and we had just eaten so ordered drinks and desserts. The cookie dessert with ice cream is FABULOUS. warm and gooey and salty and chocolatey. So lovely. Definitely recommend. We ordered more crab Rangoon sticks. And other friend had the fried donuts but they looked overdone. All in all, it's pricey because it's in the resort. We haven't been to Grand Sierra Resort in quite some time, so it was nice to be back--especially for a birthday celebration. We were greeted by hostess Julie, who was warm and welcoming right from the start. I really appreciated that the staff acknowledged the birthday without us even having to mention it. Our server, Mary Jane, already knew, which was a great touch (likely from reservation notes which, honestly, was a refreshing change from a past experience at Peppermill). Mary Jane was excellent--attentive, consistent, and on top of everything. Even with how busy it was, she made us feel like we were her only table. Chloe, our food runner, kept things running smoothly. The atmosphere was lively with trivia night and team competitions going on, which added a fun vibe. They also have outdoor seating available. Food was good overall. The birthday boy loved the Crabfest! Tried their sampler platter and Lobster fries both were just okay. Our shrimp came out overcooked at first, but they quickly corrected it and the second round was great. The seafood pasta, fish & chips, shrimp, and poke tacos were all decent, but nothing particularly memorable. Service is definitely 5 stars. I would say a solid three stars...leaning to the half...nothing wrong with this place, just expected better. The inside and ambience was amazing for a sports bar and our server was excellent. We opted to get the GSR lager, for the price point and the low alcohol content for lunch. This was deliciously cold and satisfying. Hub ordered the boneless buffalo wings and wanted some fries, but the only fries were the chickie fries and they were not only pricey, but also too big for a one person portions, so I helped him eat those. The fries tasted good, but the cheese was super meh...I did not get much out of that at all. I also ordered a salad and the salad was quite good with the dressing on the side. A bit expensive, but it is in a casino...I would definitely return for the beer...in fact we got two big ones to go later that evening we liked the beer so much. read more

This was an extremely disappointing visit to Chickie's & Pete's. We had reservations here for dinner before the Lucy Darling show. Upon arrival, we were sat immediately and greeted by our waitress. The restaurant was clean, bright, and had very few occupied tables. The service from our waitress was non-existent during our stay even though there were very few tables requiring service. She was at our table to greet us and take our drinks, and to take our order but that was it. We had to leave our table to find her to get drink refills and to ask for our check. To drink, we ordered the Churchill Sour and the Blueberry Mojito with a shot of the house rum (it's a virgin on the menu). The Churchill Sour was well balanced and complex. The Blueberry Mojito with a shot of house rum was anything but good. It tasted like straight soda water...even after being mixed at the table. I did order a 2nd one later on and did 2 shots of the house rum and specifically asked for the bartender to mix it and it did taste slightly better. I was shocked to see that on the bill that EACH shot of house rum cost almost the exact same as the Churchill Sour! To start the meal we ordered the crispy calamari. Not only did this come out barely warm and chewy from being overcooked, but it also came to our table with our main courses (I specifically told her that this was our appetizer and we wanted it out first). For our main courses, we ordered the fish and chips, the warm lobster roll, and the lobster philly cheesesteak. The fish and chips were delicious. The fish was light, flaky, and flavorful. The lobster philly cheesesteak was a good surprise. I was on the fence about seafood with cheese, however they complemented each other nicely. The meat was seasoned to perfection and cooked to beautifully. The fries that came with the fish and added onto the philly were the HIGHLIGHT of the meal! They were crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside, and the seasoning was on point. The warm lobster roll was just ok. The lobster was ice cold (the butter it came with to dip it in was cold too) and slightly overcooked. The roll was also lacking all flavor and seasoning. Sadly, during our time at Chickie's & Pete's we were not the only table that had these or similar issues. We watched 2 tables walk out before ordering as their wait time for drinks and/or to be greeted was pushing 20 minutes after being seated, other tables actively searching for servers, and heard several complaints from nearby tables about food quality. We got takeout since wait for a table was an hour, and with a LO it was late in the night for that. Wait time was 30min and we got pizza, salad, gumbo, and wings. We've always liked the wings and pizza. First time to have the gumbo and it was packed with huge shrimp. I'm not sure of the accuracy in gumbo flavor but it was tasty and held well as takeout, shrimp was not overcooked which there were probably 6 shrimp. I started with a blueberry virgin mojito that was good but was definitely missing something besides the alcohol and was slightly disappointing for $9 with no refills. I got a side salad which was quite good, very fresh with great ranch dressing and croutons. Lastly, for the main entree, I got the BBQ Burger and fries. The burger was great, the patty was juicy and perfectly cooked, the bun was delicious, but it could have had some more BBQ sauce. Honestly, the fries were slightly better and probably the star of the night. They were very well seasoned, crispy, and practically perfect. The venue is very nice and open with a lot of space between guests, and very nice large screens to watch the games while being conveniently located in the GSR. The tradeoff is it is a little expensive for what it is, you're paying a premium while on GSR property, but it does qualify for the locals 25% discount so be sure to have your GSR rewards card and your driver's license to get the discount before paying! read more

3-4 stars, gorgeous venue and good service, but very expensive even more so than expected, like I'm in Vegas. 11$ for small dish of sweet potato fries eeek. 12$ for bowl of clam chowder which wasn't as bad. Both were yummy. I read another review that said the clam chowder was one of the worst, I would have to disagree. Both me and hubs enjoyed it. I had some type of a blueberry lavender mint mocktail which had potential but was sooooo tart not in the good way, hubs had a basic ceasar salad add chicken that he said was 3 stars. Great sports watching can be had here. They DO carry a gluten free bun and I would come back here to try it. But definitely not the most kid friendly as they had no kids menu. Luckily my kids split a hamburger and they both absolutely loved this burger! Plus that cheese dip with the fries are everything!!! I hated the buffalo nachos! When you hear buffalo chicken nachos you think a buffalo chicken... not basic chicken with a small amount of buffalo sauce on the chips. Gross. The crab fries were delicious but got a little soggy. And the price of everything was definitely on the high side. $6 for a fountain soda??? Really? For me it I drink half a cup? Way steep. Pros: it was great to see a vegan menu that wasn't just a mushy garden burger. The portion sizes are big and the appetizers can easily be a meal. The crab fries were decent, but not enough crab to justify the price. Cons: I ordered the vegan veggie nachos; the concept was good but the execution failed. The chips were burnt to the point of being dark brown. I was shocked that the kitchen served them when it was obvious that the chips were torched. The server offered to replace it so that was a plus. It was strange that I had to ask for silverware after they brought the appetizer plates. It was also very pricey, but typical for a big casino. Popped in to grab a burger after a concert tonight. Four of us - restaurant was NOT busy. Not greeted initially, but sat quickly. Waitress gathered drink orders, helped with choices and was gone. Two other tables sat after us were mid way through their meal when 2 of the 4 entrees came out, delivered by someone else who mentioned there were two more entrees coming. We (WRONGLY) assumed momentarily. Those meals sat and got cold while we waited another 15-20 minutes before anything else arrived. By then I'd had to go and physically find a manager as trying to get his attention was impossible -- he was WAAAAY too busy chatting with the servers and laughing. Once our food did arrive he popped over to apologize but "could not turn back time." He also offered to remove those entrees from the bill if we did not want to eat them but if we did then he'd charge accordingly - and admitted that it was at the time that the 1st two entrees arrived at the table they realized they did not place all 4 orders with the kitchen - two were missed. But NO ONE told us this or gave us the option to eat together. Two entrees were removed from the bill - that was dropped at the table rudely. It was then grabbed to be rung up before we could even put a card in the folder. I mentioned this and it was dropped in front of me again. Once run the receipt was thrown back down - no apologies or thanks. And no one so much as refilled a water glass in the hour plus that we were there. Spoke to ERIC the manager on the way out - after he had to be brought out from the kitchen - clearly avoiding us and let him know that there were several opportunities to change our experience and each was missed. We were NOT given the local discount though it was mentioned when we were seated. I was headed out to just not return when the server so rudely dropped the check and I decided to bring it up to the manager who stated, "yeah - I've heard this (poor service) a lot lately but I guess there's just no making some people happy. Believe me - we were FAR FROM. $11 Sam Adams. $6 soda. $33 cheesesteak. $22 burger. We will not be back; won't bring our business events and will be sure to tell our friends how we were treated. We came here got the famous crab fries. They were crinkle cut fries with some crab seasoning, crab, and sauce on top. They were good but don't qualify for that expensive price. Because we ordered the crab fries, we went with the Philly cheesesteak nachos. I wish we would have went with the crab and corn nachos. We also tried the corn dip and that had too much bacon and feta cheese which overwhelmed the corn. The mushroom pizza was great. The clam chowder was on the thick side, but it was pretty good. Today my husband and I returned to Chickie and Pete's because of our positive experience last year. First of all, this restaurant was immaculate and there was no wait to be seated. We ordered the chicken club sandwich and the barbecue burger, both with fries. The food was filling but just ok. I had hoped to have the teriyaki burger from last year but learned it was no longer on the menu. The prices are high, too. 5.00 for a soda or iced tea. Fries are not included with your meal. Lunch for the two of us was 60.00!! Where Chickie and Pete's really shines is in the area of service. Our waitress, Nicci, was efficient and friendly. One of the best waitresses we have encountered! This is my 3rd visit to Chickie's & Pete's in Reno, and I've had a great experience each time. I've gone to Chickie's & Pete's in Philly so I've always known what to expect, and at the GSR this is one of the better restaurant options IMO. The service has always been great, and this last visit was no exception. Our server was quick to bring out water, get our drink orders, and the food also came out pretty quick after ordering. I came with my family and one thing to note is there is no kids menu, so expect to get a full entree for the kids. The other thing to note is any of the burgers, Cheesesteaks, etc. don't come with fries, so you will be ordering a large basket if you want fries. To me those are the 2 biggest sticking points for ordering, all the food I've tried here has been good. Th Cheeseburger is greasy and delicious, the salads have been good, and the Philly Cheesesteak is a staple you should try. I've never actually tried any seafood options at C&P's, just doesn't seem like the right location to get quality seafood. They have a good list of beers on tap, and a full bar so you can get whatever you need. Don't forget to use the locals discount if you are a local, it helps with the overall bill and makes the entire meal feel a little more affordable. Will be back on my next visit to GSR, especially when football season starts since there are so many TVs! read more

Service was great and the place had a huge wall tv grid. Good to watch sports for sure That's the good part. The food was over cooked... mussels and clams are for sure overcooked. They shrunk and become sticky to the inner shell. I know cuz i over cooked clams before. They need to be pulled out once they open...perhaps this place probably dump it all in a pan and put a cover over it and that was it. One more min and the shrimp would start shrinking even more. Only thing I order and I did finished it. But, its overcooked. I was here during spring break with my family. I was excited to try this restaurant but I was very unimpressed with the few items I got from here for a quick bite on April 14th. I love my seafood and based on those two dishes, I will not go back. The steamer clams were disappointing. I never had bad steamer clams ever until now. It didn't even come with bread to dip the broth and the broth has no flavor as well. I got 6 raw oysters and I can eat more but it was terrible. Glad that I didn't order a lot. My second oyster I ate was bad and I was afraid for the next one. We told them about the bad oyster I ate and they had someone from the kitchen tell me that they were all fresh and shucked just now. As if, my complaint wasn't legit. I understand that they can't tell just by looking at it that it's not good since I couldn't as well. I was just hungry and looking forward to trying this place. I wasn't even trying to get anything for free. I love oysters and yet again, this was my first experience with eating a bad oyster ever as well. There was nothing they did to try to please their customers or to even offer a discount at all. At least 10% off or something. But nothing. Just sorry. Or maybe one oyster to replace that bad one but I didn't even want to try any more after that anyways. I was afraid that I was going to get sick. Thankfully, I didn't. Next time I am back at GSR, I will avoid this restaurant at all cost. I'll have to look at other options. read more

Our visit to this Chickie's and Pete's was wonderful. The hostess was super informative and told us all about the specials. She made some recommendations and showed us how the drink menu was on one menu and then the food was on the other. The server Bailey was really sweet too. She took our order, repeated it back to us and brought everything out just as ordered. The drink took a little bit of extra time, but it was really tasty and although it was a little more than we were hoping to pay for a drink, it was very strong and tasted great. I finally made it to the new spot inside GSR, and overall--it was just okay. The front of the menu leans heavily into bar food with a seafood twist: crab pizza, fish tacos, lobster nachos, etc. The back of the menu has more traditional seafood options like boils, oysters, mussels, and lobster tails. We decided to stick with the safer bar bites with seafood add-ons. We ordered the lobster roll, calamari rings, and crab and street corn nachos. Surprisingly, the nachos were the star of the show. The sauce was unique--not your standard nacho cheese--and it worked well with the flavors. The lobster roll, however, was dry, and the lobster meat tasted like it had been sitting in the freezer. Big letdown. The calamari rings were just okay--crispy but nothing standout. The vibe is very much a sports bar scene with tons of TVs, a cute fireplace, and--this being GSR--plenty of slot machines and tables if you're seated near the front. Service was fine; no complaints but nothing particularly memorable either. If I'm back at GSR and feeling hungry, I'd consider coming back for the nachos or maybe trying the lobster pizza, but it's not a place I'm rushing to return to. read more

On a quick trip to Reno, we have dinner at this location. We somehow walked right by the hostess stand and was just waiting near the sign. The hostess got our attention and we were seated quickly. I asked can we sit closer to this lit fire, nice to look at but didn't function as a heater, very cute. We ordered the snow crab and Seafood Pasta. The snow crab was a little salty but pretty good. The pasta was AMAZING!!! I can't stop thinking about how yummy the flavor and quality was. We opted for drinks at the other bar instead of the restaurant due to the Estetic at the other bar instead the middle of the Casino. I will be returning for sure. read more

The calamari was good, but the lemon garlic aioli was WAAAAY TOO SALTY!! And the cocktail sauce had too much horseradish for me. BBQ Chicken pizza was good, a bit heavy on the sauce. Cobb salad was excellent with a sub of blue cheese dressing for the Green Goddess. Service was excellent, so there's that! read more
