Service great & friendly! Smells amazing. Food delicious drove from Yonkers to have it again!

Chicken + lamb gyro

1/1 Service; 1/3 Food; 0/1 Value Halal cart is my definition of quintessential NYC food, and one of the first things I look for in any neighborhood. However, this turned out to be a miss, at least for the chicken and lamb gyro ($9) and onion rings ($6). While the chicken and lamb is well-seasoned and really flavorful, there wasn't a whole lot of it, particularly the lamb. The pita, lettuce and single tomato slice were not that fresh. The most disappointing were the onion rings unfortunately. The portion was small relative to the price from a food truck, and the onion rings themselves were batter and breading with onion flavoring rather than a slice of onion coated in batter. I didn't have a single onion slice in any of the onion rings. I can't say that either the quality or quantity of the food ultimately justified the price from this cart.

Chicken and Lamb Over Rice

This is my go to halal truck located in the bronx. After a night out bar hopping, this is my last stop before heading home. The chicken and lamb over rice did not disappoint. The portions are huge and the white sauce had great flavor. Warning the hot sauce is not joke. They have hot sandwiches as well. Can't wait to go back!! Food score - 8.5

Chicken Kebab Over Rice

Condescending front window server/cashier. They also put a bunch of toppings on the platter without writing them in the product description nor mentioning it on the phone (such as purple cabbage, olives, etc.) when ordering. I did pickup and paid $19 cash for Chicken Kebab over rice with Mixed over rice. The chicken kebab had the worse of the toppings. If they allowed the opportunity for you to ask them which toppings to hold off on, & the cashier had better demeanor, I would give 4 to 5 stars. Basmati rice is great quality. They can do a lot better especially with their spot.

This is a UPDATE!!!!! I went back to Chicken vs lamb for lunch to other day and I order the gyro. SAME 5 stars as the platters. It slaps either way!! They just know halal food and I'm grateful. I need them to get cucumbers on the truck pls!!! I need them with my falafel that I haven't ordered yet . I had no idea they were out there all night!!!! This is heaven sent. Keep up the good job guys!

Walked by this place several times and always wondered was the food good. Received several recommendations to eat here. I was not disappointed. The food was really good. Usually when I pass by the lines are really long. A good sign that the food is good. Came by today and it was empty. Was able to place my order and get it quickly. Food was really good. Food was fresh and the drinks were cold. Would eat here again.

Yum! Chicken and lamb with extra extra sauce!

The owner of this cart, Mohammed, is very nice. He said in the winter he has his cart out from 7am to 7pm, in the summer till 9pm. I must admit I'm a fan of the halal guys in the city, but this is much better and closer! This cart has a bigger portion of meat, and the meat is in big chucks. Also the rice is tastier, not dry like the others. The salad has fresh lettuce, tomato, and bell pepper. I love my white sauce and this sauce is creamy and yum! Can't go wrong for a $6.00 deal. Thanks yelpers for another great meal, Enjoy.

Best Halal food truck in the NYC. Their chicken over rice is amazing. And the lamb gyro blew my mind. I highly highly recommend it.

Our group of six ended up having a little bit of everything from sausage dip and pepper dip to Albanian dumplings to the Mix Grill Platter, and everything that we ordered was delicious. I don't think that we were able to finish everything, and we ended up taking some stuff home. However, it truly felt authentic and It felt real. We also paired that with some Albanian wine, which was delicious as well. it was a very homey location for people to come try some new food and have a hilarious and great time. I'd also be remiss if I don't call out that the bread that they gave was delicious, so light, so airy and that we were begging for more after the first round. They pair so well with the dips that we got and trust that I'll be back for more of that alongside the entire menu.

It was my first Albanian dining experience - the restaurant seemed traditionally set up with Albanian decor and (what I'd imagine) music. It was quite easy to get a table for evening dinner though they do take reservations. They have a large dining room in back with numerous tables and decor hung up. The staff were warm, welcoming and quite attentive throughout the meal and helpful for recommendations. The menu offers nice descriptions of dishes and of cultural significance for certain ones as well. I started off with a yogurt dish and bread - the bread seemed fresh out of the oven in being hot and steamy when cracked, revealing a soft interior. The yogurt was light and refreshing and helped balance spices in the mains. For starter I got the Fli- a multilayered pancake slice with layers of crepe that was primarily buttery. It didn't have a strong taste but went nice with yogurt. For the main I got the skenderberg - veal filet mignon stuffed with cheese, a crispy potato exterior wrap and covered in cream paired with potatoes and sliced peppers. This dish was excellent and very filling with strong flavors - tender, juicy meat, creamy hot cheese and cooler vegetables to balance the hot temperature and strong flavors. I was so full I deferred dessert though they have a few options. Overall a great meal with a large menu and great dining experience, I would definitely return! They have a location in Manhattan I haven't checked out, but per the staff that location is basically identical in menu but more expensive.

Well not only was the pepper shrimp spicy but it was the best I've ever had. The shrimp was so big plumped and juicy. I didn't expect it to be nicely coated with such delicious flavor. My mouth is still watering as I write this review. I paid a little over $17, but it didn't bother me because it was fresh shrimp and veggies and of the amount of food I received was a lot. I mean they could have threw in a free small beverage to go along with it, but I wasn't mad, because this is NYC. I've paid higher prices for food that had less amounts and not even worth the price, but anyway I digress. The restaurant is quite small but big enough for you to stay and dine if you wanted. Along with great customer service, and delicious food a girl couldn't ask for anything more. Not to mention they were playing music to bop your head along with. I don't know if I would return for anything else on the menu right away because I would be hooked to buying the pepper shrimp again. When I get past that I would try something else. Overall, my meal was five stars but since I've only had one amazing item, and I don't know yet If it would be consistent , Im giving them four stars. I think they are worth visiting. Thumbs up and Happy Yelping!

It's a family-owned, halal establishment known for generous portions, and it has been a community staple for over 25 years. I heard about Carifesta on social media and wanted to check it out. My daughter and I drove from Connecticut to try the food. When we arrived, the staff told me there would be a 45-minute wait. No problem. We ordered the Guyanese Chicken with Lo Mein, Jerk Chicken Sliders, and the Guyanese Fried Chicken. The Guyanese Fried Chicken was very flavorful but overfried. The chicken had a bone, and as I ate, it fell apart, which told me it was overfried. Next, I tried the Chicken with Lo Mein, and the noodles were overcooked and lacked flavor. The chicken was good and tasted like baked chicken. It had good flavor, but it wasn't out of this world. My daughter had the Jerk Chicken Sliders, and she said they were okay. She said she tasted the Jerk flavor, but the chicken lacked flavor. I'm not sure if they were having an off day, but if I'm in the area, I would give them another tryout.

Nonetheless, we walked in and there are tables and chairs and the hot foods are displayed behind glass. We got a goat curry large for $16 with a large plate of white rice which was $1. The goat curry was pretty good and hit the spice profile with it not too spicy. The curry had a good portion of meat and not all bones which was great. We really enjoyed this dish. We also got a small okra for $4 and that too was really tasty and not runny. My son got the chicken briyani for $10 and while it looked so good behind the glass, the taste was just average as the texture is a bit off. The staff asked if we wanted heated up our foods as he said it was just room temperature. Surprised it wouldn't be kept hot in the first place but anyway we said yes and he microwaved for a few which I'm glad we made that choice. Also got a mango lassi drink and we got some Indian sweet treats which he gave to us on the house so that was nice. All in all, it exceeded our initial expectation and would give this place high 3 stars.

I ordered at the counter and after 30 mins I checked and seems like my order had not been passed on, so I ordered again and this time food only took 10 mins to arrive. Naan was great. Chicken tikka masala was a bit oiler than I'm used to. They didn't have any plain rice available as a side order for the curry, so they suggested the Friday special rice which was chicken and chickpeas and ginger etc, unfortunately this had definitely been sitting a while and rice was pretty mushy. The staff were pretty friendly, and I liked how the dining area was decorated. $22 for the two dishes and naan (plenty of leftovers that i took home although not sure how well the rice will be tomorrow)
