My husband and I came here after reading some good reviews and seeing the chain several places around Michigan. We aren't from MI so we're curious to understand the craze behind the shack. This used to be fantastic, but now it really is terrible. And you certainly cannot post the truth on their Facebook page because all they do is delete any negative comments and ban you from commenting on them. So they have slowly been declining for awhile, but took a huge nosedive in the past year. They used to make their tender bites on site with a nice batter. Now, they are shipped out to the stores pre-prepared and it is nothing like they used to be. I enjoy the chicken nuggets from McDonalds more and they cost far less. The prices are absurd for the poor quality you get now. The tender bites are just frozen junk, they even changed how they do their signature broasted potatoes and a lot of them are actually gray in color, ver unappetizing. They are trying to expand outside of Michigan, but since they have drastically lowered their quality, why bother? Don't waste your time and money on what they have become. read more

I'm giving Chicken Shack GPW 2 stars only because the chicken was good. I ordered online and my order was to be ready at 5:45 . When I arrived there were two people in the store. Sign on door allowed 5. There was one lady at register and they could not find her order. Another person walked in. The scenario went on. Then a young man walked in with a Chicken Shack bag. Behind the counter they immediately asked him and he said he received wrong order. The one counter guy kept going In the back bringing out more and more orders. I told the girl behind me I had ordered online, she had too. They finally decided they had to remake the the young mans wrong order and the first ladies missing order. Everyone went in the back. Meantime the counter guy kept bringing out completed orders. Finally I yelled Hey! Because the music was so loud you could barely hear. I told him I had an online order I just need to pick up! The young lady asked my name and grabbed my order. Leaving there where 10 people in line outside. Ineptitude at its finest. Total disregard for customers waiting and the growing line outside. I got the feeling the counter guy was new, but if so the trainer or manager should have stayed with him. There were at least 5 or 6 people in the back cooking. All the counters were full of completed orders. The counter guy or the other person never asked if anyone was there to pick up an order. It just reminded me why I don't order from there more often, every time, the counter service is badly managed. read more

Chicken shack is amazing. Idk how I forgot about this place. As soon as you put the bag in the car it's like the best air freshener. But I'm sure it would make you hungry. Anyways the catfish is awesome as well as the chicken. But beware you can only get your fish fried that's all not braised or baked here, something about regulations. But the potatoes are amazing and they have green beans now too! It's awesome. The prices are super fair and the staff is nice and helpful. Love it! Always a go to spot! read more

My coworker and i loved this location a few years ago. Let me to the real. Chicken wing ding dinner. First rhe young man with his mask down whistling while he is cooking. Employees are friendly and the place is clean. I got the #1 lunch special for $6. It's a breast, wing, roll, potatoes (I substituted & got the onion rings), and a beverage. Everything was good. It's not the best fried chicken, but definitely not the worst. I prefer mine with more coating, but it's crispy and not greasy here. I would eat here again for sure. read more

I waited over 45 minutes for my food, then I received my bag with the boxes turned sideways which caused all the butter to spill to the bottom of the bag what an idiot then when I complained to the cashier she said well I didn't bag it, another idiot, I asked for more butter then the idiot said we are out of butter which was a lie. Ordered two buckets of chicken and a slab of ribs. The slab of ribs was so small that it fit on one half plate! Really $24 for a whole slab of ribs that may of fed one child. And the ribs were completely over done and dry. The chicken pieces were so small you might get two bites from a chicken leg and one from the chicken thigh. The Chicken and Ribs is AWESOME! The food is 5 star. The STAFF is 1 star. Twice now I have called in an order, showed up and paid. Told it was not ready and had to wait. News Years Day we had a spectacularly bad meal as a carry out from the grosse pointe woods location. My chicken tenders were chicken jerky, so tough and dried out that I threw them away. Couldn't eat any of the chicken in the meal. My wife's chicken dinner was also terrible, dried out and tough. Unfortunately this was the worst meal I have had in quite awhile. I ordered a 12 piece chicken with 2 sides. My chicken was raw and bloody when I bit into it. I called and spoke to a manager who then tried to convince me I bit a blood vessel that bled out. I explained that's not correct it was still raw on the inside and I have a picture of the raw bloody chicken. She should have just apologized and been more understanding. I bet she wouldn't want to feed her family raw bloody chicken not to mention it was dinner and my family had to eat sandwiches instead after I spent 23.00 on dinner. On Sunday May 8, 2016, Mothers Day, I ordered chicken, ribs and tender bites at 9:29 am for pick up at 6:00 pm that same day. Getting it home we found that everything was dry and tasteless. I have been getting orders from Chicken Shack GPW for 20 years and this is the worse meal I have ever had from there. I called to complain and the shift manager said that I should have called that same day. Would that have made a terrible meal any better? Didn't seem to be concerned about my dissatisfaction with the product only on when I called to complain. It will be the last thing I ever order from Chicken Shack any where.. I know that my occasional order or lack thereof isn't going to put them out of business or hurt their bottom line but I am sure I am not the first to say this.
