    dried out, garbage french fries

New ownership with the same old low quality with higher prices. I gave it another chance after many years. Ordered the basic chicken fingers with french fries. $14.35 is a bit steep but whatever. The chicken was fine but the fried were disgusting. Flavorless chewy cardboard like in texture. They were seasoned with something in an attempt to make them seem better. Horrible. In the garbage. Never again

1/4 chicken (delicious) with mashed potatoes (meh) and mac-n-cheese (meh)

Great chicken spot. Came here for dinner on a weekday and found ample seating available. Ordered the 1/4 Chicken Meal which comes with a side. I added a second side and got the Mashed Potatoes and Mac-N-Cheese. The chicken was pretty good, juicy and flavorful. The sides on the otherhand were pretty whatever. The chicken made the visit worth it though.

Fried Chicken Tenders Meal with Pita

I paid $15 for this "value" meal. I used to come here years ago and would be stuffed. The chicken tenders were kid sized. I'm never going back.

I live right across the street from Chicken Shack and I tried them on a whim recently. They specialize in all kinds of meat and seem to use charcoal broiling as their main mode of cooking. I've only tried their broiled half chicken so far and the smokey flavor is so delicious. The chicken meal comes with pita bread that also absorbs the charcoal and chicken flavor. Their fries are nothing special so I recommend opting for another side. I think the one problem with Chicken Shack is that it can be hit or miss. Depending the day, your order can either taste amazing or just be okay. Within a weeks time, my experience with them went from incredible to mediocre. Funny enough, the incredible experience was ordering delivery from them! They definitely have the potential to be great if they maintain their quality and the freshness of their food consistently. They'll probably remain as a go-to for me for take out.

I would give no stars if I could. First time here and ordered the 1/4 chicken meal. It was dry and full of bones. You can see in the picture my chicken came with a full rib cage. The sides were equally bad. The mashed potatoes were mealy and the mac and cheese was wet and flavorless. We got the meal to go and ended up throwing out most of it. When I called to ask for a refund, the manager said they have the right to give us whatever pieces they want. When I told him I didn't live close by, he said my only option was to drive back so he can look at it then decide what to do. He then hung up on me. Overall it was a trash experience, from the food to the customer service. Go to Caravan Chicken 2 blocks away.

Why didnt anybody tell him to put a mask on.

I dont doing everything everybody else is doing! But when i have to sign papers to sit down to eat any body waiting should have to do the same. The when i confronted the cashier she looked at me like if she her self was not wearing a mask

    Ribs value meal

$11 for 1/2 ribs value meal is a disgrace. It comes with 1/2 ribs, two pita breads, and one side. The amount of ribs are so few and the ribs are not juicy but dry. Disappointment! If you go to Chicken Lovers in Bayside you will get bigger and tastier ribs for the price of $10 for 1/2 ribs with two sides and a soda.

    Chicken Breast & Orzo

I hope this place withstands the curse of this corner location & bleak block. It seems like every business that's opened here has closed in less than a year. It's a nice addition to Broadway & I was happy with my grilled chicken breast & orzo (with feta & chopped peppers mixed in). However it was a bit salty, as it seems like the usual with chicken spots. The food was satisfying, but a kind of empty fullness that you would get with eating fast food. It seems like the owner knows everyone in the neighborhood & the place was busy with delivery orders & a few tables. I may be interested in trying their other dishes, but also have to be okay with non-organic or non-halal tasting chicken.

Sweet Afton is a hip Irish-style pub known for its craft cocktails, extensive beer selection, and upscale pub fare. It has a cozy interior with exposed brick and a sought-after outdoor garden area that is enclosed in the winter.  A few of their menu items include "Astoria's best burger" (using Pat LaFrieda beef), the Dirty Pickle Martini (featuring McClure's pickle juice), and beer-battered fried pickles. I learned that they have a sister pub called the Bonnie in Ditmars, which I have been to and had a great time. Last Saturday I came back for a third time. I was surprised at how things had changed; much more laid-back, with good customer service, good vibes, and one of the most delicious bar burgers I have ever eaten, with a side salad, in any pub or establishment in Queens. Furthermore, Sweet Afron had some nice alternatives to bear and larger, and I selected a cider instead. First, I was offered a sip, and then, upon my approval, a full glass of cider. In conclusion, I do plan to return!

Amid all the splendor and hedonism of the world of consumption, 7th Street Burger. I've been to many 7th Street Burger locations and this one is on the larger and more polished end of the spectrum. I'm a big fan of the jalapeño double cheeseburger, prepared (smartly) with sliced fresh jalapeños (as opposed to icky pickled jalaps). I prefer it without the sauce, but to each their own. One thing that makes 7th Street Burger so compelling in that they offer vegan burgers which taste just like the real thing. It's truly an impressive culinary feat, in addition to being a sane and sensible option both for non-meat eaters and customers simply seeking a healthier burger. I've eaten here several times but, in the interest of full disclosure, I did recently get a free meal as part of a Yelp event. Try out the new mobile app if you prefer to order ahead and earn some rewards as well. I recommend taking your order down the street to Judy & Punch where you can get a refreshing adult beverage to wash down your meal on the back patio. Summer is coming.

What to make of this place?…read more When we visited in September (at that time), a wanna-be sports bar had just taken over the Greek taverna Blue Sea Taverna (before that, two iterations of Akrotiri). Both Greek tavernas had failed or gone out of business. So we were curious to see what changes had been made. When we entered, we were initially confused because the seating, especially the lounge seating, did not create a sports bar vibe. Even adding a bunch of TVs did not give us that feel either. Instead, our initial impression was that they were trying to convert an old Greek taverna into a gastropub, similar to other well-known ones in the area. And I should also add we had not been following the local news about the controversy regarding their name association with a World War II fortified bunker that was blown up at the end of the Second World War, and only read about the controversy over their name after we left, and on social media. Apparently, the owner(s) were most likely unaware of its historical context when naming their establishment. So we did not factor that into this review. Upon entering the Wolf's Lair, the seating was that of a modified Mediterranean restaurant. We chose the comfy seating looking out towards 29th Street and 30th Avenue. It had been raining heavily, and so we were just glad to be inside. Because our initial impression was that we were in a Mediterranean gastropub, we ordered lamb chops with lemon potatoes. The waiter, who may have been one of the owners, informed us that this vegetable was not on the menu; however, when our chops arrived, as you can see from the photos, we were indeed served lemon potatoes. We got what we ordered, which made us happy, and the chops were cooked to perfection. As we usually do not drink alcohol, beverages were not factored into our review. However, there was one thing we found a little strange and creepy. When we left, one of the employees, presumably an owner, insisted on coming out to help take photos. This was a little off-putting. Nevertheless, we got some good shots. In writing this review, we spent a lot of time deliberating our experience at the Wolf's Lair. We focused on the restaurant, service, food quality, and atmosphere. While the overall experience was excellent, we did not find Wolf's Lair to have a sports-bar atmosphere, but rather a family-dining atmosphere. On the day we visited, there was hardly any action at the bar, and most of us seated were into the food, if nothing else, with one family having a birthday party for one of their children. Overall, we had a good experience. Whether we come back to see if the Wolf's Lair becomes an actual sports bar, well, that's another matter.

While deciding where to go one day, this was suggested and im so glad I went. The restaurant is cozy with tables inside the main dining room and in an enclosed outdoor seating area. Im guessing it opens in the summer. I sat down with my niece while waiting for my sister and for a good 5-7 minutes, no one stopped by and gave a menu nor offered water. Finally after about 3 people walked by not saying anything, someone came. The area is not that big and 7 minutes isnt that long but to sit there any not be addressed by all the staff walking by was annoying. Finally my sister came and we were offered water and a menu. After hearing about the specials and asking for recommendations, we settled on the gnocchi (housemade potato gnocchi, burrata, peas, pesto sauce, toasted pine nuts), Pappardelle alla Bolognese (housemade ribbon pasta, meat sauce), and side of sautéed spinach. The food arrived and we were pleasantly delightful by the main. The gnocchi was so soft and creamy, the sauce was delicious. Im not a fan of gnocchi but this was so good. The papardelle was my meal and it was also so good. There was a lot of pasta and a good amount of meat sauce. It was also delicious. The spinach on the other hand was bland. It has no flavor and we had to add some salt. A few times we tried to call someone over to our table but felt like no one was paying attention. When we were done with our meals, my sister had a few pieces of gnocchi left. She asked for a box as it was to be my nieces lunch for tomorrow. I then said, can you also box up the spinach. A few minutes later, the server dropped off a bag with one container and said here's the spinach. We tried to call his attention but he was already walking away. Where was the gnocchi. Finally when we came back, we asked about it and he said oh I thought it was garbage. I said no we asked for it to be boxed. He said let me talk to the kitchen. He came back and said sorry, they cant do anything but one dessert will be on me. I guess thats fine but we more wanted the food for the baby. For dessert we ordered a tiramisu and pistachio gelato. The tiramisu was in a jar as opposed to a cake slice. One bite of the ice cream and I knew it was bad. It was grainy and sandy texture. I looked up why that would be and one reason stated it could be improper storage, like it was unfrozen or melted then refrozen. I wasn't chancing that. I told the server and said I couldn't eat it. He offered another dessert but I said know, then offered a limoncello shot. While I appreciate the offer, we weren't drinking before so that wasn't the best option to offer. I just said im fine without a replacement. When we got the bill, the dessert was taken off like he said he would. We paid and left. Overall the main course/pasta meals were delicious. The sides and desserts could use work. Service was alright. Id definitely come back for the food and to try some of the pizza.

I hate to say it but as good as the steak was, the roasted potatoes was the star of show. The potatoes were amazing. Pappardelle alla Bolognese- housemade ribbon pasta, meat sauce.
