This week my office held our Christmas party and we decided it was the perfect opportunity to try The Chicken Shack. We arrived early with gifts in hand, and ready for some delicious food, fun fellowship, and a good time. The expectation was somehow exceeded, as our group of 13 had plenty of room to spread out. The wait staff was very attentive and explained the special so well that I couldn't resist. I ordered the loaded baked potato with tri-tips and it was probably the best potato I've ever had. We went once a long time ago & gave it another try. What a mistake. The memories of the first visit came right back. Expensive and definitely NOT worth it. Had to ASK for water. The food came out after awhile (and several loud barks from a dog in the HUGE section of the restaurant). Food? Hardly any for what we paid for. Did we get refills on out water? Worst service ever from Shay. She acted annoyed that we were even there, not pleasant at all. We ordered a tequila sunrise & one of the daily specials. Out of daily specials & didn't know how to make a tequila sunrise. Out of all sides except for coleslaw & French fries (which were served cold). my order came out & my wife's came later. Shay never came back to the table except to give us the bill, then was irritated because she had to go print the receipt. Made a trip out to the new spot in Arcadia to place an order to go. First, I appreciate the outdoor area with lots of seating, basketball court, corn hole, and kids play area. Fun spot to just hang out with family and friends. The inside seating area looked spacious, too. Now, the area to place an order to go could use some attention. I had to ring the bell several times before someone took my order and then several times again when I came to pick up my order. I tried calling ahead but no one answered the call. So there's room to grow in this area of customer service. Next, my food was delicious! Chicken, potatoes and spicy Mac (all pictured) is definitely a good choice! 4 stars only because of the service. They tried to serve us FOUR lukewarm chickens back to back and lied to us telling it was straight out of the fryer. Brought old cold chicken less than 2 minutes after we ordered it and swore it was fresh and made to order. Nice BIG new location! Still working on some things to come. Was slow today but by the time we were leaving lots of business. They have the first part you walk into Air Conditioning. 6 Booths, 8 Big Tables with room for more. Kinda boring area but walk into bar area and you get a whole different vibe. Part gravel floor (not sure the thinking of this) and other is nice flooring. Stage at one end and bigo fans on sides. Long long bar that's very inviting. Looks like there may be an upstairs balcony for music night. Will be great when it cools off. Food seems alittle different than the other location, maybe different cook. We ordered whole chicken with wedges and slaw. A 3 piece chicken strips with baked beans. Pretty good, chicken could use little more seasoning ! Sides are really small with a whole chicken. This is a fun place to go if you're looking for a casual, small-town experience. The ambiance is wonderful - cozy, inviting, and encourages you to relax and play. The food is good! Great chicken wings with a variety of sauces. The food and service aren't always fast and you don't eat off of real plates so don't plan on this being a fine dining experience. This is family-friendly, with a playground and a huge area to explore - tug of war rope, rocks to climb on, tons of outdoor seating with magical twinkly lights and fire pits when it's cool. Live music. The inside is great too - huge open space with more twinkle lights and a stage for music and a pool table inside. Our only issue was the wait time from when we sat down, ordered, received our food and then wanted to try and order something else and had to go hunting for a waiter. Our initial waitress said that they had food runners and that food maybe took 15-20mins top to receive after placing an order. We spent over 45 mins waiting on bottomless catfish. July 8, 2025. Party of 6. Ordered the Family meal, chicken, coleslaw, beans. Food was good, mostly. The problem was that we were not given plates. When we asked the server where the plates were, she said, as she pointed to our paper placemats, "those are the plates." We were expected to eat coleslaw and beans on a paper placemats. I kid you not. I glanced into the kitchen (by the bathroom) and I saw nobody in the kitchen. Nobody there. Nobody washing dishes, Nobody doing kitchen work. Staffing problem??? It is not ok to expect customers to pay for an $85 family meal and not supply eating utensils. Nothing about expecting customers to eat off a paper placemats is ok. We will not go back. I love the Chicken Shack's atmosphere very festive fun, and then the bands playing he can't help but want to get up and dance. There were 4 in our group,we ordered two fried chickens, okra, coleslaw, potato wedges, and chicken gravy. The fried chicken was moist, juicy and very tasty. Everything is fried, but menu suggests otherwise. Something between a braised and grilled? No. Fried. Popeye's has better fried chicken. Tasted almost gamey. Breast was dry. Looking for some good fried chicken, we decided to venture out a bit east of Edmond to Arcadia and the Chicken Shack. The ambience of the place is pretty cool, resembling that of a Texas BBQ joint or dance hall honestly. Old school wood burning stove in the dining room was nice since it was pretty cold outside when we visited on an early Wednesday evening. It is a good family friendly 'country' atmosphere. There were 5 in our party and we were seated quickly and drink orders were taken. Our server was super nice and attentive. No issues with service as per some of the other reviews. The drinks were super reasonable and came out quickly. We had a bucket of beer and waters. They do have a full bar, although their wine selection is very limited to only the sweet varieties. For dinner a couple of us ordered the 1/2 Bird and side, plus a couple additional sides. There was also an order of chicken tenders, and my wife ordered the crab legs (only on Wed and Sat). Lastly, on this particular day, they had 30 wings for $20 bucks (includes up to 2 tossed sauces or 4 for naked wings) - which is a super deal. The 1/2 Bird chicken was awesome. 1 drumstick, wing, thigh and breast. Their brine is SUPER tasty and the coating is light and crispy. This chicken is up there with the best I've had. Cooked just right and super juicy but not greasy. The chicken tenders were equally good. My wife's 1lb. of crab legs was good, but she noted that next time she'd just have the chicken since it was the star of the night. For sides we had Fries, Green Beans, Mashed potatoes and gravy, Fried Okra and a couple extra gravies - since they were so good. The sides are not very large for $3.95/ea (for the extra ones), but still worth it. Lastly, the chicken wings. We ordered them naked with the sauces on the side. They were good size wings, both flats and drummies and cooked nicely. My only complaint about the wings would be that they were not seasoned at all. Probably not brined beforehand either. So they would have been tastier if they had been tossed in a little season salt or similar. They were good, but would have been awesome if they were coated and cooked the same as the rest of the chicken. All in all - 5 stars. We will be back soon! read more

If you enjoy Eischens but can't get over to Okarche then this should be your go to for an old school breaded unhealthy ish chicken source. Not saying it's the same but it's the closest thing nearby for sure. Our server was polite and attentive but maybe a little bit timid in demeanor making him seem a bit stand-offish but he got the job done in a timely manner which the food came out quicker than expected and we needed to let the larger pieces cool for a bit before eating. I will say if there is any suggestion on my part it is that some verbal warning on the beans spice wouldn't hurt. I still would have ordered them but I would have been more prepared. Worst service seen. Sat down with another couple and all ordered at same time. The other couple got their order and ate while we waited 40 minutes to be served luke warm chicken. When we ask to see manager server said she was the manager,then asked for owners name and she refused then another server came over and said she was a manager. I was out of the city doing some research and got hungry so I popped open the trusty Yelp app and started looking. We decided on trying the chicken shack. When we pull up there is a ton of motorcycles which I love so I was excited. When went inside and it said to seat ourselves so we found a table we like and sat down. There was my wife, myself and my service dog Lucy. So we sat there for probably 10 minutes until what I am guessing was the manager told me I needed to move outside because they don't let dogs inside. Now if Luci wasn't wearing her vest and stuff I can perfectly understand, however she was swearing her bright pink vest clearly labeled service dog. She had an all of her required paperwork on her and her ID card clearly showing. So I'm not sure why but we were forced to move or leave. I probably should have left but I didn't know the area and where another food place might be (turns out pops was right down the road). Anyway we go in and the manager guy did bring Luci some water which she just stared at. My wife and I ordered the 3 piece meal with one side. I got green beans and she got Mac and cheese. The chicken was ok. It had a light batter so it wasn't all breading and no chicken and the green beans were pretty good. The Mac and cheese not so good. It was like someone boiled elbow noodles and this tossed them in a cheese flavor packet. It was super dry and sucked all the moisture out of your mouth. All in all the food was ok but you get an automatic 1 star when you tell me I HAVE to sit somewhere I don't want. I also think you should reimburse me for my time and expense because Luci had to take a bath because she was covered in dirt and dust from the gravel floor. The Chicken Shack is my current favorite place to eat. Let's start with the food... OMFG SO F'N GOOD! The fried chicken rivals the world famous Eischens. It's hot, fresh, and oh so delicious. The sides are massive and also insanely delicious. The fried okra is my personal favorite but the French Fries, baked beans, and Mac n Cheese are also great. Now for atmosphere... it's really cool! I LOVE The Chicken Shack. It is such a fun, family friendly, and country style of a place. The chicken is delicious. Don't come at me but I think they're better than the popular fried chicken places like Eishens, Half-time, Chicken Foot, and the Drum Room. They're located out in Arcadia. It's a huge place and you can sit indoor or outdoor. They have live music on the weekend and a huge playground for kids in the back. Their restroom is huge compared to the old location. So many stalls and places to wash your hands. The bar is huge and you can sit there too if desired. Their section of beer is pretty impressive. Ordering will take a long time because they said they're working on getting new staffs and especially on the weekend when they're full, it will take hours to get your food. If the weather is nice it is not a bad wait. I haven't been to the new location during the winter but I hope they get some of the outdoors heater. During the summer they have fans and the water misting hoses which helps keep you cool. My personal favorite is the whole fried chicken, a pound of gizzards, fried okra, and fries. Their onion rings, cole slaw, and potato salad were not my favorite. They also have a bunch of dipping sauce you can order and try. On Wednesday there is crab legs. In addition they also have tenders, wings, and ribs which I have not tried. This is such a fun place to eat and so fun for a big group. Bring your whole family and your kids. I gave them 2 stars for the chicken. That's really it. The chicken was good. Everything else.... was awful. I can appreciate a sauce with a little spice like the sriracha one, but not if I can't get my glass refilled. Our service was awful. We also tried the shrimp and crab. Cause why not? It sounded amazing. However for $25/lb for each, I expected to have crab crackers and purged shrimp. I didn't expect to try to be opening crab legs with the plastic utensils or having to send a server on a wild goose chase for what might be the only real fork in the building. One of us ordered the shrimp as a meal with a side, but quickly lost appetite upon realizing they were not purged. I feel like we must have been in a to go, twilight zone hell. She was upset that we were splitting the bill because then she had to take multiple cards. I have not been in 3 years. I flew past the place ( be careful because the speed drops to 45, had enforcement actually been in their vehicle I would have received a ticket!) Not in Luther anymore. We were in the banquet room/hall for lunch and it's too bad they opened the garage door to the back with 91-94 degrees, all it does is let in flies ( I guess for the "full country" experience it's perfect). They DESPERATELY!! need a seating chart, interrupted every 5-10 minutes shouting out names and wait staff had no idea what table the guests were at so everyone had to stop their conversations for interruptions the whole time. Orders also were placed ( back to the kitchen, or the kitchen was unorganized, haphazardly, 1st to order at the table got food last. I ordered 1/2 chicken and the light meat was in edible ( everyone's in my group) it was too salty. I was surprised (not in a good way) that Arcadia has a 33% liquor tax! A $6 beer turns into $8!
