I ordered a half a chicken and chose baked beans as a side. My husband ordered me heirloom chicken sandwich with fries. I've never been here before but we always passed by every time we go to Edmond. Today, we thought of giving this place a try. The place is huge and you can sit yourself anywhere. A waiter came to give us a menu and took our drink orders. At noon, the place had a lot of patrons but not crowded. From the time we ordered and gotten our order, it probably took 8 to 10 minutes. Th chicken was as very tasty with crunchy skin and hock I love! The baked beans I ordered as a side had a little kick to it because of the jalapeños but not enough to put a fire in my mouth. Love the flavor! My husband's chicken sandwich he ordered was huge! He chose a side of fries to go with that. He asked for cheese on it but the waiter said they don't have any cheese but condiments or lettuce and tomatoes if he wanted. Quite possibly the worst food and worst service I have received this year! My chicken was burnt to a crisp and in edible. I said something about it and they said we cook it on a timer. The other entrée was undercooked. They ask if I wanted white or brown gravy and brought me chicken gravy with my mashed potatoes and then said oh we don't have brown gravy anymore. I had to get up to get the missing items that I ordered because we saw our waiter a total of two times the hour and a half we were there waiting on our food and trying to get through and choke some of the food down because we were just hungry. The restaurant itself is filthy. the bathroom looks like a truck stop with toilet paper all over the floor holes in the walls and doors that won't shut. There is no toilet paper or hand towels in the bathroom. I guess we have to shake or drip dry. The table was so sticky. We asked the waiter to bring a wet towel over to wipe it off and that didn't help at all usually a wet towel means you have to put water on it. If I could give less than a one star review, I would. Don't waste your time or your money. It is way too expensive for the shit food that you get drive up to the next town. read more

It was an all-around good time great food, good music, and the service was phenomenal

Second visit, the food is good, but the service is sketchy at best. The wait staff seemed lost and confused. We had to try to flag someone down to get any kind of help, and no the main dining room was not that busy. The food was good and the service was ok. We had a party of 9. Of course when it comes time to pay they only have the little hand held machine and you see NO ticket. After I paid and left a tip on 2 different tickets and get home I see where I was charged an 18% large party charge which totaled 29.39. Was I told this NO. I would have NEVER left another tip if I had known. Even on the menu it says !8% added for large parties of 25 or more. So disgusted with this. Oh my god. I was traveling Route 66, and this is a place you can get your Route 66 passport stamped!!! We were sort of in a hurry so we got the cheesesticks to split. Oh MY GOD. Best cheese sticks I have ever had in my LIFE. I found out when I used the restroom that they brought us an extra order by accident and my family SENT IT BACK. I was devastated I would have eaten more. Please PLEASE get the cheese sticks. I hope to return to try more chicken dishes!!! read more

This not a fun review to expound on. I absolutely love Chicken Shack. I usually eat at the one in Arcadia. It's a nice drive and nice scenery. However, The last 2 times we've eaten there. We place our orders. Wait staff is always nice and friendly. Our Wairess today was no exception. Polite and eager to help. 0rdered our chicken. It came just a bit to quick. Looking at it. I could tell it was more than over cooked. Same as the last time we ate there. Being a Chef. I knew exactly what was done to get our order out. Like last time. We received our order in record time. It looked like a sacrificial offering to the fire gods. I commented to my friend this is the same thing they did to us last time. We waited for our waitress to come back by. She asked. "Is everything alright" I said I would like to express a concern. Yes, she replied. I told her. I would appreciate fresh cooked chicken not reheated chicken that had been just waiting for the next none food person to come along and they get rid of their left overs to them. If I come and pay your price for what we expect to be fresh cooked chicken. Then we should have fresh chicken every single time we come. I'm tired of restaurants serving people who DONT KNOW any better the left overs from earlier in the afternoon or even lunch at dinner time. I've also noticed the chickens have been smaller. You can order chickens by size and specification both. The chicken again today was reheated by dropping it back in the fryer to heat it back up. One thing I'm going to boldly say is Stop making your miss managed kitchen my problem. I pay full price. Cook the chicken fresh or give me a discount equal to the Chicken _ _ _ _ you're trying to serve me. Of course those who don't know will eat it and say nothing because they don't know to. However, no matter how successful you've been. You keep serving this crap to your customers and you won't be serving enough customers at some point to keep the doors open. I will be disappointed if your managers have been telling the cooks to reheated the chicken and serve it so there's no waste. That's way wrong especially since you obviously don't care about customer satisfaction. Don't give a lame watered down excuse that your people don't do this. I'll call BS immediately. I know better. I've been a Chef longer than probably anyone working in your restaurant. You cannot fool me. If you keep this up. You can count on me to go to other great chicken places for this style of chicken which if done right is second to none. If your going to hire young people to keep your ship afloat. Then get someone in there to watch and train them that knows what the heck they are doing. BTW, I've eaten at the CS on north Western and the one in Harrah. You don't have much leg to stand on those 2 places either. I'm not only sad that your staff does not care, or doesn't know the difference. But truly. You guys best get a grip on your wonderful staff. A well trained wait staffer would never have brought that chicken to our table. Now before you go there. No, we didn't finish the meal. The 15 feral cats we have out on the Ranch and horses. Love the chicken. Horses? Yes, bet you didn't know those animals can be Carnivors did you? I have talked to your restaurant manager the first time this happen. He wanted to pay for our meal. I flat refuse to let any manager anywhere buy me off with a free meal or desserts at no charge. He agreed the chicken was burnt last time. I cleared the very nice young lady of any guilt in this matter before she left the table. Told please do not send your manager over to my table. I'm expressing this concern to you because I love your concept and food. But, I will not tolerate it any more. Fix it right. Or tell me youre out of chicken like the girl told me youre out of Sweetpotato fries. I hope you'll look into this. Need help don't call Gordon R. I'll do it. There are two parts of the chicken shack, one is amazing and the other not as great. The shack is amazing, but the chicken is not as much. I love the shack. It is truly a huge and amazing place. The bar is amazing and there is even an upstair seating area when it's busy. The outside area is even better, spacious and beautiful. There was live music playing, but I am not sure if it's also available on weekdays or not. The shack was crowded on this particular Sunday afternoon. Most customers visit from nearby towns as Arcadia has a population of less than 200. The fried chicken was okay. Crispy and crunchy skin, yes, but it was too salty. The location in Luther, which is closed, also tasted the same. Some chicken pieces were not juicy, especially the breasts. Comparing Chicken Shack with Eischen's Bar is like comparing apples to oranges. It is a great looking restaurant/bar though. read more

Food/service terrible. Started by ordering icy mug of beer. There were only about 6 other tables in whole huge building. Beer sat on the bar for a good ten minutes because bartender couldn't walk it a few feet to our table and we finally had to wave down our waitress to get it. Our appetizer and entrees came out all at once , after a long wait. Appetizer cold! All you can eat catfish, 3 small peices. Sent back appetizer, ordered more fish Sat and waited and waited. Went there for a late lunch. Saw two other tables with people eating. The place was almost empty. It was very decorated very rustic inside. Got the gizzards and fries and broasted chicken with jalapeño cornbread. The gizzards are really, really good! The fries are crispy on the outside. If they would have been served hot, they would have been perfect. They were just warm. The broasted chicken was very flavorful! The jalapeño cornbread was disappointing. That's the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. I could see green slices in the cornbread, but not spicy and no pepper flavor at all. Why call it jalapeño cornbread if you can't taste the jalapeño at all? The bathroom needed some care. Service was nice and friendly. read more

What has happened to this place. Tried three times in the past few months hoping my experience was an anomaly. I guess they've just lost their fastball. Chicken is small and overcooked each time and everything has gotten so expensive. Love the place as a hang. Food has just gotten bad. I mean it's not that hard to cook fried chicken in a broaster. Stopped in at Chicken Shack again after hyping it up to the crew based on a killer visit last fall. Last time, the chicken was fire, the vibe was perfect, and it felt like one of those hidden gems you want to gatekeep a little. Not this round. Chicken came out looking rough--super dark, heavy burnt taste like the oil hadn't been changed in a minute. Cornbread was dry enough to qualify as a choking hazard. Definitely not what I remembered. BUT--the pork chop? Absolute redemption. And the bartender crushed it. Service was on point, which saved the whole thing from being a total bust. Still love the spot's quirky, dive-y charm. It's the kind of place made for a cold beer and live music. I'll be back eventually, hoping it was just an off night. read more

They have excellent chicken strips with gravy sauce, and their Mac-and-cheese is also stellar. A somewhat historic institution just off of the Historic Route 66 in Arcadia, OK, they have sit-down service and also take-out. I opted for the take out, and got their chicken strips meal (nice service) but had to wait for 15-20 minutes, which I spent checking out the nearby historic locales. There was a man selling peanut brittle who only took cash - which I didn't have one me- so I will bring physical currency next time to buy and sample his wares. There is also a related/associated "Pizza Shack" next door. Definitely recommended! read more

This is a huge venu with an awesome outdoor seating area. That gives it the 3 stars. The food is definitely 2 stars at the most. It took over 30 minutes for us to get our food after ordering and the sides were so sad. The chicken was okay, kinda dry with no flavor. The oakra was the best part. PSA!!! ***This is not the place to come if you are STARVING or in a HURRY. *** we sat outside to wait on our other guests, my sister lives 5 minutes away and raves about this place. we came around 6:30 pm and walked straight to the back outside near the band. I did not pay attention to the inside much, but the outside was pretty impressive. several fire pits, they sell smore kits! Several restrooms on site. I believe there is a bar outside if you dont want to wait on a server. Our server was pretty swamped and it was a little irritating that our regular drinks ran out. But it was a weekend. the band started late. which is fine. This place is great if you're meeting up with friends and just want to hang out with some good music, drink some drinks and eat some chicken. i got some wings and mashed potatoes. daughter got gizzards and okra. they were out of mac n cheese. it took a long time for the food to come to make sure you have drunks to occupy you. the hot sauce that i was given for my wings was cold- weird. the table next to us had about 6 adults, a dog and a couple kids. I felt sorry for the dog, one of the kids kept feeding the dog rocks. sitting on the dog. pulling on the dog and the poor thing just took it. ugh there were lots of children running around and parents oblivious of it. although that is not a reflection on the restaurant itself, just be aware of what you may encounter. read more

Food was bland and flavorless. My son went to the bathroom and said it was a mess and disgusting. Definitely not cleaned. Condiments were not filled. We had to find ketchup bottles at two different tables because the they were empty. Service was a bit slow for there being hardly anyone here. Food is just decent. You can honestly get better chicken elsewhere (RIP Chicken Foot). I also realize that the old furniture is supposed to be somewhat chic, but what you're actually getting is broken down garage sale and barn finds. We were given three different high chairs for our daughter, all of which were broken in various ways (ripped strap, legs falling apart, etc) before deciding to sit and eat our food with her in our laps. Chicken Shack is a running joke in our house, and the place we suggest when we're being playful and unserious. We honestly don't know why anyone goes here. Sorry to be so harsh. read more

i had never been here before and my family really likes it, so naturally i was quite excited! the vibe of the space is cool, it fits in with the rest of the town. very classic, a bit dark but i get it. our large party was seated with plenty of space, so that was nice. our server was polite and took our orders quickly, no problem in that regard. i'll try to keep this short: while our server was working hard to keep up with our large party, the system she was following, or lack thereof, failed her. no seat numbers and seemingly zero system for the food runners made her job so difficult, i felt terrible for her. my order came out wrong the first time and the runners forgot my side the second time. i had to ask for it multiple times. again, i don't think it's their fault, it's their system. this is a manager/owner issue. i got the spicy chicken sandwich and my wife got some tenders and sides. she really enjoyed hers! mine felt very uninspired and dry. granted, i know this place isn't known for its chicken sandwich but it felt like there was no effort to make it presentable. chicken was cooked well and had good flavor but a lack of sauce/toppings made it uninteresting and definitely not worth the price. would come back if my family was going, but wouldn't on my own. $0.95 for sauces is kinda wild too. place has lots of potential but if the service issue isn't fixed it will cause major issues. read more

A visit to my old stomping grounds led to the discovery of a new restaurant in what was in my youth a sleepy small town. The Chicken shack opened last July and offers an appropriate amount of nostalgia for the venue. Promising good yard bird we decided to change our dining plans and stop in. I ordered the 1/2 bird and side. My wife ventured to try the wings. What arrived at our table was not pretty to look at but then I didn't expect it to be Michelin star worthy. The chicken was well and properly cooked with a crispy and tasty skin. The chicken meat itself was good except the white meat was a little dry but I don't prefer white meat chicken. The dark meat was fine. The onion rings were nothing to write about but the potato wedges were delicious. The strawberry cake was nice and moist. All in all the food was adequate but not fantastic. It was good and homey though and worth eating. If you come to Arcadia hungry I suggest that you get your soda down the road but eat the chicken at the chicken shack. read more

It used to be such a good place and we used to go at least 2 times a month. So it saddens me to leave this review. Our last visit was marginal and we were hoping they were just having an off night. Went again last night to celebrate our granddaughters birthday. Service was non-existent. It wasn't busy and they acted as if it was a pain to do anything for us. The chicken pieces were tiny, and the sides were terrible. The Mac & cheese was like glue. We'll never go back. In the future we'll make the long drive to Eischen's when we want fried chicken in a kid friendly environment. read more

This place has a nice, down to earth vibe. If you are looking for a bar and live music they have a great area that accommodates several people. They have the entire area decorated with Christmas right now which my husband said reminded him of a hallmark movie. We were served quickly and checked on often.
