I came to this Chicken Express for a quick meal to have in my hotel room. This location is shared with a service station. At first it looks sketchy but the parking lot is clean and the place appears to be well maintained. The interior has a spacious dining area and is clean. I ordered three pieces of chicken and a 9-piece gizzards. They were out of dark meat chicken so I settled for white meat. It took a few minutes for them to cook up the gizzards and the staff is overall friendly. I brought the food back to my hotel room. The chicken stayed hot and the pieces were generous. The gizzards, however, were smaller pieces than what I have encountered at other Chicken Express locations. Overall I had a decent meal that meet expectations. In sum, this Chicken Express location is a good place to grab a fast food meal. read more

Love the spicy chicken strips!! Normally they're pretty fast at the drive-through (if you've been to Whataburger's drive through, you'll appreciate what I'm saying) and it's always service with a smile! My only criticism is their gravy. It either needs some zipping up or perhaps start offering a brown gravy option. I've eaten inside a few times and it's always clean and tidy inside which is comforting. Nice ambiance. read more

Walked in and was greeted by the sweetest crew today around 130pm! Talked a bit ate... made me feel like a homey mom and pap restaurant. This establishment is connected to a gas station with clean bathrooms. The cashier Tarra was so friendly too. We were just passing through from Vegas on our way to Dallas. Chicken was perfect. AVOID THIS LOCATION!! I wish I could give zero stars. I should've left when I saw people bailing out of the drive-thru line before I got to the window. Waited 30 MINUTES for fish meal. I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't know what to expect. I think I had heard from someone that Chicken Express wasn't that great. I decided to take a chance because it was late and I hadn't eaten dinner yet and I didn't want a dinner that was a big deal in a restaurant. A lot of places were closed by the time I started looking for a place to eat. I'm staying in a motel about a mile away from here. I zoomed over pretty quickly and walked in. I was the only customer. I looked over the menu and ordered a three-piece dinner. I didn't think to specify all dark meat but it's probably just as well because the white meat was excellent, very juicy and tender. My main objection to white meat is that it tends to be dry but I like it as well as the next person if it's moist. The biscuit was a complete fail. By the time I even saw it was there and it gotten completely smashed and crumbled by the food on top of it. The pickle slices were okay. They had good flavor but were pretty oily and I had a hard time taking bites out of them without having to gnaw through them. I never heard of tough pickles before. The breading was sort of falling off of them but that's probably because they were moist. The flavor was fine. Someone else said their food tasted like old oil but I didn't pick up any of that flavor even though it was nearly closing time. As for the chicken, I picked up the wing first and was surprised how plump and meaty it was. I decided to try the white meat next and found it to be delicious, moist and tender. The mashed potatoes and gravy were also a pleasant surprise. The texture was good and so was the flavor. The gravy was especially good. Years ago KFC had good mashed potatoes and gravy but they have cheapened them over the years so they barely resemble potatoes. Next time I might order more gravy because it was good and I ran out too fast. I like my gravy peppery and that's how this was. I probably only ate about half my food and the rest I can eat for lunch tomorrow or the next day. The dinner was under $9 even with the tax. That was for a three piece dinner with two sides and a biscuit. The servers were neither unpleasant nor neglectful but neither were they friendly and attentive. Not that you need much in a fast food place but it's always nice when someone checks in with you and asks if you're happy with your meal. Even when I went out of my way to mention how good it was I got a very lackluster response. I'm one of those customers that likes to call out a cheerful goodbye and thank you when I leave a place and it's nice when you get a response. Theirs was more obligatory then sincere. I didn't read about how good the sweet tea was until after I was gone so I'll have to try that the next time. I would definitely go back. read more

We were literally the only people in the drive thru @9:10pm when the dining room was closed for covid. Had to keep asking if we could place our order and kept being told to hold on. Manager should do a periodic late drive thru checks. Place is garbage, just close the place at 9 if that's when y'all want to stop serving food read more

I'm usually very satisfied with my experience here. Today though, I got home with two family sides of corn nuggets, that were less than halfway full. I got the quantity that usually comes in one family side. It's frustrating to get home and realize you've been ripped off. read more

Just like my cafeteria lady used to make it. I love chicken tenders, those are my fast food weaknesses. Reminds me of KFC without the pzazz and the sides, because KFC serves small nugget bites like these and as well as large tenders. Much of it is not a sight seen. I asked for green beans since they r out of corn. SURPRISE, ... NO GREEN BEANS! Great management. Ok so I ask for dipping sauce for my 20 piece family order. She puts 3 containers of sauce on the counter. Now I'm no math wizard. I spent a good 1/2 second of brain power checking the weather & plotting my route home & processing the fried grease in this place & said "works out to a little over 6 1/3 strips per container." She looks at me like I'm the one that skipped out of school after 6th grade and said "huh," I said the math isn't that tough. She added 2 more sauces. Great we're down to 4 strips/sauce. The Chicken Express Restaurants in Amarillo are the worse run in the State!!!! We eat in these restaurants all over the state and they are always well run everywhere except Amarillo! The franchise owner in Amarillo must have a don't care attitude because they are always out of whatever you might want off the menu! Why have fish on the menu if you can NEVER get it. They are always run by kids who do not give a damn if the order is right or not! This will be my last trip to any Chicken Express in Amarillo!!!! Our family stopped here on our way through Las Vegas (end destination Dallas) and we thought the chicken was delicious. The crust is crispy and the chicken is very moist. It is very affordable price. The chicken comes with buttermilk sauce, gravy, biscuit or a roll. I would recommend it. We filled up our truck with diesel, had a bathroom stop and a yummy meal. My 7 year old said mmmmmm yummy.
