Not bad chicken. Mashed potatoes & gravy were very good compared to most fast food chicken places. Pickles were oily but had good flavor
    MaryLou D.

I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't know what to expect. I think I had heard from someone that Chicken Express wasn't that great. I decided to take a chance because it was late and I hadn't eaten dinner yet and I didn't want a dinner that was a big deal in a restaurant. A lot of places were closed by the time I started looking for a place to eat. I'm staying in a motel about a mile away from here. I zoomed over pretty quickly and walked in. I was the only customer. I looked over the menu and ordered a three-piece dinner. I didn't think to specify all dark meat but it's probably just as well because the white meat was excellent, very juicy and tender. My main objection to white meat is that it tends to be dry but I like it as well as the next person if it's moist. The biscuit was a complete fail. By the time I even saw it was there and it gotten completely smashed and crumbled by the food on top of it. The pickle slices were okay. They had good flavor but were pretty oily and I had a hard time taking bites out of them without having to gnaw through them. I never heard of tough pickles before. The breading was sort of falling off of them but that's probably because they were moist. The flavor was fine. Someone else said their food tasted like old oil but I didn't pick up any of that flavor even though it was nearly closing time. As for the chicken, I picked up the wing first and was surprised how plump and meaty it was. I decided to try the white meat next and found it to be delicious, moist and tender. The mashed potatoes and gravy were also a pleasant surprise. The texture was good and so was the flavor. The gravy was especially good. Years ago KFC had good mashed potatoes and gravy but they have cheapened them over the years so they barely resemble potatoes. Next time I might order more gravy because it was good and I ran out too fast. I like my gravy peppery and that's how this was. I probably only ate about half my food and the rest I can eat for lunch tomorrow or the next day. The dinner was under $9 even with the tax. That was for a three piece dinner with two sides and a biscuit. The servers were neither unpleasant nor neglectful but neither were they friendly and attentive. Not that you need much in a fast food place but it's always nice when someone checks in with you and asks if you're happy with your meal. Even when I went out of my way to mention how good it was I got a very lackluster response. I'm one of those customers that likes to call out a cheerful goodbye and thank you when I leave a place and it's nice when you get a response. Theirs was more obligatory then sincere. I didn't read about how good the sweet tea was until after I was gone so I'll have to try that the next time. I would definitely go back.

    Family Side of corn nuggets
    Chris D.

I'm usually very satisfied with my experience here. Today though, I got home with two family sides of corn nuggets, that were less than halfway full. I got the quantity that usually comes in one family side. It's frustrating to get home and realize you've been ripped off.

Nestled amongst the chain restaurants right along I-40 was this gem. It has been there for a number of years and the moment you walk in you get an old west tavern feel. We opted to sit in the bar area after the booths were a bit cramped for my circular shape as this place was built in an era where the tables don't slide! The bar area was open and comfortable. I ordered a happy hour beer and my wife got a margarita. We opted out of any appetizers but I was very tempted to order the house chips. I ordered the hand battered chicken fried steak with cheesy grits and a salad. My wife had the smoked ribeye with roasted corn and a salad. Both were from the lunch menu so the portions were appropriate for the time of day. Our salads were nicely sized, fresh and a perfect companion to the main course. We were served rolls with the salads. By the way my wife cleaned them up I presume they were pretty good! The CFS was tender, well-seasoned and covered in a nicely flavored gravy. It included two slices of buttered white toast as well. Very Texas! The cheesy grits were a nice side as there was just the right amount of cheese to grits ratio. My wife's smoked ribeye looked good but she said it lacked a bit on flavor. She split the roasted corn with me and it was just about perfect. The service was attentive but not intrusive and overall I really liked the vibe. It was lively but not Texas Roadhouse lively. You could have a discussion without yelling. Music level was reasonable. Of course, it might be different packed with patrons on a Friday night. I give this place a strong 7 out of 10. If I'm ever back in Amarillo I'll definitely come back and try a dinner steak and other options. Plus the bar would be a perfect afternoon hang to drink a beer and watch a game on one of their several large TV's.

He got the coffee rubbed steak which surprisingly did not taste like coffee. As a coffee hater I thought it was pretty good. The twisted potato chips to me was the best thing yeah carbs I know lol . Restaurants really need to get with the times and have something on the menu less carbs other than a just a boring salad . Salads can be awesome with toppings. Do that!! Would I personally come again I wouldn't! Hubs might . I will be looking for a better restaurant next time for sure. To me it suffers from the same thing the Big Texan does it's touristy . You got to back it up . You didn't. Service the waitress wasn't all there oh yeah there was a hair in our cheesecake. I swear they just took the top off and gave it back . We made the best of it but NEVER AGAIN!!

Aside from the Seafood Fondeaux being a little on the saltier side...Saltgrass Steakhouse is probably the #1 Steakhouse here in Amarillo Texas (just my opinion)...if I had to leave one two word adjective to describe my entire experience today at this Steak House...."Michelin Worthy." Obviously not at Joel Robuchon level, but they sure execute everything like Brick & Mortar Steakhouse would be expected on Rodeo Drive. Perfect Medium Rare, Great baked sweet potatoes with that foam melt butter, garlic butter and grilled shrimp were cherries on top of the pie as a Steak Add-on, phenomenal balsamic vinegarette fused Blue Cheese crumbs Wedge Salad, and the Seafood Fondeaux was as if you married lobster bisque with creme spinach and queso, a superb starter. Premium Service by Isabel, top notch multitasker handling the bar, and multiple fronts. A well put together Southern Cowboy country Interior with very fitting country music. First time at Saltgrass, and what are my last thoughts? Definitely on my recommend list to anyone looking for a casual weekday steak lunch or dinner. Worth the spend! Edit: ***oh...pshhh no wonder, this steakhouse is sister restaurants with Mastros and Morton's~~ It's like the Swatch Group, if Mastros was Breguet, then Morton's would be Omega, and Saltgrass...Longines.

Well, that was us today -- and Bubba's 33 absolutely delivered. My husband ordered the smash burger, and I got the New England-style fish and chips, plus a full order of their hand-breaded, hand-cut onion rings that are honestly to die for. We picked everything up just 15 minutes after ordering, and every single item tasted like it had just come straight from the kitchen to our table. The onion rings were perfectly crispy with that fresh-from-the-fryer crunch and flavor. The fish had that classic crunchy beer batter on the outside while still being flaky and tender inside, and the garlic mashed potatoes were clearly homemade with just the right amount of garlic. Now let's talk about the smash burger... it was HUGE. Seriously, it could feed three people. My husband practically inhaled it before I could even take a picture! What really impressed me wasn't just the portion sizes -- it was the attention to detail. The onion rings were packaged separately so they stayed crisp, and the savory Bubba's 33 sauce paired perfectly with them. We each ate several onion rings and STILL had leftovers. Even the side salad was incredibly fresh. I'm obsessed with those little crispy potato straws on top, and the homemade ranch is the perfect finishing touch. Honestly, it was refreshing to order takeout and not have a single issue. Nothing missing, nothing cold, nothing soggy or stale -- just an exceptional meal from start to finish. Huge shoutout to the cooking staff and online order prep team at Bubba's 33. You all absolutely crushed it tonight. We will definitely be ordering again and again!
