Once I located the place, I attempted to order the chicken sandwich - its trademark dish and you would swear I asked fr a kidney. I've had a lot of chicken and rice platters in my day, including the famous Halal Guys on 53rd and 6th as well as other variations across New York and even in New Jersey; so, I never expected to be as delightfully surprised as I was with Chick-N-Bap. I got the Korean BBQ Style and it was phenomenal. First off, the marriage between the Middle Eastern and Korean flavors is perfect and so unexpected. The platter also tasted a lot less greasy and felt much cleaner. I didn't even have that dreaded moment of regret and self-reflection afterwards that is all too common after eating Halal Guys; instead, that feeling was replaced with happiness and a thirst for more. (Portions here are plentiful, so I obviously never actually get a second even though I always want to). One other thing to note is that Chick-N-Bap has green sauce (cilantro, jalapeño, garlic, lime juice, sour cream), which is SUPERB and really gives the dish that extra zing. read more

"Woohoo! As good as it gets!" You got that right. I never attended Binghamton U, but I had the absolute pleasure of trying Chick-N-Bap thanks to a friend who brought it to NYC. I'd even argue and say it tastes better than the real thing (53rd and 6th); I always like a fresher-tasting alternative to the original greasy platter. This place is great. I've never had Korean food before so Chick-N-Bap set the standard high. I definitely would not have found this place on Binghamtons campus without the help of a friend who goes here. It is located in the central dining hall on campus. If you're a BU student, get Chick-N-Bap before you graduate! It's not as great as the halal food carts in the city,but it's definitely comparable. They use fresh ingredients and it always tastes good! Whenever I'm in the Marketplace, the line for this is pretty long. Because of that, it runs out fast! I checked this place out after a friend of mine (from Bing) told me about it.. definitely a must place to hit if you're in the area since there's nothing like it elsewhere, plus it's amazing! For 6 bucks you get a generous portion of a Halal/53 & 6th type dish that's simply delicious. The rice.. probably the most overlooked part of a chicken and rice type platter was incredible, the flavors were spot on with hints of turmeric and cumin and the chicken tasted like it was right off the grill. Granted those two ingredients are base ingredients for the dish, but the absolute star was really the sauce. The green sauce was something that I had never tasted before, the mix of cilantro, spice and garlic really disrupted everything I knew about what a chicken and rice sauce could be. If you visit Bing, you must visit this place! I love how it's not just one menu with different meat. They came up with this new halal with Korean twist (my fave!) honestly once you get one, your brain will direct you to chick and bap the next day again. I've been living in New York City for the past 5 years and every "true" New Yorker knows that Halal runs these streets (literally). So I'm not going to lie, when I heard of Chick-N-Bap I was very skeptical thinking it was just another knockoff of the OG street food. But boy was I wrong.... The first time I tried this hidden gym that was tucked away in upstate New York, my taste buds went for the ride of their lives. It had its own twist on the classic chicken and rice that I had in NYC and I wanted MORE. With every bite my emotions were running wild. They were happy that they were being rewarded with such amazing and decadent food yet sad because with every delicious bite, it meant that I was one step closer to the end...but I digress It's a real shame that Chick-N-Bap doesn't exist in the city! One of the best dishes you can get in Binghamton and it's conveniently on campus. They serve two options: the traditional Halal Guys type of chicken and rice, and a Korean flavored chicken and rice. Personally I prefer the Korean flavored one - it kind of tastes like teriyaki with the sweet soy sauce and sesame seeds flavor. You can also add your choice of sauces - white yogurt sauce, spicy sauce, this soy sauced based sauce. All in all, it's delicious and it's only $6. i heard chicknbap was originally started to satisfy the Halal Guys craving that so many new yorkers have, but this has actually become its own thing. alot of kids here at binghamton look forward to this food. the entire christian club i attend sometimes heads over to chicknbap to get a weekly fix. a downside is that the dish goes out fast. you need to get there before closing time (which is even more of a reason to want it) read more
